I am a Pakistani. Let me correct you and Shah Hulton when both of you said that Urdu is more like Arabic which is not right. Urdu language is a blend of different languages like some words are taken from English Language. Others are from Turkish, Persian and Arabic like in Urdu language, Train means same as you do in English, Garden also means same meaning as English has. When you say Salam Alaikum , this word is taken from Arabic language. Due to this flexibility and openness, Pakistani people can learn English quickly as compare to European and south American countries.

@@periqb1585 Urdu is born and Bread in Northern subcontinent, not too long ago. This language is nowhere understood but in the subcontinent only. It is interesting to know that Urdu in the subcontinent and English in Europe almost has the same history and same age. both the languages born in recent history and both have become "lingua Franca" of the region. if you open the dictionary and find out the root words English itself is cocktail of several different European languages i.e Latin, Greek German and French. And the same with Urdu based on Sanskrit grammar and it has root words from Sanskrit then Farsi Turkish Arabic Russian Chinese and the old local languages of the region. Infect once Farsi (Persian) was the official language of the subcontinent for almost from eight to nine hundred years before it got colonized by the Britain 150 years agovcd

When I lived in Karachi Pakistan, I went to an English medium school. It was a convent school, and English was like a first language. We watched English movies read books and magazines in English so I never had a problem in Canada with language. Although there are people in Pakistan who don't attend schools like I did so, their English isn't as smooth, but still they understand you and can communicate in English....more or less. No Turkey was not under the British, so they have their own language, which is Turkish.

Dates are used to open the fasting. It is because its SUNNAH OF LAST PROPHET HAZRAT Muhammad SAW. Sunnah is the act which is perfored by Hazrat Muhammad SAW and also because in Mekkah and Madina dates were and are their essential food item.

Pakistan's official language is English and Urdu, and in school you have English subject compulsory but in some Private schools the entire curriculum in English and after high school in college and university level the entire curriculum is in English. So maybe that's why Pakistan speaks and understands English.

An airline that put out a monthly travel mag, with articles about spending 3-4 days in a world city. It would suggest staying at this palace, or that castle for $1500 a night. Eventually the 3 days would cost $10,000. You show reasonable stays, nice accommodations, where great food and bargains are. I appreciate you doing this for NORMAL travelers! Keep up the great work!

Older people speak English cz they were more closer to British colonial influence and millennials know english due to social media culture . Urdu is arabic script , Indian cant read it but if pakistani guy reads it , indian can understand it , Arab can read Urdu but not know the meaning of it except common arabic words which are taken from arabic and turkish .

This what everyone says nowadays but the main cause is self control because u have to fast even if u are poor ... Fasting teaches us self control and deepens our faith and tells us that in the end all our sufferings will be over and we can have whatever we want, its just matter of time❤ like we control over selves till iftar because of faith and then we are given everything... This is how we need yo control our lives so that the reward in after life will be waiting for us..

And to work on our behaviours and improve our attitudes, will power, stamina, personalities, tongues. It's also a cleansing practice for our bodies and our spirit.
Because it's compulsory for all Muslims to fast, not just rich or well off muslims. It's a core/spiritual strengthening for the rest of the year.
Also to form and maintain good habits for the rest of the year.
We Muslims don't have new year resolutions. Ramadan is the month of resolution for us. We set a target and try to incorporate it in ramadan and then try to maintain it through out the year.
