Call me crazy but I don’t really see much difference between 1080p and 1440p so I feel like it’s smart of Sony to push people down the path to 4K / 120
Something to take into account is the fact that MS does not allow HDR on 1440 pp Monitors , only on 4k resolution. So in order to get HDR you can't play at 120 Hz what it sucks
Same mate. Got a 27" inch 1440p monitor with 165 Hz but it only has HDMI 2.0. Thought I needed 2.1 to unlock 120 Hz, but it worked perfectly fine with 2.0.
Just got an order complete for the Series X and been trying to decide what to do for a screen, this video just backed up my gut feeling of going 1440p 120hz on a monitor. Appreciate it (:
This is my first time commenting on a youtube video in this manner and it is simply because this video is incredibly informative and well made. Thank you so much for the information.
That is probably the coolest comment I have received on this video! I am glad you commented here! Thanks for the support and I am glad the video helped!
This channel is always super informative and helpful. So much better than all of these other click bait you tubers who post a bunch of garbage with a title that doesn’t even address the topic, Definitely liked and subscribed!
It’s weird for me. I start off at 1440p 60hz. First I change my fps to 120hz which forces my resolution to change to 1080p. After that, I set my resolution back to 1440p. It gives me the warning that my fps could drop but then nothing changes. I’ve got 1440p at 120hz.
One issue is it seems like the Xbox only allows HDR in 4K. If you disable 4K, you lose HDR. I was really hoping to get to play with 1440p, 120fps and HDR all at once on my monitor. It looks like I'm stuck with 4k/60fps/HDR or 1440p/120fps.
Yeah that will unfortunately be a sacrifice that will be made using an hdmi 2.0 monitor. I honestly don't know how well the HDR would look on a series x, but I am with you, it would be nice to have at 120hz and 1440p.
I have the odyssey 32" curved g5 which is a 1440p with hdr 600 I believe it is and it let's me run 4k@60hz with hdr but the imput delay is to much. Especially since I'm rocking the mouse N key on the box. 1440 hits the sweet spot.
2024 still best info video for HDMI for Xbox. I’ve been playing with the 4K setting checked whenever my monitor only goes up to 1440p 120hz. Thank You resolved my monitor turning off out of nowhere sometimes plus I never needed a 2.1 in the first place lol..
No, in order to get a pc with the same specs as the series X you will need around $1,800 the series X is still no joke. Why spend thousands on a pc when you can get the specs of a pc on the series X. Makes no sense. Get the series X and a flagship phone for less than a pc of equivalent specs@@WalterClements.official
My monitor is capable of 1440p@120 Hz. Yet if I change the setting to 120Hz the console tells me it won't work and decreases the res to 1080p@120Hz but I want to play in 1440p@120Hz. I am using HDMI 2.0. Can someone help?
Best advised! This is what i like to watch not only reviews but also important a very nice advised of what they maked a video. So im not buying now 4k monitor to my xbox seriex x. I remain 1440p 120 hz monitor with hdr. Thanks to a very nice video.
I can agree its way smoother than a pc… I recently got my series x up and running on 120hz and at 1080p and its smoother than my 1660ti ryzen 4700g pc by far… you actually have to play them both on the same game and thats when you realize the xbox is amazing at 120hz
@@BainCustom I wonder if the xbox’s smoothness falls on the game devs optimizing it for the xbox’s dedicated hardware, and the pc versions of the same game may not be as optimized due to hardware configurations being so vast…. Thus pc game optimization may be something in the middle to accommodate all the hardware variations vs the xbox being maximum optimized for its dedicated hardware….
If your questioning about 2:00 I recommend getting a 1440p 120hz monitor if you play fortnite and warzone and games like that this is for a hardcore gamer but I also recommend getting a 4K 60hz monitor if you prefer more graphical games like minecraft ray tracing or something like that.
Thank you for this video! it helped me out alot. Just because of this I'm gonna go with Xbox series X instead of PS5, I don't wanna buy another TV, for 4k 120hz, because I just got my 65' Sony last year.
That is really cool to hear! I'm glad the video helped out and I totally get why you chose Xbox. PlayStation needs to step up their game on the 1440p capability. Anyways, feel free to add input on any of the videos!
seeing you manually choose 1440p AND 120hrz in da xbox settings enlightens me. i was worried my new xbox wouldn't support those specs w my new MSI monitor, so thanks for making dis video easy to understand 👍🏻🙏🏻
Great vid..I personally have my XSX hooked up to a Tv Samsung 55" NU8000 4K,HDR,HDR10,HLG, FREESYNC2, 4K AT 60hz and amazingly 1440p at 120hz with an incredible gaming mode one of the best 2018 TVs for gaming and still holds up to any of the HDMI 2.0 televisions the response time is absolutely amazing the best part is I picked it up from Craigslist from an old guy who hardly ever used it for $250
Absolutely! Yeah the RU8000 was the last standard LED TV that Samsung did well and $250 is a steal. I think the 55 inch sold for $600 or so. Anyways, thanks for the input and welcome to the channel! I hope you subscribe and stick around 👍
@@BainCustom not the RU..the Nu...its the NU8000 SERIES 8 this model retailed for $1200 and still sells for $850 on amazon. Either way thanks for replying..ya got a new sub
@@BainCustom no the MU comes with the connect box..but the NU was built with upgraded gaming features and if I'm not mistaken was the first television to receive the FREESYNC2 update from Samsung. Either way I have two monitors that are very capable and I prefer to play on this television it runs so good with this series x
That's pretty wild. I'm surprised they don't produce that TV or the 8 series the same way. Their q70 isn't even as good as that today. Yeah it has a lot of gaming features, but it's edge lit. Solid grab for sure!
U also have to see what ur monitor is capable of over hdmi. Most monitors advertise as 120hz or 144hz etc but thats is the max setting and over display port. The monitor might not do 120 over the hdmi port so you really need to do your due diligence on these monitors. Luckily AMDs website have a nice list of which monitors are capable of these frames over hdmi.
Good call out. I have had a few comments of monitors that are struggling to get 120Hz. But I would imagine it has more to do with internal settings. Because the bandwidth of HDMI 2.0 will allow 1440p @ 120hz. Although you're right, still some monitors don't allow for it.
Did you get HDR working in 1440p? It never goes into HDR mode when i play in 1440 even though it says its supports HDR10. Playing on a Samsung Odyssey G7 for reference.
6:21 a cut in the video edit, and then 1440p 120Hz appears... What settings did you change to get this to work. I have the same monitor and using the HDMI cable supplied with the Series X, but only getting 1080p 120Hz or 1440p 60Hz.
Hi mate after watching your video I went and did a check on my tv I have a 2019 LG nano 65 inch 4K TV and it says on my Xbox series x that it supports upto 1440p at 120 I was really surprised thank you so much for uploading this video I’m excited trying it out now cheers mate
I just got the series X and my tv can run 4K at 60 hz and 1440p at 120 hz. I use 4K for games like red dead redemption to get the best visuals while I use 1440p when I play competitive games like call of duty to get the best performance. Should I keep using this method?
Yeah I think that's a really good method. In fact that is what I tend to do myself for higher Fidelity games and switching to first person shooters. Although I mostly game on my PC, it's nice to sit back and relax while gaming casually.
I have a question, I have a Philips 278E8QJAB / 00 monitor. Will he be able to handle xsx? Will I have to change to a better monitor? And one more question, if I have to change, can it be Samsung C27G55TQWR 1ms 144Hz
The #1 thing you need to know is what HDMI version your monitor has. Then you need to know if that monitor has a VESA standard 120hz and not something like 119.6hz. With those two features, you should be able to get 1080p 120hz & 1440p 120hz. So make sure the samsung offers that if yours does not and you are good to go.
So there is HDMI 2.0 and HDMI 2.1 available on the market today. These consoles utilize HDMI 2.1 but are backwards compatible to a degree. With HDMI 2.0 this video outlines certain capabilities that you will have, but not all capabilities. You should be able to receive 120 Hz at 1440p utilizing HDMI 2.0 if your monitor allows.
I'm pretty impressed with Xbox, tbh. Consoles really have no reason to acknowledge the 1440p standard, as their main audience uses televisions. The fact that 120hz gameplay isn't just locked to 1080p is really cool to see. It's almost like they went above and beyond to show off what their system can do. Even in the PC world, 1440p 120hz is nothing to sneeze at.
It's a big jump for the casual gamer. I was perfectly happy with my 720p 60hz for years until I bought a computer. Then going back to console was rough. Now console is very playable in comparison. Thanks for the input
@@BainCustom Honestly I'd be fine with 60hz too, what really gets me is how they still think it's alright to cap games at 30fps, especially first person shooters.
I made this shorter version that gets straight to the point that includes more details about how to achieve 1440p120hz. ua-cam.com/video/hAGALLZbiPw/v-deo.html
hey, you are wrong...i bought this monitor LG 27" monitor 27GN850-B....with the xbox series x you can only run 1440p @ 60hz, and 1080p @ 120hz and you have to turn off variable refresh rate (not good)!!! (you screen showed this too)....HDMI 2.1 monitors is the way to go (when available)...this monitor only works well using display port connection on a pc...returning this monitor back to best buy.
That's not true. You can run 120hz at 1440p and I show it in the video. If you had issues then there are additional steps you may need to follow to unlock that capability. I have heard that you have to turn that off, but it wouldn't be on by factory default. So unless you used it on a pc before hand this shouldn't be an issue. Anyways, I hope you didn't return it because you can use it at 1440p 120Hz even while HDR is active. It's one heck of a monitor for the Xbox.
I would go with the one in the video. The LG GN850-B it's not linked in the description because it is only sold at Best Buy at the moment. But I have tested it and confirmed that it will do 120hz @ 1440p with HDR active.
I have the LG 27” GN850 but can’t tell if it is -B well anyways I’m having trouble with setting Cold War to 120hz the damn thing is shown with a Lock on it... Won’t let me get 120hz @ 1440p... I can’t return mine... Bought it two months ago... Because I’m an idiot.. So am i waiting for Microsoft to do an update?!? Or should i sell my monitor and get a different one?
@@BainCustom ok so i do have the 27” GN850-B anyways the 120hz is Locked on Cold War for me? I have 1440p @120hz turned on in Xbox Settings and can’t gain access to turn it on in game Cold War?? Any thoughts?
at about 8 minutes or so I go over how I made those changes. It shows how I did it using my equipment. I did make a follow up video with all of the settings needed to achieve 1440p @ 120hz on 2 different monitors.
Do you have any recommendations for 4K monitors? I want 4K 60hz and 1440p 120hz. Some monitors are having issues with Xbox not allowing 1440p 120hz just 60hz.
Unfortunately right now it's very hard to recommend 4K monitors with new models coming right around the corner. I do have a video coming out this next week with a new monitor and I tested on the xbox. It is a 1440p monitor. I do plan on doing HDMI 2.1 4K monitors when they come out.
I bought a 27” 1440p monitor and seriesx. You won’t be able to see any clearer. 4K is absolutely wasted if your on a monitor. I play destiny2 at 1440p 120hz. Rock solid
@@simms87 I have a 1440p 144hz monitor but every time I try to run it at max, it automatically downgraded to 60hz if I go to 1440p, or 1080p if I switch to 120hz. Any ideas how you got it to work?
@@harryleeds8855 yeah you need to disable vrr. Aka Free sync But because destiny2 is a rock solid 120fps in crucible (unlike cod) you don’t need vrr. It’s only crucible that is 120fps. The pve element is only 1440p 60hz. Which is still incredible on my 27 “ gl850. LG Make some amazing screens.

O yeah. Good choice, I reserved one a while back but ended up holding out for when HDMI 2.1 monitors come in. But the 900H is a nice display for Xbox or ps5.
@@DETERMINOLOGY if on a budget the Q70T is pretty good at 900. I have a Q70T / Q80T / CX and X900. Between the 2 Samsung’s I find the Q70 looks better on video games for whatever reason but movies look a little better on the Q80. It’s all personal preference tho I had friends try it out on each TV to see which looked best w ps5 and Xbox and people were pretty split between all of them. I’d prob go with the CX if you plan to get both an Xbox and Ps5 tho
I bought an LG GP850b specifically to play on the XBOX Series X in 1440p and 120HZ, but it just doesn't work. Every time I set 120HZ and then want to go to 1440p, it says that my TV can't do that, and then it jumps back to 1080p. I've tried everything and I'm starting to despair. I'll never get an XBOX again, this console is hell on earth.
Solid TV! You can get 1440p too with some adjustment to the Xbox settings. (Changing the source input, in fidelity settings, to HDMI only). Thanks for the comment! Welcome to the channel!
So does an Xbox One X allow 1440p @ 120hz over HDMI 2.0? (Shopping for a new monitor atm) I seem to keep seeing reviews on Amazon saying its not possible. Is it therefore a feature unique to the series?
It is for sure capable. I do showcase that in this video and quite a few videos on the channel. ua-cam.com/video/edeejJuqPjQ/v-deo.html Start there and if you want, check out the 1440p monitors I have reviewed for console. That should help make a good decision.

Yo man great video way more informative than most stuff out there. I’m having trouble on my LG 27GL850-B 27 Inch Ultragear QHD Nano IPS monitor which does support hdmi 2.0 and says that the 2.0 port is capable of 1440p @ 144hz, however on my series x it only gives me the option of 1080p @ 120hz or 1440p @ 60hz. Any thoughts as to why/how to fix?
Check your fidelity settings on the Xbox menu. You should be able to change your input to HDMI only and it should then allow you to choose resolution and refresh rate.
Thanks for the watch btw, let me know if that solutions works or what you find for a solution. I have had a few people ask the same question so I want to get to the bottom of it.
I am looking for a monitor for my son. He uses the Xbox one x console. What do you think is better to buy, 4K 60hz matrix or 1440p 144Hz and 1ms monitor. I was thinking about LG with a NanoIPS matrix.
Hey thanks for commenting. There's definitely an ongoing debate about displays at the moment. Personally I think the jump to 120hz is probably the largest jump, gaming-wise, that has happened in this generation....so far! Personally I would probably go with something that's 1440p and 144hz.
@@BainCustom right now mostly halo infinite and forza horizan 5 and its awesome!! Really solid setup, for me personally 2k gaming at 120hz is plenty good enough for me now after witnessing it first hand playing, it's just really crisp, after a 4 hour session the series x doesn't even really get loud or even that hot and just after a few minutes after quiting the game it seems to cool down really fast, great console and monitor combo, highly recommended, cheers.
Viewsonic seems to be up-to-date with console compatibility right now, I would definitely go for one of their monitors. ua-cam.com/video/SUAF_sfMhd8/v-deo.html
My question is its possible to get 120 fps on monitors that dont have hdmi 2.1 ? Ok 120 hz ok on cold war but i dont know that the fps is the same 120 for me in my tests i have ps5 on monitor aoc 144 hz 2.0 and i dont get options to get 120 hz in this monitor...only in my oled c9
I currently have a TV with HDR 4k at 60hz but due to a set up change I need to buy a monitor. I have the series x and was wondering is it better to go for 1440p at 120 plus hz or go for a 4k 60hz monitor with maybe hdr?
My opinion is that a 1440p 144hz monitor is better. Yes 4k resolution looks better, but having twice the frames looks awesome. It also depends if you really see a difference from 1440p compared to 4k.
That is the question of the year. Personally I am most interested in either a 1440p 120hz monitor or 4k hdmi 2.1 TV. Basically hdmi 2.1 monitors are looking to be about $1k and up, while 1440p monitors are about $300 for a decent one to start. You can also find TV's for about $600 or so. I just don't think the performance, price and value are their for hdmi 2.1 monitors for consoles.
Hey I appreciate the comment. It was a small portion of the video but yes I do go over how I opened up that 1440p at 120hz. It is time stamped in the description if you need to go back in reference it. but let me know if you have any questions or are struggling anywhere because I can definitely help.
I'm actually about to grab one myself and see how the pc looks on it. I haven't had the chance to test my xbox on hdmi 2.1 just yet, but I'm getting close too.
Same i have it also and I pair it with my series x and ps5 sometime this year when its back in stock . Cant recommend it more especially for the price range .
Are most games going to support 1440p though, for example what if new games are coded to be 1080p and 4k only, wont it look blurry or bad on a 1440p monitor? Debating on getting 4k or 1440p, the refresh rate would be nice.
Well I'm like Sony, Microsoft has given developers access to optimized for 1440p. There are still some drawbacks like you mentioned and the lack of HDR. But overall the higher frame rates over HDMI 2.0 I think outweigh 4K resolutions at 60Hz. I think the upscaling or downscaling will depend more on the display. I know the console plays a big part in that, but 1080p looks phenomenal on my OLED. Realistically it should look terrible, but it doesn't. That is a good question though, I will look into the support of current titles and see if Xbox has any announcements related to more support going forward.
What a fantastic video! I have a question: I have xbox series X and I would like to buy a monitor. Is it better Lg gn850 or lg gp850 to play Warzone? Thank you!
Benq actually has instruction on their website in the description of this monitor. You need to change the video output of the Xbox to hdmi only. It can be found in the fidelity settings. This has worked for me on other displays too.
Isn’t the issue with 1440p monitors on the Xbox series x that devs will most likely aim for 120 fps at 1080p and 60 FPS at 4K. Meaning 1440p even if it could run at 120 FPS will most likely be limited to 60 FPS because of this. So it kind of makes sense to just get a 4K tv or monitor? Hopefully they provide 120 FPS options for 1440p though!
That is the case for playstation and most console exclusive games. I would imagine that will change for sony once they fully incorporate the steam partnership. But with cross platform games and games that are also developed for pc they are already optimized for 1440p 120hz. I have a suspicion that with the growing popularity for xbox that devs will start to incorporate it early in development. But you are right, there are only a handful of games that fully support 1440p right now.
I have a 1440p monitor but it’s not working for me only works on 1080p to be able to run at 120hz my monitor is a dell s2721dgf anyway of fixing this ?
thank you so much for such an amazing information! this is EXACTLY what I’ve been looking for..Just a bit curious about that ALLOW 4K…on my XSX I’ve set everything to 1440 and 120..I ticked and unticked ALLOW 4K and I could not see any difference…why is that?I’m using 1440p monitor.. sorry for bad english
Good good glad the video was helpful! I can imagine that the monitor is still displaying a 1440p signal no matter what resolution the Xbox is set to. Is that what you mean? What monitor are you using?
Great vid bro , Alienware aw2720hf can go with 1440 with 120hz? For the series x? I need a monitor with 1ms , also , or do you know a good recommendation?
I like LG GN850, ViewSonic XG270QG and I have a new monitor video dropping in about a week. It's a great choice for series x, I personally tested it and love it.
I have hdmi 2.0 TV set it at 1440p And 120 hz will it hurt my gaming experience if game under settings offer 120 hz as result graphics wise. if game from Xbox one platform which been redone for next gen console like Mortal Kombat 11 ultimate. Or halo master chief edition or rise of tomb raider definitive edition. Note using OLED LG tv how well will such remastered and actual next gen games work on such tv at 1440p finally Dolby planning on release couple games in Dolby vision quality around mid to late 2021. Hopefully they be worth adopting movie tech for gaming.
Yes I am hearing of the dolby games! That is going to be really nice. If you are using the LG CX than I would imagine that most of your gameplay will be amazing. Like I said in the video, I noticed an increased input lag at lower resolutions on my TV. I can't say that will happen to you, but it could. Just make sure you are in game mode and you should be fine. On fidelity, you can't really beat the quality of picture you have on an OLED, I personally think 1440p @120hz is the sweet spot. But if you have hdmi 2.1 than of course 4k 120hz would be better for the TV.

Hey I appreciate the comment and welcome you to the channel. Below is a video where I talk about settings for any monitor and give the settings I use for the LG GN850. That being said, I would add a few things here: 1. Keep adaptive sync on in the monitor and off in game. 2. HDMI compatibility mode should be off 3. I don't use HDR 99% of the time. Here is the calibration video, let me know if you have any questions. ua-cam.com/video/X8ruxo5a_eA/v-deo.html
I thought HDR couldn’t work with 120hz on monitors yet for the series X? My BenQ 1440p 144hz monitor doesn’t let play 120hz with HDR, only 60hz when I allow 4K, are you sure you had HDR working while playing 120hz on your monitor?
Hey that's a good question. What I can confirm is that the HDR feature showed as active in the Xbox menu, the HDR turned on for the monitor automatically and I was able to do the HDR calibration on the Xbox. All signs would point to HDR being active as there is no menu within the game to tell me it is on. After a bit of reading it may be related to the chroma subsampling. Also it sounds like the biggest issue is at 4K 120 Hz.
I can confirm that. I'm using a samsung odyssey G7 and it only runs HDR at 4k 60. When i play at 1440p with VRR enabled/disabled im only getting 120fps with SDR image quality. With 1440p or VRR enabled the display features cross out HDR in the checklist. Its a noticeable compromise until HDR gets implemented for 1440p resolutions, however this has been an ongoing issue that was never fixed since the xbox one x.
That is interesting. Maybe that was a small item that I missed, I will have to go back and confirm. But as far as my initial setup I checked that same area and it seemed to work just fine. Have you tried the trick of changing the input source to HDMI on the video fidelity settings? I wonder if you manually adjust your input to 1440p if it will allow HDR at 1440p.
@@BainCustom I've tried many different configurations on the xbox menus and the monitor but after looking at the information screen for my G7 it shows HDR disabled for every mode except in 4k 60 settings. I have browsed through reddit forums and the consensus was that the Xbox only implements HDR in 4k and SDR for the rest. Does 1440p / HDR show up in your monitor's info screen when your playing a game? I've tried your method and noticed when i manually set to hdmi in the xbox display options it cannot do 1440p @ 120 so i left it on auto.
For the purpose of this video I am only showcasing that the capability is there. Weather you receive 120 Hertz or not would be a different video. Although I'm not sure how much it would matter unless we discuss variable refresh rate, because it would be the same for pretty much every Xbox series X. Nice call out though. Because that is something to consider.
Thanks for clarifying! Apologies, not trying to call you out, I just wanted to clarify because I have a 1440p/144hz AOC monitor and I’m on the fence about buying a series x vs building a PC. My goal is 120fps gaming at 1440p resolution. Thanks again for the informative video!
@@christopherpalines5981 it’s not locked by no means . I fluctuates between 90 and 120 FPS .. digital foundry did a FPS test on their channel if you want to see the benchmarks . Still with freesync enabled , that fixes the frame pacing issues which is awesome for a console .
Love the monitor only issue is trying to get VRR enabled while on 1440p at 120hz. Series x allows me to do it at 1080 120hz but when I try and put it to 1440p it grays variable refresh rate. You know a fix to this?
Yeah the monitor is pretty much 100% up until this point. But check out this video if you are looking for a monitor that can do VRR. ua-cam.com/video/SUAF_sfMhd8/v-deo.html
Hey, so if i bought the Series S and a 1440p 120Hz gaming monitor, do i need this monitor to have a HDMI 2.0 slot? In the specs for the monitor it just mentions HDMI input, I thought as long as it's 1440p and 120Hz I could just plug the Series S in and play 120fps @ 1440p??
What monitor did you buy? There is a chance it is console ready and will run at 1440p 120hz no problem, but if it is older and/or only has HDMI 1.4 than it will not run 1440p 120hz.
I play a series s and have a 4ktv. Would you recommend I stay on 4K? Also 120 doesn’t look or feel very good with 4K enabled using my current setup. Why?
What tv do you have? I guess it would depend on the model and specs. It could be the tv or it could be the settings. Let me know and maybe I can help. Thanks for the comment 👍
When I turn off "Allow 4K" you have 1440p + 120 Hz + VRR on my monitor but NO HDR. MS has locked HDR to 4K ONLY. On PS5 you have HDR with 1080p, 1440p and 2160p. That should be the same on the Series X.
My answer is that it depends. I have a great playlist of different gaming monitors on the channel. I would recommend checking that out. For the money if the MSI seems like what you want for gaming then go for it. But there are options I would probably recommend over it.
I’m not sure what to do, I bought an lg 27gl850 thats1440p and 144hz. But when I try to do 1440 and 120 frames on my series x settings it just says the resolution isn’t supported with the current Refresh rate . Like yours said in the video. But I noticed yours magically popped to 1440p and mine isn’t . Any ideas ?
Hey thanks for commenting. I did cover one way to enable the 120 hertz. The way outlined in the video is to uncheck the box that says allow 4K. Now you also have to make sure that all variable refresh rate is turned off on the monitor. The second way of enabling 120 hertz is to change your bit depth on the Xbox from 10 bit to 8 bit. let me know if any of these are a combination of these work.
My monitor is a lg 35" ultra wide with built in speakers, using an Xbox series x. Do i still need an external speaker to gain sound ? As i have zero sound without using a headset. Tia
Have you got a 2.0 cable plugged in to you LG? I have the same monitor and the same settings selected but i dont have an option to change fps unless im on 1080.
I have a gigabyte m27q 170hz 1440p monitor which is connected to my pc and xbox series s and i still cant get 1440p on it, anyway to fix? It makes my games look pretty bad and i cant fix it
Very simple. Uncheck the allow 4k in the Xbox menus and you will be good to go. Use this video for reference, but no need to do all of the steps. ua-cam.com/video/hAGALLZbiPw/v-deo.html

That is definitely a decent monitor for your upgrade path. I have a playlist of monitors on the channel, most of which are 1440p monitors and will work well with the series x. I would definitely say to watch some of those before buying. But you can't go wrong with that monitor.
That's exactly why I made this video. I knew HDMI 2.1 was going to be expensive and potentially not worth spending a ton of extra money on. Just running 1440p and you will be doing well until you can get something different.
TechCessory i just bought the series x yesterday, but my 4ktv is only support hdmi 2.0 at 60hz, when i tried to use the hdmi 2.1 it wont display the 4k60hz. Please rply thanks. and by the way can the series x enhance the performance even if my 4ktv is its in hdmi 2.0 at 4k60hz?
Hey thanks for the question and welcome to the channel! It really depends on the model when it comes to better performance. Does the tv have a game mode or any other gaming features? Generally speaking you can probably get 4k HDR, but comparing to previous gen consoles performance to what you are getting right now...it is very similar because of the bottlekneck at the TV.

Hey that is amazing! Yeah anything that is 120hz compatible and HDMI 2.0 should support that. But good find and good buy from 2019!.
Can you tell what TV do you have?
I have a question, I have a Philips 278E8QJAB / 00 monitor. Will he be able to handle xsx? Will I have to change to a better monitor? And one more question, if I have to change, can it be Samsung C27G55TQWR 1ms 144Hz
The #1 thing you need to know is what HDMI version your monitor has. Then you need to know if that monitor has a VESA standard 120hz and not something like 119.6hz. With those two features, you should be able to get 1080p 120hz & 1440p 120hz. So make sure the samsung offers that if yours does not and you are good to go.
Can we gain 1440p 120hz with the HDMI 2.1 model? I thought we could only win on HDMI 3.0 models. I will be happy if you answer my question.

I have the 55” and 65” Sony A8G and was wondering about this exact thing! 🙏
Solid TV! You can get 1440p too with some adjustment to the Xbox settings. (Changing the source input, in fidelity settings, to HDMI only).
Thanks for the comment! Welcome to the channel!
I can only get 1080p 120hz but not 1440p 120hz only at 60hz on the Sony A8g. I've tried everything and it seems I'll have to use 1080p 120hz.

Check your fidelity settings on the Xbox menu. You should be able to change your input to HDMI only and it should then allow you to choose resolution and refresh rate.

Hey thanks for commenting. There's definitely an ongoing debate about displays at the moment. Personally I think the jump to 120hz is probably the largest jump, gaming-wise, that has happened in this generation....so far!
Personally I would probably go with something that's 1440p and 144hz.
If you 4k hdtv has a game mode, it might help you tremendously with input lag from controller to screen.
Yes certain TV's do and it would absolutely help. Auto game mode on TV's is good for that. Unfortunately, my tv does not have that function.

Does 1440p / HDR show up in your monitor's info screen when your playing a game?

@@BainCustom thanks bro, i figured it out. My 4ktv does not support hdr and gaming mode. now i used the hdmi 2.0..bro i saw and noticed the big diff. Between my xbox one and series x. It feels so smooth like gaming pc. Very powerful even my 4ktv only does 60hz my series x upgraded it. You were right bro. Thanks
