Andrew, I recently dusted off the acorn I bought a while back and I've been following this mini series. However the one issue I have when connecting from the Host end(linux) is that the XDMA driver fails to recognize the hardware using the ./load_driver script as found the in the xilinx XMDA/linux_driver/tests/ directory. Did you have a similar issue when getting started?
You need to have a bit file with the correct vendor and device id for the PCIe xdma. The SQRL acorn default bit file will not work. Look at the litefury github for some examples. I can post a video about generating a basic xdma bit file if you are interested.
This tutorial is great, currently learning on how DMA works using screamer m.2 with xilinx chip.
