    Loving it. After that rebuild, a good roof rack, a roof tent, a set of BF Goodrich tyres and then overland around the UK, to test the new equipment!!! 😄😄

    Good seeing an old Type 2 still earning its keep. I had a ‘71 for 21 years and once hauled many loads of brick and granite with it down on the suspension stops.

    Those lads sure know what they are doing and its great to see you mucking in but not trying to be clever. Nowt wrong with asking silly questions!
    A bit surprised the chassis was not dropped out and sent off for blasting and coating / painting. For sure the body mounts will need replacing. Just having done so much great work that surprise me. Not saying its wrong but ....
    Subbed and liked!

      No, not a soft dash, which I prefer. I have the long wheel base and the car is currently not starting. Typical😁 Keeping one of these running really is a long term commitment. I am planning to use mine for road trips with a roof top tent. Looking forward to seeing what you do with yours.

    You should have bought new innerwings. At Froggatts. Keeping original steel, haha. Its now a complete puzzle under the bonnet. Take yje wings off and fit new innerwings.

    • @stevebooker
      @stevebooker  3 роки тому

      New wings are patent wings and the fit is never as good as original, you can spend days faffing around with trying to get the the fit like the original. This is a restoration so we are trying to keep as much of the original vehicle as possible. In terms of a puzzle under the bonnet, this isn’t patch welded, it’s rebuilt so it will have the same look as it did when it came out of the factory, not a puzzle. Keep following along and watch the progress on this to see what I mean.

    Loving the videos Steve. Would love if you included costings, if it's not being nosey. Purchase price + labour + parts, would be good to get some idea, for anyone thinking of doing something similar. I can only imagine there are some pretty big bills. I just bought a very good condition 2002 L322, but it's still going to cost me €2,500 - €3,000 to do little bits to the body and change some lights and interior bits. Good luck with the rest of the project.
