Yeah, I remember stumbling across it in 1.0 and it was a very nice surprise. No giant markers or anything and you simply find it through actually exploring. Same thing with the Murkmobile. Now every 'secret' has been exposed with a giant "LOOK OVER HERE!" marker; which really makes it feel much less of a surprise imo. CDPR really needs to bring back these hidden secrets and actually keep them hidden instead of just showing them all on the map. Keeping them hidden entices exploration of every nook and cranny whilst showing them all on a map just entices quick teleporting and nothing else. At least Guts didn't have a giant "LOOK HERE!" marker and was somewhat hidden. That made it an interesting find; especially given how that area was their last stand against Arasaka and Smasher.
Guts is cool but I spent most of my childhood and a considerable portion of my adult life waiting for it to reload. My favorite iconic is probably the Errata katana. No matter what other weapon I get, I always come back to it. I can't get enough dismemberment and lighting people (and corpses) on fire. Good thing it's just a videogame
Fenrir and Buzzsaw are my favourite iconics. Running both with the reflex ability that whenever you switch smgs it automatically reloads them and just mag dump every gonk in your way.
I traded the Malorian for Her Majesty. Generally Unity pistols are the best overall guns, and Her Majesty is the best of the only two iconic ones. Also Erebus is probably my fav weapon of all, period! In terms of shotguns, the regular Testera beats Guts by a very good margin, but not the iconic variant because it sets you on fire. A regular Testera at max level equipped with the iconic mod for exploding bullets is almost as evil as Erebus.

And this is why I didn't return Skippy my second playthrough and beyond. Note as long as you tell Skippy you'll return him he doesn't get angry. No mattet how long you keep him. That being said he doesn't scale very well damage wise.
I guess it was more something CDPR implemented quickly so that people could still get the gun back after giving it to Regina. Initially in 1.0 Regina wouldn't give it back after you give her the gun, resulting in an empty spot on your gun wall. You also couldn't put it on your wall at all unless the quest was marked as complete with your refusal but then Skippy would get stuck on saying "BAD USER!" all the time. So that's likely why a lot of people who kept the gun were annoyed by the "BAD USER!" comments. So now at least people can get it back in order to complete their wall, even though it kinda sucks that the AI is no longer on it. Would have been cool if the guy had put an older version of the AI on it with more limited interactions or something; but I guess this was the best CDPR could come up with in a short amount of time.
Guts is my favorite. The sound is just perfect, I love the grinding it makes. Damage is great to and it's an absolute blast to use 😋, but I love great sound design.
Guts is my go-to shotgun for going loud. (I’ve already upgraded it to Tier 4+). I am currently on my first run, and I plan on going after Smasher with it being one of my weapons.
Skippy is actually a side quest that shows up as a yellow marker anyways so it’s not something you have to worry about just coming across when exploring

My personal favorite iconic is Johnny’s pistol it has good mag capacity great fire rate and hits like a revolver meaning you’ll typically drop an enemy in one too three body shots or one headshot and even if you don’t one shot them it does enough damage to stagger them for follow up shots Plus it’s just cool
Don't forget. When using Skippy, use the opposite mode you actually want for the first dozen kills. Skippy changes modes on you after and you'll have the one you actually want for the remainder of your playthrough
I did an entire run built around gorilla arms, a Sandevistan, and Guts. It was a lot of fun. Activating the Sandevistan and blasting my way through an entire group of enemies with Guts was awesome.
God, GUTS is so good. It has no mod or attachment slots. But it comes with everything needed. A huge knockback buff, good armor penetration/spread/damage, fat pellet count. Gotta say, it is the most shotgun "shotgun" in cyberpunk. Chunky, heavy, and devastating
There is something of a workaround to compensate a bit for the insane recoil. There's some cyberware called "Shock Absorber" that reduces recoil by 24% at max tier and it really helps with a shotgun like Guts. 😃 There's also another piece of cyberware called "Immovable Force" that goes up to 35% recoil reduction in Phantom Liberty as I recall. Not sure if you can equip both of them at the same time though as I haven't reached Dogtown yet on this character. But even just installing one of them should help out a lot with the recoil; especially when we don't have Rebecca's cool cyberhands that seemingly reduced recoil by 100%.
If you want both of them, i really recommend you get whichever one is your favorite later on because it will for some reason do more damage and you can use it in your current loadout
Mine will forever be Saburo’s iconic katana you can get during The Heist (you just have to go up the stairs and on the roof and kill the 2 Guards before retrieving the katana from the vehicle).
My favorite is definitely Lizzie. Not the best overall, but I love that little helmet popper. I may have to give Guts a try; I'm currently using the "iconic" Crusher from Phantom Liberty, but wouldn't mind a more potent shotty for dropping the tankier foes. (That said, nothing's quite as fun as rolling up to a group of T-Claws on a corner in Watson and chunky salsa'ing their domes with 00 buck.)
Yeah, imo it was kind of as let-down that CDPR put all those markers on the map now. Originally when I stumbled across Skippy it felt like a real achievement. Same thing when finding the Murkmobile. Would have preferred it if CDPR had kept them more secret as a reward for those of us explorers. 🙂
Definitely get guts asap! Its one of the guns in this game that performs with absolute excellence without perks. My fave builds are either netrunner stealth or pistolero type deal, but having guts as a back up is perfect for those moments when the stealth fails.
Info for those who are getting skippy!! So, when you find him, after a talk he will ask you to choose between his two modes (Automatic headshot - lethal/Automatic leg shot - non lethal). Choose the counterpart of the ofrece you want (I mean, if you want lethal choose non lethal and viceversa) this is because after a certain amount of kills, he will automatically change, so you just choose the mode and execute some people with him, eventually you will have the mode you want
Choose puppy mode when you first get Skippy, then do any NCPD Crime (or pick a fight with any gang) side hustle. When he upgrades after 50 "Kills," you'll be grateful you did.
Man I’ve read about guns that have smart bullets in testing phases that take pictures with scopes “that are SUPER ADVANCED BTW,” but it’ll sync with the software in the each individual round and lock in the target then fire a second or sometimes 2 after you pull the trigger but a few seconds later so it’s on point. But wow what I read about its concept was amazing and that was over a decade ago so they probably have some WILD weapons out now especially after watch the rate of fire or some fast machine guns and how far some snipers have hit there target!! It’s all getting better hopefully before this generation gets to old they have more advanced technology that prevents us using weapons at all and we can just live together in some form of peace and harmony!!
Personal favorite is the problem solver smg. It just shreds everything and with some upgrades for recoil management, all you have to worry about is keepimg that ammo supply coming in.
I just found that in the cimetery in the game all of the name of edgerunner's team is in there and it's sooooo emotional (that's in the silverhand end)
My fav iconic is always gonna be Widow Maker, ofc Johny's Malorian and a sniper rifle which you can win from a guy in Arroyo (this boxing thing quest can't remember the name)
I always keep Guts in my third weapon slot for the inevitable face-off with Smasher. Defeating him with a katana, then pulling out Guts would probably shock him 😉
I love Archangel and the Dying Night pistols. The Mox is probably my favorite shotgun, also Judy is my favorite romance. Always get Guts but the recoil ruins it for me. Panam's sniper is pretty swiggity, carried me through some tough parts.
There is some cyberware to help with the recoil. "Shock Absorber" reduces it by 24% at max tier while "Immovable Force" can reduce it by 35% (that one is only sold in Dogtown though). When I first got Guts the recoil really put me off but after installing that "Shock Absorber" cyberware it became much more manageable. 🙂
Guts is my favourite weapon in the whole game even disregarding the weapons background, i love the weight and feel of it. I used it almost exclusively on a nomad sandy shotgun build i ran for phantom liberty it was so fun
My fave iconic? Buzzsaw. With the right optics, you can see enemies behind walls and then use Buzzsaw to shoot through and deal big damage. I also love Comrade's Hammer.

I will always love Jackie's Pistols I took that gun with me the entire game when I found it it's gold finish was the exact opposite of my drab and dark clothing but I like to think part of him is still in the gun so we can go to the major leagues together
I really loved the fact that you could put a silencer on Jackie's gun and that you got two of them. So I could put one on my Stash wall while still carrying the other with me on gigs. 🙂
Currently my male Nomad V is running around with Guts as his main weapon (in addition to the Malorian). Guts really kicks like a mule and it's the first time I installed that cyberware which reduces recoil by 22% (or something like that). That cyberware definitely helps out a LOT! 😃
I have logged 500 hours on this game and i still blast my headphones and just keep driving when that one song comes on doesnt matter what i was trying to do
Literally on my 4th run and there’s allot I’m doing now that I didn’t do my first play through , the update 2.0 was a game changer and really cleaned up the skill trees so someone with ADHD like myself can now handle reading things without being overwhelmed.
My fav gotta be that one Smart smg that causes emps every couple shots and simce it shoots SO fast and has so many bullets it can easily kill a whole group in seconds
What’s sad about Guts is that. It’s there in the same location where it fell from Rebecca’s hands when Adam Smasher did her in. I found this shotty by pure coincidence. I once used it for a movement technique where I would spin midair and shoot myself twice as far to cross massive gaps

Man I’ve read about guns that have smart bullets in testing phases that take pictures with scopes “that are SUPER ADVANCED BTW,” but it’ll sync with the software in the each individual round and lock in the target then fire a second or sometimes 2 after you pull the trigger but a few seconds later so it’s on point. But wow what I read about its concept was amazing and that was over a decade ago so they probably have some WILD weapons out now especially after watch the rate of fire or some fast machine guns and how far some snipers have hit there target!! It’s all getting better hopefully before this generation gets to old they have more advanced technology that prevents us using weapons at all and we can just live together in some form of peace and harmony!!
I love that Brazilian assasins revolver. Unique silencer, high damage. And you keep your stealth bonuses for a few seconds after combat initiates

Personal favorite is the problem solver smg. It just shreds everything and with some upgrades for recoil management, all you have to worry about is keepimg that ammo supply coming in.
I just found that in the cimetery in the game all of the name of edgerunner's team is in there and it's sooooo emotional (that's in the silverhand end)
The tech sniper from the dlc and johnny’s pistol are my favorites. Also been using the maxtach mantis blades and those are also reallly good
Becca shotgun has a secret feature, if you jump from a high place if you timed right, you can shoot guts on the air to avoid fall damage.
My fav iconic is always gonna be Widow Maker, ofc Johny's Malorian and a sniper rifle which you can win from a guy in Arroyo (this boxing thing quest can't remember the name)
Guts is an ace gun, I used it for most/all of my playthrough, I put the mod on it that reduces the recoil and it still packed a punch
I always keep Guts in my third weapon slot for the inevitable face-off with Smasher. Defeating him with a katana, then pulling out Guts would probably shock him 😉
I love Archangel and the Dying Night pistols. The Mox is probably my favorite shotgun, also Judy is my favorite romance. Always get Guts but the recoil ruins it for me. Panam's sniper is pretty swiggity, carried me through some tough parts.
The recoil? It’s the eternity reloading and firing that kills it for me.
More blam blam= more chance of obliterate triggering.
There is some cyberware to help with the recoil. "Shock Absorber" reduces it by 24% at max tier while "Immovable Force" can reduce it by 35% (that one is only sold in Dogtown though).
When I first got Guts the recoil really put me off but after installing that "Shock Absorber" cyberware it became much more manageable. 🙂
Guts is my favourite weapon in the whole game even disregarding the weapons background, i love the weight and feel of it. I used it almost exclusively on a nomad sandy shotgun build i ran for phantom liberty it was so fun
My fave iconic? Buzzsaw. With the right optics, you can see enemies behind walls and then use Buzzsaw to shoot through and deal big damage. I also love Comrade's Hammer.

Wish Widow Maker performed better. Feels great, like a long range shotgun, but sadly, falls well behind on Very Hard.

I will always love Jackie's Pistols I took that gun with me the entire game when I found it it's gold finish was the exact opposite of my drab and dark clothing but I like to think part of him is still in the gun so we can go to the major leagues together
I really loved the fact that you could put a silencer on Jackie's gun and that you got two of them. So I could put one on my Stash wall while still carrying the other with me on gigs. 🙂

The best part about Guts the shotgun is that she only climbs in damage the more you level up

Currently my male Nomad V is running around with Guts as his main weapon (in addition to the Malorian). Guts really kicks like a mule and it's the first time I installed that cyberware which reduces recoil by 22% (or something like that). That cyberware definitely helps out a LOT! 😃

Does the quickhack spread if the enemy dies? Because they die so quickly.
Katana and knife you get during the big heist are so good. Yeet the dagger, what doesnt die instant gets cut

Literally on my 4th run and there’s allot I’m doing now that I didn’t do my first play through , the update 2.0 was a game changer and really cleaned up the skill trees so someone with ADHD like myself can now handle reading things without being overwhelmed.
My fav gotta be that one Smart smg that causes emps every couple shots and simce it shoots SO fast and has so many bullets it can easily kill a whole group in seconds

What’s sad about Guts is that. It’s there in the same location where it fell from Rebecca’s hands when Adam Smasher did her in. I found this shotty by pure coincidence. I was intrigued by those monks near by and I found it. I thought why’s it in the bush? Only to realize that it was there since her death. No one picked it up. 💔
