10 years too late to respond to this I guess but I prefer this version of the conversation. Where he acts like he's speaking on equal terms with Half-Jaw, in the reworked scene The Arbiter's body language makes it seem like the Arbiter doesn't care if he dies either, and he's just self pitying. I guess it could be said that he feels immense shame from the failure to protect Halo and he just wants to die honorably but idk, I liked the original tone better.

Alex Cregan he already had a story before halo 4, its just the games had a different interpretation. He lacked character, not story. He had bits but wasn’t really fleshed out, just the strong silent type which is very unique for a series.

this arbiter storyline makes you realize that the elites are'nt just genocidal monsters, but sentient biengs capable of thinking for themselves (as the arbiter and heratic proves) and caring for each other (like the shipmaster cares for his men).in that respect they turn out to be more human than first thought. I like that.

The problem I found with the halo 1-3 and ODST and Reach, was that it was confined to human, Covenant war. The main lore of halo, the forerunners the war with us back then, and then the original flood war which caused the to build the halo's was blocked off. I like my stories and no matter what people say, Halo till this day was founded on the story element with the multilayer a nice add on. With 343 opening up the story, it gives you more content to emerse yourself again in the entire legend

basically: if you look at it this way, the human ships where meant to help aid in ground engagement, of course they could be used for space engagement. but their weapons were a little more...primitive than the covenants and the covenant had this, plasma technology and shielding so it's kind of a no duh that they won space. but on ground, the humans where use to fighting on ground so they had the upper hand there.

First off play the first Mass Effect if you haven't already so your choices and character can carry over to Mass Effect 2 and 3. For Mass Effect 2 make sure you have the council alive from the first game, and make sure you do ALL the loyalty quests for each squad member. Also upgrade alot, especially the Normandy. For Mass Effect 3, before the final battle against the Reapers make sure your Galactic Readiness is at 100%. I did it at about 50% and it wasn't as easy to do as 100% obviously.

Technically because of his inability to prevent the destruction of the first halo, he didn't have one because the Elites' culture doesn't allow dishonourable people to have names. However, ignoring that his name is Thel 'Vadam. When he was with the Covenant his name was Thel 'Vadamee - the "ee" suffix is added when they join the military. After the Elites left the Covanent his name reverted to Thel 'Vadam.

@AlaskanWhalers Months after Halo 2? I was almost more than certain it was directly after. The Chief was in the back of Truth's ship as it was heading towards Earth. That's how Halo 2 ended, and that's how Halo 3 began.
Not to mention the Halo 3 campaign was supposed to just be the end of Halo 2, but Bungie didn't have enough time to finish the game.

Sam had a hole in his suit caused by a plasma bolt and then the team realized that he wouldn't be able to survive with oxygen leaking out, so instead of the team going through space and letting him die on leaking breath he basically "Sacrificed" himself inside the Covenant ship by exploding the entire ship from the inside while leaving the rest of the team the chance to escape. You know... technically he didn't have a better choice anyway, so I guess it's hard to tell.

Also, not all the flood was destroyed supposedly, only the main Gravemind. But I do not know who the enemy will be in Halo 4. I'm sure as time passes we'll be told in trailers and interviews.

They were stronger than the Covenant because they were protecting Earth, home of mankind, almost every UNSC Ship was stationed there for defence and also the Covenant did not know that Earth was even there thus had a very small force attacking Earth.
