Console Pro-Tip: To sort the quickslot, empty your tools into a different container, then re-add them to your inventory in the order you want them to appear in your quickslot. On PC you can just click and drag items into the slot you want. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
A not-that-naive UA-cam gamer with Thalassophobia has signed on with Alterra. Will the many things that "want a piece of him" get the upper hand? I will say up front that more Thalassophobics have "gotten Alterra's bill" than other players. Note: some large animals are harmless, and some small animals are dangerous. Keep exploring, you have much to learn. Scan everything and READ the information gathered.
The Path Finder Tool is a must have item before exploring caves or complex wrecks. You can leave a trail of lighted discs to help you more easily find your way back out. You can also carry two oxygen tanks to extend your deep dives, just make sure both are filled before you dive.. You just switch them when the first one runs out.. I love this game, it's so much find to see others rediscovering it...
Good to know! That will definitely help with the thalassophobia a bit! The next couple episodes have already been pre-recorded, but I'll make use of that advice going forward! Make sure to stay tuned for the continuation of this series!
Scott Cortmeister Disagreed. I never use the pathfinder tool, its one of the useless items in the game alongside the air pump and pipes. Orientation in the caves is super easy, especially in the small caves at the beginning of the game. A second oxygen tank might sound like a good idea in theory, but it comes with a massive downside: It blocks 6 inventory space for 30 seconds of air (90 for the high capacity tank). And inventory space is way too valuable for that.
@@HH-hd7nd Valid points for sure... I didn't need the pathfinder until I did, on one huge wreck with twisting tunnels and deceptive designs meant to disorient you and since I was playing on hard I lost everything from a miscalculation. So I decided after that that any big wrecks or big complex cave systems I would always use the Pathfinder. You probably have better reflexes, spacial awareness and memory than I do, being that I'm a 60 year old gamer... For most people the PF tool is not necessary but for the easily confused (like me), it was a must have. There's that part where you can go to the jelly shroom caves but you don't have a lot of time with your air tank, in that part of the game I found the two tank strategy good just to get diamonds. It does take up too much room in your inventory, I use it as a temporary strategy until I can upgrade to the ultra lightweight tank.
For the quick slot stuff I recommend taking all tools and that stuff out of inventory (in locker or something) and putting it in order you want/need. I play on PS4 and it's really annoying. It goes left to right or to any available slot. On PC you can pick where it goes with numbers but no suck luck for us counsel player

You probably figured it out by now, but there is a button to holster/put away whatever item is in your hand. And when you have two free hands, you swim faster. Also, the fins/flippers speed you up a little bit too. And it's fairly easy to get the ingredients for the Seaglide, which makes you a lot faster. In terms of going up to the surface faster, there is an "ascend" (as well as a "descend") button as well. These can be useful when you want to go up for air, but don't want to lose your place, and want to go back down to the exact same spot again. For example, if there was a particular tunnel you wanted to keep exploring, or a particular wreck or debris pile you wanted to go back to ..... using the acscend/descend buttons will help you return to the precise spot. Anyway, entertaining video!
You should read the PDA entries from time to time - the scans give you valuable information. And a lot of flavour text for world building. Oh and just fyi - you swim faster when your hands are empty. PS: You can kill all creatures in the game with one and a half exceptions, however killing the wildlife is not the purpose of the game. That's why they didn't include weapons, you are supposed to avoid dangerous creatures, not kill them. However if you really want to kill them there are several options. PPS: To kill a Stalker with the survival knife you have to stab it 15 times btw (Stalkers have 300 HP, the survival knife deals 20 damage). However be carefull - the bite attack of the Stalkers deals 30 damage and you only have 100 HP which means you're dead the 4th time a Stalker hits.
You have the right personality for this game.
This game has become a timeless classic. No matter how many hours I put into it, I always want to come back to it after a break.
Truth
Oh shit did I just find another small UA-camr start subnautica 😝😝😝
Binge watching rn fr

It feels good to find a playthrough that has the same vibes as my first time. It just sends nostalgia..

really enjoy watching someone discover this game, smiling along to it
Literally everyone grabs a ton of acid mushrooms.
Yeah.. I've seen only two playthroughs where they *didn't* do that.
"It can all burn for all I care."
Everything above water was already burning at the start of the game.
😉

"it can all burn for all i care!" tad difficult maybe with all that water
I''m enjoying this because your terror is forcing you to respect the game.>:)

Don't forget to subscribe to keep up to date on this playthrough!
It’s funny cause I also play this game and I also have a fear of deep oceans, I only assume the jump scares get more real as the series goes on 😂

Just a tip. when you scan stuff hit tab and scroll to the bottom. It will tell you if stuff has a use.
As someone who has played this game with a controller, I feel your pain
In a game where you swim in water, you get annoyed at having to come up for air.
I started yesterday had the game a long time but was to scared to play because of deep water still bit scared going 500m deep and thats only the start

I tried it hit it 50 times dude didnt die
@@JayceeVoZuriused the thrift shop knife 😂
I think you are either lying about that phobia or I have it worse then you and am not diagnosed Either way this game eventually becomes fun
To be fare, it is a deep ocean.I fear not the shallow water of a beach But I do not think I could Scubative And definitely not by myself
No facecam?
You can swim faster with no tool in your hands 😁
