So happy for some foraging, its been a while!
Sadly the weather has stopped us doing a lot of things this winter
In my youth I was a trawlerman on Skye and I never lost the fascination for the oddities the nets and dredges would fetch up. Likewise rock pools were an endless source of interest. I'm so pleased to have found your channel because you always seem to have the gleam in your eyes when you get a day on or by the water. I really love that you are passing that passion down to your family too. Much respect and kindest regards from Scotland.
Without question, teaching our children about the natural world around us has been one of my life’s greatest joys. I am glad that you enjoy joining us and have a wonderful day. 😊🦞
Ahh, I've missed the shoreline videos! Thanks for braving the weather! Glad you got a good reward for all of your trials.
Thanks mate. Sadly the bad weather has really slowed us down with the foraging videos.
There’s always a silver lining, you GOT THE LOBSTER 🦞 👍🏻 plus some nice fishing accessories 🎣
Aye mate. Won in the end. 🤣🦞
As I said before, your our Monty Don of the sea . Very educational to watch . The roar of the sea , the white horses breaking outside, the sunshine on the water. You never fail to entertain and teach . 👏👏👏
I do love the coast.
@@TheFishLocker You’re extremely fortunate to live where you are , and love what you do . All the best 🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪
Oh yay! Boyfriend looked at me confused when I got excited at the notification. Fish Locker Foraging time! I love following you along the shore!
Haha. No jealousy required. 😊🦞
The video was very educational and relaxing at the same time. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us. It's great that you took the rubbish with you and disposed of it, so our world stays clean for our descendants. Warm greetings from Germany.
It doesn’t take much but every little bit helps.
Im always stunned with how pretty those lobsters are!
Beautiful arent they. 😊🦞
A walk on the shore is always a good day. 🇺🇸
I agree.
Dear John, thank you so much for your videos! I found your channel when I had a really tough period of my life, and your videos helped me to cope with my anxieties so so much! Thank you so much for what you do🌼 Greetings from Russia :)
Hello Sandra, I am so very glad to hear that our videos have helped you. Welcome to our channel if I haven’t said it already and have a wonderful day 😊🦞
Thank you for the foraging video, I'd love to try that someday! Good catch, I hope you all enjoyed it. Best wishes to you 😊
Thank you Stacy and have a wondeful day. 😊🦞
Been missing the rockpooling vids. They always fill me with so much serenity. I am also very impressed with how well you can identify all these species so quickly. :)
Thank you, I also find them very cathartic.
I used to work the southeast beaches pumping lug worm and collecting razor claims, cockles, and mussels. I find your videos very helpful and informative. Thanks a lot
My pleasure.
Can't beat a Sunday upload after a roast dinner!
Had a cracker today. Pork and chicken 👍
Sunday tradition
👏 these are my favorite videos to watch. They’re so calming and relaxing. I get giddy like a kid on Christmas morning when I see a new foraging video posted.
Currently watching wrapped up in a blanket with a cup of hot tea ☕️ 😌
We have a couple more lined up. Over the next couple of weeks. 😉🦞
Never a better way to start a monday morning than a tide pooling vid.
Have a great week 👍🏻🦞
These are my favourite videos! Love learning about all the different species you see on and around the tide line and then getting to see and learn how to cook what you find. Another great video John, thanks!!
My pleasure Scott, have a good one mate.
I don't know why these are my favourite videos. So soothing.
I find them really relaxing too.
I agree. They are very soothing .. I ove foraging and exploring it too myself
My favourite also 🙂

@@thefishlocker he's the dude always brilliant videos my favourite UA-camr by far 🤟🏻🎣🦞
Oh I'm so excited to see some foraging 😁😁
I also really appreciate that you make your videos educational. Thanks so much for doing what you do John👍👍
No problem at all Ryan.
Yet another exceptional video, entertaining, educational and yet so pleasantly entertaining. How you can identify so much in such a short time baffles me. Very well done John, thank you so much, from a Scottish Solway amateur who still practices the art of "soggy sleeves" plus regular "soggy wellies" almost each and every time out!
Thank you so much.
This is what I love doing. I remember what things are just from years of doing it. 😊🦞
From someone who lives inland that was great to join you on the coast catching the lobster wasn’t bad either Thank you 👍👍
Glad you enjoyed joining me. 🦞
Thank you John.
My pleasure.
I really enjoy these adventures.
Thank you.
Love the positive mindset when you got the lobster "If it could go wrong, it did, but I got it! And a new weight for the weight belt". Hunt the good stuff in life, even during the bad!
If you have a positive mindset positive situations present themselves. I am a true believer in that.
Bingo kept watching today John. I went foraging today but for vegetables. Thank you so much for posting. Regards to family, greetings from Cyprus. 🙏🙏🦞🦞🦀🦀👍👍
Have a wonderful day Jacqui.
Thank you for sharing. Have a wonderful week
You too. 😊🦞
Its amazing to see the different things that grow on the Rocks etc, and as always brilliantly explained what theyre named, Brilliant insight John, Thankyou.
My pleasure David. 👍🏻🦞
Nice to be back on the shoreline John , it was only last night that my 7yr old daughter and I were sorting out our clipboards and bingo sheets for our next wonder on the rock pools 👍🏼, I love the anticipation of lifting a rock to see what’s under it. Lovely lobster made the wet arms worth it mate . appreciate your efforts 🦞👍🏼
Good luck with the bingo. 👍🏻🦞🦀
love that accent that smile and these videos thank you !
Thank you very much. 😊🦞
Just as you mentioned John, with a small net, a bucket and maybe a bit better weather, this would be fantastic for kids to see, feel and learn what they can find in the shallows. Thanks for the video. Going to do this with my grandson. I am sure he will like it. ps...very nice lobster, enjoy my friend. Greetz from Stipo
Best wishes to you and your family my friend.
Nice to see you back having a rummage on the coast ! I'm getting rather good at identifying the seaweeds , crabs etc . Cheers John 😉👍🏴
It’s been painful this winter with all the poor weather. We just couldn’t do anything.
Great stuff John. Missed the foraging 😊
The weathers just been horrible mate
@TheFishLocker you're not wrong john . Safety first . And if anyone knows about the weather and tides . Its you . 👏👍

Your knowledge is incredible👍🏽👌🏼🏴
Thank you.
Great fun ! Very interesting, thanks very much 👍 🦞
My pleasure Stuart.
It's always good to go over old tips and tidal effects John, you never know who will take learnings from it. Its been a great mix of video content this last couple of months. Great for the grey matter and feel good factor👌
Every video is potentially someone’s first video. 😉🦞
Just had lamb to eat but now I'd love some lobster. Love this time of year when you go out foraging.
Me too. Have a lovely day Susan.
So happy I found this channel, what an amazing video, its so beautiful out there on the coast. Learned so many things. 10/10!
Thank you and welcome to our channel. 😊🦞
FANTASTIC LOBSTER!! the coloration was gorgeous!
Beautiful arent they.
I have to further comment and say your videos are so educational it's unreal I don't eat fish or seafood but love mushroom foraging and fishing for hobbies but I'm learning so much here all the years I've been subbed
Well I am very glad to hear it. I always hope that the videos we make help people, wether that is through education or simply positive escapism. 😊
Best videos these are John! I absolutely love rockpooling! My best ever find was a huge shanny! Well, it was till it gave me a hell of a nip!
Haha. They do have a big bite on them don’t they.
Superb, as always. Informative, interesting and environmentally friendly! Thanks. 👍
My pleasure.
Great to see you back on the beach foraging again John.🦞.

Great to see you doing what you love. 😊

I admire the relationship you have with your son in your videos, plus the way you identify the various edible Seaweeds, Thanks.
My pleasure Grant.
Great video as always John, love it when you go foraging.

Really enjoy your vids fella. I live literally right by the river crouch. I go fishing often but now i take my 2 young boys out rock pooling because f your vids. We love it, thanks to your vids. Keep up the good work mate.
It is our pleasure.😊🎣
You certainly know your stuff , nice to see you explain the correct way to despatch the lobster , for years i would holiday with a friend up on mull , out in his tiny boat , mainly mackeral saithe and pollock , or may be a ling or a codling if you were lucky , my friend is no longer with us but good times all the same ! really enjoy your vids , keep them coming
Sounds like you had some great fishing trips.
Great inspiration to get me back out foraging down north bay Scarborough,i only live less than 400meters from sea so no excuse for me not to.cheers for great video 👍
Good luck.
Love your foraging videos!
Thank you Julie.
Growing up in Hartlepool in the 50’ & 60’s, going ‘down the rocks’ was a way of life. Last year, me and my pals had the world Blenny fishing championship, on the same rocks. And I won! You never grow out of it, do you?
I grew up doing it too. 😊🦞
I love it when you put the scientific names up, really appreciate the effort.
When you're picking the lobster have you tried the rolling pin trick on the legs? Start at the "toes" and roll up, the wee morsels of meat come out like a tube of toothpaste. Fun and satisfying to watch. 👍
My pleasure. 🦞
Excellent show. many thanks
Glad you enjoyed it MIchael.
@@TheFishLocker. Are there recipes that can use fresh seaweed and seafood, to show how foraging could make a meal on the beach? I watched a lad from Wales doing cooky progs, like that, but he disappeared, a few years back
Very enjoyable and interesting to watch ! Many thanks for sharing Sir .
My pleasure my friend.
John, I love your VLOGS. They share so much interesting information. In Australia, one has to be careful of several creatures, in particular, the Blue Ringed Octopus. This very small octopus might be tiny, but it is one of the most deadly creatures in the world.
You have some truly amazing wildlife over there
thanks to you my day is so much better
I am glad we could help. 😊
@@TheFishLocker 😃☺
Beautiful blue coloring. Surprised you found such a large one so close to shore.
This wasn’t close in to shore. 👍🏻🦞
Watching from new zealand. Love your videos. Thank you
Thank you Richard.
Might be boring for some but I could watch a whole video about how the tides are influenced by the weather and how it can affect your fishing, great stuff again JL 👍
Thank you.
I think it would be interesting to see a full meal that was fully foraged. Would love to see what you would do with the different types of seaweeds and stuff like that.
We have shown that in some videos before.
Brilliant as all ways John 👏
Thanks Terry.
Your wellcome my frend 🙏
Such an amazing variety to your deck of cards good hunting crack on
Thank you.
Thanks John. I love watching your videos. There's so much information in all of them and I live by the seaside vicariously through them. Keep 'em coming.
You are always welcome.
Yes, love this video❤ thanks 🎣
My pleasure. 😊🦞
never knew you could dispatch a lobster like that! Good to know, especially cause i'm squeamish about the typical methods with the knife
This is the most humane I have found. 👍🏻
Eh up John a nice lobster for lunch....you have such a great life, love to all and keep going!
Thank you and have a great day.
Learnt so many things from you. Thanks and great vid as always!
Glad you enjoyed the video Danielle. 😊🦞
I am from Nova Scotia Canada, I live in Calgary, Alberta I love the city buy miss the ocean
I can understand that.
great content as usual, John. and educational!
My pleasure
Wonderful!
love the fishing videos brilliant , that was so informative learned a lot hope you both enjoyed the lobster look forward to the next one cheers
We really enjoyed it. 😊🦞
Your knowledge blows me away. I didn’t see you pick up that buoy with the handle. There is so much life under the rocks, it’s really interesting. When will you start doing crab pots again? Keep them coming John.
When the weather calms down.
Thankyou
😊🦞
Good stuff John
Thanks mate.
Great video John, makes a nice change to see you foraging again. Let’s hope the weather improves soon.
Fingers crossed.
Fabulous video John. I love making seasoned salts with foraged seaweeds, really pack's that umami punch in dishes and salad. Foraging and catch and cooms are my favourite content. All the best and keep up the good work 🎉
Adds a flavour unlike any other doesn’t it.
@TheFishLocker it really does. The thick kelp seaweeds make an excellent broth when simmered down (they call it kombu in japan) discard the actual kelp after simmering. Also fishes wrapped in kelp and fire roasted yumm. So versatile. Again many thanks for your videos John and family
Its been s long time just find these videos so interesting i sure learn alot
Thank you Christine. Have a lovely day.
Love the videos. Mate keep them coming 👍
Glad you like them. 😊👍🏻🦞
Love learning from your videos John especially the foraging ones
Thank you. 😊🦞
Nice video, thx!

Great video as always marra
Cheers Mark.
😀Fascinating
Glad you think so Andy. 😊🦞
Oooh comments! I thought they got turned off! These are my favourite videos, love some foraging
No? There have been comments on the last 10+ videos.
Love the foraging videos! It was actually through a foraging video I found your channel some years ago now. Cheers John.
Thank you, I’m glad you’re still enjoying the videos.
Love these videos John! So interesting & educational. Nice cracking lobster!
Thank you. 🦞
Thank you and your back its been a long time waiting for your new videos😊😊🙂
I have been uploading new videos every week for the last 5 years without fail? Have you not been seeing them?
Nice one John. :)
Glad you enjoyed it
Top vlog.
Thank you.
love ur vids!! and you will get a like! because you are helping to pick up the trash!
Thank you very much. Have a great day. 😊🦞
Fabulous video as always. Highly watchable and really useful and instructive. You really should be on the telly!
Thank you.
Always love watching your videos, but your foraging videos are my favorite mostly because it interests me how “everyday” it is for your area. I live in the mid west of the U.S. so we have plenty of fishing, but no foraging. 👍🏻
I love the coast. I couldn’t live far from it and still be happy I don’t think.
