  • Welcome to 5 Essential Effects for Final Cut Pro! A big thanks to my friends at Motion Array for sponsoring this video. To see why I love Motion Array so much, check it out here: motionarray.com/?artlist_aid=...
In this video, I'll show you how to publish five effects that come with Apple Motion, but aren't native to Final Cut Pro. They are 3 Color Gradient Overlay, Tilt Shift, Extrude, Stroke and Bounce In. If you don't use Motion, snag these effects by joining my Patreon Community here: / jennjager

The big lesson is your enthusiasm for figuring out something that could be somewhat tedious. A colorful presentation as usual!

I have to say this channel is amazing and REFRESHING. I was feeling discouraged with still using FCPX because it is dying in the editing industry and everyone is converting to Davinci. I ve tried Davinci but im comfortable with FCPX and have already paid for so many plugins I dont want to loose my money invested in them.
But to see you are using FCPX in a professional way feels refreshing to know and I feel little more motivated now. Can you discuss more about using FInal cut in a professional field, how clients love the outcome and how you are still getting work and clients by still using Final Cut.
Are you planning to stay with Final Cut with all the buzz and hype of Davinci Resolve?

Most of my clients don't know which NLE we use; they don't ask or care. They only care about the finished result and almost never ask about the actual process. This whole debate about Premiere vs Davinci vs FCP is contrived entirely by editors-- no one else on the planet is worried about it. We get everything done with FCP and my team loves it. What's crazy is that almost no editor we've hired has used Final Cut consistently prior to working for us. One their first day, I sit them down and give them my Final Cut Rock Star and Next Level courses to learn. Within a month almost every one of them has canceled their Premiere subscriptions (that they use for for personal or side projects) and bought FCP. They love how easy it is to use and how affordable it is.
One thing to know is that our FCP apps are loaded with third party plugins, so we don't have the same gripes about the lack of native features (like rotoscoping, for instance) that others have. Still, if you plan on being in this field for a long time, the one time $300 fee + springing for a third party plugin now and again is still cheaper than paying Adobe $30 a month in the long run.
Use whichever app you like! The only thing that matters is what the finished result looks like and if you enjoyed yourself in the process. Dylan Bates @TheFinalCutBro just posted a great video about all this.

Thanks Jen. This is Scotland. Unpredictable weather at the best of times but when we do get a good day, it is glorious. Right now, we get around 23 hours of sunlight (because we're way up north). Long wonderful days.
