Excellent video, I have just gotten into modifying controllers and I am doing this kit right now. With the other ones I have done, especially making everythingclicky, it’s amazing how high-quality it feels even as a DIY. It helps that the PlayStation controller is already such a good unit to start with
I’ve done this and took a couple of hours with soldering. The trigger switch aren’t the best and need to adapt them to get a good click. Was harder than the prev version. The paddles are now old fashion and need improvements also block the charging from the ps5 original charger. The rubber grip is the only thing that it is great. Needs to be improved.
I agree about the back button placement. I didn't really like them before, I wish they had different options for them like Xbox elite or dual sense edge

Performance of triggers is the same as the hex phantom. Back button placement has always been my complaint with these kits. It would be so much better if they came down the handle just a little more
i don't know what your talking about with your controller is different. i'm setting up PS5 Controllers BDM 010 & BDM 020 and thats almost the same process. it's easy to know which you have without opening > if you hook it up your dualsense to a pc, their website can read out which controller it is.
Plastic ones are lighter. I tried those when they first came out. I felt the metal ones seemed more sturdy, but there is no difference to the button feel between the two. Just the weight
@@GearsAndTech i did need warranty on a dualsense who had an immediate stickdrift. i don't bother if this can not be charged on the charging dock, there are 2 others on it all the time.

The connectors are different, I think I went over that.
At the end of the day it doesn't matter. It just affects which kit you're going to buy
Phantom r2 hinge broke from being on instant trigger. Only had for a few day. Doesn't have a reinforcing stop
Dang, I pull really hard on my triggers and have never had that break
They need to sell the back plate of the phantom, so ppl can build a controller that will work on the charging dock.
I think this is the only back plate you'll get.
They did eventually release the Victor X back buttons (the ones they used for their Ultra X), so I imagine these won't be too far in the future.
They sell an adapter to use with the official charging dock that makes the mod compatible with it
If they sold the back buttons from the phantom as a DIY kit then there’s no point in partnering and doing business with them

I've got the old metal rise4 kit but its too heavy compared to my other rollers. Have you tried the plastic versions instead? Are they lighter?

What about mapping the trackpad button?
I never tried mapping touch pad, I think it can be done because of how the ribbon cable gets connected
