- In this video I demo my latest highly portable travel gaming rig that will fit into a normal sized backpack. I am using an old shuttle backpack but I'm currently working on making a compartmentalised padded carry case.
The configuration (with links to Amazon) is as follows: -
Dan A4 V4 - available at Overclockers Case King
ROG STRIX portable monitor - geni.us/WYdA
Basilisk Wireless Mouse - geni.us/4SV3
Keychron K2 keyboard - geni.us/Mjc9Mbk
Nari Wireless Headset - geni.us/5ntakS

This is exactly the concept I had in my head. Ive had laptops but they become so crappy after a couple years of use and when something break(which it will) you are absolutely screwed. On top of that since I have a smart phone I only move my laptop occasionally.
Most people think Rig is Hard to Bring everywhere
But, You just makes me Happy cause Now Rig also available in portable form factor
Haha thanks mate. It is a truly amazing feeling just grabbing your desktop and putting it in a bag! Not quite as practical as a laptop but hell of a lot more powerful
What a decent build!
Thank you, I am really pleased with it 👍
This is such a great guide, not gonna lie you just pointed out good stuff about the gpu, it has these USB type c which I really think I need. Laptops are crappie jig. So I guess I gotta build a mini itx PC with a mounted monitor on it and do some diy with it to make it look like a beast box of a machine.
This setup is exactly what I have wanted to do for a while now. I was thinking of using an aluminum hard case with foam inserts instead of a backpack for extra protection since it's both smaller and safer. Great Vid!
Edit: For the PC itself you could run a RX 6800 which has a USB C port on it. It would give you the port and the power of a 30 series card that you wanted. Only issue is finding it...
Yeah, I am still trying to find the perfect bag. The one I have doesn't have enough padding for my liking. my 2080 still has a USBC port, it is such a shame they removed them from the 3000 series :(
Impressive!
thanks mate
Can you provide a link to that backpack too? Would the Silverstone ML08 fit?
Amazing!!! May I know the volume of the bag, just to get an idea...
nice
Very nice setup! Doesn't the 8700K limits you a bit for super high framerates at 1080p?
Probably a bit but at 4.5ghz across cores I am getting pretty good frames still! I wanted to get a 5600x but they are just so impossible to get at the moment. I will probably upgrade in the future when things sort themselves out
This was what I wanted to do.
Refer to this setup

@@MashITTech
thank you! I am supporting you.
I want to do a build just like this, I've been an SFF fan since I got into building PCs, but I've never had anything smaller than like the Node 202 or my current Meshlicious. I have a beefy system sure, but I think for what I mostly do I could compromise with less power and a very appealing smaller set up.
The Dan is an amazing machine and I really love it but you need to make some compromises. You need a 2 slot gfx card but I have managed a 2080 super with no thermal issues. Also the cpu cooling is difficult due to the height so you will need either a 5600x or 11400 or similar cool running processor to use an air cooler or you can water cool it but man the cabling is hard 😂
@@MashITTech Yeah that sucks a lot, but Zotac makes a 3070ti that is 2 slots and not very long either, so I was thinking going for that model if it's ever easily attainable. I did want to use the asetek aio to water cool it, thought it would be a fun challenge, but I also have a 650w psu with custom cabling that would make it easier since they're not threaded. That would be my ideal portable build.
Hi David,
Are both those bottom case fans exhausting air out of the case?
Did you make that bracelet yourself? It is very pretty
I also love your sff setup its really cute 😍 and inspiring
Hi, yes both fans are exhaust and gives great temps. My wife actually made the bracelet for me 😀
Whats the bag?
Interesting seeing someone use a thermolab heatsink, as all other builds I see use lpx ram w/ blackridge or the noctua heatsink. What are your temps now?
I also have a black ridge and although the performs is great I hated the turbulence it causes in this case (I am really sensitive to noise) gaming in warzone on the 8700k and 2080 with neither undervolted (meaning to do that but haven’t had the time) using a quiet profile I am getting cpu temps in the early 70s and gpu mid 60s. Really impressed with how it performs 👍
@@MashITTech the black ridge only really shines when one uses a 120mm fan instead of the stock 92mm. the former requires the use of vlp ram, which is annoying, as im sure you know. I saw a decibel test on youtube with the 120mm setup and it was near silent in the Dan under full load.
What is total weight?
You should do a reaction video of you bringing this to starbucks to work. lol
haha good idea for a video 😁
I'm thinking of building something similar to this, could I potentially do it with one of the newer GPUs and a displayport to usbC cable? I still want to have the monitor powered by the GPU as you have here, I have all the components save for the monitor.
I haven't tried that but I am not sure it would work and you would also need a second USBC for power. It is such a shame they removed the USBC ports on this generation of cards :(
also how does this fare to your louqe ghost s1? do you have updated video for your ghost s1
If you don't move the system, the ghost is better. It is less cramped to build in, all the panels just slide off and you have better CPU clearance. If you travel the DAN wins hands down, it is lighter, easier to handle and feels well put together so won't get damaged in transit
i want to see an itx pc with the screen built into the case
yeah, that would be amazing, a lot of people will put stat screens inside a case but a fully functioning monitor would be amazing
what is backpack model you would recommend to carry this setup around? I have exact setup with a pelician case to carry it around but I feel it is too inconvenient to do it
I am still trying to find the perfect back pack. At the moment I have a shuttle PC back pack that's years old and has terrible padding. I am currently looking at DSLR bag with laptop pouch, trying to find one that may fit everything
Hi. Do you think this setup will fit in Aer Fit Pack 2/3?
Can you please review the Alienware M17 R4?? and the MSI GE76
Hello mate, m17r4 on its way from Dell as we speak. Hoping to have that review done by the end of next week. I can take a look if the ge76 is released here yet as our stock is only just landing now
@@MashITTech great , love your reviews btw thanks
Can I connect the XG17 to the motherboard USB-C and still use the graphics card?
The motherboard usbc will not carry the display signal sorry
W backpack is that?
Hi just like to ask how heavy the setup is together in total weight compared with a 15 inch laptop which is around avg of 4-4.5 lbs thanks! Nice setup!
Thanks, It is really heavy compared to a 15" laptop and obviously much less portable. I will grab my scales shortly and weight the entire bag for you
@@MashITTech thanks it means a lot!
I need to condense my old gaming computer (mainly used for csgo) into something smaller.
Asrock itx mobo
I5-2500k (stock cooler)
8gb ddr3
Gtx 560 ti
Corsair 430m atx psu
How much of of this would fit into that dancase?
Also have you heard about the gstory monitor 165hz
Better to get sfx psu, I forgot if dan fits atx. Try getting an l9i cooler, if stock cooler height is above 48mm
correct you will need an SFX PSU, ATX will not fit. And yes Noctua l9i is a good choice
can you show gameplay of dota2
nice build btw!
Of course, we are just reorganising the office, soon as I have finished that I will fire it up
At first part: Is this You???
Yes, this is me 👍
no gsync wtf do i do
Are you using the usbc output?
@@MashITTech yes i wanted the one cable look
What adapter are you using?
@@MashITTech plugging it into my laptop with dp and power usbc, i read something about the graphics cards not supporting it over uscb anymore, a shame its why i bought this, if there’s a way to bypass that it lmk it would be a great help, love the vids btw
should've gone amd bruh...
couldn't get one second hand for a decent price :(
