Kennedy, future United States president, in the Solomon Islands campaign of the Pacific theater during World War II. Kennedy's actions in saving his surviving crew after PT-109 was rammed and sunk by a Japanese destroyer earned him several commendations and made him a war hero. Back problems stemming from the incident required months of hospitalization at Chelsea Naval Hospital and plagued him the rest of his life. Kennedy's postwar campaigns for elected office referred often to his service on PT-109.
In March 2015, in Tokyo, the "JFK: His life and legacy" exhibition was held, where Caroline Kennedy, JFK's daughter, and Kazuko Hanami, wife of the captain of the destroyer that collided with the boat, met and confirmed the partnership between Japan and the U.S. At the exhibition, a letter sent by JFK to Captain Hanami in 1953 and a photograph of him with a handwritten message "To Captain Hanami, late enemy and present friend" were displayed. The two had been corresponding, and letters of encouragement were sent from Captain Hanami and former crew members of the destroyer when JFK ran for president. This was featured in the official magazine "American View" of the U.S. Embassy in Japan.

The Bofors 40 mm gun has a rate of fire of 120-160 rounds per minute (rpm) per barrel, depending on the speed at which four-round clips are loaded. Ok, this is a relatively minor thing, but this error has showed up before and will continue to do so as long as you're making ww2 stuff. The animation for the 40mm Bofors gun is completely wrong. It does not just blaze away like a normal machine gun, it fires slowly. (about 120 rpm) Each barrel recoils quite a lot each time it fires, usually fired in alternating sequence for multiple mounts. There's plenty of archival footage for this, or you could use your sponsor War Thunder as reference for your animators. The shells it fires are quite large, so they're good candidates for slow mo bullet shots you like to do. I know this is a nitpick, but Yarnhub has shown a consistent ability to improve and I hope this is one thing that you do improve.
Fun fact: it’s irrelevant if the torpedoes hit or not. The specific version of torpedo those boats were using was ineffective. There was a design flaw in them that prevented detonation in the vast majority of cases, so any torpedoes that may have hit the ship certainly did not significant damage.
Several years ago i saw a documentary where some researchers were looking for the PT109 wreckage,They did find engines, torpedo tubes and other pieces in the area where pt109 sank,it couldnt be confirmed as PT 109 but still an interesting find
Nice, but i think that the WW2 was not just about the Pacific Front, but also Eastern Front. There are more events and battles that you could use in your videos, like the battle of Reichstag or battle of Narvik. I appreciate your work guys anyway♥
To be fair the pacific was never shown like this before , it’s always just taught as Pearl Harbor and the Bombs, while Europe had all the coverage including the East

These videoes never mention the part the Coastwatchers play in the stories. Those natives were scouts for a Coastwatcher called Arther Evans who behind Japanese lines located and orchestrated the rescue of Kennedy and his crew. Of the original 67 Coastwatchers at the outbreak of the war the Japanese hunted down and killed 30. It was a dangerous job and they shouldn't be overlooked.
If this is about torpedo boats, uncle Zimmermann was a bow gunner (20mm) on an S boat. Yeah the S boats were better, and bigger, and had the "Lurrsen" effect built into the rear hull ,for better seakeeping. The shells it fires are quite large, so they're good candidates for slow mo bullet shots you like to do. I know this is a nitpick, but Yarnhub has shown a consistent ability to improve and I hope this is one thing that you do improve.
I am not surprised that PT-109 ignited so rapidly & hot. These boats had twin Packard V-12 engines that burned aviation fuel (gasoline/petrol).
Bofors 40mm firing so fast? 0:46... dunno bout that... Maybe this was some fast firing variant but the ones i've seen aren't that fast shootin'
Fun fact: it’s irrelevant if the torpedoes hit or not. The specific version of torpedo those boats were using was ineffective. There was a design flaw in them that prevented detonation in the vast majority of cases, so any torpedoes that may have hit the ship certainly did not significant damage.
Spongebob: and that's how JKL was born! 😁
10:34 why he got that mcarthur drip
JFK had a good sense of style well into his presidential days
Several years ago i saw a documentary where some researchers were looking for the PT109 wreckage,They did find engines, torpedo tubes and other pieces in the area where pt109 sank,it couldnt be confirmed as PT 109 but still an interesting find
Sank is the past tense of sink, just an fyi sunk is the past participle
Just so you know, nobody gives a shit
Dawg the movie trailers are so hype! Feels like I gotta go to a theater to watch this one! Can’t wait🔥🔥🔥
I like your videos when they are in French speak I speak French I am proud because you also put the audio in French
your talented team deserves every dollar..every sub..every thumbs up, for the hellacious fantastic content..nobody does history of war action better..
"I don't know, but Jack Kennedy seems to be a rather incompetent officer. He allows his ship to be run over by a destroyer and runs out of gas.
Caution has never been a trait associated with the Kennedys'.
He couldnt see the destroyer due to heavy fog
From a captain to Commander in Chief... That's one heck of a promotion!
They don’t make presidents like that anymore
The voice actors are getting better and better
Nice, but i think that the WW2 was not just about the Pacific Front, but also Eastern Front. There are more events and battles that you could use in your videos, like the battle of Reichstag or battle of Narvik. I appreciate your work guys anyway♥
To be fair the pacific was never shown like this before , it’s always just taught as Pearl Harbor and the Bombs, while Europe had all the coverage including the East
They have made quite a few video on the eastern front. They just seem very focused on the pacific lately.
You guys should make a movie, the quality is outstanding. 👍
Rest in Peace Mr. President and thank you for your service!
was it not john f kennedy who had the pt 109 or am i missing something
Jack is a nickname for John
the most perfectly placed war thunder ad ive ever seen lol I was just thinking, man I miss ripping the lil boats around in war thunder, god damn perfection o7
Thx for french voice Nice vidéo 😁 !
Jack Kennedy?!?
If I’m not mistaken, Jack is a nickname for John. Jack Lemmon for instance was born John Uhler Lemmon III.
He was often called jack
Yarnhub do one about the B26 Meauder FLAK-BAIT it has an amazing story and holds records. Please consider.

If this is about torpedo boats, uncle Zimmermann was a bow gunner (20mm) on an S boat. Yeah the S boats were better, and bigger, and had the "Lurrsen" effect built into the rear hull ,for better seakeeping.
If this is about JFK, he was one of the greatest US presidents I care to remember, and don't think we'll see another one as good as he.-TY.
why was he calling him jack, when his name is john?
Things things are becoming more and more movie-like by the video
Again, y’all make stuff way better than Hollywood at this point
Fellas, Kennedy had a strong Boston accent...really miss that. Entertaining, but the proper voice over would've made this 5 star.
This guy is pretty cool! I wonder if he could have a career in politics. Who will ever know?!
Jacky should have his iconic accent voiceover
This video is great keep up the great vids
This is the same ship type, which the Black Lagoon Company uses.
Great Manga
Best vids I ever watch
"It doesn't look like much, but she's got it where it counts."
-Word! And I bet it would make point-2 past light speed, plus Jack probably made a few modifications himself. When the crew arrived Jack told them, "We're in a bit of a rush so if you'll get on board, we'll get going." 😆
These animations get better with every video!
Excellent quality improvements all round, and you still retain the humour and atmosphere of the channel. Well done!
Como demorei tanto tempo pra conhecer este canal 😲
