@@GadgetryTech I would also love to see you including different EQ's based on the music genre. For example EDM (house, dnb, techno, etc), metal, pop etc
The LCD-GX, a beauty. As a suggestion for a future video, you could put the top IEMs at a price point(100$ for example) against the best closed backs and open backs over ear headphones and compare their sound quality. I think many would love this kind of video because it would tell them your opinion in regards to where they should spend their cash if they want the best sound quality for the price

So glad you got to review this. I've had the GX for years using it with a Schiit Hel 2. I hop between using it with Dolby Atmos with the AutoEQ 10 band eq for it and DTSX with the spacious setting and have been loving it for years. You really notice the bitrate difference between Atmos and DTSX with these headphones and op to mostly use with DTSX. Sounds incredible with Apex Legends. :D
I certainly considered this as a gaming headset, but went with the VZR after your review. I recently got the AUNE AR5000 and it fits my ears better than the VZR, and with your tuning is working well for me at the moment, but early days. Need to 'break' them in for a while longer. Thank you as always for your detailed and informative review. Your content is always very anticipated and appreciated. Take care, Sir.
Great review as always. I had the same issue with the back kicking out no matter how much i fiddled with the placement it would never sit right. If the yolks were centered like the LCD 2c, 2 Closed, 2, 3 etc they would have been perfect. Such a shame cuz to me, audeze has a sound signature unlike anything else. Maybe one day they will update their line up to use that magnesium housing from the GX, MX4, LCD-4z but with a centered yolk without impacting the sound. Oh and higher ohms pretty please.
The fix is to reverse the head band by switching the ear cups from the yoks. I just did this and the fit is much better. But be aware, there is RED Locktight on the screws and you need a soldering iron to help you do this without damage.
I changed my mind, I’m getting this to pair with my PS5Pro which DAC would probably be best? From watching your videos. It seems like the Hellfi for overall audio or the creative if I want to also try EQ.

Since jumping into the pubg scene again (this time with my kids) I play on a different computer and moving my lcd-gx around is not ideal, which is why I have been questioning the wireless Maxwell's -You touched DAC's at the end there for other devices, do you feel that the pc motherboard audio is enough to drive the lcd-gx or would you recommend also getting a dac for the pc? With my head the GX fits perfectly. So dont be shy. Its a great headphone. I only use it for music because i like it more than the 2C and the X is too heavy for me
As Ian from Jurassic Park said, "You did it. You crazy son of a b****, you did it!" I liked these once upon a time but even with EQ, they'd make me wince. They also put a lot of front pressure on the front of the pads on my face and are just a bit awkward to wear, but they bump and it's a cool idea for a headset. As always, awesome review Joe! Keep rising through the ranks!
Haha, thanks! I think the geometry of the headband and front pressure is the only real detriment for the money. Other than that, it's a stellar headset/headphone.
Great video, since you had the Arya Organic in hand, have you try the ZMF perforated lambskin pads on them? I got them 6 month ago and they are fantastic for many reason, would be great If you could do a 5 min review on them. cheers.
How does the LCD GX compare to the Arya Stealth. Hifiman has a crazy sale right now where it’s selling the Stealth for $599. Paired with a mod mic it’s several hundred dollars less than this.
Joe what’s up I just pick up the Sennheiser hdv 820 amp/dac and it sounds the same as the Schiit hel 2 honestly the hell 2 has a little bit better sound with the vocals I don’t like the tone of the vocals on both units when I’m watching movies,do you have any suggestion of a amp dac at 2300 bucks that will give me great clear sound in the vocals ? And overall way, better clear sound.?
I found the Audeze LCD-GX Second hands Brand New for just 400 Bucks! and It worth it a lot! Amazing audio gaming, music, movies. The only con that i found are the pads... Cause the Pads are not durable, made it with fake skin, so i am looking for new pads and of course with better quality.
When I was going through my testing to choose a new can, I tried the LCD-X and had to pass ONLY due to weight … my neck was so sore the next day after 4 hours of use. LOL. Thought about the GX due to similar specs but overlooked the lighter weight by mistake.

Hello! So I'm review the G8 right now. I discovered an odd issue with the headphone output performance that really needs to be addressed. I sent an email out to Creative to pass along to engineering and am waiting to hear back. Once I know more, I'll go forward with finishing the review. I hope to release it mid week!
Amazing video thank you. How would you use the G6 with PS5 - there's no optical port? I'll be getting a PS5 soon but I had borrowed my neighbours while she was away and I couldn't get the G6 to sound good at all just connected to the USB. I'm thinking another device will be needed to use the optical, like a hdmi 2.1 audio extractor - one that does 4k 120Hz and has a optical out? Still, i wouldn't know how to set it up though - do you have a device like this and could you make a video? I'm tempted to just pick one up off Amazon but they are quite pricey in my country.
Hi @GadgetryTech, I am happy you mention tactility and use as a reference the LCD-X, have you had the opportunity to compare the tactility of the LCD-X vs Modhouse Tungsten/Meze Elite? Would like your thoughts on that as I enjoy a good impact/tactility quite a lot without going crazy with the sound (66~70db)
I hope to try the Tungsten this weekend at CanJam! I'll be sure to follow up on this. LCD-X has more tactility than the Meze Elite though. If you want a punch/slam on a Planar, it's the X, or ZMF Caldera. I look forward to hearing the Tungsten though
@@GadgetryTech Thank you for a quick reply, Icrossing my fingers for you to check out the Tungsten and looking forward to your findings ! Have fun at CamJam! P.S: Thanks, I've listened and quite liked the Meze Elite, but I want more tactility/impact.
Amazing video, thank you! So are you saying if you had the extra money you'd buy the mic cable but use it on the LCD-X for gaming? That would be your ideal end game? Im still using HD800s with JDS Atom stack on ps5. Waiting for the Schiit Hel 2 to come back in stock, wanting to know what to pair it with.
I think if money were no object, yeah I would prefer the LCD-X + mic personally. Just an insane performer. The GX is technically a better value though. HD 800S is such a good headphone as well! The Atom stack I think may be even better for the 800S than the HEL 2, unless you need analog mic support
Hi, hope you can help me with this, i have had the lcd gx for 2 years , but the left ear cup just died , I was thinking on going for the sennheiser hd 800 s or would you recommend me to buy another pair of the lcd gx ? I use them only for gaming
Saludos
I can see myself considering an Audeze "Endgame" headphone/headset, however in my search for something to replace my Fidelio 2XHR I've come across so many user reports about QC issues with Audeze products, even for their high-end premium products, that I have completely moved away from Audeze products (even the much more affordable Maxwell).
I had Fidelio X1 & X2HR too. At least from the sound perspective the Maxwell blows the Fidelio series out of the water. Planars just hit different man. I'm also quite sure that Audeze had a small revision of the Maxwell for better QC.
In the future I see Audeze making an openback version of the maxwell. Like Turtle Beach did with the Atlas Air. BTW, Joe can you make a follow up video on the Atlas and tell us if they fixed all the BS bugs? Low volume, EQ, so on and so on.
I will for sure. Not everything is fixed yet, so I'd hate to say it's all good now when I know it needs more work. I've been working with TB on testing and feedback and I hope it's perfect before the holidays.
@GadgetryTech very nice, and I hear what you are saying completely! I was sitting here tempted to buy it again, but if the lower volume still exists, it's definitely a no-go. I might have damaged hearing, but iv always enjoyed higher volumes as long as it's not sibilant. So, for reference with the stealth pro's I listen around 90-100% depending on the game, or on the blackshark V2 pro 2023 100%, I need to hear those footsteps. I dont play COD, that volume goes way down with that game, insane boost. So, is the volume issues fixed enough to where it would be acceptable, or should I just try the simgot EM6L 😜 or 6xx 560s?
I Just got the audezee maxwell for the Xbox and even though it’s super heavy it’s amazing. But… I have a static feedback robotic voice 50/50 when I play ARMA Reforger cross play. (The use of radios and the radio noise) do you have any idea how to fix this? I’m absolutely heart broken about how many in game people say my headset sounds like a Walmart mic and I dropped 300$ for it. Im plugging in the sun to the front with the long wire connection to the usbc hard drive for the mic and I was wondering if that could be why? I’ve been using the competitive preset and auto tone off so idk? The problem usually fixes when I turn the mic on and off. Should I try the aux cord or would that increase the static noise? please help thanks
I like the comfort of the 800S more (lighter and more symmetrical clamp), but this performed better in competitive shooters for me (without the use of any EQ). Also if you like to add bass, the LCD-GX handles more bass without distortion.
Comfort is better on 109 Pro for sure. Both are wonderful headphones. I could see wearing the 109 Pro more often from a comfort stand point, but I would prefer the sound performance of the GX more in gaming
Love my maxwell, but not sure if anyone else experienced crackle sounds on deep bass sounds at high volume. I had it bass boosted and frequency tested it and it made the worst shrieking sound ive every heard. I literally threw it off my head. I never listen to it bass boosted anymore and does fine. Side note: ever try the drop ultrasone signature x? Its hard not to smile playing or listening to anything with that thing.
Fix for shrieking bass: Try this AudezeHQ EQ +6|+5|+1|-4|-8|-8|-7|-6|-3|-4 and in Dolby Access use Music -> detailled. I have this shrieking bass issue as well with my current Maxwell, I went through 3 RMA's and it only happens on the latest unit. I'm usually a guy who maxes the bass sliders all the way to the top. I worked around that shrieking noise by boosting the lows only moderately and removing mids/highs. The headphones will get quieter overall but the bass stays strong. I'm very happy with this EQ and windows volume at 70-80 when listening to music. I also own the signature x. Love the insane bass but dislike the mids/highs a bit since I'm used to sweet planar magnetic sounds (I also own Hifiman Sundara)
ive narrowed my list to a few iems and headphones, i mainly only play single player games. So I've made a list of IEMs and headphones: Beyerdynamic Tygr 300r Ziigaat Doscinco Fiio FT1 Fiio FT5 VZR Model one I have Fiio k5 pro ess As my dac and i have Simgot Em6L looking for a worthy upgrade to it . i want immersive bass and good warm sounding headphones or iems to immersive myself while gaming plz suggest me something
Ziigaat doscinco would be a great upgrade to em6l, I love it. Very immersive. That or hype 4 or mangird tea pro. You could get a doscinco and an ft1, get the best of both worlds.
Out of those, I'm only familiar with the Tygr and I would recommend them. They have a non-detachable cable, sadly, but everything else about them is worth it.
Yes. I have a pair! Was my daily cans until Maxwell dropped. The Maxwells have the same sound as the LCD-X, imo. Definitely get the Maxwell if you wanna save money and more features.
The worst part of those headphones is the headband and the yoke rods. It never sitted well on my head even with new pads. Trying to sell them not worth the trouble in my opinion
@@GadgetryTech I saw your stream and went to the store to try the fit, and observed none of the issues you have described. I'd guess my head is wider than yours and there was almost no difference between the fit of X and GX apart from much clampier feeling on the GX.
I use to have these headphones two years ago there a joke for every day usage especially 6 to eight hours a day every single day sent mine back years ago
if you aren't in endgame price bracket, then just ignore the video, it's really not hard. Some people have deep pockets and 1200 for a headset is nothing to them. It's not all about your Walmart space you are in.
This one was a miss for me. Tried it when it first came out. It sounds good for music and is good for gaming but for the money you can do better for both gaming and music. The ergonomics and comfort are just ok. For competitive gaming it just doesn’t stand up to much cheaper options. For music I think you can do better for cheaper too. Oh and the mic cable is absolute ass. Extra long cheap springy rubbery mess. Unacceptable at this price point. Had to have mine replaced. Made me want to just use it as a headphone in which case what is the point. Apparently it had a revision? Doubt it justified doubling the price of it. Really didn’t hit home for value at all for me.
It's a good headphone, but the mic is literal ass, heavy for gaming, Maxwell is better for just gaming, it needs EQ to shine with music and then many options are way cheaper and better. A decent pair, but poor value.
Massive driver size and the planar magnetic technology. Much different sound profile with more detail compared to traditional dynamic drivers. Definitely still paying a premium price tag for the name, though.
@@nathangothan601 I know about planars, i have a couple including Maxwell which are great btw. Well maybe i am wrong. GX are not extremely expensive after all.

fiio FT5 review for immersive gaming plz and Is Fiio Ft1 good for immersive bassy single player games?
Hi Joe audeze Maxwell vs hifiman edition xs ? Nice’ s reviews
Where did you get that headphones stand
Saludos
How would I be able to connect the lcd-gx to my xbox series x?
They kinda have an open back maxwell, the mm-100. It’s just a headphone though.
Where do I get that polo?
How do these compare to something like a HD800s?
I like the comfort of the 800S more (lighter and more symmetrical clamp), but this performed better in competitive shooters for me (without the use of any EQ). Also if you like to add bass, the LCD-GX handles more bass without distortion.
Hey Joe! How do you compare it to the 109 Pro?
Comfort is better on 109 Pro for sure. Both are wonderful headphones. I could see wearing the 109 Pro more often from a comfort stand point, but I would prefer the sound performance of the GX more in gaming
@@GadgetryTech Thx Joe! Confort is King for me... I sold the Maxwells for that reason.
What about compared to Turtle beach stealth pro mate?
Ewww trashtle beach.
*continues to wait for Maxwell v2
Does audeze lcd x has natural timber or plasticky/metallic?
Definitely more natural. One of the more natural planars out there

What will you choose for yourself?
heard to many QC stories about maxwell to take the plunge on them.
ive narrowed my list to a few iems and headphones, i mainly only play single player games. So I've made a list of IEMs and headphones:
Beyerdynamic Tygr 300r
Ziigaat Doscinco
Fiio FT1
Fiio FT5
VZR Model one
I have Fiio k5 pro ess As my dac and i have Simgot Em6L
looking for a worthy upgrade to it .
i want immersive bass and good warm sounding headphones or iems to immersive myself while gaming
plz suggest me something
Ziigaat doscinco would be a great upgrade to em6l, I love it. Very immersive. That or hype 4 or mangird tea pro. You could get a doscinco and an ft1, get the best of both worlds.
Out of those, I'm only familiar with the Tygr and I would recommend them. They have a non-detachable cable, sadly, but everything else about them is worth it.
@@Hijynx87 thanks , would you recommend doscinco for Single player games or Fiio Ft1
@@bananawarlock3981is Tygr 300r worth it for Single player games?
LCD-X - good for gaming?
Yes. I have a pair! Was my daily cans until Maxwell dropped. The Maxwells have the same sound as the LCD-X, imo. Definitely get the Maxwell if you wanna save money and more features.
@@DeviousPhoenix1 thanks!
I been using this for 3 years with the shiit hel 2 amp with my ps5 I think its the best and I try a lot of wireless but I always go back to these
Please review sony mdr z1r and denon d7200
Red Grills. No, thank you. I need black or gunmetal-colored ones.
🙌🏽🔥🔥🔥🙌🏽
I own one. it is world class and worth it. I have audiophile headphones and these can compete no problem. Very nice for gaming, music and movies.
I think they would just take the box , not try to break it open 😂
The worst part of those headphones is the headband and the yoke rods. It never sitted well on my head even with new pads. Trying to sell them not worth the trouble in my opinion
It's so tough because that fitment varies greatly on head shape. I scooted mine back a bit and it helped a lot
I love th sound quality on my Maxwell, however the quality control is just rock bottom 😢
To answer the question: No, it isn't worth it to me considering the price. But for those with deeper pockets, maybe...? 🤷🏻♂️
stay safe and don't buy overpriced gaming headphones, gotcha
if you aren't in endgame price bracket, then just ignore the video, it's really not hard. Some people have deep pockets and 1200 for a headset is nothing to them. It's not all about your Walmart space you are in.
That’s great but will it raise my KD in warzone!?!? For $900 I’m hoping it does 😂😂😂
Only if you get gaming socks and lots of RGB of course
@@GadgetryTech 😂😭😂😭
Pretty hard to come up why is this better than just a good pair of headphones with separate mic. Maybe it's just me...
Massive driver size and the planar magnetic technology. Much different sound profile with more detail compared to traditional dynamic drivers.
Definitely still paying a premium price tag for the name, though.
@@nathangothan601
I know about planars, i have a couple including Maxwell which are great btw.
Well maybe i am wrong. GX are not extremely expensive after all.
It’s a great “headset” amazing sound 💯 that said the DT 1990 PRO is still way better 🙌🏻
No. Beyere treble is hot ick that needs eq to make bearable. At least to my ears. They're too hot

Looked these headphones up on Amazon. $800 for "gaming" headphones? Yeah no thanks. That's approaching twice the cost of a XSX or PS5.
Ok NOOBS I agreed...ha4..Peace!
I bet it is not better then my hifiman XS
Audeze sound is pretty different to Hifiman sound. Calling one simply better is over simplifying things.
@@J4nda I never said the XS is better then the GS. more like guessing lol
the maxwell sounds better than the Edition XS so i doubt it can even reach the GX level
