- Here is simple step to program VHF Channel on Baofeng BF-888-s, BF888s. Iam using chirp to enable the VHF Frequency. Its very easy to program.

All we need is baofeng cable data, CHIRP and its working like a charm.
CHIRP could easily be updated to allow the keying in the same frequency ranges that you have included in your Baofeng software hack

Seems to work on most Baofeng radios. I tried several different models and they seem accept almost any frequency, if programmed beyond a reasonable range they won't receive or transmit. Seems to be hardware limits depending on model. Thanks for the Tip!

I tried this on 3 different BF888s radios. one with the following CMIITs
n/a
2017fp0564
2012FP1918
All three just beep when the frequency is changed to sub 400
My BF-888s show same behaviour, if I program them to Freenet (149MHz) I just hear a beep and there is not trasmission. I purchased 2 BF-888s in 2022. (The radios does not show any CMIIT, it is just not printed on the radio).
Looks like a good video can you do it again and explain what you are doing 🤔

thanks man, it works on my 888s, using FTDI usb ttl cable. i can transmit on vhf, tested with rtl-sdr receiver.

From my bf-888s I can change the frequency by following your tutorial but when I tried to transmit... it doesn't work. No red light when I press the PTT. I was hoping you have a way to fix this issue.
Try to input different frequency on other channel. Channel 1-8: vhf 9-16: uhv vice versa

Hello. I did according to this method. Now the radios are not working. The red LED is on all the time. They also do not connect to the computer. Help!!!!

I got it to work 90%. Can transmit to other radios but I cannot hear what they say unless I press the monitor button.
Where did I go wrong with programming.
I'm trying two VHF frequencies on channel 10 15610000 and 11 11830000. They do show in the download from radio that they are programmed in. However when I try to listen to those channels I just get a continuous tone.
try to put another channel with VHF frequencies may help.

Unfortunately i don't test the power when transmitting in vhf. I think it will be lower then uhf
VHF is for wide-open field with no build surround, the UHF is for build block place will work better, now you decide which one of this is suitable for you

If programmed on vhf, does it really work like a Vhf radio or is the signal or battery compromised? What do you suggest? Can few channel be programmed on vhf and some on uhf in the BF 888S
Recent BF888s radio can't be programmed on vhf Maybe due to factory limitation. CMIIW
I got it to work but it no longer drives my 2 kW amplifier😮
Not sure you should to make a UHF only radio with a UHN antenna transmit on VHF. I wouldn't expect your output transistors to last too long doing that, (even if it appears to work) Just buy a cheap dual band Boafeng, not like they cost much

Things seem to have changed in CHIRP. Now I can see the raw data in Browser tab but I cannot edit it at all.
Use the legacy version of chirp. I tried it and it works but my bf888s is to new. I only get solid sound beeping. Must be chip set or firmware.

We can choose what frequency we would use. Uhf or vhf both work on every channel. CMIIW

Frekuensi yg bisa scan hanya di ch 16 kalau tidak salah. Kalau yg lain frekuensinya akan tetap sama.tidak berubah

2018 and 2019 model bf888s canot program in vhf frequency, its beeping,...but my radio bf888s model 2017 the vhf frequency is working correctly.

hola Gonzalo, funciona realmente en vhf, testado con otra radio con display de la frequencia. Pero no puedo poner el tono para abrir los radio puentes
@@VinoRosso59 lo q si pude poner las frecuencias VHF en cierto rango (245 - 246 mhz) las otras que van de los 137 - 174 me hacen un pequeño ruido de fondo en los baoeng 888-s y, cuando hablo, se corta la comunicacion. te ha pasado a vos? calculo debe ser un tema del transmisor

Do I need to change the antenna? Because in the antenna it is written that 400-470Mhz
If you choose to using both frequency, better change the antenna to maximize tx on vhf

Sebenernya ht bf888s rekomended di pakai di uhf bang. Kalau di rubah ke vhf kurang optimal. Kalau mau vhf mending pakai baofeng uv 5re plus.
Mau tanya gan kalau freq 354 125 itu uhf apa vhf.. Terus bisa gak ht uhf dirobah ke vhf
Itu UHF gan, baofeng bf888s ada yg bisa diubah ke vhf 136-174Mhz
Berarti ht ini bisa ya gan.. Kira2 recomended gak gue beli ht ini.. Trus dirobah ke freq 350an..

@@kurowikurowi1083 kaya mura ang baofeng 888s dahil fixed frequency na siya sa lahat ng models na 888s, kumbaga parehas sila lahat ng frequency kaya lahat ng naririnig mo jan malamang naka bf888s din. pero pwede naman palitan yung frequency nang channels niya pero dapat may computer ka at usb cord na pang baofeng, download mo yung CHIRP software.

Lebih mudah setting tone nya pakai software bawaan baofeng gan, atau chirp langsung di tampilan utamanya. Sehabis itu baru rubah frekuensi nya di browser chirp kalau mau diubah jadi vhf

@@VinoRosso59 well I have entered specific marine channels like Ch16 VHF (156.8 MHz) and I can listen to that channel wihtout any problem but when I try to transmit nobody can hear anything, not sure why...?
