This is my third AKG mic and despite this one being "budget priced" they still made sure that it delivers on sound and build quality. It doesn't feel or sound like a budget mic. AKG know how to make a great microphone. I'll have to check out the 240 at some point. Thank you for continuing to check out my channel. I really appreciate it. Keep creating! 👊👍
@@AudioTechTV I have a stereo matched pair of C-1000s with the hypercardiod adapter which work well. I bought the C-2000 a couple of decades ago and I didn’t really like it as much as my MXL mics (2000 and 603s respectively), I found it too hyped on top and my soft pallet and partially deviated septum don’t like being hyped. Lol So, I got rid of it. Of all the mics that I have had to part with over the years, I miss my Oktavas the most. They will never again be as budget friendly as they were when I bought them.
Before i bought this mic i had few very low budget mics those were $20 mics this akg 120 was my very first upgrade i bought it for i think $90.it was a grate improvement over what i had been using for vocals. For a little more money i had thought about the akg 220 but instead i went and upgraded to a more expensive mic the beyerdynamic i still use the akg 120 from time to time.its was a grate upgrade 👍🏾
Are you able to try a different xlr mic cable? Just to see if the cable is the issue. You should not have any white noise so something isn’t right. If you can rule out the cable then it comes down to either the mic or interface that’s the issue. The p120 and the Minifuse interface are quiet.
Excellent video! I'm setting up a budget home studio in retirement to make some music with my granddaughters. Can you recommend a budget software to do some recording and editing similar to what you did in this video? I have an HP desktop computer. Thanks.
The software that I used in this video is Tracktion Waveform. Theres a free version called Waveform Free which doesn’t limit tracks or anything you just don’t get some of the included instruments and effects that the pro version comes with. I didn’t use any pro features in this demo. So you could easily do it in the free version. Other free programs that I recommend are the Luna DAW, and Pro Tools Intro. Thank you for watching. Keep creating! 👊👍
I don't know mich about microphones, but I got this one. Online everone says that I'll need 48V phantom power and an audio interface or it wont record audio, but i got it to record with just an xlr to 6.5mm with a 3.5mm adapter on the 6.5... The mic doesn't sound as good as in sound tests here on youtube, so I'm guessing I'm holding back the microphpne quality?
If it’s “working” that way then it won’t sound good. Some condensers will generate some sound without phantom power but you aren’t using the active circuits within the mic that make it sound good. Also if you aren’t plugging into a mic preamp then yes you will hear sound but it wont be optimal. It most likely will sound a little muffled and muddy. A mic preamp takes a mic level signal and brings it up to line level along with allowing you to provide it with the ideal amount of gain for your recording situation. For XLR mics, microphone preamps aren’t optional, they are required for optimal performance. Grab a proper XLR cable, and even a cheap audio interface or mixer that has a mic preamp plus phantom power and that microphone will sound decent.
It could be the USB port that it’s connected to doesn’t have enough power for phantom power. If it’s not connected to a USB 3 port or USB C then try connecting it to one of you have one on your computer and see if that works. I know with some laptops, the USB ports can be underpowered. My old laptop was like that on one of the USB2 ports it was pretty much only good for connecting a mouse to it. I couldn’t get an interface to work properly on that port.
@@AudioTechTV i tried connecting it to a USB 3 port and the problem still persists. However sometimes it does not flicker but still, the computer wont detect the mic input.
1) you’ll need an audio interface that works with your iPhone. Most do. Some require the USB camera adapter plus a powered usb hub but some others can connect direct. 2) same as question 1. You need an audio interface for your computer. It can be the same audio interface that you use with your phone. With either one make sure it has phantom power. Almost all of them do unless they are specific to recording guitar. To record audio on your computer you’ll need a piece of software for recording. For basic audio recording you can use the free Audacity program.
Condenser microphones have active electronics inside that require a bit of power in order for them to work. Phantom power is the source of power that these microphones need. It gets supplied through the audio interface/mixer/mic preamp and goes through the mic cable. If you are looking at purchasing a microphone that requires phantom power make sure your audio interface or mixer has the ability to supply phantom power. Most modern audio interfaces and mixers have it but there are still a few that don’t.

I'm glad you made a little song to test the vocals, very helpful!!
Can tell that the mic’s high pass filter enabled more mids in your voice -will give this switch a try on my same-model mic. Thanks for this video!
I hope the high pass filter works out for you. Thank you for watching. Keep creating! 👊👍

Can I use this with a sound card only without being powered up electricity
@@yungsilver924 no, it needs phantom power (48v)
Picked up the P-240 a couple of years ago. Figured it was time to get a mic with multiple polar patterns and the price was hard to beat/

Bought a P120 a couple of weeks ago as it was on sale for ~$60 off. Tried it for vocals against an AT2020 and the AT2020 blew it out of the water.
Is AT2020 better than AKGP120?
@@Relatable_as_hellnope. AT2020 sounds thinner.
Is this good for rap vocals and little bit for singing?
Just Oder one for my third mic set up 🆙 n my studio
did u post the song anywhere? love it
I have the same set up arturia + akg p120 and i have a lot of white noise no matter what i do. Can anyone pls help me??

interesante muchas gracias really cool thanks🎉🎉🎉
Did you use a de-esser in this video?
Like I said in the video, it’s just the raw audio. I didn’t add any effects to it. So no de-esser.
Does it handle belting and high freq?
Definitely bright up the voice lil with high pass on
Is this Mic Good for Rap vocals?
And also for Little bit singing ?
@@BREAKLONEyeah you’ll be surprised man, just gotta mess around with the positioning of the mic/the projection of your vocals
Was hesitant but I copped it in a good deal with a mic stand, cable, pop filter, and it turned out to be the best decision
does it came with xlr cable ?
Desperately looking for a way to make my rubbish MP3 files sound good. Can you help, please?
can this mic be used for radio broadcast?
It can be used for a radio mic. My college radio station had a very similar mic in the main studio.

It can be a good mic for those styles and more.
Why is the audio glitching so much
