To think were watching this video nearly 40 years later. That 40 years previously, when this was filmed. It was just after World War 2 had ended in Europe, on the 8th of May 1945. With Japans surrender in August 1945. ....................................................................... It`s interesting to slow the video down. You get a better view of the shops, & people. And the music stil sounds good.
Didn't know it at the time, but 1985 was one of the best years of my life, i didn't have much but i had it all if that makes sense. Unforgettable part of my life.
Same here. I was one of Maggie Thatcher's Army (the 3 million unemployed) so basically bugger all money. 🙁 But I had my youth and perfect health. Those are things you can never get back again.
Good to see old style Cas when it wasn't full of vape shops, Turkish barbers, nail bars, European mini markets full of crap pop & tat & numerous take-aways all selling the same food, Just genuine shops that provided the local community with the everyday essentials. If I had a time machine I wouldn't hesitate to go back ... Who's coming with me ??🤔
Along with Asda, supermarket There was Bakers, & Grandways, in town. Also Currys, Valances, & the Tv & video rental shops. For all your electrical needs. Plenty of clothes, Shoe shops.etc, etc, etc...... And free parking at the time, was a lot better than online shopping.

HC Vivas ceased production at the end of 1979 after being produced for nearly a decade. Back then (1985) they would have still been a highly common sight on UK roads.
That’s because back then potholes were filled by council workers, not by private companies intent only on ripping councils off with shoddy work and charging them inflated prices. That’s what years of Tory privatisation of public services have done for us.

Its incredible how the vehicles change in just 10 years between 1985 to 1995! We dont realise how things change so quick
The pre-1990’s cars were designed for style and simplicity, not aerodynamic efficiency, fuel economy and safety.
before I even watch, great music pick.

Lots of English cars and lots of English people, what's not to like....
All Turkish in cas town now
I'm glad sad pricks like you will one day no longer be around 😊
Wonderful video, really quite interesting. A time when we had shops and Bezos was just a future nightmare.
If those shops were superior to Amazon they'd still be around. People have voted with their wallets.

Not one kia sportage, t-roc, x5 and the bloody rest of them to be seen! Just lotsa standard straight forward cars with character!

I was born 13 years before this video, and seeing how dated things look in this video leaves me to ask one question, 'Am I old'?!

nice of YT to not recognise that as an English word.

Judging by the number of Vauxhall Vivas I would say before 1985

How did you have a dash cam in 1985?
It was a video camera, & a portable VHS recorder
The day of the Heysel football disaster caused by England hooligans, most young people in 1985 are old now and all the pensioners are dead.
That’s a jolly thought 😂
