Praying for healing is one thing, absolutely agree...but if a person is assuming that healing upon themselves and not GOD Himself then that's a problem. To casually throw preach the gospel into that like it's a similar gift...
WE preach the gospel through the Holy Spirit but WE heal and WE cast out demons?
It's dangerous to assume they are similar things we do. Do we pray for GODs healing people? Yes. Are WE healing? There is a fine line there. It's always going to be GODs will if a person is healed..and they won't always be healed. Sometimes GOD says no. Is there corroborating Scripture to the gifts of healing after Jesus that would involve anyone other than the apostles? And casting out demons? I also don't find the noncessationists unkindness to cessationists to be fruitful at all. Nor the shots taken at Calvinists, which I am not one. I find it divisive.
Can noncessationists and antiCalvinists state with 100% surety that the cessationists and Calvinists have a salvation problem by believing those things?
Can you say with complete assurance those cessationists and Calvinists are not saved? And if not then what is the reasoning for deriding them?
I would also appreciate if you could provide any example of healing(immediate responses to physical ailments in your presense) and casting out demons in your presence.

We are saved by trusting in the Lord Jesus death, burial and resurrection for the forgiveness of our sins.
The death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of our sins is the Gospel we read in 1 Corinthians 15:1-4.
Ephesians 2:8-9 says that our salvation is the gift of God and that we are saved by grace through our faith, and not by our works which includes obeying commandments.
Romans 3:20,
Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in His sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.
@@bobreese4807 I left mainstream, and even many interdenominational, churches over this very issue. The 10 Commandments are absolutely central to Christian faith. MacArthur's quote is similar to the Catholic Church's: I just didn't see anywhere in scripture that justified man changing these eternal Laws. Regarding his quote, he's also making a poor analogy: the sacrificial system is not addressed in the 10 Commandments at all, and no where did Christ "obliterate the Sabbath system." He practiced the Sabbath system and His holy death and resurrection are intertwined with that system. God bless you, brother:)

I read from the KJV and not from the newer so called modern translations.
I only proclaim the Gospel which is certainly good news seeing that if we will trust in His death, burial and resurrection for the forgiveness of our sins we are just that, forgiven our sins.
I look to Christ and Christ alone because He is my all. There is nothing good in the flesh, and to trust it with ones eternal destiny is crazy.
Romans 11:6 warns us to not mix our works with God’s grace because when we do so we have turned Gods grace into not grace.
Ephesians 2:8 says that our salvation is the gift of God, and that we are saved by grace through our faith.
Ephesians 2:9 says we are NOT saved by our works.
We all must do our part and spread the good news

Jesus calls God, The Father. We know Jesus as "The Son" and the Holy Spirit.
Did you recognize the terms? Father and Son.
Sound familiar? They should. They are terms that describe a family. A father a mother and a child (son or daughter).
In this same manner, we can have ONE family who is made up of (in this case) three distinct and separate people. Just as God is: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
Why doesn't "trinity" appear in the Bible? The same reason "saint" does not. or many other words. But, to make it a little harder to swallow, Jesus, when asked, "Why do you speak in riddles and parables?" Jesus replies, "If I told them plainly, they would repent, and I would have to forgive them".

I don't see anyone addressing "the answer" John was referring to. Maybe folks didn't listen to the end. Don't know. The answer is "Because in this way only could God display his Grace, His Mercy, His Love, His Wrath and His Sovereignty, His Omnipotence and Omniscience. Without sin, there would be no reason to glorify God nor would there be any facility to display God's Glory to man. Beyond that, the "Westminster Confessions" were written by extremely intelligent men who not only had heights of worldly knowledge, they also had wisdom in spiritual knowledge, they were great theologians and scholars. There are many, many great things written in the Westminster Confessions beyond Theodicy, which is fantastic. Here's the rub: For men to speak so profoundly about the Ordaining of Evil, the reason for it, the allowance of it, and yet the UN-AUTHORIZED use of it, because our Lord God Almighty is NOT Capable of evil in any way, shape or form, this is for humans to perceive as simply "I do NOT understand, I will NEVER understand, this thinking is far BEYOND man's capabilities, nor will these mysteries be revealed in Heaven." We can pick up many, many things from Scripture, for example: Exodus 9:16 "But I have raised you up for this very purpose, that I might show you my power and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth." ~ God was referring to Pharoah, hopefully that means something to Christians. Pharoah was an evil, evil man, but God proclaims that He raised this evil man up for HIS DIVINE PURPOSES. We can glean only so much from this. I would advise as a cautionary Christian to tread very carefully when speaking on the ordinance of Evil and speaking on "God's ultimate plan" for evil in accordance with His Good. While the Bible speaks on these things only to a small point WITHOUT deliberation, I would leave it at that, to men like the scholars of the Westminster Confessions or even John MacArthur. As Christians, I would think it much more pleasing to God (based on scripture and especially the teachings of John and Paul) that we concentrate MORE on "loving thy neighbor" and focusing on the redemptive work that Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, did on the Cross. Also, as Christians, we are here not only to glorify God; but also to proclaim the word of God. Topics like Theodicy are best left for the scholars and Biblical theologians. I am by no means anyone special, other than a lowly Christian. All I have to bring to my Lord God and Savior is my sin. That is it. I will continue to minister the gospel, but I will concentrate on the things that God allows us to understand in all certainty rather that the things that are only 'eluded' to in the Bible. In other words, it is alright (IMHO) to read and to accept these scriptures and small revelations that God gives us about His all-encompassing Power, Glory, Majesty and Sovereignty, but to assume to 'know the things of God in all certainty" .. well: Isaiah 55 says this: ~ “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways,” says the LORD. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts.” I am totally cool with this. I don't need to try to figure out how God can be associated with evil or how it is ordained or utilized by Him, at the same time being completely incapable of authorizing sin. These things are far too lofty a subject for us mere mortals. I like to concentrate on the perpetual cleansing of the Blood of Jesus Christ, our Fathers work on the cross, Salvation offered to sinners, the indewelling of the Holy Spirit, the Impunity of sin given GRACIOUSLY (not by works) from God to man via the Cross.... these are the things that show us God's love, which is most certainly equal to His wrath. My point: I believe God wants us to concentrate on His Saving Grace more than anything else. God, by nature is a Savior. He is the Way, the Truth and the Light. BTW, these thoughts were inspired by my brother, a Calvinist Christian and theologian of over 50 years. These words were his warning, I felt compelled to share them as I took serious note of them when they were spoken to me. It is easy to be intrigued by mysteries. This is why we have so many "Mystery Novels" .. we can easily get caught up in the mysteries of the Bible, but there is a difference. Refer back to Isaiah..... in Christ, to my brothers and sisters, and in love. Praise God!

The fact remains is that God has to allow evil, for a time, until the 'Lease of Dominion,' which He drafted up for Adam, then Adam forfeited into the hands of Satan, expires.
This is what the demons meant when they asked Christ, "Art thou come hither to torment us before the time?" (Matthew 8:29).
The demons were cognizant of the fact that even the Son of God Himself did not have the legal right to torment until the time that the Lease of Dominion, that was in the hands of their master, Satan, expires.
When once that 7 thousand year lease expires, then it will come to pass that "the kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of His Christ; and He shall reign for ever and ever" (Revelation 11:15).

We can also pray for the sick and they can indeed be healed. I have prayed for decades that God would deliver me from and heal me of my cluster migraines that I got daily. I have been migraine-free for over a year now. If Satan has defeated you in these areas of your life, then you should ad God for wisdom, guidance, and faith.

We need to ask ourselves and other people do you believe in Jesus " only, not what any man or woman preacher, prophet teaches. As we believe in Jesus and serve, worship, die and live for Him , don't get locked out of Heaven because you go to church on Saturday but I go on Sunday, I am born again Christian new creature in Jesus mighty name Amen

That's what Free Will is! It's a choice. God could've made us all choose Him. But He didn't. That's how we know God loves us. God tells us in His Word that he gave us the choice to choose life or death! Then he tells us which one to choose in order to save us from eternal Hell. Hell is a place absent of God! It was set aside for Satan, not human beings. But He gives us the choice to end up there or not. It's not complicated! Choose life eternal.

I started listening to John MacArthur when I saw so many issues with pentecostals who I found to be so deep into praying in tongues but did not respect scripture.
Unfortunately, this was the beginning of the deterioration of my spiritual walk. Sure, I learned how women should not be pastors etc and a bit about the way God intended the family to be. but I lost out on my fellowship with the Holy Spirit. plus I could not accept heresies such as once saved always saved.
In the end I disregarded what John MacArthur teaches and decided to believe the word of God. What a joy it has been for me. The Father has given me victory over sin in many areas of my life. my brothers and I have seen many healed, demons cast out, etc. this is the life of the new covenant that we have in Christ.

If that is why you don't like it then I fully agree - for the simple reason that the bible clearly states - the one who is saved cannot continue sinning!
So once one is truly saved - one begins a lifelong process of sanctification - repenting of known sins - becoming more and more like Christ every day. There is no continuing in the ways of the world.
Now, as for being saved for ever - do you not believe that no one can snatch the sheep out of the hands of the Father AND the Son? That is clearly written in the gospel of John. Who or what is going to remove you from the hands of GOD? Is anyone or anything out there more powerful? Are you and your sinful nature more powerful than God - the very God who plucked you out of your sins in the first place? I think you need to spend some really serious time rethinking your claimed belief in God. Is God really GOD and able to save to the uttermost? Or is the sinful mankind more powerful than GOD???? Think about that.

Whatever heresy you accuse MacArthur of, you'd be dead wrong. He's probably the most theologically sound preacher I've ever listened to. Usually it's modern day pharisees (legalists) who accuse reformed theologians of "heresy".

McArthur implies his own theology here and attempts to use his own understanding and falls way short. Lawlessness is a mystery, and he comes across as if he knows it... it is heresy. You cannot mention evils existence and NOT mention Lucifer being the first one use it.
I think that many Christians would have felt too intimidated to have proclaimed the gospel without compromise. I think most would have wilted and picked out, from what Madonna’s husband said, bits that they could agree with in order to pacify him. We like to be liked, too much! MacArthur was bold: we all must learn to be bold in real love, because souls are at stake; especially when you consider that he was in the other person’s home - much more difficult, psychologically; and psychology does come into it for us in the real world - though, with the Holy Spirit working powerfully through us in love (‘in the beauty of holiness’ (Psalm 29 v2 and Psalm 96 v9)) our own natural inhibitions should be minimal. We need much more of the Holy Spirit all the time, and we need to use healthy Christian DISCIPLINES, e.g. fasting and structured, sincere, fervent prayer and studying the gospel, to help us in our asking God for much more of the Holy Spirit. We really can’t do Jesus’ work - particularly proclaiming the FULL true gospel without compromising - without Him.

The word translated “evil” is from a Hebrew word that means “adversity, affliction, calamity, distress, misery.” Notice how the other major English Bible translations render the word: “disaster” (NIV, HCSB), “calamity” (NKJV, NAS, ESV), and “woe” (NRSV). The Hebrew word can refer to moral evil, and often does have this meaning in the Hebrew Scriptures. However, due to the diversity of possible definitions, it is unwise to assume that “I create evil” in Isaiah 45:7 refers to God bringing moral evil into existence.
(2) The context of Isaiah 45:7 makes it clear that something other than “bringing moral evil into existence” is in mind. The context of Isaiah 45:7 is God rewarding Israel for obedience and punishing Israel for disobedience. God pours out salvation and blessings on those whom He favors. God brings judgment on those who continue to rebel against Him. “Woe to him who quarrels with his Master” (Isaiah 45:9). That is the person to whom God brings “evil” and “disaster.” So, rather than saying that God created “moral evil,” Isaiah 45:7 is presenting a common theme of Scripture - that God brings disaster on those who continue in hard-hearted rebellion against Him.

Hello, Jesus is comparing the "traditions" that men added to his 10. They made the traditions more important than the 10 commandments that He, God, gave them. I ask that you read the whole chapter. Also if following the traditions of the pharisees draws you closer to the understanding of God's glory, then go ahead.

Joel Osteen preaches a gospel of grace for ALL. He is by no means a perfect man nor does he claim to have all the answers to difficult questions. JM preaches election and Calvinism. Have you read the parable of the Pharisee and the Tax Collector?

He has said there are multiple ways to get to heaven, he has denied what is clearly in scripture to avoid being attacked when asked difficult questions around homosexuality, or other religions. Saying at the end of his sermons "...come into my heart I make you my Lord and Savior" is not the gospel. He needs to tell people that we are sinners (and actually use that word), that we need a Savior and that Jesus came, God the Son in human flesh, to be the sacrifice for our sins. He was buried and rose again on the third day, defeating death and sin, and those who believe in Him and repent of their sins will be born again. And if what you say is true, and he chooses to save the most important thing he could share for when millions AREN'T watching, then he is a false teacher. When he is viewed by millions on Oprah talking about homoesexuality being a sin and he can't answer that, or if Muslims will make it to heaven believing what they believe and he doesn't answer that, he is a false teacher. He should be shouting from the rooftops about salvation, especially having the platform that he has, but he doesn't. Why do you think that is? Because he would rather be popular and rich then be disliked for his beliefs. That is NOT a preacher or someone who is to be shepherding us. I feel so grateful to God for bringing me out of that because I was dead to my sin, on my way to hell listening to Joel, but now I am not. Yes John McArthur is straight down the line on God's Word second one is David Wilkerson. I gave up on all the others as there was so many wrong things done and said. I went through all that I thank Jesus for saving from all the incorrect things taught and done against God's Will

TRUE- his point. All through Exodus, God hardens Pharaoh's heart, referenced again in Romans 9:17 - 18. Same chapter, vs. 13, "Jacob have I loved but Esau have I hated." Evil exists because we are all born as evil beings (Job - "full of trouble") in need of a savior; some are more evil than others but all do NADA of themselves except that God wills them (Romans 9:21: "Hath not the potter power over the clay...to make one vessel unto honor and another unto dishonor?"). Evil is perpetrated by those of extreme dishonor, history seemingly shows!

I agree with your point but do not know where the fine line is between the two IF, in fact, we have ANY self-will. I do not understand His ways, but I DO believe what we perceive as our own will is our own MISperception - and that He knew in advance of creating us what our hearts would be. The Scripture I quoted earlier is quite clear: some people are created as objects of His eventual wrath, but people don't want to hear that God is anything but loving and kind and grades on a curve. He IS loving and kind, which is why He came to be our sacrifice, yet look at His wrath toward His own chosen people and how He gave them up to their own sin so many times.

When people ask me why God created Adam & Eve when He knew they would sin; or why He gave them the choice to; I run through a number of possibilities which I, in my very limited understanding and knowledge of what the almighty, infinite and all-wise God has revealed of Himself and nature in Scripture, have reasoned, but I always finish with the conclusion that at the end of time when we are with Him in glory and look back at all He has done and will do with perfect knowledge (1 Cor 13:12), we will stand in awe and and wonder marvelling at his glorious work in creating and redeeming mankind (Ephesians 2:7), and agree that not only was his decision to create Adam and Eve the way He did the only way but the most glorious way! Amen.
Wow! This answered a question I have been carrying ever since I came to Christ in 1975. I always got stuck on why God allowed evil (satan) into the garden of Eden in the first place, in order to tempt Adam and Eve - and to which temptation they inevitably fell for, thus dooming us all to this day. My thoughts were, why didn’t God just allow them to be happy and innocent and why therefore, did He allow evil to seduce them? Was it all about exercising free will to choose? So many questions! If God already foreknew we would fall, had He planned this all along, so that He might demonstrate His redemption? Did He have an imperative that we must be tested in order to prove our love for Him?
Guy and Madonna are divorced now. I wonder if it was really his belief or inflicted on him by her. She was always odd. I wonder how his equilibrium is now.

He preaches a W.A.S.P. version of the Gospel, not the actually fully Gospel as revealed in God's holy Word.
Madonna is a great musical performer and had a good chunk of high quality 80's pop hits. It's a shame she's so worldly with her image. Cyndi Lauper managed to have a different image without being so overtly sexual. I'm not sure why Madonna couldn't have followed that kind of path.
