You could try RCB - Racing Boy... It is worth it. If not that, then Brembo (Original and not master copy). I recently bought Scram 411. I have bought Fuel X Pro (Not installed yet) and am planning for BMC filer once the warranty gets over, however, without these the current ECU is a pain in the rear. @@bigbearbangalore which is the handle bar (red one) u got. not seen this before on any video. I been considering to change to artofmotorcycle one which is rated well but curious to know which one you used
I found your video extremely helpful. I have a doubt which is eating up my mind for a long now. 1. Does new Himalayan BS6 comes with electronic lock on top speed? I have tried to test it on highway many times, tried to drag over 120 but it never crossed the 120 kmph threshold 2. Read in online forums that people have claimed that they achieved between 140-150 kmph speed but I’m not able to achieve it no matter how much I try to push. Am I doing something wrong or do I need to add modifications (like ECU) Your feedback is most important. Appreciate your technical analysis of the bike. PS I have Himalayan BS6 sleet black model and have clocked around 1500 kms running as of now. I don’t want to be impatient and try pushing the machine but I’m clueless
Hello. The Himalayan is electronically limited on rpm hence top speed is limited to about 120-125. More top speed is possible with addon ECU which removes the limiter. Acceleration improvements can be done with BMC air filter and FuelX Pro units, which is what I recommend. Regards.
I love the modification and the thought process behind it! I was wondering whether the stock himalayan spokes + hub were used with the takasago excel rim in the front? Or perhaps did you get it replaced along with the rim? Thanks!
@@bigbearbangalorethanks for the reply! Is the front rim width 90, if so are you using the stock 90/90 tire? I'm looking for takasago excel rims (21 diameter) but can only find 160 size for it..
I was always curious if crash guards should be deformable under impact or not as in cars we have crumple zones to absorb impact energy. So the RE crash guards do make sense because much of the impact is not going into the chassis frame. Aftermarket guards as said are very large. Maybe a small amount of heat also my be trapped. Nice classy Himalayan there, thanks for making this video.
Any crash protection is at its most effective when it deforms and absorbs impact. Else its just transmitting the forces to the component it is attached to. Happy to read that you liked the mods & the video. Cheers!
Sir that’s quite a lot of thoughtful weight reduction and awaiting your next video for numbers 😀 and please do a ride video on your next ride to the land of Sun Sand and Sea
sir , I think you should go for redrooster exhaust for the royal enfield Himalayan.. it looks like stock one, weighs less, sounds good.. not so loud.. but yah.. it's a lil bit costly.. .. approx 10k
Hello B, firstly salute to the work. Just curuiuos, will the the bs6 rear luggage rack for on my bs3 model for better reinforcement. Lastly where do I get the tank mat/cover like yours, looks very purposeful. Thanks in advance!
Thank you! And the BS6 rack should fit the BS3. And the tank bag base is from Dirt Sack. Happy to hear that you have a BS3. They are fast but were fragile but guess it's all been fixed now with the more reliable and modified parts from RE.
@@bigbearbangalorevery proud to be a an old school Bs3 Himalayan. Never gave up or gave in on me at any point in time given that I respect my bike and prohibit abusing it as you emphasized them to be abit fragile. Keep nailing with the aweosme work. Salute B!!
Hi sir, you have customaed an awesome bike👌. I’m looking for a suggestion from you, I’ve been thinking of buying a bs4 Himalayan which had driven 50k. Would it be worth buying it at 1.15 lac.😅
@@bigbearbangalore Thanks. I was planning to fit the FuelX lite version for my BS6 Interceptor. The fuel pump failed recently with the bike run just 7k kms. Do you think fitting this will have any adverse effect on the replaced fuel pump?
Hi! No it should not have any effect. The FuelX sends signals from the O2 sensor to the ECU to inject a marginally richer fuel mixture. No connection with the pump. And if budget permits go for the top version. Thanks.
Guess you can name every parts you have chnaged clearly in description or in comments... Importantly the tyre rim, handle bar, free clutch... Kindly name thise brands with cost 😁👍 would be glad if you do so...
Excellent video sir. I own a Himalayan. What is the brand of Horns that you use? Mine is stock and completely useless considering i ride mostly through Ghats ..
Thanks for the sub. Part 2 of the Muddy Hog video will have the details of the weight loss and cost. Likely wull upload to YT is early next week. Cheers!
Is there a way to install an aftermarket front fender on to the Himalayan?....reducing the space between fender and headlight would make it look cooler.
I am 6ft tall, weigh roughly about 95kgs, Age- 24 .Previous bike was Xpulse 4V which got stuck in a office building fire and sadly couldn't make it. Looking for a new bike. Looking for a used bike. I am looking for a bike which will serve a dual purpose of city riding, highway runs (touring). I am getting a friend's bs6 Himalayan (20k kms on the odo). Should one consider a used himalayan? Or should I go something like a bs6 dominar 400 for the same price in the used market. What do you think i should consider? Open to more suggestions. I will go and check them out.
Hi there! Would you happen to remember the rear hub that was used? Was it an interceptor rear hub, or stock Himalayan hub with interceptor spokes and rim? Thanks so much! 13:50
Sir, i want a suggestion from you. I am thinking of getting a side scooter for my interceptor 650 so that it will be a comfortable ride for my daughter when we go on rides. She is 5yrs old and its simply not wise to make her sit at the back or in front of me on my bike during rides for all possible obvious reasons and she is a kid afterall. I believe a side car is the best option for the fact that it allows her to sit comfortably just like the way she would sit in a car and it will also hold some extra luggage. Whats your say on this?
The Scram is a good motorcycle. And coincidentally we have a video of our take on the Scram that'll be uploaded on this Thu night. Request that you view it. And a very good question, yes why not the Scram you ask. Valid point and we did not select one because it's got a 19" front, does not have the chassis bracket to support the headlamp and meter console, poor seat for adventure touring, no rear rack, poorly designed side covers. And while we can address most with the mods, a couple of them we cannot modify without welding work which we want to avoid. All the mods we do are reversible without involving cutting or welding. Besides the Scram is only in BS6 and it's harder to make it go faster than the BS4. And the BS4 comes with Keihin Japanese FI system while the BS6 (bar a few first lot) come with the Indian Continental FI electronics. There is a marked difference between them in terms of throttle response. Cheers!
With the outex installed, will it not be a hindrance while truing the spokes? This has been one of my major concerns, and haven’t been able to have a satisfactory answer. Very much eager to know your take on this. Also, how much weight adding an 18” aluminium rims saved?
Hi. The Outex has accounted for this and so truing can be done without unsettling the tape. There are special stickers that are pasted on the nipples for this purpose. The rear wheel assembly weight saving was about 1.2 kg if I remember correctly. Cheers!
Sir, is the cylcops LED that you are using a plug and play? Or do we need to make any changes to the stock set up? And lasty is it really worth the performance/money or its better to go with auxiliaries? Thanks for your response!
Stock Himalayan BS6 is 200 kgs. How much you have reduced the weight after the modifications??? I love the Muddy hog... all the necessary modifications.
There is a grey area with the Scram. I've been told that the Scram declared weight is dry weight and not kerb weight wiith all fluids. So it would be above 190 kerb.
Amazing sir... Please keep posting... Thank you very much... Do you have any solution for RE Bullet 500 handle bar vibrations??? Please suggest if any...
@@bigbearbangalore Thank you for your reply... I am planning to sell existing RE and purchase something new, interesting. I am inclined towards Suzuki V Storm SX 250. What are your views? Or shall I wait for Himalayan 450? Thank you very much in advance...
How are you handling the brake caliper issue while keep on riding in traffic?. Are you always buy a caliper set which costs more than 7k plus for every 20-30k. Also how abt the front frame which joins front wheel and the chassis. I broke mine in BS4 Himalayan
Which camshaft is better according to you, the TEC camshaft or the NMW racing one? Obviously TEC has a better reputation but its price is also more than double of what the NMW one retails for.
Is it possible to share where one can get some of the parts that you have added. Maybe online links or offline store locations. I am especially interested in adding aluminium tubeless rims for my scram 411.
Hello. The rear you can consider the 18" Interceptor rear aluminium rim from any RE spares shop. And then you will need to lace them with the proper spokes and you'll need to buy a suitable tubeless rear tyre. Suitable front 19" alu rims are hard to get so you'll need to live with the steel. And since 95% of flat tyres happen on the rear, you may change just that and install the Outex kit. Cheers!
Having driven both stock 120/90r17 and 120/80r18, how much does it affect the handling of Himalayan as per your experience, especially for adventure riding?
Yes, in theory it does reduce the degree of plate disengagement in proportion to the throw of the lever. So, one will need to pull the lever more around the hinge to maintain the full disengagement, if you get what I mean. And since the lever is soft, this is easy to do. So, no harm to the plates or gearbox. Of course, it is recommended to not idle for long in gear with the clutch pulled in. There is bound to be some drag. Cheers!
Hmmm, I would suggest a BMC filter and an S&S exhaust. This will deliver perciptible performance upgrade and maximum bang for the buck. If not S&S, any popular Indian brand is also OK. Cheers!
Thanks. On my Xpulse 2V, I installed a BMC air filter and installed Excel aluminium rims which has made it slightly sprightly. Better than stock. Accelerates faster and handles a lot better. And the FuelX Pro is available for the 4V. With these there'll be an improvement in acceleration and throttle response.
Hello. I've installed the Outex only on the rear wheel which is an 18" from the Interceptor 650. There are a few videos on UA-cam on the Outex installation process.
It's been on the motorcycle for over 7,000 kms including a 3,000 kms trip of the Ladakh and the rest on regular highways. And I'll share my feedback and experience about it on my Insta channel. Thanks for the suggestion.
i own a meteor 350 , i would love to see some modification on the bike from your perspective which you think are required and would make my ride more enjoyable and safe?
Am not much into cruiser motorcycles. Lemme see if there is anything useful I can share. A little more throttle response can be got with a BMC air-filter and the FuelX device.
Full off road tyres have too aggressive a pattern for my use so I stuck to dual purpose. I need good tarmac performance since the motorcycles will spend 70% of it's time on tarmac.
@@bigbearbangalore One dealer who sells excel rim itself told me it's not suitable for offroading. Now confused in going with RCB aluminium rims or excel rims. Both are having good reviews.
Sir please user experience of aluminum rim and easy clutch . Thinking to change stock wheels to aluminium rims and tubless thing . Can we use in terrain
Aluminium rims are good for any normal use anywhere. I have used Excel for 3 trips to the Himalayas and no issues. At altitude above 10,000 feet a drop in PSI will help. Thanks.
Not one contradicting post... Not one challanging the technicality of the mods Either he is the ultimate or most here got taken in with his presentation... 🤔🧐
My plan was to purchase 411 Change following things 1)2kg lighter RK Takasago Aluminium Front rim 2)2kg lighter RK Takasago Aluminium Rear rim 3)3M Marine adhesive for tubeless conversion 4)Pirelli Scorpion STR tires 5)Internal TPTMS 6)2kg lighter RK Takasago Chain Sprocket 7)2kgs Lighter YSS Front Suspension 8)2kgs Lighter YSS rear suspension 9)2kg light Slip on Exhaust 10)2kg light Lithium Ion Battery 11)Removing the jerry can holders & adding movable lighter Led headlight 12)Powertronics ECU & Fuel X 13)so Saree guard removal All was amounting to 14 Kgs weight reduction But then I saw Himalayan dry weight is 188Kgs which gets to 201 Kgs by the time it gets out of showroom. These mods will reduce it to 188 Kgs. Still same mods can be done on Yezdi Adventure which is still 210 Kgs, that tank guard weigh 8kg so even it's weight reduces to 188 Kgs but with more powerful engine. This makes sense to own Yezdi Adventure more than Himalayan
Great weight reduction plan. And yes the Yezdi Adv has more power to weight ratio but it is a bit crudely built and feels quite unrefined in NVH and fit & finish. However if those are not show stoppers for you, am sure you can have a good time on it. Cheers!

I got some more insights on the certain modifications that I can do on the bike, like the light and handlebars, and might probably get a tubeless rim when I need to change the tyres. Thank you!!!
Thanks for the suggestion. Cheers!
The new Himalayan makers have taken some cues from this video. For sure
👍
Sir amazing work . Location is g8 and it’s the same one where we saw u 5 days ago .
1. Sir what’s the riding pant you are wearing ?
2. You Scott riding shirt is superb
3. Sir can you share the DIY mount you are using for the mobile holder ( GPS)
Thank you.

Thanks for this detailed video. i owns a Himalayan BS6 and completely in love with my bike but i do want to make it lighter. I am in bangalore and would like to meet you and discuss himalayan
Sure!
I have tried to test it on highway many times, tried to drag over 120 but it never crossed the 120 kmph threshold
2. Read in online forums that people have claimed that they achieved between 140-150 kmph speed but I’m not able to achieve it no matter how much I try to push.
Am I doing something wrong or do I need to add modifications (like ECU)
Your feedback is most important.
Regards.
Mind blowing work
🙏
Thanks for the video sir I learned something 💯 for my Man🖤
Glad to hear it. Thanks.
I love the modification and the thought process behind it! I was wondering whether the stock himalayan spokes + hub were used with the takasago excel rim in the front? Or perhaps did you get it replaced along with the rim? Thanks!
Thanks. Royal Enfield spokes.
@@bigbearbangalorethanks for the reply! Is the front rim width 90, if so are you using the stock 90/90 tire? I'm looking for takasago excel rims (21 diameter) but can only find 160 size for it..
Need to check the size. Stock size Takasago as far as I remember.
Cheers!
Yes, I agree it's best for the bike frame when the crash bars bend and absorb impact, however, they will work great once and need to be replaced.
@@L--Z But it should be such that the legs don't get trapped during a fall. Moreover the rider also may have to get away from the bike.
The legs don't get trapped under the deforming RE made guards. It's too small to bend & wrap itself around the riders legs.
@@bigbearbangalore I have seen cases, where the foot is between the bar is what I meant.
Sir that’s quite a lot of thoughtful weight reduction and awaiting your next video for numbers 😀 and please do a ride video on your next ride to the land of Sun Sand and Sea

Salute B!!
@1987GOURAV Thanks. I had a BS3 and had a good time on it too.
Hi sir, you have customaed an awesome bike👌. I’m looking for a suggestion from you, I’ve been thinking of buying a bs4 Himalayan which had driven 50k. Would it be worth buying it at 1.15 lac.😅
Buy it if you like it. Am not familiar with pricing.
Nicely done. Does the fuelX need the piggyback ECU to work with? Thanks
FuelX is an independent device.
Thanks.
@@bigbearbangalore Got the pro version fitted today at RD. One more question, does a rich setting foul the spark plus?
Great! Nope I don't think it will cos the changes from rich to lean are actually quite marginal in the overall air fuel mixture scale.
Guess you can name every parts you have chnaged clearly in description or in comments... Importantly the tyre rim, handle bar, free clutch... Kindly name thise brands with cost 😁👍 would be glad if you do so...

Is there a way to install an aftermarket front fender on to the Himalayan?....reducing the space between fender and headlight would make it look cooler.
There would be a way. We've seen a couple motorcycles with that set up.
I've sent a DM to your insta account. Cheers!
Hi there! Would you happen to remember the rear hub that was used? Was it an interceptor rear hub, or stock Himalayan hub with interceptor spokes and rim? Thanks so much! 13:50
Stock hub
Sir, i want a suggestion from you. I am thinking of getting a side scooter for my interceptor 650 so that it will be a comfortable ride for my daughter when we go on rides. She is 5yrs old and its simply not wise to make her sit at the back or in front of me on my bike during rides for all possible obvious reasons and she is a kid afterall. I believe a side car is the best option for the fact that it allows her to sit comfortably just like the way she would sit in a car and it will also hold some extra luggage. Whats your say on this?
Please check if a sidecar is allowed as per RTO rules.
Hi,
What’s your take on the scram411 ?
Would that make sense instead of all the mods/effort in making the bike lighter ?
Cheers!
Plz suggest spoket for bullet 500 ..
@abdulrazik1166 RE sprocket
Sir, is the cylcops LED that you are using a plug and play? Or do we need to make any changes to the stock set up? And lasty is it really worth the performance/money or its better to go with auxiliaries? Thanks for your response!
It's a cyclops direct fit. It's works well but it's several years old and due for a change to an updated variant.
Sir..installing a 18inch wheel is ok..but question is do u made any modification on rear swingarm?
Hi! No changes to swing arm.
Stock Himalayan BS6 is 200 kgs. How much you have reduced the weight after the modifications???
I love the Muddy hog... all the necessary modifications.
About 12 to 15 kg. Thanks.
@@bigbearbangalore Just like the Scram 411... which is around 185 kgs .
There is a grey area with the Scram. I've been told that the Scram declared weight is dry weight and not kerb weight wiith all fluids. So it would be above 190 kerb.
@@bigbearbangalore still, it's lighter than Himalayan.
Amazing sir... Please keep posting... Thank you very much... Do you have any solution for RE Bullet 500 handle bar vibrations??? Please suggest if any...
Thank you!
Am sorry, a long stroke single comes with the bar vibes. No realistic solution. Cheers!
@@bigbearbangalore Thank you for your reply... I am planning to sell existing RE and purchase something new, interesting. I am inclined towards Suzuki V Storm SX 250. What are your views? Or shall I wait for Himalayan 450? Thank you very much in advance...
The SX is a great motorcycle and I suggest up8 wait for the H450 and then make your choice. Cheers!
How are you handling the brake caliper issue while keep on riding in traffic?. Are you always buy a caliper set which costs more than 7k plus for every 20-30k. Also how abt the front frame which joins front wheel and the chassis. I broke mine in BS4 Himalayan
I haven't changed calipers neither in my BS3 nor on this and my chassis hasn't broken.
Which camshaft is better according to you, the TEC camshaft or the NMW racing one? Obviously TEC has a better reputation but its price is also more than double of what the NMW one retails for.
Haven't used either. Unable to comment.
@@bigbearbangalore Could you maybe ask around? It's very rare to find somebody with an upgraded camshaft on the Himalayan.
I felt no majorl handling change. And because I moved from the Indian Ceat to soft rubber Avon, there was more grip on tarmac.
One more question, the easy clutch reduce the travel of the clutch, does it makes any impact on clutch plates and gear changes??
Yes, in theory it does reduce the degree of plate disengagement in proportion to the throw of the lever. So, one will need to pull the lever more around the hinge to maintain the full disengagement, if you get what I mean. And since the lever is soft, this is easy to do. So, no harm to the plates or gearbox. Of course, it is recommended to not idle for long in gear with the clutch pulled in. There is bound to be some drag. Cheers!
Please upload a list of all mods done, brands used and their prices if it is ok with you. Good job by the way.
Thanks. I've not listed them per say but just mentioned in the video.
What is the one performance upgrade (just one) you'd suggest on an interceptor. Pov: I'm a college student with not a lot of money to spare on mods
Hmmm, I would suggest a BMC filter and an S&S exhaust. This will deliver perciptible performance upgrade and maximum bang for the buck.
If not S&S, any popular Indian brand is also OK. Cheers!
Super b
Thank you
Is this a new Himalayan that you modified?
Waiting for the video on the 4 questions. My guess is that these mods would have costed almost 1lakh😅
This is a 2018 BS4. Yes it cost more than the motorcycle itself😉. Cheers!
Hi, that Powertronic, is it a piggyback or a replacement to the stock ECU?
Hi. It's a piggy back ECU.
Hi , great video. What would you suggest as a mod to increase power on the xpulse 200 4v bs6? Finding it a bit lacking on the highway 😂.
Thank you for the suggestions 🙌🏻
👍
Have you converted your wheels into tubeless tyres?
If yes, please do a detailed video on it.

Hello. I've installed the Outex only on the rear wheel which is an 18" from the Interceptor 650. There are a few videos on UA-cam on the Outex installation process.

Full off road tyres have too aggressive a pattern for my use so I stuck to dual purpose. I need good tarmac performance since the motorcycles will spend 70% of it's time on tarmac.

Change following things
1)2kg lighter RK Takasago Aluminium Front rim
2)2kg lighter RK Takasago Aluminium Rear rim
3)3M Marine adhesive for tubeless conversion
4)Pirelli Scorpion STR tires
5)Internal TPTMS
6)2kg lighter RK Takasago Chain Sprocket
7)2kgs Lighter YSS Front Suspension
8)2kgs Lighter YSS rear suspension
9)2kg light Slip on Exhaust
10)2kg light Lithium Ion Battery
11)Removing the jerry can holders & adding movable lighter Led headlight
12)Powertronics ECU & Fuel X
13)so Saree guard removal
All was amounting to 14 Kgs weight reduction
But then I saw Himalayan dry weight is 188Kgs which gets to 201 Kgs by the time it gets out of showroom.
Cheers!
