  • Hello,
    In the Part 2 of the video on the modified Royal Enfield Himalayan, we compare it against a stock Himalayan to know how fast it is, how lighter it is and how much did all the mods cost.
    Hope you enjoy the video. Cheers!

    Honestly, i was expecting a leaner member Muddy Hog 411 when you started on the project. You have done it perfectly. After upgrading to the Adv 390 from the Himalayan, i realised there are so many things RE could have done better seeing the mods on your bike. I also rode it for about some time on our return leg and quickly realised how much change it is to the stock version. The clutter was missing, the acceleration was great and the confidence of holding it at high speeds. I clocked 110 or so on the speedo and it was rock solid.
    It's a big amount you have spent on making it the machine that ideally a manufacturer should look to do in the first place.

    • @bigbearbangalore
      @bigbearbangalore  Рік тому +2

      Hi. The mods that I did are reversible. Nothing permanent. No cutting or welding. And this is as far as I could go without getting extreme about it. And I think the Muddy is in a good place. Perhaps down the line some minor mods would keep happening.
      Thanks for the kind comment and thanks for the camera work. Cheers!

    You have some good and sensible mods on your bike, especially the YSS suspension and the lighter rims. 2.5 kg weight reduction on the front rim is a lot!

    • @bigbearbangalore
      @bigbearbangalore  Рік тому +2

      Thanks!
      The stock front wheel is really heavy and at 21" it's got max potential for weight savings. Rear we saved about 1 kg having moved to 18" regular Excel rims and had we used the Takasago 17" the savings would have been close to 2.0 kg. The Excel Takasago Japan rims are international motocross competition aluminium alloy rims so no surprises that they are so light.

    • @twowheeledparadox
      @twowheeledparadox Рік тому +2

      @@bigbearbangalore Yes, the weight saving on the rear is also significant but on the front the gyroscopic effect is greater due to the larger diameter. So, a 2.5 kg reduction there must have improved handling tremendously.

    • @bigbearbangalore
      @bigbearbangalore  Рік тому

      Oh yes! It's significantly more flickable at any speeds. The gyro effect is huge on the stock wheel. And the lighter unsprung mass has improved the bumpy road behaviour. The front is now more planted, stable and responds well.

    • @twowheeledparadox
      @twowheeledparadox Рік тому +1

      @@bigbearbangalore Nice! Indeed the reduced gyroscopic effect would improve handling and the reduced unsprung weight would improve suspension performance which will in turn allow the front tyre to grip the road better.

    Hi. I really like your videos. I feel they carry quality, detail and integrity. For example, you guys talk about engine clatter, engine heat, etc, which many reviewers don't mention. You guys mentioned that the mods greatly reduced the engine clatter. Which exact mod did that? I love the bike, but the engine noise really gets on my nerves. That and the engine heat. I have been hunting and trying ways to reduce them for some years now.

    Great video as always. I’ve always felt that there’s a lot more that can be achieved from the Himalayan and your modifications are simple proof of that. They are thought through after recognising the traits of the bike. I’m also running my BS3 with the touring seat and touring handlebar and a BMC filter for quite a few years now. These alone make a huge difference. Would like your advice on the tubeless conversion- is it advisable to do an Outex conversion on stock rims? Thank you

    • @bigbearbangalore

      The Outex is for use only on tubeless compatible rims and will not work on stock rims. Too many things can go wrong. So I suggeat that you use it only when you change the rims. Regards.

      Plan B you see. There is more to it than just what I shared. When the front wheel is off say to fix a punchure and when on a jack, the strap is useful. Thanks.

      @@bigbearbangalorerather than anything goes or 'as I say'. I'd be happy to be proven wrong with facts or add the correction in your next video that you were wrong. That would be logical and reasonable.
