EFI has been a pain in the ass on many of my bikes. It needs so many extra sensors, plugs, cables, ecu, fuel pump, tps, etc. just so much that can go wrong (and will, on an older bike) and is horrible to troubleshoot. Also, changing pipes and aircleaner messes up the mixture and retuning an ecu is not always possible without chiptuning. Carb problems? Just open it up, clean, screw together, open the fuel valve and of you go. Adjusting a carb is easy once you know how and can be done with only a screwdriver. Way better. Only thing i like with efi bikes is the cold start. Thats nice and easy, but thats it for me. Damn injection only made it to motorcycles because of emision laws.
@@keesketsers5866 Yes...I'm in New Zealand, and just bought a RE Himalayan, and chose the BS4 carb model (also no ABS) for your very reasons. I believe this model will become collectible...!
@@paulvanderhaegen761 normally a carb is a down grade (and admittedly you may loose some power and economy), but for the kind of bike the Himalayan is, it wouldn't be a bad idea. Heck, you seem to have to do more maintenance on this bike than others, but the maintenance is a lot easier than said bike, so a carb would be in the same mindset.
The frontal side bags also work great at keeping wind off the upper legs. I used to have a KLR with a big 10gallon tank that kept wind off my legs. Now with the front bags on my Himalayan I love it's effect on wind.
Nice upgrades. I wish you were in the states. Since, "Itchyboots" , I've been very impressed with the bike. I like toys and would love to have the upgraded bike exactly as you have presented it. Thanks for sharing all of the information. Barry
This bike needs to be a 500 with a carb. Everyone begging for the overweight, underpowered 650 twin are totally missing the point. Congratulations on showing RE what can be done. Thank you for sharing
Assuming RE expands its beachhead in the USA, I'd expect some kind of deluxe Himalayan Hitchcock Edition, fully upgraded with all the stuff, to hit the US market in the next couple years.
Now and then, there are those who are clamouring for a bigger engine on the HimALayan. But Noraly would have been singing a different song when gas levels got lower faster in the wastelands of Chile and Argentina.
What the Himalayan needs is a 650cc twins engine that's on the INT650 and a lighter frame and suspension and it'll be ready to take on most middleweight motorcycles in that class globally.
Looks like this crew REALLY knows what the hell they are doing! They've turned this 'nice' bike, to a world kicking ADV bike :) Well done sirs,,,well done.
Except for the fact that the carb is really tight to remove and reinstall on the Himalayan, I would prefer a carb. To tune with an FI you'll need a lot of things other than just a bigger venturi or jets sizes. The OE unit is a narrow band O2 sensor, so we will have to start by installing a wideband sensor for measuring AFR and then follow thru with a fuel controller that works in conjunction with the throttle position and load (MAF) + advanced ignition timing maybe like mentioned in the video using a piggy back unit. what i'd like to see Hitchcock make, however, would be a high lift camshaft with more duration as the OE camshaft is SO MILD.
Those upgrades make that bike even more appealing dont stop there there is just something about that motorcycle I've never ridden one but it us getting more appealing all the time and you guys are right itchy boots could use them if like the bore kit is proven reliable I didnt see a heated seat or grip upgrade maybe I missed it
I wached on u tube ichy boots she took one of theses bike across India plus it showed how good this bike is and one woman on her own no chase team to help her She proves the Himalayan is a good work horse and women are equal to men ... 👍🇬🇧
I'm not knocking the bike or the upgrade (I own an Inceptor) but at some point it makes more sense to consider a CFR250L, DRZ 400 or KTM 390 ADV or a slightly used dual-sport and have money left over for usable luggage. I mean, this requires engine management and that's another $250 that's if you have the skills to do it yourself, you'd be better served getting a bike with more hwy power and better suspension from the get go and a 250cc will do that. I'm am glad Hitchcocks has an option for people who need a little more oomph and love the bike.
Okay so im doing a thing to my Himalayan turning it into a rat chopper and I was wondering if you make a forward engine crash guard that would be a bit better for putting highway pegs on like a cruiser? All the sets I have found are to narrow to use like that. I've put the upgraded cam and exhaust, changed my light and cluster to be fork mounted, got a sissy bar, put on an eagle fender ornament, installed tusk luggage, slapped on some mini ape hangers with all the electronic device retention stuff, a lighter and cup holder but I want to be able to put my legs in the forward control position for those extra long sections of road.
A lot of upgrades for such an inexpensive motorcycle. Going to start approaching the next tier of motorcycles if you do all those upgrades. Will probably start overriding the suspension performance with the increased power so now there is more money to spend. Never ending!
@@Dave-sw2dm I am sorry if it offended you. what I meant to say was there is always going to be a thriving aftermarket for popular global motorcycles like the himalayan. however, its your prerogative to use those parts or ride the motorcycle stock OE.
I have been wanting one of these for a couple years now and was trying to get one this summer, a local (5-hours away) started carrying these. The issue comes down to power, I am sure it will be fine for a while, but honestly feel like with that large of an engine it should have at least 30-32 hp. Admittedly, I am not a power-hungry guy, just a slightly larger one. Edit: Still unsure whether one will be bought this year. The money is there but looking at a career change due to covid and would need the cash during training to make ends meet for a few months. I may have to wait one more year, maybe then a larger displacement can be had.
Hi, we have had some improved steering bearings for the past 12+months and are working on a improved seat, the steering bearings can be seen on the link below: accessories.hitchcocksmotorcycles.com/accessory-shop/Tapper-Roller-Bearings/41416
Looks like some well thought out modifications. I will say that the Dyno plot does look like there is a limiting factor at high rpm. Is this an issue with flow in the head? I assume the fueling system has been upgraded.
This is the Himalayan that should have come from the factory. My concern is adding all these necessary accessories will make it as expensive as a more capable bike.
@ Hitchcocks Motorcycles ........... Good effort! But if these are the newest mods you guys have done to a BS4 Himalayan, then you guys missed the bus by two years. I am based in India and I had these upgrades way back in 2017. And approximately 50% more, including a fully adjustable front and a fully adjustable rear suspension.

I so wish they had put a kicker on this then it would have sold double. My old ybr had both push start and a kick start, when the electric start failed one morning I just kicked it & rode to work. Should have kept that bike.
Could you do a comparison with standard bike, your upgrade kit, powertronic and your upgrade plus powertronic fitted so we can see what the difference on the dyno graph.
It would be better to port the cylinder head along with installing the big bore kit to reset peak power rpm to the stock value. Otherwise, you lose rpm range (or you gain absolutely no power at top rpm).
I've visited your website and cant locate the 462cc big bore kit. Perhaps I'm blind or tech savy dumb. Do you still offer the big bore, the upgraded clutch and de-catted exhaust pipe? Thank you for your help, Kind regards.
Cool stuff but what is the total cost of these upgrades including the bike itself? Does it put it in the next class of bike that already comes with these upgrades at the same price or below? I'm thinking about a Himmy as my first bike but I don't want to have to spend a lot more on upgrades and such to just make the thing run right.
chris fletcher the chart shows the increase in BHP and its at lower RPM too. I guess it’s time for you to call Hitchcocks to ask them for a test ride if you want to know more.
The HP Gain was about 4. Which is about a 20% increase. More importantly was the torque increase had a large bump which will help you accelerate faster. Torque = quickness HP = top speed
@@joshwahhill8385 Thanks, 4BHP increase is not bad, does make me wonder if there was much increase in top speed. I agree the extra torque would help acceleration considering the rear sprockets would now require a bit more shift
Looks like a 3-4 HP gain, again, the calibration is off and we cant see the different ignition/fueling maps so you would not be able to tell. I think RE refrained from increasing power to keep the mileage around 33-35 kmpl for the Indians, where fuel can be expensive. 30 HP for its current weight means you can sustain highway speeds all day without breaking sweat, but you would probably get a mileage of around 30 kmpl.
Great video and fantastic parts 👍🏻 Can you help ? I really like the Himalayan but find the stock seat pushing me forward and my knees go over the groove of the tank, this makes the ride relay uncomfortable. Would you have a solution for this ? Also top comfort for my passenger mane also with a sissy bar, back-part for more comfort in her back ?
Grea t job on the upgrades! To bad you could not film this on a sunny day, black day on black motor makesm it hard to see. I do understand tha t you only get a few of those days a year!
Herb Wag , fortunately, where I live I don’t need to be around traffic to enjoy my Himalayan. BTW, it can maintain 70 mph for a couple exits if needed and sustained 65 is no problem, but 55 and below is where it shines.
@@herbwag6456 Honestly, I've sat quite happily at 65mph all day above 6,000ft with it. Yes, it's happiest at 55, but it'll give you no trouble cruising 65 all day either. 70 does feel like you're pushing it. Their Dyno graphs seemed to indicate a 20% increase in both power and torque which could mean a final output of around 30bh and 30ftlb of torque. Doesn't sound like much, but that'd be enough to change gearing on it that would retain the lovely bottom end that it has on trails and turn that 65 all day into 70 all day.

I bought the Himalayan brand new about a year back. I love it. And very recently discovered your site and channel. I have ordered the taller windscreen and free flowing air filter kit. Will be ordering the camshaft soon. !! My himalayan now was 2k miles on it, and its opening up and feeling better with every passing mile. It cruises at 60 mph at 4500 rpm. Hopefully with the camshaft, I would be able to cruise comfortably at 70 mph under 5k rpm.
Noraly's channel Itchy-Boots is the best promotion ever. She is a legend!
At $7500AU it’s a awesome buy and Itchy Boots has Done awesome work promoting the Himalayan I take my hat off to Her for that, I bought one October 2019, No Regrets
Four years later and a local supplier here in Perth is offering the Himmy at $6990AU ride away. I think this is a great buy, especially if this Himmy is phased out due to the new 450! It'll surely become a classic 😀
It would be great if owners could get bikes like these made up like this. Very impressed with Hitchcock work, a big improvement over the standard bike. Enfield should make up Hitchcock versions in a special division at the factory in India then ship to overseas markets.
Why would they do that?
That would take all the fun out of it. I see the stock Himalayan as a blank canvas to creat my personal perfect bike.
Great idea, but i doubt anyone would pay the price..
@@sboy1955 I've seen a lot more expensive limited edition bikes sell out much faster.
@@MrAndrew1953 - Actually yea - I changed my mind, it really wouldn’t cost RE anything to set the production specs at 462cc, raise the front fender and windshield so the only real cost to mod would be the other performance and touring items?
Who's itchy boots??............... Only joking, she's mentioned on every single royal enfield himalayan channel 😂, good on her 👍
getting to to point if you # Royal Enfield Himalayan you might as well # itchy boots. I think they make her an Ambassador but she probably does not want it, at least support her with parts. She is best Advertisement RE has ever had.
As well as she should be. She's done more for the RE than any other person on this earth. I admire her at the highest level.
This bike is really suited to Itchy Boots! All ways it’s manageable for her, economical also basic single cylinder. Cover as much ground, or more than a GS! Value for money and taking in all the scenery whilst travelling.👏👏👏👏🏴👍
You immediately got a thumbs up just for mentioning itchy boots
She rides Another brand now.
Interesting to see the Dyno results for the big bore kit. Not sure I can justify the expense for that increase in power, however if my bank account were a little fatter I would do it! Thanks for your dedication to the Himalayan. The aftermarket is so tiny I am glad to see some serious investment now.
Thanks for the comment
Itchy Boots! The Bassanti Edition!!
And now, the "Dhanno" Edition !
Love this shop. Ordered headlight grill, crashbars, and handlebar covers for my Himalayan. Great service. Might get the big bore kit if I feel myself outgrowing the performance of the bike. Keep up the good work!
Forgot to mention the taller windscreen, my favorite upgrade on the bike!

Today RE released the scram 440 which used to have the same 411's engine before
it had +1hp and +2nm gain
now the same engine has big bore and a 6 speed gearbox.
Only Royal Enfield could offer a carb as an upgrade from EFI
upgrade...what upgrade you mean down grade LOL
@@paulvanderhaegen761 try fixing an EFI by yourself in a remote area.
Long live Itchy boots!!❤️
love this large bore single. Been looking for one for years.
When will it come to the 2023 model?
The frontal side bags also work great at keeping wind off the upper legs. I used to have a KLR with a big 10gallon tank that kept wind off my legs. Now with the front bags on my Himalayan I love it's effect on wind.
TEN GALLONS???????? that would keep the wind off the car behind you as well ;)
Nice upgrades. I wish you were in the states. Since, "Itchyboots" , I've been very impressed with the bike. I like toys and would love to have the upgraded bike exactly as you have presented it.
Thanks for sharing all of the information.

love itchy.boots, good to have these improvements too, cheerio himalayan
This bike needs to be a 500 with a carb. Everyone begging for the overweight, underpowered 650 twin are totally missing the point.
Congratulations on showing RE what can be done. Thank you for sharing
You should think about sponsorship with itchy boots.
The owners of Enfiled should see this video.. It will skyrocket the sales of the Himalayan if these features are added to it n sold.
Good point. She liked it stock and reliable.
Since she videoed the whole way she didn't want to go fast anyway.
RE should see this
Impressive !!! ... Love from India!
What the Himalayan needs is a 650cc twins engine that's on the INT650 and a lighter frame and suspension and it'll be ready to take on most middleweight motorcycles in that class globally.
Now that BS6 version is a bit heavier, the 462 bore is a good option to bump up some more power and torque. Hope someone at RE is watching
Looks like this crew REALLY knows what the hell they are doing! They've turned this 'nice' bike, to a world kicking ADV bike :) Well done sirs,,,well done.
Give one of your bikes to itchy boots girl. She well sell tons for you. Great girl biker.
Something to think about when time for rebuild. Almost an oil head, but needs more electrical power too.
Just ordered the front bags. £57 isn't bad, I think. Good place to keep maps and snacks.
Go to aldi £20 tank saddle bags had them on my bike f650gs 1 year now 😄😄😄😄😄
And whiskey & cigars.
Si señor, esto es una pedazo de preparación. Si tengo dinero, claro donde la llevo desde España. Well Done!
Like the idea of going back to a carb - no poxy sensors required! !
What???
TecBikeParts have made a new Cam Shaft
I love all the comments people just speak their mind. One things for sure get out and ride
Those upgrades make that bike even more appealing dont stop there there is just something about that motorcycle I've never ridden one but it us getting more appealing all the time and you guys are right itchy boots could use them if like the bore kit is proven reliable I didnt see a heated seat or grip upgrade maybe I missed it
I wached on u tube ichy boots she took one of theses bike across India plus it showed how good this bike is and one woman on her own no chase team to help her

I've become the fan of this modification
Itchy Boots advises against the replacement ECU.
I am surprised that you don't offer CereKote exhaust pipes..
U R th king of the road , Mate . God bless you .
Welcome to the world of motorcycles.
@@mohba01 39 years and over 300,000 miles, but thanks.
@@Dave-sw2dm I am sorry if it offended you. what I meant to say was there is always going to be a thriving aftermarket for popular global motorcycles like the himalayan. however, its your prerogative to use those parts or ride the motorcycle stock OE.
Some people just like to customuze stuff.
That's why nobody makes aftermarket parts for Harleys, look at the price of the bike - it's obviously perfect! : )
Some very nice upgrades on the bike, but they should also offer a better seat and more robust stem bearings, which on my bike were the worst parts.
Hi, we have had some improved steering bearings for the past 12+months and are working on a improved seat, the steering bearings can be seen on the link below: accessories.hitchcocksmotorcycles.com/accessory-shop/Tapper-Roller-Bearings/41416
The stock FI is used in BMW and Triumph bikes so it's a good system to start with.
Please do one video for classic model also.
Hopefully we will be adding more to our UA-cam channel in general for the whole range of Enfields
Please try doing one upgrade for classic 350.
It is nice to see and very inspiring as well. R.E should and must continue this bike and also reduce the price.
It was mentioned that the alternative exhaust saves a noticeable amount of weight. Can you quantify that? How much weight?
Well putting slip on's on the sporty shaved off about 1 ton so it must save some on this?
looking at the dyno chart suggests that an oversize cylinder don't add a mass of power
Looks like about 30% @4k. I think that's a decent bump up.
Itchy Boots approved I like it.

Carbs are better, Fuel Injection is only benificial on high powered racing bikes. FI was inflicted on us [UK] by EEC regulations. It is not always 'better'.
@heydavemyers1 you can fix a problem with the carburator in a desert.
If the efi goes bad you're stuck.

Hitchcocks moto,I have doubt . While placing big piston will add weight and increase inertia of reciprocating masses also affect counter balancer setup and increase vibration. how do you tackle this problem ?
Please give me more information about the engine

Can you add / modify kickstart lever and mechanism?
Not as far as I am aware, there will not be an easy bolt on kit. All though anything would be possible with enough resources
I so wish they had put a kicker on this then it would have sold double. My old ybr had both push start and a kick start, when the electric start failed one morning I just kicked it & rode to work. Should have kept that bike.
A lot of useful kit. Nice to be able to increase ride height, though surprised no suspension upgrade is offered.
Hi, we do now offer an upgraded shock: accessories.hitchcocksmotorcycles.com/accessory-shop/rear-suspension/42910
Have you got one coming for RE's premier ADV bike, the Classic 350?
Could you do a comparison with standard bike, your upgrade kit, powertronic and your upgrade plus powertronic fitted so we can see what the difference on the dyno graph.
It would be better to port the cylinder head along with installing the big bore kit to reset peak power rpm to the stock value. Otherwise, you lose rpm range (or you gain absolutely no power at top rpm).
Now you get the full 18hp.
While xt 500 has 27 ? 😅
Itchyboots and himalayan ❤️

I've visited your website and cant locate the 462cc big bore kit. Perhaps I'm blind or tech savy dumb. Do you still offer the big bore, the upgraded clutch and de-catted exhaust pipe? Thank you for your help, Kind regards.
Cool stuff but what is the total cost of these upgrades including the bike itself? Does it put it in the next class of bike that already comes with these upgrades at the same price or below? I'm thinking about a Himmy as my first bike but I don't want to have to spend a lot more on upgrades and such to just make the thing run right.
I'd love to have this exact bike!!! It looks and sounds awsome! :-)
How is two up riding on these motorcycles? is it doable ?
Looks and sounds outstanding. What is the highest comfortable speed with the big bore kit?
Was there something done about the comfort of the seat?
What is the increase in HP and what top speeds were achieved with different rear sprockets?
chris fletcher the chart shows the increase in BHP and its at lower RPM too. I guess it’s time for you to call Hitchcocks to ask them for a test ride if you want to know more.
The HP Gain was about 4. Which is about a 20% increase.
More importantly was the torque increase had a large bump which will help you accelerate faster.
Torque = quickness
HP = top speed
@@joshwahhill8385 Thanks, 4BHP increase is not bad, does make me wonder if there was much increase in top speed. I agree the extra torque would help acceleration considering the rear sprockets would now require a bit more shift
do you have a workshop were you fit all these upgrades and at what cost ?
Can you make lighter version of RE Himalayan?
Looks like a 3-4 HP gain, again, the calibration is off and we cant see the different ignition/fueling maps so you would not be able to tell. I think RE refrained from increasing power to keep the mileage around 33-35 kmpl for the Indians, where fuel can be expensive. 30 HP for its current weight means you can sustain highway speeds all day without breaking sweat, but you would probably get a mileage of around 30 kmpl.
Great video and fantastic parts 👍🏻
Can you help ? I really like the Himalayan but find the stock seat pushing me forward and my knees go over the groove of the tank, this makes the ride relay uncomfortable.
Would you have a solution for this ?
Also top comfort for my passenger mane also with a sissy bar, back-part for more comfort in her back ?
Itchy boots already installed that power tronic

Grea t job on the upgrades! To bad you could not film this on a sunny day, black day on black motor makesm it hard to see. I do understand tha t you only get a few of those days a year!
Nice, but will it cruise long distances smoothly at 70 mph?
Why? If that is what you want to do, buy a Goldwing. You will be more comfortable. ;-)
@@Dave-sw2dm Sometimes you gotta keep up with highway traffic to get to the good places. And "good" places ain't Gold Wing territory.
Herb Wag , fortunately, where I live I don’t need to be around traffic to enjoy my Himalayan. BTW, it can maintain 70 mph for a couple exits if needed and sustained 65 is no problem, but 55 and below is where it shines.
@@Dave-sw2dm Gotcha. That's why I wonder if the big bore kit ups the top smooth cruising speed. Probably not to 70 though. Maybe 60-65?
@@herbwag6456 Honestly, I've sat quite happily at 65mph all day above 6,000ft with it. Yes, it's happiest at 55, but it'll give you no trouble cruising 65 all day either. 70 does feel like you're pushing it. Their Dyno graphs seemed to indicate a 20% increase in both power and torque which could mean a final output of around 30bh and 30ftlb of torque. Doesn't sound like much, but that'd be enough to change gearing on it that would retain the lovely bottom end that it has on trails and turn that 65 all day into 70 all day.
What will be the cost of the bike after all the upgrades.
Would be nice that the whole Exhaustpipe would be ceramic Black,., some others showed this on YT , great upgrade also.
