Like what you've done, makes it the bike it should have been, yet by design it can only go so fast. I'm happy with mine, when the warranty is out, until then I'll keep it stock, as likely for age my last bike, so as long as I can ride.. happy with that ;

Very nice Mod Demo. You covered all the essential changes. One change no one has covered is to get the air intake higher to keep water out of the engine. You might give that a shot. Great stuff.

Hi ,,I too have got the tecbike cam ,,I just arranged to have it fitted whenI have the recall done.... Regarding suspension ,,I found the stock front not soft ,,but very jarring and not at all comfortable,,,so I went for the YSS kit,,, it came with a small bottle of 20 grade fliud,,so I bought 20 grade ,,I now have learned 20 is roadracing fliud,,,but the action is now firm and I,v got use to it,,,I,v never adjusted the preload... Iam quite happy with the back shock,thou it looks as scruffy as your old shock... I agree about that ABS,,off road it can be quite dangerous,,it nearly killed me...I have yet to fit a switch,,, I too have got the Loobman ,,I fitted the reservoir on the inside of the front bars ,I welded a exhaust clamp bracket and fitted the res inside it.. I like your handel bars,,did you need to get new cables? seat Yeah I know it a long way up when going up to stand up,, but Im happy with it... oh yeah your pannier frame ,,, do,nt take this the wrong way ,,but I think it looks crap... I have Lomo soft bags and just need the bags kept away from the wheel ,at the moment I just use bungees ,but I want to make some steel hoops and fix (somehow to the frame),,exhaust I am ok with the stock ,,but want it angled down abit ,,so not to burn my Lomos..Seen it done looks OKish... I have got a 16T front sprocke ,,but cannot get the old one off ,,,its a *ugger... lastly ,,my bike never stalls and it runs ok ,,I have the same airfilter ,,but does it need a bouster plug with the new cam ,,or can I just run without,,, lastly I bunged up the airbox to exhaust pipe thing ,it made a small difference (I think) I could go on but maybe next time ,,I subbed ,,,,regards
Hi, the 16T sprocket is too high for a general all round use. Certainly ok for road use, but in my case on the trails I ride, it would be no good, if anything, a 14T would be better, but too low for fast road use, so a 15T is about right. It all depends on the rider's choice in where you plan your adventures. 20 Grade oil! That would be way too heavy for the rocky trails definitely where I ride, over damped for sure. After a recent ride over a Roman road I'm thinking of going to 10w oil. 20w Probably ok for a road bike. The pannier frames...well it's a case of functionality over looks, I'd rather have some protection over scuffed frames from general wear and tear than them being scratched and them looking crap lol. Cables all stock although I had to reroute the cables for some slack, ideally a longer clutch cable would be better - a future upgrade. The air injection deletion kit just eliminates space and a small weight saving. Another mod I didn't mention was the airbox breather mod, that is to reroute the engine crankcase breather pipe to the top airbox connection to reduce the risk of filling the crankcase with water during a deep water crossing. Hopefully I won't have to worry about such issues but when you're out exploring..who knows what you'll come across. Ride safe 👍

Congratulations you have made the Himalayan what Royal Enfield should have done! What is ground clearance up to now? Is that the increased height rear shock?
40mm increase , with extended fork caps and a stiffer rear spring which reduces the static sag.

Glad you enjoyed the video. According to TEC bike parts, The BS4 Himalayan has a Self learning ECU. I simply fitted the cam and the DNA filter and snorkel, started the engine and let it tick over for about 5mins and that was it. It runs well on the stock ECU good fuel economy and performance.

You guys make all these changes to the fuel injected versions which I thought was kind of sealed......mine is the older carburettor one...what changes can I make to get improved low end...I stay at 600feet above mal....and the temperature range is 10degree celcius to 40 degrees Celsius and a lot of hills around....please suggest

-For thermistance:
Why do you choose 10k thermistance? 5k isn't enough?
To plug it you simply unplug the OEM one and plug in place the new one?
-For fok rising: due to 40mm rising does the fork tubes don't "flex" when braking or jumping hard?

Hi, I haven't tried a 5k so can't comment on that. The additional Thermistor is wired in series with the existing airbox temperature sensor,not the ambient temperature sensor found under the seat. The thermistor and airbox temperature sensor work together,the 10k value reduces the airbox temperature sensor value to the ECU thinking it is colder air I've had no problems with the forks bending nor flexing. Hope this helps.

I thought you just replaced the OEM with the 10k.
I measure the OEM, it's 2,5K at 25°c. Adding in serie a 10k make it corresponding to 12,5k so a virtual -5°c .
Maybe too much? But in your case with came and air filter probably good or slightly too rich?

Hi, there is chap on the UK Facebook Himalayan Group by the name of Ben who makes them. I have to tell you though but I'm running back to stock as the one in this video snapped when I dropped the bike. The stock one is much stronger. Something to consider

Ive fitted hitchocks camshaft, booster plug, an open DNA cover, and filter. The bike is now adequate and enjoyable on the tarmac but I have a concern about the open cover. It seems so easy for dust, sand, water to get in, have you had any problems? How often do you have to clean the filter?
Hello, I do share the same concern. I've sealed the gap above the rear wheel between the under tray and frame to prevent water and dust being transmitted up in-between into the air intake void behind the panel. I haven't drilled holes in the panel either as it acts as a guard against direct water spray. In really dusty environments I will put the paper filter back in. I haven't had to clean the filter yet.
Have you had any issues with fuelling? Is the bike running lean? I have modified the intake and exhaust on other bikes and I was told and I did install a modified EFI unit. Are you happy with the booster plug mod? Where did you get your shift lever?
Hello there, No issues at all with the fuelling. I have since removed the booster plug as I am running a stock air paper filter, with the DNA air intake ring. Paper filter has reduced air flow but much better filtering in the dust. The booster plug did richen the fuel mixture and suited the DNA/K&N filter, but it is running well stock. I also run a modified snorkel with a foam pre-filter fitted. So the stock fuelling is about right. The ECU on the BS4 I understand is self learning. I have had no issues at all with the Cam on the stock ECU. The gear shift lever I bought from a supplier on the UK owners group page, but honestly speaking, the stock gear lever is stronger.

Hi, the shock is a Hagon Shock, along with the fork cap risers these were purchased by a UK company called Cooperb Motorcycles who have an eBay shop. The kit is known as the Overlanda lift kit. Also recommended are the Fork Emulator Valves supplied by TEC bike parts in the UK.
Thank you. Just ordered myself a thermistor. My Himalayan stalls a lot and is a pain on cold start. Where abouts did you cut the cables to wire it in in series? Interesting vid , cheers . Hi Simon, the cutting out could be a vacuum leak on the EVAP circuit, worth checking all the hoses and connections. As for your question, I bought plug and socket Sumitomo 2pin plug and made up interconnecting lead. The interconnecting lead on is wired as follows, pin 1 female socket connected through to pin 1 male socket with short piece of cable. The thermistor is wired as follows, connect each leg of the thermistor lead to pin2 of the male and the other to pin 2 of the female. Then unplug the air box sensor and simply install your new lead between the airbox sensor and its plug. Mount the thermistor under your seat, keeping away from any risk of damage. If the engine management light comes on then there is potentially a bad connection on your lead. Hope that makes sense

Where do you buy the preload spacers for the front shocks?
Is it possible to install the front indicators of Highness on Scram 411 and conty 650? And I mean proper installation so the amber light turns on with ignition as in stock CB350.

Hi, have you thought about fitting different sprockets to change the gearing? Thinking would work with the extra power from the cam and might make it feel a bit less frantic on the odd occasion I do dual carriageway… 🤔 Great videos btw 👍
Hi! Good question, I did, I bought a 16tooth front sprocket which is 1 tooth bigger than stock, and I decided not to fit it. There are some steep incline that we ride on the trails and if anything I've considered going 1 tooth less down to a 14T. In the end I've a stuck with the stock 15T as its good alound, 60mph at 5k rpm and in first gear I can ride at walking pace. I think the 16T could Labour the engine if you have some big hills to climb. On the flat or motorway then the 16T would be good, but not for off road.

@@Leafster1973 I have a 16-tooth front sprocket on my 2019 BS4. Dropped the revs to 4500 at 100kmh. Also fitted a K&N air filter, Lextek muffler and PowerCommander ecu, which has enabled it to handle the extra tooth easily. Removed the top front guard and used the spacers to lift the lower guard 22mm. Been on the waiting list for a TEC camshaft since July. Your video indicates it should be worth the wait. Sold a Moto Guzzi Norge 1200 for the Himalayan, and can’t stop smiling. Cheers.

you obviously go for function over aesthetics - i like that. do you change your own tyres - is that a heidenau rear i just saw - someone said they are a pain to remove / refit for puncture repair. the tec cam is unavailable, i was looking at the hitchcocks version, do you have any feedback from other riders on it?
Hi Steve, absolutely the Himmy has to perform out in the Hills. Since making this video there have been some changes for the better looks. The Heindau is hard to fit. I use now continent TKC80 which are easier. Regarding the cam there is an Indian company who also manufacturers a cam similar profile to the TEC cam I believe. I don't really have any feedback to be honest.

Hi John, I fitted a slightly longer clutch cable, about 7 inches longer I think, that I purchased from Hitchcock's motorcycles in the UK.

I was thinking honestly about buying Himalayan, but it lacks a bit of power IMO. Possibly 20%? ;) who knows. Very reasonable mods and even more reasonable bike after that.
I thought the same thing coming from a 750lb 96HP bike, but the Himmie is pretty dang good stock. As long as you're not in a hurry it'll go anywhere!
@@RollinTwentySix Thing is sometimes I want to reach Scotland fast, or Spain on wheels and so on... 800 miles with 60mph speed is a bit off to be honest. Doable but 70-75mph sounds a bit better for that. I would love that bike if that would have 500cc and 35+ HP. I don't want anything more
@@UncleLongbeard Ridden bikes for 40 years, have 3 x ZZR1100, Versys 650 GT & CB500S. Bought Himalayan 10 days ago, don't want to get off the machine, such a peach of a bike. Handles so light and planted, quicker than I expected and oozes charm. Should have bought one years ago.

Do you know the weight difference in the stock shock vs. the Hagan? Not capacity, actually grams of the shock itself. I know the YSS shock shaves off about 3lbs from stock.

Hiya, are you running the standard front sprocket? or can you go up a tooth with the camshaft mod. Recently did a 4k trip through South Island NZ and I found that constant revs above 5100 was causing a bit of oil burn and not that pleasant would be nice to drop that top road RPM a little but concerned how 1st would be on the dirt? Hi Simon, I'm running the stock gearing as we do a lot of low speed riding off road in the dirt up some steep climbs. You probably could go up a tooth at the front to a 16 and still do the dirt, I was worried about labouring the engine mostly so stock works for me.

I would say it's Improved
I've seen a few with over100,000 miles on it. They are indestructible yet simple so you can work on them.

What type is the rear shock? Under what name is it found online?
The shock is made .by Hagon, UK and the shock and lift kit are supplied by CooperB motorcycles , England, UK.
Did you do a mod to the fuel cap?
No, not sure what/why this is needed?
@@Leafster1973 - Your fuel cap looks like it has a bell mouth added to it. It's not level with the top of the tank. Maybe a bird bath?

How long did it take to fit the new cam shaft?
A few hours, taking my time, although now I've done it, I recon I do it under a couple of hours, but why rush? Last thing you want is to drop something down into the crankcase!
