The only ones upset are the ones caught and suspended, but getting closer ish possibly to something of a release they need to have things like this
I think this is the future for CIG with exploits going forward.
Im upset with this, and i have not used the duping glitch a single time.
I still have all my auec but they did take a HH and a Hull C but left the 2 reclaimers.
@@Teejay82_It potentially sets a bad precedent. I'm generally not in favor of exploits, but I don't think it's necessarily justifiable to deny people access to something they paid for. To do so would, in my mind, require a particularly egregious act.

CIG has said they removed the gains from exploits as well as did the suspensions, not sure how strict this was but it makes sense with the direction they want to go.
While 600 sounds like a lot, I'm assuming they just went after people who did the exploit at scale and were possibly selling credits. People that duped to get themselves a few tens of millions of credits (i.e. a few C2s) probably slipped under the radar. CIG has logs for everything so it would be possible to cross reference massive duping and sending tons of credits.

For sure, but a couple of tenth of million was what it took to litter landing areas and cripple the servers, filling up the stocks constantly for every other players and also completely circumvent the wipe that was necessary because of previous exploits and only affected honest players that way. If you made tenth of millions, you were not "Testing", but exploiting the game, and if you got away with that, they have been too lenient.
It will only make the next wipe closer, which will affect everyone that was grinding honestly in game.
@@Leptospirosi I did it once by accident, then recorded it three times to post on IC, then never did it again, and that's literally all you're supposed to do. Record you doing it 3 times, and report it. You do it three times to prove that it is a repeatable bug and not a fluke. (Only adding this in for anyone going to say "well why do it 3 times and not just the once?")
Not to mention the dupers destroyed the servers by leaving abandoned C-2's all over the main city hubs that were never removed.
A lot of times the knock on effects keep spiraling - luckily with 3.23.1a no more dupes.
I think the fault of that lies in cig...see they couldn't figure out how to get specific things to persist and others disappear sooo they just made everything stay with no real clean up mechanic
@@frogger2011ifySimple fix would be to impound any illegally parked ships in armistice zones. But the issue lies with the player that were more then likely auec farmers that came on to SC servers to use the exploit to farm auec to sell online.

My concern is _how_ they chose which accounts to suspend and what the lasting impact is. The line between "exploit" and "gameplay" can be thin at times... Additionally, unlike most games, people have put a _lot_ of money into _Star_ _Citizen_ . 'Policing' your game with *bans* begins to border on theft, as you're confiscating something you previously sold them (EULAs be dmned).
I can get behind actions against legitimately destructive behavior like, "These individuals _intended_ to cause a DoS," but, if it's simply a by-product of another element of poor design, response actions must be proportional.
I wish CIG would be more transparent with their actions and intent.
The game is an alpha test build. Not even a full game. I can't agree with banning accounts at this stage.

Banning requires a pretty egregious offense. I'm not sure "item duplication" meets that threshold.

It's not that they care about that. Infact using an exploit to break the game is what you really want your testers to do....ya know break the game and exploit shit so they know how to fix it before launch....sooo I'm pretty sure it's about banning people who were selling auec on eBay and the like

I welcome this. Because some are struggling to make UEC in game and others exploit and get millions easy
Exactly - there is a huge delta between backers with millions of aUEC and those trying to get their efforts off the ground after each wipe. The game needs to be fair and this helps balance the field a bit more.
fyi hanger persistent/ inventory rework is the greatest incentive for a wipe I have seen. (including it has been over a year since full wipe.)
We might see a wipe for 3.23.2 but I believe CIG will wait until 4.0 for a clean wipe without most LTP
protections.
@@RedJay the reason they would be motivated to wipe is suddenly every starter ship only person would have to decide if they wanted a tiny persistent hanger, or spend the dosh and have a decent sized crash pad.
Word is they got hit with a month out of the game.

Better game design would reduce the desire to exploit. Get it together, CiG, or your "game" will not be taken seriously.
i agree. alot of bugs in the game including duping are YEARS old and appear to be largely neglected. I feel the issue throws shade on CIG for failiing to address their broken code.
Another player made a good point:
I we lose all our cargo due to a glitch, 'it sucks to suck.'

server down on new update
CIG posted up they are working on it. Seems to be impacting login process as I was still in game getting B-Roll for 20 minutes in The Commons while it was going on, heard about it after logging out. Speculation but DDOS on login system might be possible. Happens in other games after suspension waves.

Why? Why do you commend them? The exploit was reported even before 2.23 went live. They let it run for over one month until they released a fix. They shift the blame for their own mistakes on some of their customers and call them exploiters. Then they have the nerve to punish their own customers. How is any of this commendable?

A duper giftet me 1 million auec but I lost it all due to bugs while cargo trading. Suspending accounts in such a early alpha really shouldn't be a thing. No one gives me the money back I lost due to glitches.....
Sorry to hear you lost your load - .1a should be more stable for it and .2 patch even moreso but ots critical at the moment to do only part of your aUEC risked in each cargo run
Its one thing to discover an exploit and report it. It is another to take advantage of it and continue to abuse it... ESPECIALLY in Alpha - its not like wipes won't happen and people who continue to abuse a flaw are not around to help develop the game. Thanks for helping in the development with the game, but these exploiters deserved the ban. Now. If the ban continues into release, that is another matter.
Are you really complaining about losing duped gifted money you lost to glitches? What? You shouldn't have had that 1 million to begin with.
Plus, those Dupers were littering landing areas with dozens of ships during Invictus for free flight players, which is already difficult for server traffic, ruining the experience for everyone. I tested the bug with a hullA and a couple of boxes, made, may be extra 200k aUEC in total and tested several locations other then Hurst on where it was not working.
You lost an entire Million in a single crash because you were trying to make easy money.
Duping has been ruining the game experience for everyone who suffered the previous wipe, bringing the next one closer.
@Leptospirosi thats just invictus as a whole.... 60% of the playerbase only logs in for the events to clame the rewards then dont touch the game till either a good update for a few day or the next event. Ships have always been an issue at the cities... with or without the dupe
Hell when the SRV came out i was towing abandoned vehicles out of Babbage and getting the crime stat just to try and help fps
I didn't play this patch. But what is EXPLOIT? CIG did not do their job right and leaving some bugs in the system, people just play as per the system allow to get some benifit. and what is wrong about that? CIG please do you job before you release your built please!
There were a few, the most damaging to the economy was a double sell cargo exploit. These have been fixed in 3.23.1a

I agree man, I'm an old eve player...if you can do it in game with no outside programs to make it possible then you should be able to get away with what ever.

The first iteration of instanced hangars is in .2 which will be the next patch. Testing is hopefully starting ASAP on .2 while .1a just went live.

They are punishing players for a bug they could have fixed month ago. I dont think they actually banned anyone. They are just bluffing.

I’ve seen posts from sappy little streamers complaining about getting banned for three months lol, definitely too late but it’s so good to see

Adding to these examples, spoke with two backers who have been suspended due to this tonight who I've known at least on various Discords off and on - its very real but seems to be the more active of getting aUEC off the accounts folks - not accusing them of selling UEC but no matter selling the UEC or simply trading it away to many folks seems to get attention. I would need a larger sample size to start saying that the signifigant factor is trading aUEC though.
Had to take my .2 hype down a little so i can continue to enjoy my time, i get it seems harsh to ban accounts but these exploits where game breaking and players where selling aUEC on ebay and other sites
I think in particular those using exploits to then resell the aUEC on such sites were the biggest headache here, and surely that was not 100% of those suspended but those in the group who did resell were demoralizing players who just wanted honest economy (because up until now CIG has had to resort to mass wipes of everyone to clear out the enconomy of duped gains). I am not weighing in non-exploiters selling on gray market.

Yes because players are there to test the economy so CIG can track player transactions. And not to mention the influx of doubling the auec on a transaction does not give them accurate data.
Yes, if you destroy the economy after a wipe, while littering every landing area with dumped ships, tanking the servers during Invictus. Dupers have been ruining the game for months and punished wit cause.
cig were too lenient, hitting only the most blatant cases: I would have banned anyone who made the duping run more then twice.
People play this “alpha” LIVE SERVICE every day and the little shits who get insta rich become the most boring, uninvested plebs who give money out to beggars and help to destroy the economy before the patch has even gotten off the ground

I duped and still got everything, but in my small ship there isn't much space to get billions.. I didn't even buy another ship. Not that I could with the tiny bit that I got. I guess its mainly the ones that sold the aUEC or made a shit tone more than I did got banned.

Uhh! Exploiting in our alpha tech demo-level "game" where everything is still tier zero and all achievements are wiped anyway every couple of months!! We must ban those fun-destroying players in our gameplay breaking bugs-ridden mess! You shall not exploit our tech demo, buy our ship JPGs for real money instead because in approx. 50 years you too will be able to have them flight-ready!

It’s disgraceful that they temp suspended those accounts. Sure, the dupers made things tough for everyone but there have been similar bugs and exploits *for years* (e.g. Mule bug), and they never once told people not to, nor had they taken the simple expedient of warning the community clearly not to use these exploits. (Note: I have never used a dupe or any other exploit in the game.)

There is a warning for it in their TOS. If you use an exploit to gain an advantage over other players you can and will get banned, it is in the TOS that you click agree to EVERYTIME you launch SC. Most of the suspended accs were people selling AUEC on Ebay though tbf.
its an alpha if there are people finding exploits, fine , patch them out but supspending accounts because of that is hillarious. CIG should be gratefull for all testers and all players. ..BUT..CIG is absolutely not responseable for morons who are buying aUEC on EBAY. However CIG should absolutely held those aUEC sellers accountable and those should been punished regardless how much they have pledged. If you participate in selling aUEC on EBAY you violate the EULA .

Not this glitch was being duped in Live server environment, not in PTU/EPTU etc. Agreed buyers of aUEC on gray market etc are not making a good move, and honestly there are far better ways to spend even 10 USD in this game for long term profits.

So this is where reading comes in. It's against the rules that they put out. Just because you're a tester doesn't mean you get to do whatever you want, how you want... There are still guidelines to follow and methods to pass on bug reports. Continuously duping literally makes the Devs life harder.... They have things they need to track and having to sift through your BS just makes it a pain. Read the ToS... Learn it. If you don't like it, literally nobody is holding you down. I could barely sell my cargo because of that crap. I'm glad they took this route and I hope the hammer gets harder over time.
@@RedJay Live server we use aUEC as in ALPHA CURRENCY, wipable.... as they do often, its not a LIVE server.. its an EARLY PRE ALPHA BUG

The 600 exploiters suspended is a lie to save face I have several buddies that duped relentlessly guess what they didn't get suspended. So few people actually play this dog shit game banning 600 active players would be 80% of the current player base.

You should file a petition with CIG on that explain the situation, they may be able to confirm if your account was active or not in the patch cycle and review this.
