voice acting has been fine imo, i think its just the cutscene quality that makes the performances sound worse than they actually are
It’s not only that, it’s the terrible dialogue script too. If you hear some of the conversations in Valhalla… you’d think an ai wrote them the way it’s delivered. It’s like they hired random people off the street to do these lines and they just perform it like they’re told to. guess this what happens when you don’t do motion capture.

@@jormdewormit's good, but male eivor's acting is better,(specifically male eivor, female eivor is the worst) and so is Haytham's acting in AC 3.

@@jormdeworm male eivor, Jacob frye, and Aveline are all underrated in my opinion! It's obvious that Jacob and male eivor struggle with popularity because slander campaigns were set up against them. Kim beliar admitted this much in a sisterhood interview where she let slip that she aimed to manipulate how the community sees Jacob, in order to validate evie, because her colleagues didn't see evie as the protagonist (which she isn't) due to the fact much of the games development had finished before evie was part of the game. It was conceptualised as Jacob's game, and mostly finished that way as well. So you can imagine how unpopular it was when evie let to the team having to re-write much of the narrative and do so much more development time as well! Jacob's actor has also stated that originally Jacob was going to confront the original evil version of evie, in a graveyard fight scene at the end of the game.
Anyway, it's my opinion that similar likely happened with valhalla.

Meh. Kassandra sounds flat most the time. And if she is better for being more subtle than Alexios, then male evior is better for being lore subtle than female eivor? Well, male eivor is obviously better than female eivor. At least I can see Kassandra is a marketable character unlike female eivor. Male eivor should be canon, just as kassandra is canon.
Regardless I still think Aveline is the only great female protagonist. Evie is rock bottom dull and badly acted. Jacob was far better. But aveline, her game actually had people working on it, who cared to make a good game and a good character.

You can‘t compare characters like cesare borgia who is a madlad at his breaking point to let‘s say arno not getting into a party cause he doesn‘t have an invitation.

@@81142 valid, writing peaked with Ezio and Kenway trilogy tbh. Valhalla had great writing, but it was poorly executed. If only half of the story arcs were not mandatory it probably would’ve been perceived so much better
@@jormdewormIt's largely due to story length. Valhalla's plot length should be at max equal to that of origins.
@@thelastpersononearth9765 yes, if they made many redundant side arcs non-mandatory it would’ve felt a lot better for sure. Things like the Harvest Feast story arc and Gunnar’s story arc were not all that important to the overall plot and if they were made side-arcs the overall plot would’ve absolutely flown so much better.
I hope Shadows will take Origins’s story length with lots of side content rather than forcing all the side content in the main content. It seems the map has already reduced to Origins scale so maybe we’re in luck.

From the examples shown, I honestly think that the VA work is great all around with the exception of Valhalla. It think it’s the facial animations and cutscene quality that degraded slowly after Origins, and jumped back to Ps2 era for Mirage
That Basim scene was really good. His Va did a great job.
With the voice acting, you could get whiplash from just going from Odyssey to Valhalla with Mirage is a very slight upgrade.
You shoulve use Charles Lee swearing to kill connor scene. That scene gives me chills. extremely well acted!

Shay's VA was good and I loved his irish accent but as I kept getting used to shay's voice acting, I found it very generic. Again, its just my honest opinion and I respect yours.

Odyssey was the last good AC game for voice acting, in my opinion. Kassandra is easily as impressionable to me as Ezio was back in 2009.
The thing all of Ac games did great was the voice acting , all were amazing. My favourite was Bayek and Origins is also my favourite in the series

Voice acting was really good up until Odyssey tbh, but the way the cutscenes look from Valhallah on, some secenes in odyssey too it looks like its robots with hyper realistic masks are playing the characters instead of actual people, the emotion isnt really transferred from speech to actual looks
7:24 should've been the scene with arno and elise in cafe de theatre or when they visit the brotherhood right after that. That sequence was so good

Everything about male eivor is better. Just as Everything about Jacob is better than the 2D evie who sounds like her actress is bored and uninterested. Kassandra was the exception to the rule, at least so far.

@@heydog-qo9dealexios isn't great, but he's no where near as bad as evie or female eivor's acting. Evie is bored 2D and dull, and female eivor is bad for all the reasons alexios is, only it's far worse with her.
@@chrismoore5333 I feel like kassandra and alexios both had insane amounts of potential and could have actually made an impact of you made certain choices because (spoiler)
At the end of the game the player has the choice of killing deimos and let's say you spared deimos I thought it would be interesting if you could play as deimos in legacy of the first blade dlc allowing for new combat and a character arc for deimos having to face the sins of his past through fighting the order of the ancients who worked with the cult of kosmos possibly having some cult members flee to the order of ancients and deimos having to prove he has changed rather than kassandra or alexios just having another romantic option in his life (seriously imagine if deimos got his hands on the people that ruined his life I feel like it could work)
@@heydog-qo9de I had the same idea, where deimos would become the main playable protagonist of legacy of the first blade. But the people who pushed for kassandra as canon, ALWAYS exclude men if they can get away with it. Just look to the ripper dlc, a dlc about Jacob in a game about Jacob, and somehow we miss the entire autumn of terror, and play as evie. In valhalla the inferior and awful version of eivor is canon, while male eivor is excluded from the final chapter, only being present as a vision. It's just the sexist people who push these things, hating on any and all men.
Mirage voice acting was good, shame the writing is trash though “ Blamey little finger ” Ubisoft writers have the vocabulary of 5 year olds now and it’s sad

Honestly, not gonna be popular with my fellow old school fans but, Assassin's creed valhalla protagonist male eivor has the best acting of any main protagonist, and I mean that. It's just unfortunate that the supposedly "canon" female eivor has the absolute worst acting out of any character in the franchise!
And not to be harsh, but AC 2 actually has some pretty poor acting at times. Not on the level of syndicate's acting even. Well, most people are well acted in syndicate, and Jacob is as well. But evie is badly acted, and I mean really badly! She always sounds bored, or only half paying attention. She is a bad character.
Also Haytham, Arno, Elise, and Edward are pretty well acted.
The absolute best acting has to be between haytham and male eivor.

Old school fan here, i agree magnus bruun (male evior) did a fantastic job at voice acting. wouldn’t say the best in the whole series but it’s definitely up there. I just wish he had more mo-capped scenes to show off his real acting skills because the regular robotic cutscenes didn’t do him justice, I could say the same thing with Sigurd as well his character deserved more credit.
