Feng Shui the 5 animals and their meanings for the command position

- In feng shui, there is Chi, which is energy that flows around you, and to understand this, there is the concept of the 5 animals. The animals each represent an aspect or direction which you would naturally tend towards.
These animals are the Tortoise, Bird, Dragon, Tiger and Snake.
I will explain what they mean to you, and how by combining them, you will be able to find a comfortable 'command position' in any room. - Навчання та стиль
This is uncanny! As I'm watching this, I'm petting my white cat who happens to be to my right and west of me, with a wooden bookshelf to the left, and my desk facing south in the command position and a wall to the north behind me, of course. As I understand it my Chinese zodiac sign is a wood snake. That feels like everything lines up and I never even studied feng shui! I've heard of it, but never looked too much into it. Fascinating!
How do you know the kind of snake you are for Chinese zodiac? Curious
@@thomasgordon2855I don't remember how I first found out, but I was able to corroborate with a chart on Wikipedia for Chinese Zodiac, so you could look it up there.

I feel the same way lol! My white dresser is to my right facing west, My window is facing east for the sunlight ,
I have my bookshelf next to my headboard so I feel protected from my doorway , & I have all my art posters on my south wall above my desk. Im a content snake 💀💀💀
-So, this is the dragon *proceeds to share the shot with a plant*
I'M DYING 😂 Thank you so much for the explanation, it was really interesting!
"The word Dracaena (pronounced Dra-see-na) comes from the Ancient Greek word, Drakaina, meaning “female dragon.”"
Gread to know this, since i have several of these plants I already planned to put in the east! I also planned my space that perfectly correlates to these principles! Maybe why I was drawn to it in the first place?
The dragon "Sorry I don't have a dragon ok plant is more or less dragon " hahaha loved it.
Man your Videos are so great, never saw this type off stuff so easily and sympathetic explained!
In Vastu Vidya, we face east, where Indra and Surya are, hence wideness, expansion, light and conscience. It is wherever we are looking at (so not necessarily real east).
The chair position you are describing is called The Throne, which we offer to the Commander (the King -- in Sanskrit, Ishvara), the heart (心) of the heart, the innermost part of each one of us.
Hope I can give you any insight, since you're so generous in sharing your own! 🙏😊
The idea of three mountains is quite insightful.
Let me digress a bit further.
The turtle is kurma. There is a cosmic turtle that holds mount Meru in the Ocean Churning event (when the devas and asuras join forces to retrieve amrtam, the immortality nectar). The whole idea is very alchemical.
But there is also makaram, the mythical creature (a dragon depicted as a crocodile, but also representing the Capricorn ♑ sign). It is Varuna's mount, presiding omnipresent deep darkness, the god of oceans. If Indra is ahead (east), Varuna is at our back (west). It is the strongest, "reptilian", protector. He is the protector of truth and has a lace to snare any lie. That is so because, in hindu thought, darkness is the ultimate source of life, the unending source of truth (satyam). The unconscious, from which comes being (sat).
Thank you for your videos! So obliged!
My father passed away recently, and I'm quite young and have very much to learn, as I inherited most of our family issues.
Only now do I realise that his big director desk was in a perfect command position, and since I can't learn from him (and I don't think he realised how great he was at leadership, and, most shamefully, I didn't realise it either) - I'm learning it from you
God never strands you, they say. Thanks again 🌿
You will find your way and make your father proud
🖖
It was quite hard to concentrate after the appearance of the green dragon! I missed a chunk because I was giggling and had to rewind! I really like the thought of these animals protecting us, especially the thought of the tortoise with it’s tough shell. Really interesting!
You have a great sense of humour, make things a lot easier 😊
I could watch you talk about this for a long time. Thanks!
Thank you for helping me understand!! I love the way you explain things because it is easy to understand
5:23 "So I hope this is CLEAR about the five animals-"
Me, who was just snapped out of my own world admiring this beautiful man as he spoke very passionately: hm what yes very clear
I think from all your video's I love this one the most. Its very wholesome, simple and gives you something to think about
Glad these videos are back 👍
Me too! :)
@@DearModern also, I loved all the improvised props you used 😂
I had never heard of this before. This makes sense! My white tiger and green dragon have been all mixed up. And my pheonix hasn't been able to fly. No wonder my dreams don't take off! Now I known!
I loooove your videos!! ☀️☀️ Enjoyable and informative. Great personality ☺️
You are so nice and genuine, I love your video, good job!

I love the tortoise figurine, so pretty
Your are a great teacher thank you 😊
i’ve just discovered you and your channel and i’m hooked! it’s all so interesting and i’ve always believed in feng shui and how the energy feels flowing through your space. i just wondered with the animals is it just the feeling, or should you be placing a representative somewhere in your home? like the plant was the dragon, would that have to sit somewhere specific?
This makes so much sense! I'm learning so much watching all your videos! I need to sleep but I just can't stop :D
You are a great teacher!
"And now you know" is my new catchphrase thanks to you :) Love the videos btw
Brilliant explanation, thank you! ❤

Haha thank you. :D
This was so funny and informative.

you're most welcome!:D
thank you!
Fascinating
Thank you
My cat loves this video.
You are so handsome! :)))) Thanks for teaching us more and more!
The props never disappoint lol.
Thank you :)
Charming! This is a good explanation. What do you say about human representations in feng shui? Like in a portrait, painting, sculpture etc. Also curious as to if there's any difference if it's a random person versus an ancestor or some painting that happens to look strikingly like a family member, if that makes any difference at all.
This might sound odd, I read a lot of Chinese light novels, and they do mention these animals and their associated colours and characteristics. I never fully understood the significance behind them. Thanks for breaking it down Cliff, time got a plant in my room and promote some growth lol 👍🏾
Hi Cliff! Thanks so much for this video. Do you have any preferences about sleeping with your head facing north? What type of bed support is best, metal or wood? TFS
I so love your videos! I am learning so much! I followed everything you said until you got to the snake and it’s representation of self. I’m not sure I got that part.
My tortoise is has always been the anchor as protection is one one of the first aspects I think to align-and water, despite not being my astrological marker, is most closely tied to my spirit. Next, my dragon and Tiger are placed but I don’t have a bird 😢. How do I find my bird? I still have some learning to do. 😂
how does fung shui affect rooms with low/sloped ceilings? like a loft bedroom 🧐
Where do you put a decorative fan with a orange tiger, red sun on gold background ? It's very large..
I wanted to try and guess the 5 animals and I guessed Eagle (bird) and Snake correctly! My other three were, Fish, Bear, and Rabbit. Which is probably just my more western way of thinking.
Is the snake supposed to be a river? Or resemble one since its between mountains/valleys?
now i know 🤩
In a basement room with the only window facing east, and door to exit stairway facing west, would south be 'moveable'?
So could a tiger sign have good feng shui with a couch in the northwest position of the room even it's in front of a window
I like you
I like your dragon haha
Is it good to have a window behind your desk? It looks good in movies 😅
Hi Cliff, I’m trying to decorate my small multifunctional space with the best chi possible. I found your channel today and I love it!
So Does fire represent the red Phoenix?
And the yellow snake??
Five elements
Earth Wind Fire Water Wood?🙏🏽thank you!
yellow snake is earth, red phoenix is fire indeed
I think wind is not a primary element for them, metal is!
Apologies for the long reply, but from my understanding from just this video:
Black Turtle - North (behind you) - Water (protection, fortification)
Red Bird/Phoenix - South (ahead of you, where the sun is) - Fire (foresight)
Green Dragon - East (to to your left, where the sun rises) - Wood (growth, prosperity)
White Tiger - West (to your right, where the sun sets) - Metal (malleable, transformative)
Yellow Snake - Center/Self - Earth (balance)
The N/S/E/W directions aren't necessarily literal, but in the command position, you ideally want something solid behind you so you feel protected, the area ahead of you open enough to see your surroundings well, and the area to your sides to be assisting you in some way. From his explanation it sounds like the tiger should ideally be on your dominant side, so you can defend yourself, and the dragon on your non-dominant side so you can stay active with your dominant side while grabbing helpful things with your nondominant side, but that ideal is not completely necessary.
In terms of a desk and the space around it, to me (I could be wrong) this says the ideal position is your back against a solid wall, with a view of the rest of the room ahead of you, an escape route to your dominant side (my right in this case) and the desk's drawers/the L of an L-shaped desk/storage to your other side (my left) so you can easily grab things without taking your dominant hand off of whatever you're busy with. I suppose it also boils down to helping your dominant side being able to do active things while your non-dominant side is able to do passive things. You don't need a whole L-shaped desk to see these principles work- you keep your glass of water on the left side of your desk so that your left hand can grab your drink while your right hand can remain on the mouse so you can keep clicking/scrolling as needed, and keep things you would only use a dominant hand for on your right- mouse, pen, maybe a stapler, heavier office supplies you would want to make sure you were using your dominant hand for which conveniently double as projectiles to throw at intruders and thus make you feel a bit safer, lol.
Reality will often have you switch things up, especially when there are multiple pieces of furniture which should have their own command positions, or weird layouts. One of those command position pieces will generally take priority over the other, depending how you use them and what is important to you. These are not the end-all-be-all, of course- they are just guidelines that point you towards layouts that make you feel safe and comfortable.
From now on I'm calling all my plants dragons :D
Where can I get my hands on that "white tiger" statue? 😻
help !! re dragon and tiger... Im in the southern hemisphere. do tiger and dragon change places ??
And Now You Know! :P
Hi Cliff, how do black cats fit ?
❤😂
Where do frogs and elephants come in?
Hi, i'm new here! I love your videos🔥
Btw, about this video, i just wanna tell to you that i hate tigers... there are some reasons why i hate tigers, sorry, but..
I am on Lion side🦁☀️👑🔥
Do you have anything great and magnificent about Lions in Feng Shui?? Thankyou!!
I feel like there wasn't any lions in East asia/china but they have tiger so... there's so lions in fengshui?
*no lions
@@ntptjello5896 many Chinese buildings have added some Lion statues in front of those buildings. Like temple, etc.
There must be some meanings.
My wife commanded me to go clean the garage.
And where do I put the snake? Hold it on my laps 😂
So .. there is a tiger kinda behind you watching you without you knowing it watches you - and it might be hungry. All the while you are sharing a shot in the plant - which is a dragon - ... that looks over your shoulder to see what the yellow snake does. And there is a tortoise, that ...
Uhm.
Mothers have eyes in the back of their head lol
I want to be a cat, I don't want to be a snake.
My Chinese horoscope is actually earth snake 😂
Do you buy a photo or a symbol of those animals and place them there or are they like imaginary symbols of where the best location is for yourself please 😅
afaik they are purely symbolic, you do not need to place physical symbols of them in your space. I'm just wondering where you think you would place the snake :P
Does it count if I put a poster of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles behind my wall in the office?🤔😅
Green Dragon White Tiger??? Tommy Oliver Power Ranger much?!?!
i was following along until this guy got his East and West confused lol
pseudoscience.
It's interesting though.
1-word and then a period indicates that you are quite full of yourself saying that, but in fact it's not a pseudoscience because no one ever claimed it was a science nor anything like that. It's just an ancient framework used to create nice, comfortable, habitable spaces using a few principles that revolve around peace of mind and relies on tradition, ie experience and accumulated knowledge through generations. He never ever said "your money corner will magically make you win the lottery", more like "your money corner will remind you of money, and that will steer your thoughts and actions towards generating more wealth, which is required to generate said wealth without relying on pure luck".
