I'm so happy you like them! I don't get to weave with as much hand dyed yarn as I'd like to, but I couldn't resist yours. Now I just have to narrow down which colorway I want to buy next - you make it difficult with all the beautiful choices! 😊
from Gerry- You are getting really good at bag-making. They both look great! Since I'm also a quilter I have made all my bags out of fabric, but you have inspired me to use my weaving because I love the results you are getting. Thanks again for sharing. God bless.
That's so sweet of you. I've never made bags so there was a learning curve, but I'm having a lot of fun now! Thinner weaving is definitely easier than the chunky stuff when it comes to sewing, that's for sure. And interfacing helps a LOT! 😊
I love that you weave with regular yarn! Coming from a crochet background (although my hands won't let me crochet anymore) and having practically a store worth of yarn, you are an inspiration! I can't wait to throw some of mine on the loom and see what I can come up with!
I'm so excited to hear that!! I know what you mean - I have 30 years' worth of unused knitting stash, and I thought I had to go out and buy all new yarns to weave with, which I was just too stubborn to do! So, I started experimenting with what I had, and lo and behold it turned out great! Like you, I was starting to have problems with my hands (and wrists) and was worried I'd have to give up on yarn craft. Weaving saved me! Come join us on Ravelry and show us what you come up with! www.ravelry.com/groups/magpie-and-molly
@@magpieandmolly I like that it not so over the top. It’s just enough to see it and appreciate it. I’m trying to work up the courage again to warp up my loom 😂.
That looks fantastic! Question, I see you weave on a table, yet your loom is angled, by chance are you using the tapestry legs for the Ashford loom? Thanks, I always enjoy your thoughts on yarns and giving honest feedback!
Actually, I have a kind of odd setup, which I keep meaning to do a video on. The back of the loom is resting on a wooden crate, and the front edge is clamped to the table. I always say I'd rather spend money on yarn than a stand, plus, my studio is tiny and there's really no space for it! 😁
@@magpieandmollya video on your set up would be great so I can link to it whenever a new weaver posts “do I need to buy a stand for my loom?” There are several good alternatives to the expensive stands and it’s kinda frustrating how many people respond with some variation of “yes, absolutely, order it today.” Buying a RHL is already a pricey hurdle.
@@ladyandrade well then I'll bump that up on my list! My setup is definitely mish-mashed, but it works for me, and I love it. Stands ARE expensive and if I'd had to pay for all of it at once I wouldn't have been able to do it.
I LOVE how both bags turned out! I don’t get to see my yarn woven very often, so this was very exciting. I’m so glad you like my work!!
