In Mortal Kombat 1, Dameshi should've been Daegon. A bitter god whose destiny was denied because Raiden couldn't accept defeat. Would've been a nice continuation of the midway story and the characters alt costumes could also be their midway costumes.
@@starpyre1353 Honestly that is a really interesting idea. It would've made the continuity between Deception and Armageddon much more seamless. The 3d games are already a domino effect with its stories leading into each other, making it so they introduce the Daegon as a central villain and as an angry God would've been a nice spin (even though the Onaga reveal is still amazing to this day). I wonder how they would've continued the story from there.
I just realized I messed up this response since I thought you were talking about Deception and not MK1 (dont know why I thought that). But I still think this is an interesting idea since Lui Kang would've never met Taven or Daegon so he wouldn't have known to erase them from the timeline. Anything to remove the stupid multiverse shenanigans. Sorry for my misunderstanding, have a nice day.
Ah yes, the good ol days. I was always more of a Puzzle Kombat guy from Deception, but all of the side modes in these games were just so fun and had so much heart. Live them to pieces.
4:09 actually MKA was a success with it selling over 1 million units and considering that most video games in 2006 were $60 plus tax, over $60 million is pretty good when game budgets weren't as high as they are now and considering it was a ps2/xbox game that released when the ps3 and 360 were out. the problem was Midway's lack of successes that weren't MK.
While that's true. Since MK was Midway's cash cow, I think that the downfall in the quality of the games had to have SOME profound effect on the downfall of the studio, even if the games were financially successful.
Mortal Kombat Armageddon could have had traditional fatalities and even more content, but i think midway wanted to save costs since the game was already 4.7GB on disc and they wanted to release it on three different platforms that were on the end of their generation.
Great video mortal kombat armageddon this game brings back great memories this game has the greatest character roster of all time i love this game very underrated the only mortal kombat game that allowed you to create your own character
Havik is by far one of my favourite characters. I especially miss the Midway version, he was so unpredictable and said out of pocket things because he could.
Mortal Komabt Armageddon: had the best roster of MK (Excluding Guest Characters), but had crappy endings and a story focusing on a generic protagonist. It does have a banger soundtrack and some interesting stages at the very least.
One big problem about saying it would be too much work (or take up too much space) to give fatalitys or endings to each kombatant, is that they took time and space for the entire Kar Kombat mode
Armageddon only gets shit bc of the fatalities. Period. Which is ironic considering the many fans today dont even care bc "its just a 20 second cutscene". Motor kombat was fun as fuck and i played it online more than online vs. Also, mka didnt lead to the downfall of midway. After 1999, they were financially in the red nearly every single year and mk was the only property they could crank out for a profit. Anytime they woukd be taking a loss, "lets do another mk". It was their tit and they milked it all they could until they couldnt anymore. They were already drowning when mka dropped. The writing was on the wall and at the time, it was really beleived to be the final mk game. The fact that you're using gamespots list is quite hilarious it's self. Mk11, mk3 and mk1 (2023) top 5? 😂😂😂😂😂
I remember back in the day there was a lot of backlash to MKA. Maybe I'm just misremembering, but I could not find it for the life of me. I swear I saw a video of "worst fighting games ever" and MKA was on there, but I could not find it. So yeah... I settled for Game Spot. Incredibly reliable source, I know lol. Also, I said that it directly lead to the downfall of the studio because MK was there only profitable franchise. As soon as people start to criticize the only franchise that is making you money, that's when you know its over. Maybe I'm just being naive about it, but those were my thoughts on that. I know that they were taking losses on everything else at the time and that's why they were in the red, but the cash cow getting milked dry seemed like enough of a killer to point out. Anyway, thank you for commenting. Its always nice hearing from people who are way more informed than myself.
The ending wasn’t retconned it was redone by Kronnika Taven winning was to OP for the forces of light she restarts and gets to mk tournament and afterwards we get shaolin monks and mk vs dc then she restarts again we get a unseen timeline up to Armageddon that plays out basically the same but shao wins then raiden pulls time messaging out his ass and monkey wrenches her plans up again
I honestly do like this game And I honestly want to see the create a fatality down better while giving them actual fatalities it sucks in ways but I think Armageddon is still pretty peak honestly for the game it's fun, it has horror, it has amazing ass lore and all of this stuff to it I still love it
I would love nothing more than to have them playable on modern consoles at the very least. I'm happy we got the reboot, but those 3D games just a had a feel to them that they haven't been able to recapture in the new games. Armageddon had its issues but it is certainly peak
@@SaltySoupStudios Yeah Without Midway from here the games wouldn't get that return To mention too The game feels slow Yet the 3D games or Mortal Kombat let you combo like no tomorrow to a point it does not feel slow if you do them and it is interesting to feel on
Oh yeah I've seen the crazy things people have pulled off in these games, so the slow feel may just be a skill issue on my part. No matter what though the games feel great to play and are just incredibly fun. They really don't make em like they used to.
I hope they get a deception story mode and bring back onaga ! Say wat u wanna say but after mortal Kombat 9 everything NRS just put are have lame story with outrageous dlc 😑
I dont think it will be the next vid, but it is definitely on radar (mostly because I lost my old copy years ago and am too broke to buy a new one). Regardless I hope you enjoyed the vid, and I hope you enjoy whatever I make next.
I totally agree, I only hate on them because their designs don't fit with the rest of the cast. I admit, I dont know much about Hsu Hao, but Drahmin for sure I can see being a cool character if he had a better design.
Everyone hates hsu hao because the one that director didn't like him and they keep saying he's a kano rip-off even though we had jarek and two they're totally different characters
@mikemccauley7706 I must've missed that part of the discourse. I always just thought he looked goofy. I can see people calling him a Kano rip-off with the lasers and cybernetics and what-not, but I certainly don't think that. Plenty of characters can also fit that description, and that definitely doesn't make them a rip-off.

I remember going next door to my friends house when we were in the 5th grade and we would play Motor Kombat for hours at night. The good days

Because it's not meant to be a conclusion.

Mk deception needs to be on ps5 cuz id love to play konquest again
You and me both man, Deception was great and probably had the best story of all the games
@@SaltySoupStudios right 😁
I hope they remake this game
Maybe one day. A boy can dream....
No, I hope they don't.
MORTAL KOMBAT VS DC WASN'T THAT BAD you're just mad cuz you don't know how to deal with the armor
The 3d era had a lot of potential to be great
Mk1 is probably worst tbh
The biggest problem was Deception was leagues better than Armageddon. Also it didn't have fatalities or ladder art. Also Motaro.

I mean, There's plenty of Fatality Animations they could've reused from Deadly Alliance and Deception for characters already present in those games.
Mortal Kombat: Armageddon as very cool
This is why Mortal Kombat sucks garbage bad storyline and characters dying all thanks to Ed Boon

Kronika was responsible to start the timeline from Mortal Kombat 2011
