So clear for a complete novice. Right now to go and use it.. You have given me confidence, Thank you
Clearest explanation I’ve been able to find - thank you!
I bought my first torque wrench yesterday so this has been very helpful and informative for when I use it first time tomorrow when changing the spark plugs on my car.
Glad it helped 🙂👍
@@spicy110 I've just this minute had a got at setting it to 27Nm
Possibly the best explanation on UA-cam on how to use a torque wrench.
Unlike videos with half a million views which just state ‘ just turn the bottom and you have your setting, thank for watching ‘ 🙄
This deserves more views. Thanks
Thanks I have understood better now how to use this for my Tangential Flow Filtration process. All the best Mate!
Just joined patreon, keep up the great work man!
Very good , They come in handy , just fitted crash bars to my bike (hopefully won't need them!) but they used some of the engine mounting bolts , so pretty critical to get the right torque
Best regards Shaun
Awesome, best explanation Iv seen on how to use a torque wrench. Thanks mate.
Thanks 👍
Thanks for doing this mate, I found it very useful.
Excellent video. Thank you.
Nice, and awesome you added the what happens when you overtighten bit too! :-)
Oooo yes sir!!!! Just in time for my new bike!!!
Good video, thank you 👍
Great vid !!! Thanks 😊
Brilliant job please keep it up🙏🙏
Well, I thought I knew all I needed to know about my torque wrench, I’m off to relax my wrench off! Cheers Spicy
Brilliant bro. Cheers
Thank you! Cheers!
Really useful video for the mechanically inept like me. 🙂
Great tutorial, thanks.
You're welcome!
Bang on.
It seems to me that you are off by one line when you are explaining, say, 60. The line you are setting at the bottom is actually for 40Nm, the 60 one is one mm above it. The same is when you do the full rotation and instead of 70Nm you land on 50Nm. 20Nm difference is quite a big difference in my opinion.
Ottima spiegazione ,grazie
verry well explaned thank you
You are welcome!
Not to muddy the waters, you can also get on the little ones inch-lb as well, As i am old i often use this one but i am getting used to NM now.
Excellent thanks
Helps thanks
That was great thanks
No worries!
Nice explain
Next video up.... How to use a spanner !! Lol. You both are fab, love ya ...
Very useful video, fully explained the mystery of the Draper Torque Wrench. Lol @ two camps - those who use wrenches and those whose wheels etc fall off.
Torque wrenches are a must ;)
I only use one on important things that has alot of vibration. Like engine / frame supports, axle, sproket nuts, spark & inside my engine. Anything else i can get away with feel & if they come lose i'll tighten them back up & throw some blue lock tight on them. (stupid mirrors.) I mainly use it on these parts as if i over tighten them or not enough it could be catastrophic snapped bolt = $$$$ engine falling out, rear wheel falling off ect these are all very bad things lol
Nice vid 👍🏻
Best one I ever bought was the Wera 1/2” up to 200Nm. Pricey but great
Do a vid on how to use a multi metre (electrical) baffles the hell out if me!
Nice one
Thanks
One point I would like to make about using torque wrenches - your torque will only be accurate if the wrench clicks while the bolt/nut is turning. If it clicks straightaway when you begin to tighten, the breakaway torque needed to overcome the friction and get it moving may have given you a false reading, so you should back it off half a turn and retighten in one continuous movement until it clicks.
Your demonstration with the bolt in the vice raised another important point - stainless steel bolts may look pretty, but they have nowhere near the tensile strength of even standard grade (8.8) steel bolts. They should never be used for critical applications like brake calipers, which usually need a higher than standard grade (12.9), or suspension bolts.
What must happen with the hexagon locknut just below the knurled main setting part? Can that be permanently left at hand tight, and only the round knurled part below it tightened by hand when using the torque wrench on a bolt?
Yes, you just do it up hand-tight to lock the torque setting.
Only issue I have is setting this torque wrench to 174. I have a basic manual wrench PR M202 P
Thank u
I was messing around with mine, I think i unscrewed the bottom bit. I've put it all back together but is it possible to mess the calibration up by fiddling with it?
In theory, yes, it would be possible as they have a calibration screw. If that wasn't moved however it might be OK. Honestly really hard to say.
Can someone answer my question even spicy110. If my cars wheel studs are tightened to 105Nm,does that mean I set my torque wrench to 103Nm and move it from zero to 2. As I think that 103 +2 =105. Is that the correct way to set my torque wrench as I’ve never used one but I know they are essential for wheel studs on cars. Just want to make sure that is correct. Can someone please verify if that is correct
Hey how many newton meter of torque for a ram 2500 ?
Cross section of Britool co. Torque wrench assembly parts.
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Good video mate, there are too blokes out there that do not pay attention to torque….
Can you do one for 25 nm plz
Are you asking me to make a whole video to show you how to set it to a different number than the arbitrary one I used to show you how to set it?
I got a torque wrench that has no quick release, I've been lost ever since on how to remove it
Remove the socket?
I feel dumb, I got to you starting to set a figure before realising I'd misread the title ; I thought you were about to tell me an easy way to calibrate a torque wrench 😥
What if i need 255 nm
This video clearly explains how to set a wrench, if yours goes up to that level follow the same as described here.
@@spicy110 it only goes to 210 and then the spin bit goes to 12 so wouldn’t that be 222nm ?
You should change your title to torque wrench’s for limey’s
I am a limey lol not sure what you mean with that one.
Would you recommend both of your Torque Wrenches ?
They have both worked great still to this day so I would say I am happy with them.
@@spicy110Thank you, they are fair priced and so will grab both, enjoy your Saturday
MINAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I used a torque wrench on a rear wheel once - bearing failed 15 miles down the road.
Never used one on my bikes since (except for engine components)
But with nearly a decade in the motor trade my arm is calibrated
Excellent tutorial 👍! As an “old fart” I can assure you that as arthritis and carpal tunnel sets in with age, your “calibrated hands” in place of a torque wrench are 💩😆. Good torque wrenches will save you hours of aggravation and a bucket load of money 😉.
Wait what happened to TAF and not-so-TAF? xD
Haha learners need to learn what is right, I have come to realise not only will it save them issues it helps them get the feel to not need one.
Whoever said we don’t need to use Torque wrenches I have a bet for you. I’m an Aircraft Mechanic. I’ll stop using T (lbs) Wrenches if you fly in the airplanes ✈️ I fix.
I’m gonna bet those people will not. 😂
Hahaha
