Thank you! Within ONE MINUTE, you explained how to use it. Unlike other videos where they talked for 5 mins or more before explaining.
I know which video you're talking about!
Jason Lane which one
Jason Lane put the link i need a laugh
He is ChrisFix, the man who doesn't waste anyones time with some nonsence. Wish all youtubers do the same.
That other bloke was a complete muppet.
This is the closest we will ever get to seeing Chris…
Yeah
And when he was racing
In his how to super clean your windshield video you can see him
As if it matters
Mind my ignorance, why what's happened to him? I take it he may have passed if so what happened
When done using a torque wrench, you should set it to 0 ft/lb or its LOWEST setting. Leaving it with a torque reading other than its lowest setting or 0 for a long time will also ruin the torque readings.
Frank Gonzalez Thanks for sharing!
0 can actually break the calibration too
Mine actually says to store at 10ft/lbs. Probably depends on the wrench.
Proto recommends storing their torque wrenches at 20% of full scale.
@@kennethniswonger3514 It's usually within 20% of the max torque of the wrench.
51 years old and you just taught me how to use a torque wrench! Thanks. I guess I'm too much the computer nerd.
+MrArtist1971 Awesome! Here is even more info: ua-cam.com/video/3v3hLvuO_KU/v-deo.html
MrArtist1971 I agree. I’m 49 and worked on cars. I realize how proper tools are.
Don't feel bad, I'm 56 and I JUST learned how to use it too!
Damn, guys, what have y'all been doing all your life?
gee mate i just watched an 8 minute video on how to use one of these and at the end i learned nothing. when i clicked on your video i picked it up within a minute thanks mate.
***** Awesome! That is the goal! Glad the video was helpful!
Thanks dude, I never used a torque wrench, so this was a learning experience in record timing. I appreciate what you do for us newbies.
Glad the video was helpful! Be sure to watch this one too (updated with more tips): ua-cam.com/video/3v3hLvuO_KU/v-deo.html
Keep your hand on the handle while torquing with smooth steady rotation. Clean dry threads help too
Your “how to video’s” are timeless. Learned so much from you including your detailed explanation.Thank you so much!!!
Thanks a lot!
I prefer pulling up because you have more control. Especially when you are torquing 100ft-lbs or higher because if the wrench falls off the bolt, you are gonna get hurt! But good point about your back muscles!
for unlocking nuts push down and for locking nut also push down, never pull up. yes more control but if the nut its tight af and you force your back you will really feel your snipe when it unlocks out of nowhere
7Westwood, Here is what you are looking for: How to Change a Wheel Bearing (long and detailed version)
Every vehicle has its own torque specs so you will have to figure that out, but for the van in the video, that is how you use a torque wrench to torque down the axle nut. And that wheel bearing has been good ever since!
+ChrisFix how to know compatible parts with any vehicle ??
That is a good tip! Thanks for the comment! I will add it into the annotations!
Man, you cleared up every question I had bout using a Torque wrench, I was to embarrassed to ask my mechanic, but you saved my face bro. I appreciate em!
How are you doing so far
thank you for being one of the few who made a video on this that is under 10 minutes long. I've been doing basic repairs for years and am now starting to dig deeper into the engine, just needed a quick tutorial and you supplied that for me. Thank you!
No prob! You should watch the newer version with more info: ua-cam.com/video/3v3hLvuO_KU/v-deo.html
Thanks! Tried for simplicity and just fast facts.
I just want to say thank you for not having an 8-10 min video on this. And cutting right to the point👍🏼
Just watched like 5 different clips on how to use a torque wrench and most of them were over 8 minutes long and confusing as f#%+. This was by far the best explanation and straight to the point. Thanks Chris !
Chris's videos are concise, precise, fast, with excellent videography. And he thinks like you would think. Nothing else comes close to his videos. See for yourself. He needs a TV show.
As usual straight and to the point. I was watching this one video and normally I don't say anything, but 5 minutes of talking and still hadn't touched the tool. I lost my instructions for the inch pound and had a feeling of how to use it but always a great refresher from Chris Fix.
A simple easy video. Thanks ChrisFix for doing so many videos for all us weekend warrior mechanic wannabes! It helps a ton!
I just replaced my brakes and rotors, so I purchased a torque wrench to get my lug nuts back on to spec. Just one problem I had no clue in hell on how to use one! You helped me so much. Just wanted to say thank you! Great video!
Great! That is what I like to hear and that is why I make these "how to" videos! Remember to give the video a "thumbs up (it helps me out, thanks)!
Good tip! Thanks!
love your videos. I keep a torque wrench in my truck in case of a flat away from home. didn't know that leaving it set on one setting would cause trouble. thanks for the info.
Thanks a lot for a short video. You're quick and to the point and no time wasted. I subscribed and look forward to learning more from you.
It's also a good idea , when finished using a torque wrench, to adjust it back to zero. Thanks for all your great videos. Every one I have watched has been top-notch.
Thank you for this video. Needed a quick, clear and easy understanding of how to use a torque wrench. Thank you for making this video. Right to the point! Perfect!
Thank you for the video. My torque wrench arrived ten minutes ago and the instructions included are not clear - they assume you knew already how to use it. Your video makes it perfectly clear.
+v8pilot Awesome! Glad the video was helpful and now you know a lot about using and taking care of your torque wrench! Did you see this video which is the newest: ua-cam.com/video/3v3hLvuO_KU/v-deo.html
never knew how to use these. I'm buying one today to install an AC unit. FANTASTIC VIDEO!!! Subscribed!
Clear, concise, and clean delivery of information. Awesome! Thank you.
Lucien Midnight Thanks! I am glad the video was helpful!
Thanks Chris, I bought one and was struggling with setting it at 100lbs, but I think I got it now. Thanks a lot.....
+Mike Oneill no problem! Glad the video was helpful!
Dude, Thank you for making a quick video, please make many more like this. Dont. ever. stop.
Love you and your videos thank you for getting me out of some tuff spots.
My father has a torque wrench just like that one, but is 30+ years old! We take good care of it, like you said never ever dropping it and never forcing too much it beyond the torque set. Works like a charm, every 5 years we take it to adjustment (just as a precaution) and it's always fine. Seriously, a very good wrench! :)
David Miranda Awesome and good to know! Thanks for sharing bud!
What places calibrate torque wrenches?
@@delasmootoys r us
Great video. Simple, short and to the point. Excellent instruction. Thank you.
Thanks! I just bought a torque wrench and this was very helpful.
Hi Chris! You make really good and informative videos. Thank you for your work.
I would like to give you one advice regarding this video:
You really should not make that second turn with the tourque-wrench. What that does is over-tightening the bolt beyond the specified tourqe.
One has to move the wrench slow and steady and never click it more than once.
If you go to calibrate your wrench, they might let you try to tighten to a specified tourqe on a test-cell wich show realtime values of what force you are applying. That is a really good way of learning some tricks on how to tighten with tourqe.
Again thanks for all your hard work👍🏼
Thanks for the tip!! This is an old video, the updated video is here: ua-cam.com/video/3v3hLvuO_KU/v-deo.html
I like this video, you didn't waste a lot of time, you just got right to the point and taught me something. Thanks!
Gee whiz, quick and easy! Now... I can finally use my new torque wrench... that's been on the shelf in the garage for at least 7 months. Thanks!!
Thank you I had no idea. I grew up watching and helping my dad mechanic and how to adjust a torque wrench but that's about all. thank you for the info. I'm a noob but not afraid of getting my hands dirty or learning something new.
william mckay Great! That is the idea with my how to videos. Teaching people about how to fix their car and the tools that go a long with it.
Legit. Thanks for the help. Good edits and zoom with the camera.
Thank you Chris! Your videos help so much!
Very helpful. Thank you very much for keeping it brief and helpful.
I'm replacing hydraulic seals on my bass boat. Ordered parts and much to my surprise I need a torque wrench. Awesome, why not spend more money ! Anyhow this is a tool I've never used. so this video was quick and to the point. I'm getting a cheep one at Northern tools cause...This will be the only time I'm sure I'll need this fancy gadget for 3 nuts to tighten. been around 48 years, grew up on a farm. Changed tractor tires, truck tires etc...None of us ever used a fancy torque gizmo...but I need it for this job so my seals will seal properly...Thanks for the vid !
+Kelly Davis Glad the video was helpful. Watch this one too: ua-cam.com/video/3v3hLvuO_KU/v-deo.html
Thanks for the lesson Chris, have not ever used a torque wrench before. Learned the old school way by feel, but it often leads to ovet tightening.
Thank you. This was the info I needed.
Great, great video! It's short but gave me everything I needed. Thank you so much!
Nicely done. Well spoken and well produced.
Thanks for the quick and precise instructions.
8 years later and your video's still the best
Your videos are great. Information is clear and to the point.
I confess I was waiting the "Hey guys!!!" lol! Great video as always, thanks for teaching us so much!!!
Some people explain things way better than others..... thank you very kindly. Very nice video.
Thank you. I want to learn to change my own break pads and was concerned about putting the bolts back on the wheel.
I don't know anyone that does their own work and it seems so scary. Many videos show how to change break pads but leave out the most important part; taking off and putting on the lug nuts.
I've been looking up car videos and tool stuff all day only one that was clear and helped thankyou
I'm glad the video was helpful! Thanks a lot!
1:11 face reveal
Zoraiz Bin Faraz voice sounds like a 13 year old, face looks like a 40 year old lol
@@yakuzaohtani3631 Lol he doesn't look 40, hair seems to be going away though.
I thought he was a teenager lol
That's why he makes sure he doesnt show his face in his videos anymore because people are so judgemental. Are we here for his looks or his knowledge?
@@WBrown-jp6sj social media is always judge mental and it’s honestly insane.
Thanks Chris, I found this video and comments extremely helpful. I've started to work on some motorcycles (tired of paying others to do this stuff) and this helped me figure out how to make use of the tool.
Tommie N. Carter, Jr. No problem! I am glad the video was helpful! New automotive 'how to' videos every Thursday and most Mondays so stay tuned (even if you have a bike it is helpful)!
Very short but said all, no BS. Love ya!
Good simple explanation. You should always turn it back to 0 setting when not in use though, as the pressure will put the calibration out over time.
Hello chris
Its the first time to see you
Nice to see its a real person great work
Thank you
Shiraj
Thank you. Nice, simple video😊😊
Hey Chris, I just bought a torque wrench to tighten my lug nuts and change out my summers and winters. What are the other 2 things that I need? Is it a socket and driver? I didn't know what they are called exactly and what to order for my cars. Thanks Chris! Seriously awesome, super easy-to-understand and descriptive videos!
You are truly the best. I been looking for a video on this subject and couldn't find one that got to the point and was simple like your video, I thank you a lot and keep up with the videos they have helped me out a lot thanks once again.
gmustell95 Thanks a lot! I am glad the video was helpful!
You rock! Thanks a lot for the great video. You get right to the point, no goofy comments or pauses.
Glad the video was helpful
Thank you. I haven't used one in over a decade. I appreciate the info.
Dont drop or bump the wrench!!! Thanks. I usually keep my tools like this in a bucket of bang around, didnt think the spring would be that sensitive. Probably saved me a trip to spec restorer
Thanks, it was short but impactful video
Keep up the good work. .I come to your channel alot for info. I'm just getting into fixing my own car
Alexander Felton Thanks and awesome!
u forgot to mention that using anything other than a normal socket (like a crowsfoot ) will throw off your readings. i was also always instructed to use the torque wrench from the handle and not holding your hand closer to the head while torquing as this will also change the torque applied. very good videos and keep up the good work man.
Thanks for a simple explanation on how to use and how to store a Torque wrench as ( kefied ) said below 1 minute explanation PERFECT
Very helpful video. Thanks Chris!
Thanks!
Tnx Chris fix ur video tutorials are knowledgeable and help me a lot of learned for me ur a very good mechanic instructor.
Very well explained and easy to understand. Thank you. 💪
Good quick instructional vid Chris. As always, viewers, remember that using an extension and / or deep sockets will throw your torque specs off slightly ( especially for HIGH TORQUE ) And lastly, make sure your surfaces are clean and rust free. Using some assembly grease will help where allowable. Rusty surfaces and nuts/ bolts will BIND, throwing off your settings and possibly causing parts to break. KEEP WRENCHIN' JK.
James Krivitsky extension does not affect torque setting, you can try 2 feet long extension on a test machine it will still show the right torque. It will only affect impact gun, because force applied is not continuous unlike torque wrenches. Do some experiments before spreading “knowledge” in public, would you expert?
Excellent explanation
Thank you. Clear instructions. Much appreciated!
I look up how to use torque wrench , and of course Chris fix has my back. Thank you
THANK YOU!!! SO SIMPLE TUTORIAL! HELPED ALOT!!!
Thank you for clear, simple, and just enough technical details. And the care comment.
Thanks Chris. I never tightened the torque setting on my wrench and just changed my pads and rotors hope it’s all ok
Thanks a lot man! Very concise and straight to the point!
Thank you sir! Very well explained and straight to the point.
Thank you man is really helpful
Thank u very much for your fast answer man I'll search for them,I really like your videos, very good explained.
Carlos Rios No problem and thanks Carlos!
Nice video - good info, brief, to the point. Thank you!
Great info on torque wrench useage, care, and maint! I had no idea dropping it would affect its accuracy. I and every other mechanic noob thank you!
aseredy Thanks man! Another tip is to keep the wrench on the lowest setting when storing. You want to have a little tension on the spring, but not a lot.
Hi Chris, I haven't looked through all the comments, so this may have already been said. But you must have your hand over the load centre of the torque wrench. If you hold your hand half way along or use a pipe, the torque delivered to the fastener will change.
Thanks Chris for the quick reply...I will check out the videos.... Keep up the great work, it's really appreciated..... :-)
Thank you Chris fix, saved me again
Thank you for this tutorial. I just bought one and I didn’t have no clue how to use it.
Hey Chris, I am a fan of yours and I find your videos are very clear, helpful and easy to follow. I was wandering if you can make a how to video? The problem I have is a passanger airbag light that is always on indicating airbags are off in the instrument panel whether there is someone on the seat or not. The car is 2007 lexus rx350 and was in rear end accident. Airbags were not deployed and only the rear door was replaced. I saw a few videos about unplugging and plugging back in some cables underneath the passenger seat but problem still exist. Thanks man
Thank you sir plain and simple
Thanks, best and most simple explanation!
+Michael Mayhem No problem! Here is another more in-depth torque wrench video I did: ua-cam.com/video/3v3hLvuO_KU/v-deo.html
This guy is literally the best guy.
Thanks for the video. Just a quick note regarding the wobble extensions. The Torque adjustment is different when you use an extension. There is a formula to calculate it for each wrench. I would suggest to add that to your video. Thanks again! :)
Thanks a lot, very helpful. 👍👍
Thank you Chris. Finally made a comment. Watch ur videos all the time:)
This is UA-cam at its most useful. Thanks so much.
I'm glad the video was helpful! If you think this is helpful, check out the videos I have on my Channel!!!
Thanks Chris, again. I was just in another video in how to use a Torque Wrench , and I had to leave it, of course I give him my thumps down, lol. I got the same wrench, and I didn't know how to use it. Now I do. Thanks...Oh BTW, thanks for the tips at the end of the video.
Jammin Dave Awesome! I am glad my video was helpful. I think I might make another torque wrench video soon because it is such an important tool and I have learned a few more tips like keep the torque wrench set at the lowest torque when storing.
Thanks for your informative videos Chris. You have helped me through a lot of projects. How about showing me how to replace the inner tie rods on my 2000 Impala. While it only has 68k miles on it, the rubber on the inner and outer tie rods is shot and it is just a matter of time till they fail. Thanks James in Pauline South Carolina
Thank you again for the help. I was able to gently pry it off. I just didn't want to damage the wrench, which leads me to my next (embarrassing) question. Prior to watching your video, I .watched another "how to" video that recommended oiling the torque wrench. Because my wrench felt stiff and didn't turn with ease, I thought I'd shoot some oil inside the spot where the rubber stopper is.Now, I realize this is where the wrench is recalibrated with allen keys. Have I ruined the wrench. If yes, I'll just buy another one and chock one up for stupidity. I was, however, a little surprised that the package inserts didn't outline the anatomy a little more.
Tom Johns I see no reason to oil a wrench, especially if it is newer. I have yet to oil mine and it is a few years old and still is calibrated. I would think the parts in the wrench that should be oiled from the factory would stay oiled because it is a relatively closed system that isnt exposed to dirt or water. How do you know it was hard to move? I would try and test it and see if it is still in spec. That is the only way to tell if it is messed up from the oil.
Awesome guide! Thank you!
good vids, keep up the good work
Thanks man! Will do!
