Love it ! I know its been a few years. Reminds me of a well built boat. Perfectly planned and made. Love the contrast and wood. Thank you for sharing. Hope to start ours soon.
Wow I love the build technique . Best I've seen on here. Im going to do one myself but a toy hauler shape . Same type construction as you did here. One other idea I had was a thinner SIP panel construction technique . Would be super fast and easy and extremely easy and cheap to heat and cool . Drawback is you would have to weld up a press to make the panels if you didnt want to buy them premade .
Absolutely the best small trailer build I've seen, I too am 6'5 and I'm building a trailer similar to yours but a little longer and taller. Thank you for the inspiration to complete it.
With today's weather, I'm pondering the idea of living in one like this in my golden years. I was thinking of buying a car transport and building one on it.
Your caravan has come up looking great this is a practical tear drop. I currently building a similar shaped retro caravan using a similar technique as your build.
Great build and very nice finish. It looks really clean inside and out. I'm looking to build something really similar but with a teardrop type rear hatch that opens up. Have you any suggestions or quick do's and don't s? Is there anything you would do differently on the build?
pretty nice one! But I wouldn`t go for that fibre insulation, it is pretty sensitive to humidity and is said to shrink then and not to go back to the original shape. Besides that, among allthe diy trailers I watched in YT - probably the nicest one and not that extreme small. Realistic use and some bad weather time spent in will not feel like in a cave.
Great looking camper about the side I'm looking for, but I need more than 5' height. I understand you work mostly in teardrops, and your work looks fantastic.
Absolutely amazing. I am about to build my own now too. Where did you get the supplies? Like... fiber glassing, windows, doors etc. I'm worried about water leaking over time
Wow super nice build. I'm planning mine and yours is basically what I want. Where did you get your door and windows from? I can't seem to find a good supplier.
Rancher, thanks buddy. I was all set to do my first build as a small teardrop. But in the back of my mind I'm hounded by wanting dinette, platform beds with storage under, closed off toilet and some headroom. Now I see what you did here and I have to go back to the drawing board because this is perfect. It's amazing that none of the major manufacturers haven't marketed more of this type of more basic (lack better term) trailer. Do you an idea of her weight? Also, I can't really see the top edge aluminum? molding. Thanks again. This is beautiful.
What's the length and width? 6x10 like a larger teardrop? What's it weigh? Looks like the perfect step up for slightly less minimalist camping Compared to a regular teardrop
if you put some radiant foil barrier on the sides and roof after the insulation you would greatly improve the heat deflection and retention ..also using Roxol fiber rock insulation it becomes very resistant to fire .. I have to burn this stuff with a 2000 degree torch.. barely fazes it . I think for a tiny increase in cost u would have a jump in value
Hello. I am getting ready to build a teardrop and I am looking around for Ideas. Yours is probably the closest as to anything that I have seen that I want to build to may I ask what the measurements on the bathroom is? Also where did you get your windows/doors/holding tank from? I would love to see where the water system is located. This is just beautiful
Wonderful build! I just stripped an old popup down to the frame to build a similarity sized trailer. How much does yours weigh unloaded? The max weight for my trailer frame is 2200 lbs, and I'm afraid my trailer will be too heavy.
Try adding radiant for foil barrier paper..it's thin aluminum metal with a poly backing for insulation..it works way better than the standard old-fashioned insulation that pink stuff look up radiant foil barrier
Great build! I do have a question. The wife and I are at step one of our build and that is we purchased a trailer. We need ours to fit under a standard (American) garage door which is 7' (84"). Will yours, what is the finished exterior height? We are trying to avoid designing/building a pop-up roof.
I have noticed in the past after stripping and replacing panels on static caravans that have only been moved several times, the fiberglas insulation drops down and gets compressed considerably under its own weight times the force of bumps and vibration especially on bad roads. I have seen it compressed down almost as far as halfway meaning no real insulative qualities above this point. I would imagine polystyrene would be lighter and more rigid with greater insulative qualities as well from what I can remember. I know polystyrene is not fireproof but even a fiberglass insulated caravan will go up in smoke quickly if a fire gets out off hand hence the need for good fire extinguishers and smoke alarms. There may be a paint to treat the polystyrene before fitting to make it more fire resistant. Fiberglass boats go up in smoke quickly along with plywood so worrying about polystyrene to me would seem a bit pointless anyway as it's probably already too late to save the camper, When fire gets to this point everyone should be out of it. Is there a reason why you chose not to use it? Nice build and the fact it has a toilet for its size is a great touch.
With the frame style you used, your axle placement was locked in. Did you plan trailer weight distribution into your build? What is the final tongue weight and overall GVW?
I've been drawing up various plans all winter, to build a trailer that my Toyota 4 runner SUV could properly pull, it's rated for 5k according to the owners manual, but that's seems a bit high, going to shoot for less, and I have to make it from reclaimed materials that I collect, and built a tiny house as well, but also need the smaller trailer, to head to the desert in winters because of health issues from the cold. This one is 3,500 pounds? Most of that is the trailer, my tiny house trailer is 1350 pounds, but that's lower down weight, don't want to go too top heavy, but don't want to be blown around either. How does this pull and is there a video of the finished inside?
Jesus bro you must be so proud of yourself.
Love it ! I know its been a few years. Reminds me of a well built boat. Perfectly planned and made. Love the contrast and wood. Thank you for sharing. Hope to start ours soon.
This thing is absolutely awesome! I love that it was built from the ground up ! Fantastic job!
Very good job! Looks better than the stuff from factory. Super impressed that you did your own upholstery.
That makes my build look simple, I'm just here getting ideas for my teardrop camper. Good job sir

Very nice build. Very similar to my TD. It is a Ben Roy style.
Wow super nice build. I'm planning mine and yours is basically what I want. Where did you get your door and windows from? I can't seem to find a good supplier.
me encanta esta muy bonita y muy bien terminada
Good lookin' rig and quite functional. Nice job. -b
very very cool. I could even convince the wife to go camping in this.
Could you please give me some measurements and the weight of this trailer? It's beautiful

Very nice! What did you use for exterior coating? It seems to be very bright white
Thats pretty slick !
Excellent

Really really pretty. I wish I could build that nicely. I can build a barn, but nothing that needs to be precise and pretty.
thanks, check out my latest build, it's bigger, ua-cam.com/video/vNzcECRdywo/v-deo.html
What was the cost to build it.What is the length. I am building one to these measurements. L8XW6XH5.5.
Hi there, just want to say excellent build. Can you tell me what steps that you took to fabricate the roof and seal it?
Where did you purchase the aluminum sheets? Tks

That's a good looking trailer van. Do you have the plans on how to make this trailer for sale? I'd be interested.
👍👍 Espectacular 👍👍

How do you get your exterior ellipse so perfect?

Cool ideas;)
thank you for video I wish you put some price and let us know how much is going to take to build something like this
pretty damn good

I see its been a while since you posted this. Have you made anymore and the big question is what was the round about cost of this one to build!!??
This is beautiful. Do you take orders for building them in the US?
GREAT JOB..

Might be a dumb question, but is that RV aluminum you put on the outside walls, and where did you buy it? I can't find it anywhere. Great job!
very nice!
With the frame style you used, your axle placement was locked in. Did you plan trailer weight distribution into your build? What is the final tongue weight and overall GVW?
Very nice!
Great build. What size trailer platform did you use? How tall did you make the interior? Thanks in advance.
Excellent build..! Courious about total weight?
That is a very nice build.! Made better than in factory. I wonder what material cost are?
Nice! I was wondering what thickness of aluminum you used?

I WANT THIS PLAN
Very nice
very nice by the way... very nice
do you have any details on materials used and where is the material sourced from?
