My back hurts from watching this. :) . Nice build though.
You think your back hurts imagine mine 🤣
Brilliant and beautiful. Any idea of the total cost?
hard to throw out those old Nike socks huh
honestly really impressed that he completed this build in under 10 minutes
😂😂😂
Hahaha
Would have taken me at least 20 minutes…..😂
If you watch close you can watch the seasons change in this video 😂😂 gives you an idea on how long it took
I put it on 2x speed and he completed it in under 5 min! O_o
The way this project was shot+edited made me feel way more invested in every step than is typical for youtube camper builds, great job!
Lame
Thanks Mike!!
@@oggyoggy1299no room to talk bro
If you do add solar, may I suggest you mount a panel or two (preferably two if there is room) on the roof, then adapt the wiring to XT60 this way you can plug directly into the EcoFlow with no charge controller etc. This will give you a lot more capacity for the E.F. River and give you a bit of time in the field camping to figure out your total electrical needs. Then you can design your LiFePO4 battery pack/charge controller based on your actual, field tested needs. This trailer turned out so good, I cannot wait for your fist weekend camping video!!! Thank you for taking us along during the build!!!
Thanks for the advice Charlie!! Also thanks for watching! We have taken it camping a few times already but no cameras were rolling haha. I will make a camp video in the future though!!
Panels are so easy to set up, and maybe you don't want to park in the direct sun. You're out in the sun on the road, but anything you have on your roof is blocking the sun, so maybe just start packing panels.
Agree with roof mount. My build has a roof top tent and only had "floor space" for one panel. So I mounted one fixed but mounted drawer slides on the uprights holding it. Then mounted a second so it would slide out when we are in camp for 200w when stationary. Great way to save roof space for cargo (bike mounts eg) but still maximize solar when camped.
@@jviewerm Thats a great idea, quick to set up and quick to stow!!!
Welding and grinding in Crocs…That’s awesome! Glad to see I’m not the only one who does it. Fantastic build build. Looks great.
Hahaha I’m in and out of the house alot the quick on and off is the ticket 😂 thank you!
I weld in shorts and sliders.
Great Job it’s so great being young , working off buckets bent over no problem . I’m 65 and those days are over I do projects but I’ll set up work tables and horses. Nice job guy 👍
Thank you Richard!
Yes! Protect your knees! I agree with Richard !
Me too 🏴
My favourite thing about this build is no super specialist tools. With the right skills and tools accessible to pretty much everyone. Clearly has great skills 👌
Thank you Matthew!
I regret not taking welding classes in high school. This is great!
It's super easy to learn. I taught myself in 8th grade in the 70's-- no internet, etc. Now with youtube, it is even easier to learn.
This is probably the best camper/trailer build on UA-cam.
What a amazing job! The build quality on this is way better than something that you can buy. You will be using this for a very long time.
Thank you!! Very happy with the outcome
Bud, this is one of the best builds I've seen. Sturdy and well executed. Thanks for sharing.
You are very talented. I can see the attention to detail and precision that you possess also. Great craftsmanship!
Thank you Aaron!!
One of the best minimalist overland builds I have seen thus far. Very nice
I've been following along the entire build and it's good to see it condensed here. I like the way you stacked the sides when building the frame to make them identical. So many people try to build them vertically on the trailer and it always seemed more prone to error - I'm intending doing it the way you did. Do you have any idea on the final weight?
Thanks man! It was equally as cool to me to see it all in this video too! I was really excited about this one.
I don’t have an exact # on the weight but I’d say under 1000lbs for sure!
I subscribed and plan to save this Chanel for 20 years so I can see his next build. It’s going to be similar but able to stand up and a place to sit down . This guy is young and a hustler with a strong back . Just a great Job can’t wait to see the next one.
Haha who knows what’s next but I have some ideas in mind! Thank you for subscribing and watching!
Super cool man, as a young guy this is really inspirational to start building some personal things. Guys at work always tell me I should, but you just made it look super easy with not that many tools. Can’t wait to see what you do next.
Thanks Jacob! Doesn’t take much to get started! Learning new skills is one of the most valuable things you can do for yourself. I learned alot with each of the trailer builds I’ve done and continue to learn with everything I make!
@@Adv4x4 I have recently started welding on the weekend with my boss, building things to go in our trailer at work. I feel like I’ve already learned so much. Would love to build something like this some day.
Awesome! Have no doubt you could pull it off. Anyone can make it happen if they apply themselves 👌🏼
Great build. Really enjoyed watching that. I've been building Teardrop trailers since 1994 and this design is really appealing to me. On the rattle from the hitch, look up the anti-rattle ubolt. That will fix the rattle for sure. Also, to get more weight on the tongue put the axle farther back.
I love your attention to detail! Nice work!
Thank you!
That window looks great! I love how small and compact this camper is. It looks like the perfect way to get out and enjoy nature. 😍 [12:06]
Cool design. Just one point, you should avoid welding all around the tongue tube. It could break under fatigue without warning.
Beautiful job! Helps me appreciate all the work I got out of with my 4x6 cargo conversion. It's small enough that I pull it with a 2009 Scion XD... It's great to build your camper to your own needs. Have fun out there!
Thanks John!!
@@Adv4x4 I can appreciate building your camper from scratch... It's taken me forever just to put stuff in a ready made trailer...lol
Really enjoyed this, that Milwaukee fan is a real lifesaver, electrician myself and I won't go into an attic without it.
Thanks man! I use mine like crazy. Helps make camping in hot weather at night more doable too haha
Love the vids. And the result. Quick question though: Have you weighed it?
I’m really curious for the ballpark mass… and if it’d be a feasible option for my current CUV.
Thank you! I’d guess under 1k lbs probably close to 800
I was impressed with the trailer before you even built the camper! You've got mad fabricating and welding skills!
Que trabalho bem feito!
Parabéns!!!
Ficou top!
You are why women who love men, love men! Awesome work! Hope y’all have great adventures!
Haha thank you!!
First time on the channel and I have to say that your build is really awesome honestly and it looks amazing as well as the campsite lol. I wish you safe and happy travels and please keep us updated on improvements/ add-ons. Hope all is well with you and yours and thank you for sharing this beautiful DIY camper with us. 🙏🙏
Oh and I'm absolutely subscribing lol!.
Thank you!!🙌🏻 if you haven’t, check out the detailed build videos on the trailer as well. I’ve also build 2 other trailer as well that are documented!
@@Adv4x4 Oh I definitely will right now thanks for the heads up, Have a wonderful night and can't wait to see what you upload next.🙏🍻
Thanks man!
@@Adv4x4 You are very welcome good sir!, Thank you for sharing this and giving us the opportunity to build the same with the Plans/How2. I really want to build a "Tiny Home" for myself but I haven't got the time or money "Right now" been saving though and I plan to do so. And I don't mean to bug you but I'd love to hear your thoughts on a different channel that builds Tiny Homes from scratch and I think they do a great job and maybe it'll give you an idea to do the same one day, It's called Incredible Tiny Homes and the gentleman's name is Randy Jones. I'm just curious about what you think about his work and if you think someone could build any of the homes he offers themselves by themself on a decent budget. I'm not working with them or asked to endorse them I just respect them and would love to hear your thoughts. And don't feel you have too just because I asked alright lol. I've been thinking of going such a route for the financial freedom and opportunity to travel and I also think you'd like what they do and are about. Anyways sorry for rambling on but thanks again and I'll hopefully speak with you soon good sir, take care always and have fun!. 🙏
He does this all on the floor. That would be so hard. No work table. respect this guy !
Nothing good comes easy!
Build price?
Maybe up to 5k
From watching this video, I can tell it was a challenge to build, but you pulled it off. I can’t wait to see what you do next.
Thanks Chase! It definitely was a challenge. I had never built a camper like that before. Only 2 other open air trailers prior to this. So I at least had practice with the overall frame design and how to do that part which helped.
The biggest mystery when I started was the camper body it self. I plan as much as I can ahead of time but I find that I work best with the method of “I’ll see what to do when I get there” haha
Great build. Looks better than any other factory built trailer. Kudos 👍🏻
Super sweet! I'd like to make a version of this that slides onto an existing brush/yard waste sturdy dump trailer so it could be dual use as a hunting camper!
Awesome music too! 👍
This is amazing... I've been trying to find a minimalist trailer... and this is exactly what I'd love to own...
This is amazing..you did a great job. I'd add that the beeping sounds like ita coming from the remote, if that's the case you can open it up and unsolder the small piezo buzzer in there. I have done this in many remotes that I couldn't turn off. A little tip to bring you some sanity. Thank you for sharing this amazing build. Good luck out there
Thank you!
Good day to you!
I am a grandpa rider on HONDA motorcycle from Japan.
Enjoying camping ,touring and upload video.
Your CAMPING CAR video is so nice!
Awesome!
Full supported !
Have a nice day my friend!
Thank you!! Appreciate you watching!
We use to put a little bit of grease on the trailer mounts and mating surfaces and it would take care of the noises.
Beautiful job.
Things I'd do different. Most of the differences are 4-season base camp related.
* 5x10 body, maybe longer, but still keep the same cross-section. Yeah, you might get stuck on a Kelly hump, but what were you doing dragging a trailer over a Kelly hump?
* Moar insulation.
* Back-wall that's one big door or 2 swinging doors. I like one that opens into an awning. Don't think I'd want air struts. Just an arm that fits into a bracket.
* Woodstove in one of the back corners. Kimberly's are spendy, but 6 inch clearance is all you need and they burn very clean.
* Have an outfitter tent tailored to marry up with the back of the trailer. Something solid, like a good Montana Canvas 10x12 is pretty easy to set up, solo. Have them (or the Amish) make a custom wall made for the square-drop. More time-consuming setup than a batwing awning, but way sturdier. I've been caught out in BAD weather enough times to not trust those batwing awnings. You don't want gear that fails when you need it most.
Random thought from your dirt bike thing:
I think you could fit a 100 cc dirt bike or small atv in a 5x10x4. Not positive about the height, but yeah. I'd be thinking along those lines. You'd have to roll the bike/atv out to camp, but it'd ride better there than on the tongue, if you could pull it off. You'd probably need some sort of simple slider, because there wouldn't be room to ride it in. But I think you could make one of these a mini toy-hauler.
You should post a video. That way your power point comment might sound less condescending…
Good job. Came out looking clean. Liked the way it looked with the TACO pulling it.
That is the fastest building i have ever seen. He was moving faster then my eyes can see. Incredible.
You included EVERYTHING in the description, and I commend you for that, you really care and that’s spec
I try my best to be a thorough as possible! Thank you!!
Such a great build! I wish I had your welding skills.
My only suggestion is to dump that circuit breaker. They're rubbish. They can arc at high current even when the circuit breaker is open, which is very likely if you're using lithium. I've learnt this the hard way. I'd replace with a MEGA or T-Class fuse, depending on your load. If it's just the fan and lighting then even a MIDI fuse would do the trick. Blue Sea is my go-to. If you're using it as an isolation switch then replace it with Blue Sea or equivalent isolator switch.
Thank you! Anyone can learn if they put in the time!
Love this! A bed on wheels. Nothing more, nothing less.
A very good job of putting it together. I bet you had as much fun building it as you do using it.
Impressive build. Very nice, clean and minimalistic. This build looks like it would have additional add-on option capabilities. Lots of headroom for us giraffes out there. I wouldn't be surprised I see a diesel heater in the future for winter camping. Keep the video's coming.
Thanks!!
That's impressive! Never seen that type of axle/spring, very cool!!!
Здорово ! Хорошо когда есть такие РУКИ. Молодец, настоящий Мастер.
The best home build, much better than those plywood one's.
Very nice build. I hope you enjoy the removable tongue jack as much as I do mine. The peace of mind is great. I’m lazy, so I removed the crank handle and had a 3/4” nut welded to the shaft. 18v drill gives me an electric jack. With a home brew trailer, I’d have incorporated two more in the rear corners for stabilizer/tire changing duties. I’m gonna need to add leading edge fender sliders to my Cargo Trailer conversion after ruining a fender, and seeing yours.
That’s a great idea with the jacks! I really debated on adding some screw jacks to the rear but I told myself I’d probably never really unhook it. And the way that the axle was placed we wouldn’t be heavy enough to get it to tip. In hindsight it would have been a smart addition just for leveling it alone! Live and you learn! Good luck on your build!
Love it. Well built. I'd add an ARB (or equivalent) awning to it and solar and use it as my hunting rig.
Good thing your rv has tiers that can handle mud. So they don’t get stuck 😁
best demonstration of milwaukee vacuum i've seen to date 😁
😂😂 I love that thing
From 100s of videos I’ve watched about campers diy this one is the best… here is a beer for you sir 🍺
Thank you Marvin! Humbling to hear!
100% honesty, this is something I’m thinking of doing. Do you think this level of welding is something someone like myself (completely new to welding but knows basic of wood working, already owns a miter saw, and learns on UA-cam) can do at home on his first DIY camper build? I’d be starting with a trailer kit that needs to be welded together, but would be cutting and also welding the frame like you have done here also.
I think that all depends on how quickly you progress with welding! After all this is something that’s going to be traveling down the road so you want it structurally sound! But with some determination and practice you can build welding skills pretty quickly. Nothing replaces trial and error! Start off with some metal projects for the garage like storage shelves, a welding cart, or even some stools. You will learn quickly what works and what doesn’t.
The work you did is amazing young man congrats to you
This is awesome brother. Exactly what I want to build but I’d add a slide out drawer from the side for kitchen etc
Thanks man!!
Man, by watching your clip, you are really skillful, and you do know what u r doing! (Instead of some others doing their DIY project and trying to make some sense of what they are doing in their clips.) Keep up the great work!! Subscribed of course.
Thank you Nick!!
Loves watching this whole build. What a great camper!
excellent, but I do have idea that might work for u u got coat rack by the door but a set of hooks down center of the bed, gives u a lot storage options I've learned. hooks on the roof, awesome build
Im a very impressed with this camper build. Happy camping ❤❤❤
Wow what a fast worker, I must confess it would have taken me least twice as long to build one,
Just for anyone that wants to do this ,a cheaper way is by a vehicle with a reck front end, take off every thing from the front and transmission. Weld/bolt on front frame/hitch to be tow and just gut the interior and add to your liking
This is the coolest camper I’ve ever seen
Thanks man!!
20,000 dollars later. Amazing and a expert craftsman, electrician, welder, engineer, inspector, DMV expert, Artist, mechanic, builder, flooring expert, door installer, camper, architect, math wiz, expert tool user, safety protocol person, AC ventilation expert. Idk much more but you need a lot of skills to do this.
Thank you! Not an expert at any of those things though honestly. I learn as I go and enjoy doing so! Anyone can build one if they apply themselves 👌🏼
Here’s the cost breakdown video
ua-cam.com/video/7AvHOCoIi8M/v-deo.html
FMD, that was both mesmerizing and satisfying. Well done!
Thank you!!
Very nicely done. You could even put a roof rack tent on the top of it for extra people to stay with you!!
Absolutely! I have since made a custom rack. Video on my channel for that!
@@Adv4x4 yeah your tubing structure should support more weight then you’d want to haul.
No doubt! It’s solid. I’ve been all over the roof during the build even before the rack, no bowing or anything.
Good on you bro. I’m bloody impressed! I hope to do the same thing some time when I have the space and know how. I hope the future upgrades go well.
Très belle réalisation, vous avez vraiment fait du bon travail. Bravo !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
🙌🏻🙌🏻
I had a K5 blazer years ago and the owner before me had built a hitch for it and had a nut welded on the bottom, left and right of the receiver hole with a bolt in each nut that would apply pressure against the receiver and keep it from rattling. Of course, this would add a little work any time you wanted to swap out the receivers, but it did eliminate the rattle which is very annoying on long trips and insufficient tongue weight as you mentioned
Thanks for the tip! I think the main source of my rattling is actually from the lock n roll system. But of course sufficient tongue weight eliminates it. With the bike on the front of the camper is when this unit tows the best!
As some have said, adding a solar panel would do wonders for easing some of the electrical needs you might have for longer stays.
Also, as is the build seems to have a considerable high center of gravity and solar panels would make it worse. Adding a few batteries, especially older heavier ones or more expensive newer ones in larger quantity would help a lot in front of the trailer wheel axis.
Understandably it would increase costs but in the long term, slowly adding the items would ease a light wallet.
The time spent on editing and recording is the key
Nice build. I'd add a fresh water tank and outdoor sprayer at the minimum, that way you can wash up and have water access. Without running water, it comes down to just being a tow behind tent, IMO.
Aside from my personal feelings about the purpose of a tow behind, very nice build 🤘
I have a water setup for those things on my truck! As well as a kitchen space etc. So adding those things to this trailer wouldn’t have changed much for me personally.
Also I do not bring this on every trip. There are some places I’m better off leaving this thing at home 😂
But yes I can see how for someone who brings the camper on every single trip How that would benefit them forsure!
I live in bear country, and things like fridges, water, food are all in the truck box and nowhere near the trailer. Nothing is bear-proof, but I will take this over a tent any day of the week.
Wooooow!!! Wow! just wow! I'm excited! There is a lot of love in your work! Respect! I hope you have fun on your adventure tour with your camper! I already gave you a thumbs up! GREAT! :) Greetings from Germany :) TOM
Get a 100ah/200ah deep cycle battery on the Hitch and wire everything from there. Free up the space in the cabin used by that Jackery. Could also put a propane and water tank on the hitch.
Build a lockable "extension" box on the rear to hold a table with stove for outdoor cooking.
We spend an hour after arriving at site just to Setup camp! Wirh this we will setup in 5 minutes after arrival!
This video needs way more exposure than it has well done 👏
Thank you Jonah!!🙌🏻
Nice. Side shade and fold out kitchen would be a fine addition.
Molto molto molto bello, anzi fantastico. Complimenti per la fantasia è la manualità di costruzione. Bravissimo
I could do this…if I just had the time, money, supplies, materials, garage, blueprints, and know how.
In all seriousness this is awesome.
you put quite a bit of work into this and it's well worth it. You will end up adding many more stuff to the trailer, hope to see that in an other video
Thank you! Uploaded the roof rack video yesterday 👌🏼
Awesome work! Very talented, great to see such a hard working craftsmen!
Great ground clearance coming down the trail. Bueatiful interior!
Enjoy your camping time! God bless!
Thank you Frank!!
Cool, you could shorten the trailer neck a bit for tighter wheeling. Respect, that was a ton of work.
Of course! Actually with the way I have the tongue setup i can shorten it up to 15” just by switching out the trailer side hitch 👌🏼
But to be honest I don’t plan for this to see any crazy wheeling. On wheeling trips I prefer my ground tent. This is more for events or other sight seeing trips not involving hard trails.
Just found your channel, Its awesome you have the skillset and materials to complete this objective. I can do plenty of things but this project solo is way of my head. Peace.
Thank you!! Appreciate you watching.
I have never wanted to build something so badly, great job!
You can do it man!!🤘🏼
Damn dude that thing looks awesome! Aesthetic as hell!
Thanks man!!
Mengagumkan. Salam dari West Java Indonesia..
Suatu masa kubuat juga
Can you build one where the whole outside walls (except for the front) slide out on the back side, which would create double the space, and the remaining part could be an inside wall with hinges that allow it to swing up 90 degrees to create room for standing and also a larger door.
Anything is possible if you are willing to put in the work! I was going for something simple 👌🏼
Super cool and CLEAN build! I like your Taco too! Hope to see you out there 🤙🏻
Thanks Aaron!!
Great job, very cool. Did you have to register you trailer and get a plate, are you worried about being pulled over and fined?
Gotta give the man props for starting from scratch ! 🙌
Thank you!!
Try a hitch brace. HarborFreight sells them. It wedges the hitch to the truck and doesn’t allow the 2 pieces to move separately
Ill look into it thanks!
매일 악당만 처치하는줄 알았더니 본업이 있었군요 잘봤습니다 플래쉬~~!
NICE CAMPER AND NICE TACO! KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!
Thanks Randy!
We need more guys like this.
I’m 74. Most schools stopped teaching welding decades ago. Most young people don’t even know what hand tools are or how to use them. My grandsons are early twenties and this would be a professional skill job to them. I learned welding, metal fabrication, machining, wood working, drafting and more in four years of high school. Schools stopped teaching that stuff as unnecessary. But they still have basketball, football, wrestling and other courses that are unnecessary to living in the real world.
You have a very skewed perception of the younger generations. Also sports programs are a huge benefit to kids for exercise and socialization. Typical boomer
@@justd3fyWhere would you be without the Boomers setting up everything for you as you grew up .
That was awesome bro. you are master of this trade. With love from Bangalore, India.
That is one of the cleanest and best looking micro campers i have seen! What is the weight of the camper?
Thank you Jimmy! Haven’t weighed it but somewhere under 1000lbs!
This is a great build and has shown me with that much work involved, I might buy one instead 😂. Seriously though, as I’m from the UK, if I had a truck that big, I probably would have just thrown an airbed in the back. It looks huge.
Great build though👍🏻
This is a nice build. My only question is how did you go about getting the registration and license plate for a self build?
Depending on that state they give you a vin plate
I’m here from Facebook group diy trailers. Nice video!
Thanks man!!
