It’s amazing how many of these videos make it seem overly complicated. Your drawing with the dimensions is one of the more helpful plans I’ve ever seen and yet so simple. Thank you!
Home Depo is paradise although half the people who work at my Home depo have No clue where things are and what those things do. Thank goodness I learned from my Grandfather and one of my uncle’s. I have a 2003 crv and she’s the best car I’ve ever had. Love my adventure wheels.
A great video of your project! So simple but very functional for what you need. Well done and don't ever be afraid to 'have a go', you do have some exceptional skills. Thanks for sharing and I needed some motivation to finish a job on an old pickup. A slightly bigger area but I have stolen your sketch plan which was perfect! Cheers from Australia
Love seeing more Hondas being turned into small campers. My wife and I have a very simple platform over the seats in our Honda Element when we stealth camp 😁 #teamhonda
Absolutely brilliant! I need to leave my back seat in and I've been looking for something that I can keep in my SUV and still use the back seat when I'm not traveling so I love how you used the drop pins to make it. You have no idea how many videos I've watched trying to get this exact set up! Thank you SO much for sharing this with us 😊
Gotta give ya huge props for doing a great job on everything, especially for your first time! Keep up the creative work and look forward to more vids to get some more people motivated to try this on their own! Subscribed and liked!
I just bought a new CRV and about to start a one year break from work. Thanks for the inspirational video. No doubt you will go far. New subby and 👍🏼#385
Home of the Dads😂 I think you did an excellent job! Always I wonder how people access under-the-bed storage space without going out (during bad weather or bugs, stealth, etc)
I think I have the same year CRV. I did a very similar build for stealth camping on a road trip. I felt it was too cramped with vertical space. Next time I think I'm removing the back seats and focus on getting the sleeping platform as low as possible.
That is very similar to what I did in my 2016 CRV. I used the same video you did to start with. I built mine with more support legs since I am 6'1" and 300 pounds. I wish I had seen this video before I built mine as you did a couple of things differently that are better than the way I did it. I can't wait to see your other videos!
So glad that I landed on your vlog and instantly subscribed. I am guessing that you are an Engineer in the way how you planned, documented and costed the assembly. Fine work and congratulations. Been watching several videos in my quest to convert my 2014 CRV. I rank you a #1 for the simplicity of design, fast, easy to Camperise (my own word!) and restore to original vehicle. With any conversion, the ability to access the spare tire, and little extra space in the well (though a rarity..) was a concern with the CRV. This design should allow you to lift the entire back platform up by removing the locator pin, and may be propping it up with taller wooden legs temporarily held by locator pins and get access to the spare tire. Other option I would prefer would be that the 2 back legs near the trunk door side could be hinged so they can fold flush with the under side of the platform to easily access the spare tire without disturbing / moving the back platform. To restore the legs, un-hinge the legs to upright position and use a locator pin to prevent it from folding and stay upright. Since access to spare tire is important, I wouldn't build any shelves on the underside, and limit the space underneath to removable plastic storage tubs or such. This is the first video of yours I have watched so far, and will be binge watching the rest of your series. Also whenever you visit any campsites would you please provide some details of that site with regard to the location, name, amenities, cost , safety etc which would be very helpful. Once again Kudos for a great Job!
The best video I’ve seen that walks you through and explains everything so good on how to do this. You can make some good money building these for people
First off, congrats to Rose for doing everything by herself with no previous experience. However, to anyone interested in making a bed platform for a Honda CRV, watch the video from Matt the Designer with the title "1 Sheet of Plywood Collapsible Platform" It is a similar design to this but in a much more refined, better-engineered version, more practical, and more functional as it also includes a slide out table. It costs the same and even though it looks more complicated, it isn't as he lists all the cuts you have to make and then assemble it.
Nice build! You are very entertaining. The determination in your face is very descriptive. btw your "drop pins" are carriage bolts. When I have suppliers cut materials, generally aluminum I will ask "I need an accurate cut" I've had good luck. My tolerance is generally 1/4" (+/- 1/8") which is sloppy. Your 1" (+/- 1/2") is a lot, but wood is pretty forgiving. Please have save Journeys and Wonderful Adventures!
Thank you for the nice tips on making my car into a camper! I was wondering what is the rest foundation of the front of the second plate? Doesn't it have legs? Secondly, won't the small plate in front tilt downwards without suspension or legs? Thanks again!
Eric Enjoys Earth has a five ppanel version. The front and back panels both slide back to make sofa style seats. The two panels involved are joined by hinges. The fifth panel is narrow and used to hold the panels down. His design requires a frame for the panels to move around on. I think Eric and you use heavier timber than needed. Go back to Home Depot and find some actual bed legs. They are much skinnier than yours. I intend to adapt Eric's idea and make torsion box panels, perhaps 40mm thick. I'm undecided between 3mm and 6/7mm ply. It should be a lot stronger but lighter than your design.. Weight costs fuel. I have used an interior doom as a bed, it works well but can't be folded. Those are torsion boxes, 2040mm long.
They are pushed as far forward as possible! So you could put things on them but couldn't sit in them. If you fold the piece of wood attached to the piano hinge back, you could sit in the front seat.
Thank you. This was helpful but I wish it had been shorter. Also, I really wish you had said what year SUV this is? I'm looking for an adoption for a 2014 SUV and I never heard you say what year your car is. (But I did rush through the video because it was long.)😁

Dudes just looking for an excuse to be a misogynist because a woman put a awesome bed platform together lol awesome CRV build looking to do one similar for me and my girl this spring
You were “scared?” At HD? Did you know they have ppl who work there who are extremely knowledgeable in their respective departments who can help you and who will even make all the cuts you need to your wood?

awesome job. its not a drop pin, its just a long screw. people that are going to use this. buy 3/8 dia. , 3" long screws

Thanks for the vid Rose! Fellow CRV dreamer here, gonna use this vid for my inspo 😄
Seems this will be my next vanlifer favorite. New sub. 😊😊
She's a warm female soul trying out things. Really cool.
Thank you Rose :)
I have a honda crv. I sleep on dog beds. That way i can still sit up back there. Works out great!
That’s a great idea
Good work! I like your idea of the drop pins. That's been my concern, breaking it down easily when I want to use the back seats.
This is the most helpful Rav4 build video by a large margin. Thank you!

Good to know!
Nice job.
Super helpful! Thank you for walking through all the details!
such a great walkthrough thank you!!
You did freakin amazing
Great job!
Very smart
Good job! I’m inspired!
What an ingenious idea expresses so lucidly...without even damaging or altering your interior. May o know which year your crv is
Very cool.
Just Curious, how tall are you?
I don’t see a link for the video referenced in the beginning…

I live in my Honda HRV 2022 thinking about turning it in for a van,... I need a sink, shower and bathroom
What sized drill bit did you use to drill the holes? Thank you!
Dog is helping?😊
Home Depot cuts are never really straight… I’d rather do so myself. Lol but kudos for adding the extra inch 👏👏👏

What year is your CR-V? I'm looking to do something identical with mine, and this was an amazing video.
2015
Are the front seats unusable when the bed platform is set up?

@@RoseCatherine Thank you! This is super helpful…nice to see a version for newer CRV; mine is 2016.

What year is your crv? Mine is 2013 and the seat is not as flat as yours
I believe it was a 2019!
Mine is 2014. when the back seat is folded it wont be flat / parallel to the ground. there will be a slight tilt / slope. It is the best you can get.
6:31 not that it matters but your level is upside down…. easier to see if it’s not upside down.
You know what scary me in Home Depot??... The high prices on every single item there, specially the lumber....It's krazy...!!!!
The Land of the Dad? 😐😆😂😂☝️☝️☝️🤣🤣🤣I sub. You're funny 😁
If we're NOT new here, is your name still Rose?
A frontal impact will send all that timber flying forward, and you should be able to imagine what effect that will have.

Right except for that fact that the back seat is blocking the boards while she's driving u f**king donut 🍩. Dont hate cuz u ain't.
When she drives, the back seats will be up and the wood behind...
Too much side talk
Exactly
Less talking. More doing.

and a Gentleman too.
