I bet I have listened to this 20 times....Rob does such a great job on the Dobro...Derrick's vocals are perfect........then Chelsey Parker adds her fiddle.....WOW....PERFECT !!....Thanks very much...............many blessings to LLB....and the saga continues !!
WOW!!! Another Great LLB Performance! ...... again demonstrating such Pleasing Versatility!!!! Love to See & Hear the accordian, violin and flat-slide-guitar play such soulful, essential roles towards creating a 'unique' "cover"!!!!!!!!!!! Many Thanks
This was my Dads favorite JT song. He used to sing to us in the car. It's about a creek on the edge of Chapel Hill near the Taylor home. I was fortunate enough to be at UNC THEN and heard James and Livingston a lot. Thank you for doing this and bring a tear and a happy memory. BW3
All I can say is WOW..... I am just amazed with The Lexington Lab Band. I don't believe, there is anything, they can't recreate. James Taylor would be in awe, to hear this piece of musical excellence being performed! I can't wait to hear LLB's next song. Please keep them coming! Thank you ❤
My dad is nearly 78, and has been a James Taylor fan for over 50 years. Any song in JT's catalogue will forever be ingrained in my mind as a reminder of my dad - because he listened to all of them. Thank you for this one, guys - it hits me right where I live. Superb musicianship as always.
I’m a huge James Taylor fan and you guys killed this. He had Jerry Douglas on dobro, Mark O’Connor on fiddle and the rest of his great band playing on this track and you guys absolutely nailed it. Amazing job as always. Feel free to drop more JT anytime!
This is a simply beautiful interpretation that honors James Taylor, the song and the original musicians. A simple song and I mean that in the most powerful way. Exceptional.
Thanks for bringing a tear to my eye. Memories from my youth, beautifully brought to the forefront of my mind. You folks are always amazing. What a precious performance. 😢❤
Was wondering who would be singing this. Surpised me to see it was Derrick at first, but he nailed it! This is just a gorgeous offering from all of you! Thanks for all you do for us!
That was some fine fiddle work by Chelsey, sublime bass by Jim and awesome vocals by Derrick. Everyone did great on this song, but those three just stood out to me on this one.
A month or so ago, my wife and I saw JT perform this song at Riverbend in Cincinnati. I close my eyes and I’m back there. I am speechless. I have officially seen everything!!
This is just SO good and faithful to the original! I have seen JT numerous times live and I am such a fan of him and the musicians on the original, Mark O'Connor, Jimmy Johnson, Jerry Douglas, etc. This literally choked me up. Well done everyone - especially Derrick! Thanks!
This is the first time I have heard Derrick Breaux sing solo. He has a strong, clear, voice. A baritone. A pleasing and enjoyable performance by everyone. 😁🙌
Great job Derrick! James is one of my favorites I’ve followed him from the beginning. My Mom loved this song. It was her favorite of his. Thank you. We are blessed by all of you and your talent.
What an extraordinary mix. I beg your pardon if I call this out wrong, but here goes. Accents of dobro, fiddle to counterpoint the vocal breaks, stomach steinway for the subtle sustaining undertone, and an uncanny vocal rendition. This is classical music of a deep-seated American breed. It is every bit as complex and beautifully balanced as any chamber piece written by Mozart or Haydn. We will never know firsthand the sound of Mozart in his time. The sheer fabric of those instruments is lost to the centuries, and the hands that played them to the grave. But we can enjoy this in our time, and still not quite grasp the fullness of our great good fortune.
Oh that was great. Performed in the style of James' live album, I've sung along while listening to it for decades... and I was singing along with you on this performance too. Next James Taylor song? Shower The People
Team LLB nailed it as always! Thank You for sharing your gifts of music with us all! Thank You for this one especially as a NC native, much appreciated!
I just recently watched this for the first time. It had a long time since I’d heard it. It means a lot to me. Didn’t take long for the memories to bring the tears. Thanks ever so much.
The many faces of LLB talent upon talent craftsmanship above all else guys I don't even care for James Taylor and he's a home boy and that was a wonderful job nuff said
How on earth did I miss this? So well done. Great song choice too. As an acoustic guitar player...JT is one of my favorites to play and listen to! Blessings, Chris
I don't know who decides who does what part, but it is always incredibly true to the original artist, and it just blows me away. Thank you for existing, Lexington Lab Band!
I grew up in Durham, right next door to where James Taylor grew up, Chapel Hill, NC (albeit some years earlier). "Copperline" is written about the Morgan Creek area where he lived as a child, while his father (an MD and Professor at UNC-Chapel Hill Medical School) taught there. You all really nailed this song. Thanks so much for sharing. I always enjoy Jame Taylors' songs... Reminds me of home.
What a great tribute to all the artists covered by LLB! No embellishments, no showboating, just the humility of recognizing the artistry that is there in the composition and getting out of the way. Bravo to the context, musicianship, and the work that goes into such a tribute.
Outstanding. I appreciate hearing pieces that I have never heard before. Derrick sounds like James here. I have fond memories of my first adult road trip as the driver listening to a James Taylor tape over and over. It never got old.
I've played and replayed LLB videos countless times since I discovered them a few months ago, but I've already replayed this one more than any other. Listening to it transports me back in time to when I lived in NC, walking through 9th St. in Durham, Franklin St. in Chapel Hill or through the kudzu in the back woods outside the little town where I grew up. It's a beautiful rendition of Copperline. You've done James Taylor justice.
I love these old story telling songs from Harry Chapin's Taxi to Billy Joel's Piano Man and Steve Earle's Copperhead Road and the many, many in between. LLB had a great performance with one!! That was a perfect arraignment Mike, and it gave props to that song. You all are the best!!!
I bet I have listened to this 20 times....Rob does such a great job on the Dobro...Derrick's vocals are perfect........then Chelsey Parker adds her fiddle.....WOW....PERFECT !!....Thanks very much...............many blessings to LLB....and the saga continues !!
One of my great pleasures is getting notified of a new Lexington Lab rendition. Another sublime performance.
Ditto !
Me too.
Same !
Yup!
I could not agree more ❤
WOW!!! Another Great LLB Performance! ...... again demonstrating such Pleasing Versatility!!!! Love to See & Hear the accordian, violin and flat-slide-guitar play such soulful, essential roles towards creating a 'unique' "cover"!!!!!!!!!!! Many Thanks
The voice spot on !😊
I may be predisposed to love the LLB, but the performance on this song is stellar…well done. The singing, the instruments. Just great music.
One of JT's finest songs performed in a suitably respectful manner. You guys know how to do mellow. Once again, LLB does not disappoint.

Best rendition of this song I've ever heard. Awesome job.
I've always wondered if artists stand back n look at each other n think " holy shit, did we just do that? That's awesome" . Beautiful accomplishment.
Pretty often…
They absolutely do.
I'd be shocked if they didn't, but there are a gazillion grateful listeners out here that ARE saying that. Ok, now do Wooly Bully 😂😂😂
