I love this group, so cool to them them singing some of the great older songs, and introducing me to songs I may have never listened to on my own. I was watching this and my brother was in the room and asked if that was Orleans I was watching. I just chuckled and told him no it's Foxes & Fossils. That has to be the best compliment a band can have when someone just heard it and thinks it's the original artist. We are both in our early 60's so we instantly recognize music from that era. Great job guys fantastic cover

I was thinking the exact same thing. Brought me back to the 70s and an eight grade dance. Best of times.
Some day the members of Foxes & Fossils will look back on their lives and realize being part of this incredible team was the finest thing they ever did.
The reason they started recording again 2 years after they 'folded'. Last live gig to date was July 2017.
And I sincerely hope also realize just how much enormous pleasure they given to millions of people.

@@robstrickland166 Actually Tim Purcell was the one who raised the kids and took care of the house. His wife is a successful attorney and was the Vice President of a major corporation. One of their daughters is also a successful attorney and the daughter who sings in the band has a masters degree. It is doubtful that anybody in the Purcell family would view washing dishes, vacuuming and mowing the lawn as a disgraceful way to conduct their lives.
Stuck in nursing home for my rest life, I weep. Thank you for the memories .

Hi John. I sold you a pair of Earth Shoes in Cambridge in 1973. :) Big fan of your band. My absolute favorite funky guitar lick of yours was in that little song about Nixon selling us used cars from the WHite House, etc. Can't find that song anywhere to hear it again (the fabulous lick, not so much the politics of that era :) ). Have you taken it down because it's no longer topical or for other reasons....? Thanks.

I can't think of any other band as tight, melodic and as harmoniously unified as you folks. It's like the Andrews Sisters and the Everly Brothers had quintuplets!

As a cover wouldn’t it simply be a standard rate, mandatory, mechanical license? Or does streaming complicate things?
I have been in an Orleans kick recently have have been listening to this song daily. Made my day to see this from my favorite cover band! Awesome!
The song was always wholly superior (one of the greatest ever recorded) and these guys just take it apart and re-assemble the whole arrangement note for note... I'm in total awe and it brings such a smile to light up my day.

So one more thing...now that I have put the headphones on and listened to it 4 times, Chase...when you do the little solo part it was dead on the money...gave me goose bumps, no kidding.

Haven't heard any info on finally doing a live show. With the loss of Scott and Sammie and Chase back living in Atlanta ,Maggie is the only one who would have to travel. Rick Meeder lives in Atlanta and has told Tim that he would play bass for a live show. But he also plays with another band that travels some and Johnny plays for several bands in Atlanta so plenty of work to fit everyone's schedules.
@@lynwessel2471 When youtube finally led me to their early performances, they weren't playing anymore. I couldn't believe that I'd never seen or heard of them in ATL. Of course, now that they're producing these masterpieces, I sooo want to see them. I've gotten my family members hooked too. Especially one of my brothers.

Took some people prodding a little to finally get them to do Patreon .Maggie oversees that and was so surprised how many people signed up . I told her sooner or later you people will comprehend just how much you're loved!
All were great as usual but I thought Tim’s vocals were particularly wonderful on this. Love his vocals on anything I’ve heard him on.

I'm sure I've commented before on this performance, but again... I'm 66 and your rendition of Dance with Me is maybe even better than the original. The guitarists, drummer, base player, keyboards, everything including the vocals are beyond excellent. Keep it up you guys!

I'm a rocker from the 60's and play a little guitar, my father was a drummer, so I have been around music all my life. From big band to rock, I feel I know when someone is a great musician . Weather guitar, piano, drums, bass all of you just nail it. With out a doubt ,the best cover band ever.... No matter what song ,the harmonies and the quality of the music is incredible. Just wish you would go on tour...

I agree with everyone else's superlatives. Let me add that the melodica is sometimes assumed to be a "toy instrument". This recording shows how it can be used for a lovely blues-style solo.

Chase has this special gift of making her voice sound just like the original person who sang each song they do. That isn't easy, but she does it. I swear sometimes if I close my eyes, she sounds just like the original!!

My new favorite
This song release certainly has a kind of God's timing in my life. Recently lost a good friend and dear sister in Christ who was the founder and inspirational leader of our local breast cancer support group... I had one particularly fond memory of first really getting close to Lori-- she was dancing with her father hat a mutual friend's wedding reception. Immediately upon my leaving the hospice house from where Lori's body had just been received by the funeral home, this very song began playing on the car radio, the first note coinciding exactly with my turning of the key. For whatever reason, the Lord even put it on my heart to mention this song and her dance with her daddy in the eulogy that was my part of officiating her service. Hmmmm .... Lovely choice Foxes and Fossils... God Bless all y'all ✝️💞🛐

I'm singing with an over-55 group, and this song is a truncated part of a "Yacht Rock" medley that we're going to perform. The four part arrangement does not approach doing justice to the F&F cover of this song. I was not a big fan of this song when it was released over 4 decades ago - until I heard this version. The four part arrangement can't touch the passion and the the power of the F&Fs vocals. Not even close!
