Hi everyone! Much like my last ranking, this was a group I do not personally did not stan before the video but you InSomnias have convinced me! DC is a group that I've been watching from a distance since their "MINX" days. I've always kept up with their title tracks but "Raid of Dream", "Dystopia: Tree of Language" and the really nice and chill InSomnias I have meet has won me over! 💙 Thank you!

@@wonluv5361 more like the "overpriced" phone. So many free apps on android are paid on apple. Also the app store is so limiting that there's barely any good games. Have you noticed that apps on the app store uses more storage than apps from google play? Sure, "rich" people don't have to worry about these things because they can just buy/upgrade, but poorer people can't. We can only turn to android, a cheaper, (sometimes) higher quality, and "free-er" substitute of ios.

honestly, I really agree when you say that dami and yoohyeon are interchangeable. they’re very close in skill, they have different strengths and weaknesses, so by putting priority of different things, you could end up with one above the other or vice versa.

SuA always blows me away with her choreography. Red Sun was phenomenal.
One thing I noticed watching your videos was that while other channels are technical and others just make non-sense rankings, you talk in a way that even those who don't dance can understand, and maybe even take an interest in the subject. It's your trademark. And the typos, of course.
Thank you! I try my best to use layman's terms, however, there are many amazing dance related kpop -fan UA-camrs with far less typos than me haha 😅💙
This is the only channel where I can dully understand what are they talking about without having any knowledge in dancing whatsoever
I genuinely feel Yoohyeon should be added to the dance line. Yea she does rush sometimes and her chest area is a bit stiff but her extensions just feel amazing. Siyeon has improved a LOT from early days. I think Gahyeon's tight space buns in Boca actually highlighted her stiffness. Handong is just too graceful and sometimes I feel like it hinders moves that need more of an impact. Jiu has such beautiful extensions and SuA is a queen idc. Dami is really aggressive in her rap verses, I love her in the believer cover.
Anyway I saw a chance to gush and I took it. Sorry about that and great video!

Finally a ranking I agree with. It's definitely on point since you're also observing them even when they aren't center. JiU especially when I watch her fancams is always expressive even when she's off center or in the back. Check out her snarls and intense facial expressions during a dance break. It's super amazing to witness. Then in between she gives us little smiles and goofs off when she goes to the side. She's such a great performer and she definitely makes watching her a treat.
I agree with the rankings. No one can top SuA. And after watching Taki Taki I definitely believe Yoohyeon should be promoted to lead dancer with JiU and Dami. I feel like they have been focusing so much on Dami’s raps that they haven’t been letting her progress her dancing. Which makes sense for the 3 and 4 spots being interchangeable between her and Yoohyeon.
@Thyxs 123 I think its difficult to make that distinction. They both specialize in separate dancing fields. Lisa is more free-style popping type dancing and SuA is more smooth sensual dancing with a sharp edge. They each have different things they focus on. SuA is focusing more on Choreography and singing while Lisa is Rap and Free-styling. They also both have completely different body structures and personalities which contributes to their dance styles. But if you are trying to compare them in free style I would probably say Lisa just because she has a stronger background in dancing then SuA but SuA would beat out Lisa in sensual dancing.
But honestly is not something you can really compare. They dont dance the same or even use the same genres.
AH! I know......comparing Taki Taki! looking at those two videos again. Lisa has more control of her body but SuA knows what to do with her body. So their styles are too different to really state if one of them are better then the other. You could I guess but I wouldnt.

Well it's possible to have someone just have the position of "dancer" instead of main or lead. The same works for vocalists and rappers so why not.
Yoohyeon not officially being in the dance line is the single most absurd non-position in K-pop. Girl is better than most groups' lead dancers, she deserves the title on paper.
Actually dance line wasn't confirmed I think? Besides SuA because she's on another level, so I wouldn't know, but JiU, Yoohyeon and Dami deserve to be lead dancers

Siyeon's facial expressions came to a peak during SCREAM era. It also depended on her outfit on the day of the performance, showing versatility.
The ones that catch my eyes while dancing are Yoohyeon and Siyeon. Idk, their dancing is so expressive to me.
I do have to say. My bias is Dami but I can’t help but laugh when she has that blank face and then she goes “oh it’s my go” - it’s so Dami but it’s great.
I do have to agree on the ranking as a dancer though.

I think this is accurate to how I would rank them really. I also think their best top 3 are what you have. Siyeon is such a good a dancer for a main vocal and that's something.
I pretty much called every single one of your rankings lol Like you said, even with Gahyeon being the "weakest" dancer in Dreamcatcher, she's still really good and they just get better from there. I think some of Dongie's weaknesses stem from her having classical operatic training and probably some classical Chinese dance training which is a little more fluid than Dreamcatcher's normal hard hitting style (see: Deja Vu with her spins). Definitely agree that Yoohyeon and Dami are interchangable, but Yoohyeon deserves a little shoutout for how much she's improved since her earlier days - she's definitely not as stiff as she used to be, but I also think what you're noticing about her stiffness in the chest area is from her vocal-heavy parts where she needs to keep that area open, but that could just be me looking at this from a non-dancer perspective.
@Thyxs 123 it's actually her improvement from the Minx days (that's how she first got the tree nickname) - she was improving by Chase Me but check out those old Minx performances and be amazed at her now!
Despite not being first I've always favoured Jiu's style of dancing, she always adds her own flavour to their choreographies (as I've noticed from learning them myself and always watching her lol) and she always looks like she genuinely enjoys dancing and performing, sometimes being randomly smiley at times even with their dark concepts lol
for what it's worth, as far as i'm aware dreamcatcher has never officially released dance line positions - they're fan-assigned! so when it comes to yoohyeon, she probably just wasn't 'given' the lead dancer title back during debut era because it's unusual for more than half of a group to be in the dance line. somewhat similar to the reasons why sana and jihyo don't have dance line positions in twice, i guess.
These are actually mostly official positions, the only difference is that Jiu is not a lead dancer officially (Sua's also still a lead rapper technically lol). You can see their positions at their JP website.
@@pearlofivris that website really just backs up what i'm saying, since the only one with a dance position listed is sua! which makes sense given she's the main dancer :) leads me to think that they wanted to emphasize the overall group's dance abilities rather than decide which other 2 were the "best".
I agree with Dami and Yoohyeon's position. Not saying that Dami shouldn't be the lead dancer with this, but Yoohyeon should've also been a lead dancer.
not going to dispute the ranking but imo siyeon has the best facial expression in the group. no matter the performance, there's always a point where her facial expression stands out.

I think your ranking is spot on. Sua is THE queen and she fully deserves her title as a main dancer, but the one who's been impressing me the most is Jiu, how can she be the leader, visual, lead dancer and lead singer? all rounder goddess man! My bias is Dami as well, and what I've noticed the most is that she's not that versalite and tends to be most focused on power while not being as clean, that's just my opinion. Nonetheless!!!! All of them are incredible dancers, I really admire their hard work to get at the level they are now
I agree with Yoohyeon and Dami being about the same. I’m excited to see them in a few years honestly. JiU and SuA have a lot more experience so it’s expected for their to be a gap in ability between them. They all get better every comeback

Dami has really improved over the past 1.5 years, and imo she's pulled a bit ahead of Yooh. KCON:TACT (especially My House) and Baby Don't Stop really highlight how hard she's worked, how clean her dancing is, and how much she's improved her facial expressions. Yooh really stood out in Odd Eye because the choreography suited her perfectly, which even the other members acknowledged, but I think execution-wise Dami has been phenomenal lately.
DC has such a great dance lineup. I also think Gahyeon, Siyeon, Handong, and even Yoohyeon deserve a lot of credit for continuing to improve so much over the past 3 years (almost 4 now! 🙀). Gahyeon especially is night and day compared to when they debuted with Chase Me.

dreamcatchers choreo is no joke. somebody did a comparison of other girl groups and concluded that dc was averagely harder than gfriend, rv, twice, etc. the hardest choreo is scream on top of that and the girl who did the comparison tore her pants trying to learn the choreo. in conclusion if your own choreo is that hard youre definitely not an average dancer. and tbh if we're talking outside of techniques its never boring to watch anybody. if they suck by technique theyre still enjoyable to watch and thats why i stan.

YASSSS JIU IS MAIN DANCER MATERIAL!! when the first time i discovered dreamcatcher, jiu caught my attention first ( i started to know them since good night) her dancing skill is so satisfying to watch just like Sua (YASSSS 1994 QUEEN)

My bias is Gahyeon, so I'm not hating on her when I say that she's SO MUCH BETTER now then when she debuted. She is more confident and developed skills. She had so little time as a trainee that she needed to learn everything as Dreamcatcher was going. So, yeah, I think she is the only one that couldn't get a position in a dance line outside of DC, but it doesn't take away that she is improving and doing so much better now, especially with these over the top dances that DC has.
sua really is a phenomenal choreographer. red sun is still one of my favorite kpop choreographies EVER and to think that she choreographed it is astonishing.

Dreamcatcher is really REALLY good, and crazy hard to actually critique because of their individual skill. They’ve been growing as a unit since debut, and every member is only as good as their best member it seems. They work crazy hard especially on stage.
This video would be nearly impossible realistically... and thats completely objective.
Dreamcatcher arent 4th gen idols doe,the debuted in 2017 they are between 3rd gen and 4th but honestly more 3rd gen since the debut was in January

Honestly, Yoohyeon deserves Main Vocalist, Lead Dancer and probably Center position lol.
She was already center from debut to You and I era (unofficially but it was obvious because of her role in the story / the choreo). I think starting from there, it's been a rotation between members on who gets the spotlight.
sorry but Siyeon has THAT MAIN VOCAL material our puppy can be main vocal in any other groups but Siyeon is superior at this point

I'm always worried when I see a Dreamcatcher ranking video (but I can't help watching), because they are ults in Kpop, but I completely agreed with your ranking! Down to the fact that 5-7 is almost splitting hairs, but I would have split those hairs exactly the same way 😂 And I agree that 3-4 are interchangeable and while Dami is officially in the dance line, I think Yoohyeon's technique is almost on the same level but her stage presence gives her an edge.
In any case, I think everyone can agree with #1! 👑
I'd be curious to see an update on this video after their next comeback. I think Yoohyeon's unique figure and beautiful lines make her an incredibly appealing dancer to watch, but with Maison-with choreography that doesn't suit her personal style-she struggles to adapt (e.g., over-exaggerating movements that should be minimal, making the overall effect less clean than would be desirable), while Dami is the only member who doesn't leave the stage for the duration of the song but manages to retain consistent execution.
They have all really improved in the past two years! The quick movements in Vision are all almost perfectly together. I also like watching their dance practice videos because you can hear that their step movements are in perfect unison 😊
I love how you put in the opportunity to skip disclaimers! I am also absolutely in love with seeing dancers' insights into kpop groups. I feel like I can take some pointers from these observations and also learn to analyse my own dancing.
I hadn't ever really thought about how they would rank in terms of dance but I actually have been noticing Yoohyeon's dancing a lot more lately, I just can't stop following her with my eyes, so I'm not surprised that you put her 3rd.

I agree with this ranking and yet I disagree with people saying Yoohyeon should be in the dance line, if only bc I don't want her to pass out from trying to go all out while dancing and belting them high notes at the same time. I'm sure she could handle if needed but she shouldn't be expected to, not when Dami is right there with about the same dancing ability and less lines while Yoo usually has more and higher (more demanding of her lungs) lines, like it's a no brainer who the lead dancer should be. If you don't get what I mean please get on a threadmill and try to hit a high note after 2 minutes of running lol
When I first saw Dreamcatcher I actually thought that Yoohyeon is in a dance line. She actually wowed me enough and that's why she caught my attention the most.

Some of your dance ranking helps me memorize the members of a specific group (especially SKZ & DreamCatcher).
A year ago I actually would have placed Handong 7th place. But I feel like she improved sooo so much from her time with youth with you! Her expressions got a lot better and her dance became more powerful and clean 😍 but she was of course always a good dancer as Dreamcatcher choreos are not that easy! I am so proud of our Dongi 🥺

I completely agree on Handong, positioning her a bit higher than Siyeon and your statement of her expressions. She would probably have far more eye-catching moments if she had some expression on stage (ambush from all sides 2 comes to mind ;0;) Same for Dami but overall I think Handong really needs to work her expressions D;

I thought i was weird for thinking sua is the best dancer " everyone is already great tho" but sua damn that girl is on a whole new level i literally can't take my eyes off her
I think Siyeon should be higher and that her consistency is not underdeveloped at all 😆 at least in recent comebacks, she seems agile enough, has good stamina and, as you said, does good "micro-movements", that even Main Dancers of other groups aren't particularly paying attention to. I know that, in part, I might say this because she's my bias, but I always try to not be too biased when it comes to my opinion and ranking of their talents. It's just that, whenever I'm looking at their dance practices, for example, she seems to be quite on par with Dami to me and maybe even scratches on Yoohyeon's door. But that's just my opinion, maybe I just have a different taste (and view).

Maybe Siyeon is at the lower rank when it comes to dancing but she's still great. I really like her dancing but I agree she tends to rush some choreographies, it's when she panicks to keep up with the others great dancing. I can see that she's really pressured by the members capabilities to dance so good. But at least she's trying and continue to improve herself eventho she's a main vocal and should just focus on singing instead.

I really agree your ranking list..at 1st Siyeon it's a good dance..they are goddess and fierce with facial expressions..but Siyeon lack of a bit footwork, agility and skill movement..yeah Siyeon make me impress on Scream and Endless Night dance but I seen her real capabilities on Boca era

A somewhat related (kpop dance) question, I've noticed in many of your SM group videos you've used a term "SM style" dancer when describing a lot of their idols, which presumably comes from similar training within the company. I was wondering if you've noticed a similar trend in other companies, JYP, YG, Cube, etc when it comes to their dancers. If so, how would you compare them, or is SM kind of unique in that sense?
in addition for dami, when seeing their performance videos, i often notice dami getting a bit earlier compared to the rest of the members in a specific move which makes me notice her in any part of the performances when she's not in the center. either way,, all of them are spectacular dancers and i loooooove all of themm
