      Before you go buy a set make sure it is the right scale for you. I now also have a huge Carrera track with many premium 1/32 Cars

    Very informative. From my own observations & experience, agree with your views on AFX, Tyco & AutoWorld. I do have several AutoWorld cars, but on race day, they don't see the track! Only began buying some Tyco within the past year or so & have been pleasantly surprised & pleased with their quality, liveries & performance.

      440x2 is easily the best ever made chassis. They will run forever and if you look at the bottom it's all copper where the Xtraction chassis by AutoWorld is metal.

    Would have to agree about TYCO , I was fortunate enough to be given a Tyco Lambrougini Championship set back in the 90's just recently set it up ... I purchased some thunder jet Auto World all I would like to say there is no comparison the tyco's I own are smooth and quiet as could be , fast also ... nice video

    I mostly agree with you about each chassis . . . I have a few X-tractions mainly because I like the Nascar bodies . . . You're right about the springs . . . last night I was working one of the X-traction chassis and a pick-up shoe came off and the spring went flying . . . I have a shag rug so my vac will end up eating it . . . but I had a pit kit so everything was cool . . . and I enjoy maintaining my cars anyways . . . It's fun cleaning and working on them for best performance . . . I understand a lot of racers don't . . . thanks for all your videos . . . always enjoy them! . . . 😁

    Thanks so Much for this Very Very informative Video for the slot car enthusiast ... Beginners and next level . Quickly my story is the same as many , Had a set as a kid , life flew by , never kept anything from back in the day ... The in the 90's my Wife ends up buying me a Tyco Lambrogini Championship 60 ft set ... never set up the complete set 10 years ago I set up an oval and purchase two tyco Mattel hot wheels two pack the #44 and it came with a truck both nascar. As far as what you said about TYCO I must agree with you I had the two Lambroginis that came with the set then bought the TYCO Mattel ... about three weeks ago I set up the entires track Now I own 15 cars and I can attest to the tyco being smooth and quiet with some pretty good speed .... I will end in saying Thanks again for all your expertise pertaining to slot cars ... see ya Dan. .... oops just noticed I commented 4 days ago apologies lol

    I have half these chassis in my small collection I keep put up. I see there are some nice upgraded options. Also i agree that 440 chasis was a monster. Especially in the late 80's racing my buddies. They hated one of my cars with that chassis. This is a good learning video...thanks

    When I was a kid all the moving parts of the Aurora Thunderjet is what was exciting to me. I loved mechanical things, especially all the gears. The simplicity of the Tyco cars at the time was boring to me and I very much disliked the worm drive gears in the early years. If ultimate speed is what excites you, then an inline motored car with magnetic traction assist is what you will enjoy, but they don't have the feel or characteristics of a pancake powered car whether an original Thunderjet or an auto world Xtraction car. I don't have a lot of fun with a car that is so blindingly fast that I can't even see it going around the track. You have to DRIVE a pancake powered car around the track and that is the fun- especially if you have a track timing system.

    As a slot car racer for 50+ years I find the magnet technology sad. Everybody wants the cars to go too fast. That is not racing. It is about who can buy the most expensive technology. In my opinion it is not as much fun trying to watch the superfast cars as opposed to the slower truer handling of the slower cars. GO T-JETS

    • @mickangio16
      @mickangio16 10 місяців тому +1

      Speed is relative to what you're comparing. I have loved Thunderjets for near 60 years. The auto world version doesn't compare. Same goes for the original AFX Magnatraction cars compared to what auto world calls Xtraction- I don't pronounce it like a dental procedure😁 The fastest and most modern type of cars that I enjoy are the AFX and Xtraction type cars although I mostly just collect them. The ones that I build, play, and compete with are Aurora Thunderjet and other Thunderjet TYPE cars. Long live the pancakes.

    Very nice. Could you do the auto world super lll compared to the “new” super lll? I guess they reworked some how to make it useable. The old ones were let’s say not so very good at all. How can we tell the new from the old and are they better? Thanks🏎🏁

      I bought 8 Super 3s from the first round and AutoWorld never replaced of fixed the problem. From the start I've been asking why Autoworld would even bother making it. Its a huge fail and AW keeps pushing it on us to get their money out of it. Sorry this channel will never buy another Super3 ever! They dont even have the NASCAR logo anymore. Just shows how much AW cares about there slot car costumer.

    I'm really old school on these, But I remember slot cars to where you would go racing on really big tracks , & you could build your own chassis on any 1/24 scale model kit fro AMT MPC Monoghram, Revell: As I recall. This was back in the mid 60's thru the mid 70's. I was not able to afford these, & I recall allot of adults were into this scale of racing, & this circuit of racing. I do have a question about this scale of slot car racing did this scale ever exist? Just curious as my memory is vague on these. & I would hear allot of talk about how well your brushes made contact with the track, & the gearing as well.

    Hi, this video is great, and you are right Tyco 440 is the best for me, it was in 1990, and it is now, but… i came back to the hobbie, and i bought 4 aw xtraction cars… and men!, they are mmmm… well sometimes they finish a lap… and i have 2 4 gear, and they were faster than tyco… so i want your help please, and to buy afx mega g+, does it worthy?, or should i buy 4 gear?… but seen your video i think 4 gear is not a option, can you tell me if mega g+ is as fast as tyco? Hahah ot should i buy only tyco 440 and thats it, thank you!

    • @slotvalleyracing
      @slotvalleyracing  7 місяців тому

      Mega G + is a can motor, so you are always limited as to what you can change. Not only is tyco still available new but they are the best H.O. chassis ever made. Easy to hop up! Fast and reliable.

    As a kid,I loved super fast g-plus cars. As an adult, there is NO fun watching cars go 1,000mph. It is unrealistic, unbelievable and is more like racing rockets/fighter jets, etc. on a plastic track. NOT fun, not realistic.

    Dan as you know I hobby in 1/32 but I'm looking into a 1/64 track just for fun after watching your post seems AFX is definately way to go and I'm familiar with . Question is 2 lane or 4 lane? What's your stance?

    • @slotvalleyracing
      @slotvalleyracing  Рік тому

      Here it is and if you are on tonight and ask me I will explain again... Ok here it is. If you are racing only you mostly with someone else sometimes you go 2. If you have a big group of interested (dedicated) races then go 4 lanes. I have a 4 lane with only 2 people because I run ghost cars for filming and I usually only run the 2 inside lanes.

      @slotvalleyracing what is your honest opinion on the current auto world cars from just an enthusiasts pov, and not a racer? I'm really thinking about getting back into it after nearly 50yrs, and don't want to have to constantly "fiddle" with them, I've got a bunch of grandkids and I'm sure they'd loose interest if that happens alot. I've read about the afx offerings, but the selection of bodies vs auto world is kinda lacking. And I've read almost nothing but positive on the tyco, which is what I had in the 70s

    • @slotvalleyracing
      @slotvalleyracing  5 місяців тому +1

      to be honest... I would go with Carrera. Ive done the HO scale for a long time but was disappointed with no good cars no innovation. With Carrera you can change lanes and have 6 cars on the track at once. And Very Grandkid friendly as you can sent the max speed for the cars the kids are playing.
