    Another tip for reducing the click clack is the where the slots widen slightly at the joints. These were shown in the video but especially in the curves, these widened points can be real noisy. Once you have the track assembled in it's final placement, you can go back and actually fill in some of these points with some filler material so that the car's guide pin doesn't "slam" in to these widened points. Only fill in these points after the track is assembled and secured to the table surface. I use a material that's easy to remove so that the track sections don't end up glued together.

      Glad you found the video helpful. Indeed, a lot has changed. I still find myself running the old Aurora T-jets as well as the modern "pancake" motor chassis from OS3 & Dash.

      @@slotslidershoslotcars … I’m currently making a 2 lane micro raceway and am using plastic putty to really smooth out the joints. Wish I would have seen this video before I started. I checked my individual pieces of track before assembling my raceway, but not to the extent that you showed in this video. 😎🤙

    I was inspired by your 36x80 layout on the yellow door and made one exactly like it. I have a few areas on the track where the sections are not meeting squarely and cars regularly crash or get stuck. Any advice for getting smoother transitions between sections or fixing areas where they seem to not fit?

    • @slotslidershoslotcars
      @slotslidershoslotcars  Рік тому +2

      Run a credit care or something similar over the joint where one section meets the other,,smooth? If it isn't, it is either a rail that is coming out of its channel..basicly you have to follow the tips in the video. If the two sections are not meeting squarely, that can be due to straight runs the length of the layout that are not straight.
      You would definitely benefit from track clips. They hold the track together firmly & can help with poor joints & keeping everything smooth.

    You can put silicon oil spray in the groowe for lower friction.

    So I got my 12 yo son an AFX international 4 lane for Xmas…one the box..set it up set the power on medium power (18v) and the about 1/3 of the track did not stay together…the rails…at least 4 rails didn’t sit properly…thank god we belong to a HO club and we do have the knowledge to repair or replace but the average Joe (who this set was intended) would have no clue…so it would go back in the box and sit in the back of the closet forever..Tomy/AFX has to step up their game in quality control…Autoworld has some issues to but not nearly as many out of the box…food for thought..

    I think Im going to flat sand my track a bit with 1000 grit . Mainly for shoe wear . It seams like my shoes wear a bit quicker than they should .

      I used CA or cyanoacrylate. Here is a link. You can use thin, medium or thick viscosity. Thin seems to be most common in big box store. Thin is fine, but runs like water. Less is more. The small applicators as seen on this Amazon listing are helpful.

      Hey Curtis.
      Do you have other cars that run fine on same track? Double check that you power pack is firmly plugged in & that it, as well as your controllers are firmly plugged in at your terminal track. Did you buy it new or pre-owned? Did you upgrade traction magnets? Make sure wheels are not rubbing against body. Let me know how you make out.

    The rails are ‘held down’ at the opening you can see on the underside of the track piece. Check there first. Then go to Walymart and buy the super cheap fine sanding blocks. Run then down ALL FOUR RAILS to clean them up.
