I highly advise against using the auto parking brake. It’s a safety counter-measure, not convenience feature. Imagine getting used to that and getting into a rental without it. Complacency through automation is a big problem going forward with all these safety features that we naturally eventually take for granted.
Agreed. Knowing it is there as an added safety feature is great. But do not use it in place of the putting the car in drive.

Very informative...love it
An additional feature is auto cleaning of the backup camera. Washer fluid is sprayed on camera at the same time it is sprayed on rear window. Very nice feature.

Really helpful. Thank. I had a question about the backup camera though? When I reverse and put it in drive the camera still stays on the screen unless I hit radio or put it in park and back to dive again. Is that normal?

I researched this to death, so this is for anyone that has questions about the ambient lighting in the panoramic sunroof. The ambient lighting in the Tiguan was install in all 2018 Tiguan SEL, SEL R-Line, SEL Premium and SEL Premium R-Line models. For 2019 models they were install in some Tiguans in the Americas and Canada. Once the recall started they stop installing ambient lighting in the panoramic sunroof for Tiguans. The ambient lighting had electrical issues due to condensation build up on the metal rails attached to the panoramic sunroof that could ignite an electrical fire. Once VW was able to fix the issues, you could have it reconnected for 2018 Tiguan's ambient lighting in the panoramic sunroofs. When I purchased my 2019 Tiguan SEL Premium R Line, I was excited driving home I couldn't wait for it to turned dark so I could see my ambient lighting. To my disappointment the panoramic sunroof ambient lighting was never turned on, when I went into my lighting options there was no option for ambient lighting in the sunroof. It's always bother me that I have the ambient lighting strips and wiring all preinstall but it's not connected. I have a call into the VW Service Manager in my area and will let you know if I can finally get the lights turned on. Here are some quick checks to see if you have the lighting system in your 2019 Tiguans, in your glove box you'll see a sticker with vin number, eng. code, paint no., and at the bottom you'll see option codes. If your option code has 3FJ it means you have the ambient panoramic lighting system installed, if your code is 3FU this mean you do not have the ambient panoramic lighting system installed. If you have the older virtual cockpit version, a built date of mid to late 2018, you have a SEL, SEL R Line, SEL Premium or SEL Premium R Line you may have the lighting system preinstalled. If you have the new virtual cockpit you probably don't have the lighting system installed. Another way is to do a visual check, open your roof in a lighted area and look to see if the lighting system is installed. You should see white lighting strips running down both sides of your panoramic sunroof. At this date VW have no program to install the lighting system in Tiguans if it's not preinstalled. For some possible good news if they have the 3FJ code, for others VW no longer install ambient lighting in the panoramic sunroof for most 2019, 2020 and future Tiguans.

I bought a 2020 Tiguan SE. I do not have a Nav button, but it did come with a Navigation SD card in the slot. The Tiguan recognizes the SD card on the display screen. Is there a way to get Navigation activated?
Great videos about the 2019 & 2020 Tiguan. I bought an SE this past January. Excellent vehicle for its class. Thanks for telling me how to open all the windows at once! I actually read the manual for this car and it mentions the front passenger folds down, a nice feature for extra storage, but the Tiguan does not do it? The manual is outdated or incorrect on some things or it is a universal car manual for all models which is not great. Anyway, enough rambling, keep up the awesome videos. You should be a public speaker somewhere.

I think that's leftover language from the first-gen Tiguan (2009+). The passenger seat folded forward and would lay completely flat, making for a continuous flat load floor that extended from the tailgate all the way to the dash. This made hauling long items (curtain rods, rugs, lumber, etc.) incredibly easy, but it only worked on passenger seats with manual recline control, so higher trims often didn't have this feature. And none of the trims in the second-gen (2018+) Tiguan have included it - I think it's probably a mistake that it's still in the owner's manual.

My 2021 Tiguan TDI last weekend the boot lid wound not lock, went to a VW dealer, not my dealer we’re too busy, I asked if I replaced the key battery might help, “never hear of that fix” they said, I asked for them to replace key battery, they put new battery in, charged me £5.00 I went out pressed lock button on key, boot lid locked first go, thanks for that info and the dealer is more knowledgeable.

On our Tiguan we didn't get the SD reader headunit. Why it wasn't integrated in the first place?
you can only switch navigation if you've bought a version from them? Or you can switch waze/google maps as well?
If not, if you buy their nav system, can you use waze switched to main?
It only currently works with VW navigation!
How Can I fold mirror side in my Tiguan SE by hand?
your videos are awesome and I love the tiguan, like an affordable AUDI type alternative just wish the ground clearance was a little higher to match the RAV4
Also, I never hear anyone talking about outside electric folding mirrors...and does the Tiguan have a premium light package that includes LED external lighting , head, turn , fog, tail, turn and backup?
And no mention of rear fog lights
Like the Audi and other Euro car?

Thank you! Yeah having the auto folding mirrors is an awesome feature! The SEL Premium we used in this video has LED headlights and taillights. I think the fog, turn signal and backup lights are standard halogen... and unfortunately I don’t think I’ve ever seen rear fog lights!

I work at Enterprise and we get the 2020 and 2021 Tiguan SE’s in and I see them reverse the cars. The reverse lights are LEDs as well. Only the fogs are halogens on the SEL Premium.

Have had ours for about 2 months now and love it!! The ACC is amazing you literally only have to steer unless you come to a complete stop like at a stop light then just hit the gas till about 5 mph then it takes over again
Hi, just purchased a 2020 Tiguan SE last week and can't figure out how to fold side mirrors. The manual shows an icon on the slider for adjusting the mirrors but I don't have that icon on mine. I'm afraid to manually push in and break them, but is that likely my only option if there don't seem to be power options anywhere in the car?
There will be a clearly marked button if you have power mirrors. I would imagine on an SE you would not have them so they would be manual folding! Thanks for checking out the video!
If you have power fold door mirrors the adjusting knob will normally have five settings: heat, left adjust, neutral (0), right mirror adjust and fold.
Soo if you open the door while the vehicle is moving will the brakes lock up?
I have Bluetooth synced my phone (Android) with my car and now when I get a text message I don't know that one came in. I do not hear a notification through the car speakers or my phone. Only a small envelope pop up. This is a real pain when I am not the one driving and would like to hear the notification. is there a secret solution for this? Thanks!

I had the turn by turn instructions on the digital dash and it asked me if I wanted the map. I said yes and it put the map on the digital dash like in this vid but how do I get the turn by turn instructions back? Can't seem to do it. Press the same button you pressed on the display?? Think I prefer the map on the display and the turn by turn on the dash....
I tested this after seeing your comment. It does seem like you cannot view turn by turn directions and the map on the digital dash at the same time. So you would have to hit the same button I showed in the video to switch it back... then you would have the turn by turn on the dash and the map on the display!
These are great. All of a sudden, my 2020 Tiguan says "Unknown Driver, don't forget your cell phone" when I turn the car off to get out but not sure why it doesn't know me all of a sudden. Any ideas on that???

It is a good question. I think they realized it was no longer useful and thus removed it in the newer models
I'm having issues to make the window go all the way down I got it on all the settings
why not use Auto Hold? it will automatically engages the parking break once you unbuckle the seat belt.
US models don’t come equipped with it.

i think the auto parking brake is a great safety idea but i mean who honestly just gets out of their car while still in gear? you wouldnt even be able to get halfway out of the car before it rolls away with you still inside.
I think it’s more an emergency type thing...I have definitely come to a stop in a parking space and turned the ignition off without shifting back to park... it’s never good.
For me it’s the auto start stop system that gets me. I often shit to park and the engine turns off so I think the car is and leave with the car still on 😂
#1 is bad advise. the feature is there for safety not to be a convenient way to jump out and do something really quick.
So if youre getting car jacked it will help the guy draggin you out of your car by applying the park brake so you cant speed off
The biggest disadvantage of VW Tiguan 2019 Canadian model;
Speedometer is only in Km, resulted in a nightmare to drive across the border in USA.

I have a 2021 Elegance and the book says it will easy close with a foot wiggle, it doesn't, it will open only. While I'm here, the voice command doesn't work either, apparently I have to pay over £100 for the privilege. Well they can stuff that, having paid for the top of the range I'm not paying more to get a button to work! Very bad ethics/ethos

I feel bad for the next generation.
All of these were useless. First, anyone who buys the Tiguan will know about the rear seats moving. The Navigation stuff is ONLY available in the top line SEL so useless to those of us with the SE and S models. Last, those SD cards are NEVER used and neither are the stupid coin slots in the glove box.
