Interior lights can be dimmed by long-pressing on the light. A touch turns them off or on, like you said, but a long touch dims. And this works for the front overhead cabin lights and the lights over the rear doors,
Wow, a "you didn't know" video that actually features a few things I didn't know! The movable space dividers and swappable cupholder were almost mindblowing to me. That's a game-changer. I also did not know about the two-finger press for heated seats. That was pretty cool. I did not know that virtually every action in the car is based on touch. Even the overhead lighting. The automatic high beam works exactly the same as my Tesla and Accord and a Prius I recently drove. I guess that has been adopted as an industry standard. I did not know about the two tiers of rear storage, although that middle layer does not seem very deep. I also knew about the "Rear" button and holding it for all four windows, and also knew about the cellphone pocket for the rear seats. Nice video, well done, and good presentation style. Thanks for posting.
Maybe you knew about it, if you keep the rear (windows) button pressed for 2 seconds, it starts blinking and then you control the 4 windows at the same time!
What might be a secret and/or hidden is how to open all 4-windows at the same time. Press and hold the “Rear” button until it blinks orange, then press the two window buttons at the same time and all 4-windows will go down. Neat. Thanks for the video.
That's a great tip on the cupholders. Most reviewers of the ID.4 completely miss that feature. Same for the two finger press for heated seats. Subscribed.
@@maxtorbelgium Haha, I thought I was the only person that said RTFM to people. In the 90's I used to say that to customers (jokingly) when I sold car stereo systems.
Golden!! I knew all of these except the swipe down option one. Excellent!! Having (now knowing) that option is most helpful, as I really dislike having to go thru all the options just to warm my steering wheel. Thank you for this! I read the manual cover to cover, but maybe I missed that option in there. Not even sure it's noted in the manual, but either way. Thanks for the tip, good video!
@@BachmanVolkswagenLouisville I hope you do more videos on different features of the ID.4 Such as: the headlight situation confuses me with the different buttons on the console and the different climate control options. I find myself just pushing things until I find one I like.
Did you know the ID4 will do a brake hold at stoplights? If you simply press the "resume" button on the cruise control it will lock the vehicle until you press the gas. It defaults to the last set speed if you have used it on this trip. If not it will default to 15mph. Let me know if this was helpful. Thanks
Very interesting video, didn’t know about the heated seats tap trick, I agree though the rear window buttons are pointless as it takes at least 3 or 4 taps to get it to swap to rear which is frustrating.
Is it possible to set the headlights to not turn off when the driver exits the vehicle? I would like the headlights to turn off only when turning the vehicle off.
These are really good tips. I thought the configurable cup holders were obvious but apparently not since several people commented on them. The rear windows button is just stupid. It takes up just as much room as two more buttons would, and it is very finicky. But the tips on seat heaters, customizable favorites and headlight controls are great, and I have never seen them mentioned in any other reviews. Thanks for the great tips.
In my Golf 8 I’ve got the same infotainment system with a few minor differences, and it’s not laggy at all. But last week; here in the south of England, it was a really hot day about 31 Celsius the main unit was not working until the interior cooled but also the sensors were messed up, I had travel assist active and and the speed detection told the car it could go 90mph! Needless to say I turned travel assist off because the max speed here is 70mph on the motorway, but I was driving through a small village which was 30mph✌️
The ACC speed increasing on its own happened to me twice. Incredibly dangerous. I've also had continuoual travel assist shutdowns, ACC shutdowns, steering wheel buttons not responding to touch sometimes the backlighting shoes out when the go dead, dynamic road sign display errors and a host of other software issues over the past 14 weeks.
Wow, the two finger touch for heated seats and favourites are all it took for me to want this more now. Its between this (in AWD) and Niro EV, but preferred the Kia for the buttons. I’m 95% sold! Just need Canada to get the AWD next year. THANK YOU!!!
You missed holding the "Rear" button for a few seconds to control all windows, and also long pressing the lights to dim them. Those are the real hidden features I expected in this video
It’s in the infotainment screen. You can set the locks to open as you approach the vehicle with the key in your pocket. It’s in the vehicle section, I think.
I think that the response time on the screen is to make you keep your eyes on the road, because if it would be faster you,d keep looking at it. I really liked you comments but there are many English words that could be used to replace (cool) I stoped counting them but they were many!
Sorry m8, NO! I'll give you 1 good secret for your next video. Hold Windows rear button little bit longer and you hear piip, then left or right side will move up and down by 1 pressing.

I cannot for the life of me figure why some reviewers complain that the touch sensitive screen controls are not like having a volume knob. What? If you can be happy with the touch sensitivity of an iPhone or Android then the VW’s touch should not be a big deal on any level.

What NO one mentions -- and car designers don't bother with -- is how to change the angle of the headrest. I look at people leaned wa-ay back in their seat and the headrest would be fine. Well, I want the seat upright for medical reasons. Which means the d@mn headrest shoves into my neck and forces my head at an unnatural angle.

Hold down the rear window button longer and you'll be able to control all 4 windows with one button at the same time
If you open your ears you'll hear little chimes when you hold the rear button. First chime means 'back windows' second chime means 'all four windows'.
