When the Falcon was breaking out of the sea and Searching for Friends started playing in the background..
Probably the many "mini climaxes" in the World of Balance once most of the team is together. The Empire's ruse is such a cool part of the game - nothing like walking around talking to Gestahl's soldiers as if nothing bad was going to happen.... Plus the entire Opera sequence and music there along with the music/mystery of Zozo.
I also loved the long ending after beating the game, but it made me think there might be a "return to Balance" section of the game with a "nice" world again. Just a tease though haha.
The entire game it's my favourite Final Fantasy and one of my top played games.
PHANTOM TRAIN SUPLEX.
Would be much faster to list all the non-memorable parts 😉
Definitely my favorite game of all time. Even at 52 I still play this game. Music and story. Can’t be beat.
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it and the game! Have you played it lately?
how old were u when u initially played it?
The opera scene is a feat for the tech at the time. Amazing.
Suplexing the Phantom Train...
It's the only way to go!
I wish I could actually do that :c
Lel, not using phoenix down.
Paused to say exactly t hat.
Funniest shit ever. Wish it can be done in ffxiv.
Thank you. I just relived the game without spending 40 hours.
You're welcome, thanks for watching
40 hours? You must not have played all of it lol
You just wasted an hour as oppsed to gaining 50+ hours of pure knowledge & nostalgia
So you have a memory problem?
@@Xygor man thank you for the same reason.
it was always on my list, but getting older, i have little time. finishing a game like this is a big project for me in my sparetime.
kisses on your nose!
"Gestahl announces that it is Celes's birthright to rule the world with himself and Kefka"
Well that's what 90s Nintendo made him say. In reality he wanted Celes and Kefka as breeding stock to repopulate the world once he was done reshaping it.
Interesting, didn't know this! Thanks!
@@Xygor It's in the GBA version - he says something like "you and Kefka will be tasked with creating progeny for my Magitek Empire."
@@reloadpsi so basically he was gonna pull a Hojo... before Hojo pulled a Hojo (trying to breed Aerith and Red XIII).
@@FragmentedR_YT He was trying to breed them? Oh my, never realized that.
This is very important to point out. Thanks!
I love how you need to rebuild your party + discover the new party members for the perfect ending
True, one of the best parts of the story!
Don't care what anyone else says..... BEST. FINAL. FANTASY. EVER!!!!! and one of the top 5 best games ever.
AGREED!!!
nah man 7 exists
to each their own
Game Informer magazine has Final Fantasy VI as the #2 of the top 100 RPGs of all time.
I agreed best final fantasy ever.
Yes... you are a man of true culture
"Cyan overcomes his fear of machinery by using a switch..."
Imagine being so crippled by fear of machinery that a simple switch is what stands between someone living or dying.
The true master piece of the entire series. This game seriously deserves a complete remake.
Great video btw!
Thanks Brandon, I totally agree! This is my favorite one.
Yeah, masterpiece is just one word. I agree with you though, I played video games before this but this is the game that not only got me into JRPG's but really into gaming but mainly JRPG's. lol It still holds it's spot in my top 3 JRPG's in of all time getting 2nd, the first being Chrono Trigger the third at the time was The 7th Saga but now it holds the third with Final Fantasy VII. Also depending on well the day I guess lol my 1st and 2nd spot trades places. Nowadays The Witcher 3 The Wild Hunt is one of my favorite games of all time, I guess my favorite non JRPG.
Agreed, best FF game and in my opinion best game ever made.
FF VI and IX are the greatest ever
I for one like Terra's esper form in high def. ;)
I remember back in 1994 being awestruck that they managed to put this much game, in this level of quality, into a single 16-bit cartridge. The character arcs, the story, the atmosphere...
Now, over a quarter of a century later, I still hold this title in that same high regard. It is the epitome of all things a JRPG should be; in many ways, it still hasn't been eclipsed.
This could be a Netflix series with several seasons.
Why you want this to be destroyed?
Don't give them any ideas. This story shall not be in flames. Ff13 did enough damage as is
FF13 can be a Netflix series with 3 seasons, leave FF6 alone :p lol
Its too risky. SJW's would screw it up.
Raider Kid sadly the FF7 director wants to remake 5 next for some reason
"wow that was badass!"
"you don't know badass until you've suplexed a ghost train"
"... what?"
"SIGH... Kids these days"
Ill never forget the fire dance
Ill never forget ditching fire dance for air blade
FF6 is one of the greatest games of all time
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it and the game! Have you played it lately?
Kefka is one of the best videogame villains of ALL TIME.
He actually won unlike any other FF villains
@@AndromedaPrima and then lost
@@Oban2006
What did he lose though?
World was screwed and without magic it is still screwed.
Kanye West liked this post.
He really is!
I liked how you put all the events in chronological order
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it and the game! Have you played it lately?
I downloaded it to my phone. The character sprites were updated, so they look different. The game still plays the same though. Good times
This hands down one of my favorite entries in both the Final Fantasy series, and in RPGs entirely. Its such an amazing story, with such amazing music.
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it and the game! Have you played it lately?
It was a time when, to convey emotion, you did not need spectacular graphics and special effects....Just a good story, fleshed out (?) characters and music that takes you to the guts
The music of this game is for some reason extremely embedded in my mind more so then most games but similarly to Chrono Trigger.
It's the same with Secret of Mana and Final Fantasy 2(4) as well for me.
@@HallyVee FF4 and xenogears for me, though i do fondly remember ff6 and CT (still need to play ff5 to the end and CC some day)
@@Bjorick I missed the whole Xenogears bandwagon entirely, although I wasn't particularly averse to sci-fi games then. Just never happened to own the systems. I'm realizing Genesis and other had some true gems, far too late unfortunately.
@@HallyVee well, unless you're dead, not sure it's too late, i have kids and still finding a (little) time to go back and play some of the gems, trying to work my way through dark wizard on sega cd now, great game, and i plan to play dragon force on the saturn soon
maybe i would have enjoyed it more as a child, but i do still enjoy it :)
Yes. Terras theme
Addition to the ending: Flying away they see people rebuilding their towns and preserving nature, indicating the world can be restored to its former healthy and balanced state.
FF7 got all the attention but FF6 will always be the best.
This, perfectly said.
7 was a mess.
bad story.
half-baked graphics....
i played it out of obligation more than anything else...
and once i saw the ads for ff8 square died for me...
@Prep's Casket i did stop it.
as soon as i saw the ads for ff8
at tha tmoment square died for me.
they did to ff what jar jar abrams did to star trek and star wars...
Agreed
I think FF4 is the best one but VI is pretty much equal to it
I've never played a FInal Fantasy game ever in my life since my childhood in Nigeria but this game, I stumbled on this video randomly and now this will be my first Final Fantasy game. I love the themes of hope in despair, perseverance despite failure, unity, and overcoming nihilism. Thanks for such a great video.
Wow, that's awesome to hear! You won't regret it, this is an awesome game!
@@Xygor Many thanks, friend. Once I'm done with this semester, I'll buy and play it on steam.
I always loved how Edgar gives everyone the finger. Class act.
Pretty sure its just finger wagging, Sonic does it too in the classic sonic title screen animations
I see you suplexed a train at around 18:24 ... good choice of attack to use in this video.
A great video like this deserves more views and discussion.
People in more popular videos always forget to explain the Gestalt Empire and the Returners, they get more excited (rightfully so) with Kefka's World.
I also noticed you did a great script by using the information of the subquest into the main lore (Odin's story as an example), recording the right moments and I also like how you do the musical bridges.
If you ever need English to Spanish subtitles you can count me in ;)
Yeah. Even though I played through this hundreds of times (literally), I still learned more from it by watching this awesome video.
Love how the first 9 minutes of this video is just the prologue, before the events of the game even commence. So many sub plots and well thought out background stories to this game, which make it fully worth taking the time to explore both “worlds”….
Best Final Fantasy game, hands down. Gotta love the Opera scene.
I agree with you, so timeless!
They really don't make games like this anymore. This game truly was a classic. It also dealt with a lot of real life issues... suicide (Celes/throwing herself off the cliff), teen pregnancy (Duane/Catrin), Mental health (Terra), Paternity (Relm/Shadow) ... Loved this game
Best ever in my opinion!
"wow that was badass!"
"you don't know badass until you've suplexed a ghost train"
"... what?"
"SIGH... Kids these days"
other relatable real-life scenarios... honor & duty (Cyan), abandonment issues (Gau), estranged family members (Sabin/Edgar), unrequited love (Setzer), grieving a lost love (Locke), coping with tragedy (pretty much every character), powerfully corrupt & greedy empire, chaos & madness (Kefka)
Celes' suicide can prevented if you give Cid the correct fish.
u could say this game is philosophical in a sense😀
So much emotions in this story alone truly epic
And when you realized Kefka is the Joker and Terra was Harely Quinn before Harley
@@BellowDGaming Awww and the reply killed it for me lol.
youre right about the first part for sure
@@blueisnotgreen7258 killed it for me too lol
@@blueisnotgreen7258 wait thats the same person? agh.... yikes. thought it was a... random... idio... nevermind.
clearly never played the game, or even bothered to watch the video. its prob a shameless plug type thing
So true!
I just played all the way through this game for the first time a month or two ago. It was the best game i have played since final fantasy 10. I was already thinking about what to do on my next playthrough before i was even done with the game. Absolute masterpiece.
Yes it was! Have you played it lately?
@@Xygor I have not. I do have my SNES right here though...
You are so awesome for making these. lived these games in my youth because I was cut off from connecting with people until I was older and got into high school. They helped shape me through some very traumatic childhood years and introduced concepts that matured into greater philosophical perspectives in my adult life. You have created a remarkably accurate and concise way for me to show my loved ones what I'm talking about without having to go through all of it with them. you rock!
Thank you! Glad you loved this one as much as me! This is my favorite game ever. Many more to come!
The opera house is the most amazing part and music from all video games. It blew my mind when I was a kid (I was 10).
Mine too. So amazing!
What a powerful story
Yes it was, have you played it lately?
Haven't played it in years but it was amazing Definitely needs A remake
I still believe this to be the best FF ever! Story telling was perfect!
Me too! Hope you liked it.

Awesome story description of final fantasy 6.
Do you plan to do one of these videos for the game earthbound?
Great job. Me and Junkzor miss you. It’s so weird hearing you speak without saying chode every other sentence.
Can u please do full stories for Ff8, Ff9, Xenogears, legend of dragoon, etc ?
If you ever need English to French translation, holla.
FF6 is my Fav FF, When will SE realize to make a Remake for this?!
It has been almost 12 years since I touched this game, but i remember a wedding at the end. I need to play this game again. It is my favorite one ever.
My favorite too!
By far the best FF6 synopsis on UA-cam. Keep on killin' it bro!
Thanks man! Many more to come!
I recalled everything I had forgotten and even came to know some stuff I think I missed.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS VIDEO.
I didnt think anyone could capture the story as well as you did, such memories from Childhood. With pixel art it seems the darker themes of this game were overlooked by me, thank you!
Thank you for the praise, glad you liked it!
Very well told. Great memories of playing the game came rushing back. Thank you for that.
P.s. please make more!
I definitely will.
playing the what now? lol
Yup, Sabin is still my fav final fantasy character to this day 💪💪
Isn't he sweet?
@@Xygor yup, and badass too. If only we can get a total remake for ff6, that would be awesome to see his blitz skills
Syncing that music to start when Locke comes in to rescue Celes. Perfect.
True! Still memorable in 2023.
I feel bad for anyone ff fan that jumped on board when ff7 came out and missed out on this game when it first released. This game blew my mind. I still play it every year and I still say it's the best ff entry.

@@Locazoo675 lol, square soft does their very best to remind people why final fantasy 7 is their favorite final fantasy haha.
I guess that makes us the cool kids in class because we have a more refined taste in final fantasy lol.
@@frankrizzo7713 Haha indeed 😎
I agree with you!
this game has blown me away with one of the most impressive soundtracks in any game. I'm amazed anyone is still talking about it.
Nobuo Uematsu (the composer) says it is his favorite Final Fantasy! Its mine too, story and soundtrack.
My favourite too
same, my favorite. i'm with uematsu on this one.
It really is timeless!
Damn.. this reminds me how special this game was to me! One of my most favorite games I've ever played. It is so incredible
This is a magical video. It's hard to keep track of the many characters and their lives during a playthrough. Much like a GM in a tabletop RPG, you've really brought to life all these characters; so much so that the narrative leaves a much more lasting mark in my mind. When I boot the game up again, it's going to be so vibrant.
this was absolutley amazing! i loved it. thank you for taking the time to do this. My favorite game of all time.

Thank you for the sub and kind words!
This is my favorite game of all time. It’s hard for me to really understand how a group of people actually sat down and wrote such a perfect story. It almost doesn’t seem possible.
Its unbelievable. I stopped playing RPG's soon after this because nothing ever added up to this or Chrono Trigger.
Mine too. Isn't it wonderful?
Man, after binge watching a number of your videos I've determined that your channel is seriously underrated/ under appreciated. You do such a good job of going over everything that even when you already know the whole story its still amazing lol
Thank you!
Thanks a lot for posting this very well thought and beautifully summarized version of the story.
I really appreciate it.
Thanks for watching, glad you liked it! Please sub for more :)
Thank for the video and for SUPPLEXING THE TRAIN!
Had to do it!
Amazing summary. I remember why I loved this game so much. Such as great cast and meaningful "sidequests".
Glad you enjoyed it!
Like I said before I love the video. I really appreciate the fact that you explain the background stories that lead into the game and the fact that you tell the story that unfolds in the game without telling how to make each and every event happen. That leaves it to be figured out by the players of this game. Very good job, thank you very much!
Thank you, I’m glad you liked it!
I love yourb vids so far especially on chrino trigger. Keep it up. I love all the details you put in these!
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it and the game! Have you played it lately?
Yo, this game NEEDS a hd remake! Maybe if the ff7 remake does very well, we will get one!
There is a fairly hd version on mobile but it is horrid. They need to make a next gen version on present consoles and pc.
Doubt they will go backwards, buddy.
Who knows. Maybe after remaking the popular one thanks to its timing they'll remake the best one. I don't think they can give it the FF7 treatment though. FF7 was a rather simple, if messy, game, but FF6 had to rely on much more than graphics and flashy moves to reach its status and would make for a very complex remake. Nostalgia isnt as strong with it either. FF7 holds its place for being a lot of ppl's first RPG.
Alexandre Simoneau 6’s plot is rather simple, it’s the sub plots that give it the complexity it has, and if Square decides to remake it and doesn’t give it the 7 treatment the fans would be outraged
If you get the pc version and download some graphics mods. Theres even a mod that makes Celes actually sing
My favorite game, ever. Thanks for the awesome narration and letting me relive everything without having to play through it all.
Tragic.
Mine too, such a classic!

@@Xygor No I haven’t played it in a few years.
Another great video, as always. Without opening the door to which SNES Final Fantasy was better (IV vs VI), this video does call out my biggest complaint of VI: the World of Ruin has virtually no story, it’s simply you grabbing your crew and beating Kefkfa. There’s little character progression or development compared to the first act and most of the secondary characters (i.e. Bannon) are gone, never mentioned and we just presume are dead.
It’s interesting that 40 minutes of the video was dedicated to the World of Balance, and the delta to the World of Ruin which shows that even when you’re explaining the entire plot, there isn’t much of a story to tell.
I did appreciate you showing Sabin giving the suplex to the Phantom train and while never stated Relm is Shadow/Clyde ‘s daughter, the fact they both can use the Memento Ring is all the proof I need.
Thanks Ace. I think VI is the best in the series, but I can understand the gripe about the World of Ruin. It was a change of pace for the story for sure.
@@Xygor I should note that when I say I like IV better than VI, it’s with the smallest margin that is possible between two games. In addition, when I say IV, I mean the actual Final Fantasy IV Hard Type with the more accurately translated script.
I’ll concede that Final Fantasy II was a bit rough around the edges and III was the better of the 2 games if we’re comparing apples to apples.
I liked the change of pace brought about by World of Ruin. You literally determine your ending party, and I disagree with the notion that there is very little story: In fact, each of the characters arcs see completion in the World of Ruin, on some minor NPC characters even see their own stories reach a conclusion.
That was incredibly well done. You’ve got a sub from me keep it up!! I looked forward to the next :-)
Thanks! Final Fantasy 1 is next!
Love these, cant have em on during raid sadly, but I love listening in the background! Keep it up!

Great job with the video. Watching the last chapter brought a tear to my eye! Seriously good work!
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it and the game! Have you played it lately?
I remember when I played the 3 split scenarios. It was the first time I’ve felt playing an adventure.
It really was, the party split part was so great.
Great video. You pointed out a bunch of material that doesn’t translate very well in the game. Let’s hope for a remake of this epic gem
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it and the game! Have you played it lately?
Chrono Trigger is my favorite game (it came out when I was 12) but this game opened my eyes to what Video games could theoretically do. It is arguably the most influential game of all time, even if it isn’t regarded as one of the best by most. I regard it as a top 5 game for sure.
love your content dude. im aspiring to be a fantasy writer and these games have amazing stories. perfect for inspiration. i love these games (played through 7 and 10) but dont have time these days to play all of them. so these videos are tailor made for me. keep em comin bro!
Thank you Stephen!
there was alot of murders and death and drama for a kid... definitely one of my all time favourite games... i spent countless hours discovering things and discussing rumars with other people at school, i swore up and down there was a way to bring back leo, but no... then something called the internet where you could access and print a total walk through came along and i got my hands on one and went through step by step... man what a time lol
Yeah, I remember a lot of the Leo rumors back in the day as well. Haha!
Still my fave FF story to date. Loved this game so much.
Mine too! Timeless classic.
Man oh man, xygor, another phenomenal retrospective and overview! I remember hearing from my classmates in middle school when this first came out on the Super Nintendo, but I was still riding high off of A Link to the Past, Illusion of Gaia, etc. I dismissed it, until a few years later when one of my friends, who was really into RPGs, offered to sell it to me with the Nintendo players guide, as well as Dragon Warrior IV on the NES, for $20! I took him up on the offer, and proceeded to play through the game my senior year of high school. This was would have been about 6 years after it was originally released, and I'm so glad that I did! Seriously one of the most emotive, deep plots, with well developed characters, despite the fact that there were so many to choose from! I was crying many times throughout the playthrough, and hearing your overview of this gem of a game, I was crying just listening to the story be told again. That is a true tale of a masterpiece of a game!! One of the greatest video games of all time!
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it and the game! Have you played it lately?
@@Xygor I finished it last year for the first time in a long time! I had an old save file on my cart that was in the World of Ruin, and I just never completed it. Such a tearjerker of a game, one of the all-time best story arcs and settings! And the characters are all so immersive!
Your videos are criminally under rated and you don't have nearly enough subscribers for the work you do. Amazing work, please keep them coming!
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it and the game! Have you played it lately?
Best overall story for me including best "true" villain in the entire series. I know Sephiroth is most popular but we all know he is gonna be the bad guy from the moment you saw him cuz he is too cool.
This dude is like Joker from Dark Knight movie you think he is just a clown but he murders everyone.
The heroes here feel extremely balanced, unlike FFs 7+ where the MC hogs 80% of the spotlight. Everyone seems to play a crucial role and got a lot of story development. It's also one of the darkest FFs I've seen with magic being fueled by esper remains and all the magic leaving the land.
And the world being destroyed

Great video. You brought back a lot of memories. I still think this is the best FF game
Thanks, and me too!
Yup. Its too good. And the only one that kinda had a messed up ending.
Great narration. It brings me back to my childhood!! Next best thing to replaying the game again. Have you played secret of Mana 2?
If you mean Seiken Densetsu 3 - yes, I'm a big fan of it.
I see you done a few videos for the ending. Any plans to do a complete story video for that SD3 as well? Are there more than 3 ends to that game?@@Xygor

Yes. Amazing story. Gorgeous game, moving music. 11/10.
Couldn't agree more!
The one Final Fantasy to reign over all.
I agree!
This was a very great video. You should do one on every final fantasy game!!
I'm making progress on that. I've done most of them now.
There is a very well written fanfic I had read years ago that was essentially a direct sequel to FF6, 10 years later I think. It spoke of how magic was slowly returning along with an awesome plot... I hope that story hasn't been lost to time.
The story in this game is so good. This is my favorite FF game.
Mine too!
It's interesting how often the motif of a country closing itself off from the outside world and conflict revolving around mixed-breed entities comes up in Japanese stories. The aftermath of theEdo period and the Meiji restoration and subsequent modernisation clearly still resonates with writers in Japan even after a century and a half.
For this sort of matters that is a really brief period.
These sorts of political matters in a culture always show up in the media of that culture. Sometimes subtly and sometimes more overtly. Politics always influences.
This was very well done. Props to you man. Ever since playing it for the first time in christmas of 1994 (man time flies by...) it has since been my favorite final fantasy game.
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it and the game! Have you played it lately?
@@Xygor yes. I just finished the gameboy advance version a few weeks ago and now I'm playing through T-Edition version.
Ima watch this video over and over. Fantastic job bro bravo

Thanks for this, I wish the dragons got more love tho. Earth is one of my all time favorite game bosses.
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it and the game! Have you played it lately?
