So the positive traits he secretly likes about his wife is something he is actively avoiding since he made a negative association based on the things his bullies said about her. Because if he caves in he validates them and as such indirectly (in his eyes) invalidates his wife, whom he loves. Only solution here is to slowly allow these attractions to manifest through their relationship until he disassociates the positive traits from their negative associations.
So, let me think straight...
This little fella is very, very, very into his wife but doesn't want to be? Or he tries to convince himself that he is not? Is this bad in his mind? Is his wife okay with it? What the heck?

Man is traumatized by bullies, bullies make sexually suggestive comments about his wife when they were in school, man considers those comments morally repugnant, so when he develops similar fantasies "I want that big lady to sit on my face" for example, he hates himself for thinking like his bullies. Even though they are totally normal thoughts to have about your spouse he feels immense guilt for thinking that way.
Let me simplify it for you if u are losing brain over it
He knows his bullies were bad people so their thinking was also bad. His bullies thought his wife was hot so they lusted after her and so did he. But since he thinks his bullies thinking was bad he thinks lusting after his own wife is bad. So in conclusion he very very attracted to his wife , he lusts after her but since he thinks those things are wrong he convinces himself he is not attracted to her. He thinks by not lusting after her he is protecting her.
Honestly I think he is freaking cute but just needs help.

The dude does need some therapy. The outer shell it's just the car were stuck driving for the rest of our lives the person driving is the person. Learn to see the person not the car and your wife will end up being the most gorgeous woman on Earth
