Kristy Swanson, Omar Epps and Michael Rapaport star as first-term freshmen who get a crash course in diversity, identity and sexuality in writer/director John Singleton's bold look at contemporary college life. Also starring Laurence Fishburne, Ice Cube, Busta Rhymes, Jennifer Connelly and Tyra Banks.
Omar Epps and Michael Rapaport are really good friends in real life. They recently did a podcast discussing this movie
Well it’s just a movie dummy.
@@WattsUpTez10mm Well, what about “Hey stinky ass” ? Any explanation for why Michael Rapaport said “hey stinky ass” to someone in this movie? Not to mention, the word fart was used in this movie. I’m tempted to call the president
Thus entire thread made me laugh. Thanks 😂
It’s a movie YOU GENIUS 😕
@@Trey-D_NoBs Well maybe you can explain why I opened up that dictionary and that word fart was written in it! I swear I’ll make a phone call
omar epps in every hood movie ever😂😂😂😂😂
Bull was grinding hard in them 90s no doubt
He even played this character in a cameo for don't be a mencae with his childhood friend Marlon Wayans 😂
Not menace
Nah Clifton Powell is
He's not in menace to society not in boys in the hood..not in New Jack city...not in baby boy..not in above the rim ...not in fresh..not in poetic justice...not in American gangster...I could say more but I don't think he was in every "HOOD MOVIE" GREAT actor tho, has great roles..
Great acting omg. Mike and Omar did a hell of a job in this movie
I like how he jumped at him to punk him out 2:26 😂😂😂
That's what we used to do in the 90s
@@lifeandmemoriesofYep 😅
@@lifeandmemoriesof- That’s probably why we had mass shootings. Among other things.
I like how he only talks loudly when he has a gun.
Cuz he’s a punk lmao
COWARD
@@nathansaintus9927- People of all colors do that. Rehabilitation is the answer. Not hate.
How he answered the door “What’s up man” 😂😂😂😂😂
He said it so casual like he forgot what he just said to Malik. I think that John Singleton had that moment in the film, to show that some duality in Remy. That he wasn't a fully entrenched Neo-Nazi.
@@HappyRoach1 nah his ass was just scared lol
@@bryancurry5472 , I think if Remy was really scared at that moment, he opened the door and saw Malik after what he just said to him in front of Deja, Remy wouldn't have said "What's up man?" Remy probably would've closed the door on him, scared he might get snuffed.
Thing about Remy that I believe John Singleton tried to relay to the viewers in certain subtext. Remy wasn't that entrenched in the Neo-Nazi ideology. Remy didn't participate in the Neo-Nazi's attack on an interracial couple leaving a costume party. Also when Malik made Remy flinch and Remy got suicidal, shows how weak Remy's psyche is.
Also near the end, after campus security stops Malik, and let Remy go. You see Remy trying to escape. All the doors are locked and the main doors that he wants to go to say "No Exit" as if it's saying that Remy went to the point of no return. We see Remy have a break down telling campus security that he wanted to be an engineer and build stuff. Then Remy says "I'm sorry" several times, possibly to Malik. Before killing himself. That why think the "Whats up man?" from earlier on was Singleton trying to show that Remy wasn't fully into the Neo Nazi ideology and just roped in because he was loner who didn't fit in.
Sorry for the long ass comment. I took a film class in college and was taught to look out for certain things in film. John Singleton is one of those directors who puts mad subtext and messages in his films.
I think it’s funny too how he said what’s up man because he wanted to get away with what he said.
Remy tried to get on Malik good side but it didn't work Malik was still mad at Remy for calling him a coon those hard 9 knocks on the door 🚪was red flags 🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩
he(Remy)was so solid in his new found Aryan religion that he hesitated to answer the door when it was time to back it up. Man the irony.
I don’t think he was a legitimate Neo-Nazi. A lot of young men join Neo-Nazi organizations because of an identity crisis.
OMG the way Remy was running. LMFAOOOO
That was a very intelligent thing to do I think.
I remember when Malik started hanging out with Ashtray and Loc Dogg in don’t be a menace
I like how he answered the door whats up man........... Like you just didn't call him the N word 5 minutes ago lmao 😂😂🤣🤣🤣
He didn’t…called him a coon
The gap was a bit longer than that. Listen to the dialogue again. Also, Remy would not have opened the door if he was scared. Heck, maybe he thought Malik was coming over to make peace. Maybe if people outside of those Nazis would’ve shown kindness towards Remy, there could’ve been a happy ending.
@@gilson1982Ah yes if only everyone was nice to poor Remy. Then maybe he wouldn’t have killed random people who wasn’t mean to him. lol be fr my guy. He killed a girl who saved him from an ass whooping. She did in fact show him kindness and died anyway.
Imagine Ricky from Boyz N The Hood was going to this college.
Morris chestnut was actually in this movie with a small role he was running track along with Omar Epps instead of playing football him and everybody else from boyz n the hood was in this movie.
Ricky is dead now.
He was going to the college..... as Malik's track and field teammate.
@@rsmith317 So true
@@lapourjenkins9724 in reality
I always felt so bad for Remy. He was just such a weird outcast and rejected so he joined the wrong group through his vulnerability and went down a slippery slope.
As a black man, I actually felt sorry for Remy, because I been in his place. As in the sense, I felt like I didn't belong anywhere and some people preyed on my vulnerability and loneliness. Luckily for me, I broke out of their hold on me before they got me to do something crazy. Nowhere near the levels of Remy though. I see that now as an adult.
Back when I was a teen when this first came out, yeah I hated Remy because I thought he was a loser Neo-Nazi.
I feel like with this Woke movement, we are having a lot of Remies, that are being preyed on and recruited by their Woke overlords. Many repeating Woke talking points and thinking this is what they have to say and believe in to fit in. Unfortunately, we are going to have some of these Wokies can't escape the brainwashing and do something extreme.
@@HappyRoach1 As a white idiot in digital blackface I too feel sympathy for my fellow whites. We are so put upon and can't express our hate in public anymore. All we want is to brag about all the people we want to kill and those no goods keep beating us up, humiliating us, and exposing us with our own words. ITS NOT FAIR :( If only Trump could save us but his bitchass has been indicted yet again...
I think if Fudge's group or his roommate & Wayne would have befriended him he would have been okay.
The movie goes out of its way to portray skin heads as manipulative groomers of social outcasts and cowards who can’t really fight. The movie is pro-black anti-white bs propaganda. And its pure cheese lol
@@HappyRoach1 Tell me the 3rd paragraph is about the neonazis and not rightwing bs talking points in expressing disgust of mostly black movements to justify extremists and supremacist actions
Omar and Michael get along in real life they are friends on Instagram I noticed. They are nothing like the characters from the movie. That is brilliant acting from those two act like they hate each other in movie.
liked his black panther shirt in this
movie
Facts!! I’ve searched for that shirt for years never was able to find it I think it was custom made just for the character
Wrong black panther😅
After Rappaport just called us uneducated Black Tar a few days ago he was being himself here in defense of ISREAL lolololol
I kinda felt bad for Remi, he was targeted too. He just joined da wrong group of people which led to his demise.
Dude was lonely as shit, he just needed friends who understood him and he wouldn't have cared what race they was. That group saw that and took advantage of him. I know it's just a movie but you do have guys out there like that.
This movie is about tribalism. Pure enlightenment is thinking for yourself and not allowing our peers sway our views.
Both Remi and Malik were friendly with one another in the beginning but once they fell into a group they became angry and consumed by their anger.
Amazing film.
This film is also a lesson in causation and what can happen when there's no communication before violence. You can see where maybe had one character went a different route, the rest of the tragedies don't happen.
Most people in their teens and 20s just want to belong somewhere. Wanting to belong somewhere is a natural human feeling. As we get older we learn that it's ok to be a loner, but when you're young having a group that accepts you is important.
He's right. Remi is actually racist villain here and I don't like him. No one will be shootout of this school or college.
When Omar Epps was fooooine😩
Do you watch that Starz series Power Book 3 Raising Kanan? It’s a spin-off of Power. Anyway, Omar plays a cop in the spin-off and he looks and talks like he’s in his 60’s. Plus, he actually played a grandfather in that NBC series This Is Us.
@@montecarlo4294 He just need to loose some damn weight! he's only in his 40's and as a black man should still be fione as hell!
@Banx He was handsome in House too though!!!
He is Kanan Stark's real father
Those eyes
Thing is, Michael Rapaport, the "White Racist" dude, is really one of the most committed advocates for justice and black issues. He's an expert in Hip-Hop history music and a great progressive.
Nobody cares, lol.
Your right it just a fucking Rapaport was play a character
He’s also jewish
@@trabo2yes we can tell and he’s from New York also
Funny Kristy Swanson, who was for unity and diversity in this movie, is a MAGA loser and racist apologist in real life. The roles reversed for Michael and Kristy in real life. Though Michael said shit about MLK about supporting so called terrorism in Israel or something
Happy 50th birthday, Omar Epps! 🥳🎁🎈🎉🎊🎂
When I was younger watching this movie I got Omar confused with Wesley Snipes sometimes. It’s dumb how he reacts to him at 1:40 after insulting him.
"Wassup man?"
Like you just didn't insult me like a dog 😂
Classic movie
I've been called the N word a few times in my life.
Happy Black History Month ! 🖤
Remember Remy's downfall started when Fudge and the rest wouldn't turn the music down. If we would take the opportunity to be kind to our neighbors life would be a little better.
As a former disturbed teenager from the 1990s, I assure you that there was a whole lot more going on in Remy’s life that we the audience didn’t see. For example, Remy kind of implies to the Scott character that his father was abusive.
White Supremacy and KKKs was under the Democratic party.
What's horrifying is how much this film predicted 2016, with the likes of Pat Buchanan, the Alt-Right of the 1990's including Newt Gingrich and pundits like Rush Limbaugh, the same racism that was brought back by these forces made a comeback in the 2015-2016 Election. For years through George W. Bush and Obama we beat this and it was gone, by 2014 it felt like the 1988 Election all over again. So, this film is important for everyone to watch along with Do the Right Thing and Dear White People the film, not to condemn, but to not keep rehashing old wounds and being able to move forward in the 21st Century. We had things figured out from 1992-2000 and 2004-2014 and we should try doing what we did correctly in those 18 years. And from 1964-2014 we had 50 years of Progress and we worked together, let's get that back.
Madness like this is happening right now on campuses with all this division and hate😨😨
Anyone else find it ironic that Michael Rapaport would play a Neo Nazi?
I found it interesting! The first time that I saw him was in Zebrahead. Very different character and then this. After both my ex boyfriend told me about Michael's background. Come to find out that, in real life, he's more like his Zebrahead character. Well that's why they call it acting!
Good scene
This was my introduction to Michael Rappaport and I hated his role in this movie 😂 and in real life. He's the total opposite from this lol. A reap cool dude
How Remy reacted while getting confronted is exactly how many of these trolls online will react if they ever were face to face with someone they're trolling
Lol he come back 3 years after juice more gangsta than pac was
😂😂 funny asl
Now he got fuked up haircut lol
Holy sheep shit Batman this was my favorite movie in the 90s and I watched Higher Learning so many times my VHS tape that it fucked up the cassette and I was literally heartbroken 💔 and traumatized and my life has NEVER been the same since. I felt as though I had been banboosald and hood winked side swipt ot I saidebwiped and I swore my revenge till the day I die but then I just rented one from a movie store and never returned it , so I felt as those everything went full circle. 😎
Happy Birthday Omar Epps!! You & family enjoy, King!

I disagree with Omar Epps regarding Michael Rapaport character haircut. He’s blessed with a great head shape and chisel neck.
Yeah it suits him.

If you bully anybody black kids, boys, and mens at senior high school and college on campus
Calling out their names
And call you out your anykind of names and can't fight back makes you a little punk to act like a little girl get bullied since jr. high middle schools, elementary's and kindergarten from the 9th 10th 4th 5th 3rd and kindergarten
Dr Foreman spitting facts
Sad shit when I was in elementary I thought was a movie until I grew up in the wilderness of a foreign land
I seen this movie
Not only is this dude wrong about a lot of stuff he just said, wearing that t-shirt is gonna make it hard for people to take him seriously.
How?
Nothing he said about Christopher colombus was wrong he was a thief and mass murderer of native Americans the only reason you think its wrong is because of public schools teaching that columbus “discovered America” which was BS

Great actors...
The sad part about this scene
Is that it takes truth and facts
mixed with the confusion
Of an educational system
Ment to guide and teach
Being the facilitator of the confusion
And pain
That continues to run rampant
Amongst many future leaders.
This is an example of the quote
"God should be a part of everything
We do.
God is not the author of confusion
And division.

When I was in prison someone asked me about my German eagle tattoo on my leg. I told them clearly I am not racist because I have many black friends and I also had sexual relationships with black women and black men. So not only am I not racist, I am also queer. None of them cared. ♥ ✌
