@@wwfera00 plumber here. This is what you call tubular. It's a beveld washer and nut that tightens down and creates a water tight seal. It's to make it easily accessible for repairs/ drain maintenance
Clean. Only thing I noticed I do differently is I add a little pipe dope to the threads where you put in the ball for the pop-up.I’ve over tightened a few of those nuts for the pop-up which caused the pop up to not open and close as smoothly as it should. You loosen it a little, and it leaks sometimes. Put some dope around the threads, tighten it up, no leaks and the pop up works perfect.
There are now new drains that does not use those ball in socket type of drain. There are now a “pop up” drain where you push to close and push to open.
One thing I can't stand are those small sink cabinets with the little wooden piece I the middle, my shoulders can't squeeze into a hole 18 inches wide! 😂
@@replumb luckily me and my dad work together so when I am physically unable to do something that's when I let him do something like that, I usually make him put lots of cushioning down before doing anything that might hurt him
@@replumb I get a lot of the old quarter turn clear plastic knob stops by me. Guaranteed to leak every time when turned. If people don't want to replace them, I'm turning off at the meter. No touchy! And the plastic push on stops with the round push pull knob... Yuck. I liked your replacement video on those!
You said he would Replace valves when installing a new faucet?? Why wouldn’t you tell him a new faucet also comes with a new pop up assembly? You would be saving your customer money and a second service by doing it all correctly the first time. Will definitely cost him way more money in the long run. Makes no sense
@@kennethglass353 he doesn’t want to install a new faucet he was simply saying that if the time comes to replace it, he will replace them then. Which I would require in order to replace the faucet anyway. He only wants to fix what is broken and there’s nothing wrong with that. It could cost him more in the long run but that’s his decision. He’s taking the chance on his current faucet and none of us now how long it’s going to last or if he’ll be in the house when it finally gives out. I shouldn’t have to explain this to you but here we are

@replumb I always do it but I'm still pretty novice. Seen a lot of them leaking. I'll start using it on the bottom grommet like that seems like a good insurance policy. Most I've seen don't specify that in the instructions. Don't see how it could hurt 🤷

Yeah I do all threads unless it's a supply with rubber gasket. Most all drain threads. Some manufacturers valves require it on the junctions where it meets the spout. Had that the other day
Have to turn that triggering sound off. Sooo many sped up videos with this kind of aggravating sound like two jack rabbits fighting or a meth head wolf rat chewing inside a wall.

Don't use puddy on a plastic drain kit though I have seen to many crack if it's plastic put plenty of clear silicone on the top part and the rubber underneath (just some cheap insurance , you want make sure it's in the threads also below also) then hand tight plus a quarter turn those plastic nuts break WAY to easy if you use puddy you risk breaking it before it's all squeezed out. And watch out you will get silicone on you.
Puddy, Pipe Dope , Brass pop up, tefone threads , no silicone , perfect , That is exactly the way it should be done great job 🤘🏼
