Perfect video. took me about an hour. Found the belt to be in poor shape and will replace as soon as I can order one. Now that I've had it apart, I estimate the belt being a fifteen minute job.
you can tell this guy is experienced and is teaching you the way you should really do it. I watched a Whirlpool / Kenmore video on the same subject and that guy was no use.

We showed this idler pulley because it was in the dryer we used for the blower video. If you had this idler and it failed you would get the replacement idler with an actual roller. The new part is shown in the idler replacement video. The part information and video are listed on our site under part number AP2911909.

We just spent the last hour and a half taking ours apart only to discover that our blower fan was fused to the axle. We tried everything to get it off and we finally gave up, stuck it back in the linen closet and called it a day... for now. Very frustrating! It would not budge.

Great video! I have a Kenmore dryer and it has absolutely no air flow. I took away the blower housing and washed it completely clean. Before I put the blower housing back on, I turned on the dryer to see if the fan would spin, it does not! The tumble still turns and gets hot though. Please help!

I had a blower wheel that was stuck and I found a trick that worked to remove it. My particular model does not have access to the blower wheel square nut on either side. So, I put a vice grip on the far end of the motor shaft where the hex head is located. I braced the handle of the vice grip against the bottom of the dryer's sheet metal housing and cushioned the contact with an everyday news magazine. Looking from the blower end, the wheel needs to turn clockwise to loosen. So I slowly rotated the wheel counter-clockwise as far as possible, and then quickly spun it clockwise. When the vice grip handle struck the magazine, the wheel's inertia successfully broke the fan loose from the motor shaft. All parts were intact and I removed the blower wheel.

Is there a video of you removing the blower wheel with a chisel? Mine seems to be stuck, so I would have to resort to that. However, I am obviously worried that I may inadvertently damage something else. Is there a video where I can watch it being done before I start shipping away?
Ralph.Wiggum You just have to chisel it off the shaft. it is right in the center of the blower so avoid about a 3/4 inch circle in the center. I have a very tight door 25.5" width and was in the appliance store that the smallest width of Kenmore elect. dryer model WED4815BW and width is 25" ... but the back panel was protruding out about 2" !! I was thinking if I remove the back panel cover and remove the blower duct and may have to remove the heater side in order for the back flat to 25" width ... so I can slide the dryer inside thru door and then re install heater and blower duct.. Do you think if it possible ?
You could also lift the top and remove the front panel, might give you a little more room.
Great info. But, do you mean to tell me that companies are so cheap as to replace the belt tensioner wheel with a slide pad rubbing against the belt instead ? How much can a plastic pulley cost ? Geez ! That belt will wear out much faster rubbing against a nylon pad then simply bending around a rolling wheel ! Is this part of "programmed obsolescence" ? No wonder appliances don't last more than about five years these days !

I've got a Maytag quiet series 100. I took the front panel off for a belt change. when I put it back together, I have 2 wires, one green one blue, towards the bottom that I can't figure out where to put. anybody?

Can tell you without a doubt 7/16 is sloppy on my dryer and if you try to send it on a seized wheel it’s definitely going to wreck the motor shaft soo… use the right wrench

Why can't I just screw the new wheel back onto the threaded shaft and not mess with the motor?
David Bowman When you screw the blower on from the back both the blower and the motor shaft spin. It is always best to snug it down with the wrenches, on the inside of the dryer, to make sure it is not loose.
I cannot get the clip off to access the blower bolt😢

@@appliancepartspros I eventually got the clip odd and back on again after replacing the blower wheel.
While I had it taken apart I replaced the rollers and the belt.
It's working now but there's a slight, rythmic thumping sound as the drum rotates.
It's a lot of work to take it all apart again but I feel like whatever is causing the thumping sound could cause some abnormal wear and tear. What do you think?
