    Your story reminds me back in 2013 the first time I study abroad in a small city in Australia which 180⁰ different from Indonesia. The time that I had to cope with the loneliness, adapting with their culture, even randomly met fellow Indonesian felt like finding a lost long lost sibling. It was a memorable experience being abroad not knowing what to expect.

Thanks man you make me feel less alone. Growing and owning our life as an adult is insanely hard, but the more mature you are the more you appreciate every single thing in life no matter how small, even things you've taken for granted in the past. Now I understand why my parents did what they did and made the mistakes they made. Life can get hard sometimes and nobody's perfect including our parents, people, and us. At the end of the day, we're all just humans who try to do our best with everything we know at the moment. If we find success great, if we fail, we learn, no shame in it. Props to you and your journey! Wishing nothing but best of luck moving forward 💪🏻 🎉

    Awal reformasi (98-2012)

    My husband was grew up there for 25 years since early 90s, the Soeharto era, through 98 riot till 2005. Then he moved KL & Singapore then Bali back to jakarta again then now in we're staying in Jogjakarta. He told me "Jakarta today is slightly softer then when he was there. The 90s and early 2000s era. Not much different, just less preman tukang palak and have busway & MRT. It used to be gangsta. You shoot video on street guarantee rob lol" He said again "The most thing I hate about Jakarta is the traffic jam & the air quality. It worsen than 20 years ago." and then "The most thing I love is the food. Been around the world, & Indonesia none beat Jakarta foods" . "I need peace quite & tranqulity, thats why I'm in Jogja now"

    Patience itself won't be enough. You need to be steadfast as well. Well, that's two different words in English, but we might only have one word in Bahasa Indonesia; which is 'Sabar.' But, 'sabar' itself needs more meaning and more energy to practice especially in Jakarta. Glad you survived all this time. Because for me, I need lots of gratitude for Jakarta. I was building up my career in software engineering in Jakarta, I met my future wife in Jakarta, I rented my first house in Jakarta, and I had my first car (well) in Jakarta. Even when I moved away from Jakarta, I still had my commute to Jakarta. There was a time when I had to commute for 5 hours in total (round trip) from Bogor to Slipi (West Jakarta) in 2019. Thanks to Jakarta, I'm able to build myself up until this very moment. Right now, I'm living in Tokyo. While it's obviously a better city than Jakarta. But I won't forget about Jakarta, I won't be ungrateful for all the lessons I had from Jakarta. Once again, I'm glad you found a meaningful life in Jakarta. And thank you for reminding me about Jakarta.

    Salut à toi !
    Je suis étudiant en Master 2 et j'ai appris y'a quelques jours avoir été accepté pour un stage de 6 mois en tant qu'enseignant de Français à Jakarta.
    Je n'ai jamais eu d'experience à l'étranger et je trouve ça vraiment vertigineux à réaliser et mentaliser .. J'avais une vision assez biaisé de Jakarta que je ne connaisais pas vraiment et que j'associais surement par exotisme à des villes plus connues comme Bankok ou Hô Chi Minh-Ville. J'ai regardé quelques vidéos et je suis assez terrifié par les premiers retours que j'ai eu, voit carrément rebuté..
    Je ne suis peut être pas assez informé mais je réflechis déja à décliner cette offre de stage.. Je freaks out comme on dit . J'ai peur de me retrouver seul pendant 6 longs mois dans un environnement incofotable sans attache ou lien avec quelques français ..
    (je suis également français de parents tunisiens pour l'anecdote haha)

      @mino_baki  Рік тому

      C’est le stage parfait ! 6 mois c’est rien du tout. Jakarta est safe, tu devras juste te préparer à des choques culturelle. Puis sortir de sa zone de comfort n’est pas très facile au début. Mais it’s worth it ! Moi qui ai vécu 9 ans je peux t’assurer que tu ne le regrettera pas ! Tu peux m’écrire en privé si tu as besoin d’adresse ou d’info pour que je facilite ton aménagement à Jakarta ! Best of luck !

    I came to Jakarta 17 years ago from a small town surrounded by volcanoes in all four directions in East Java. I was outgoing and really curious to explore Jakarta when I first came. I got to know people from different cities in Indonesia, from different background and educations. what I learned in the past 17 years living here is; Jakarta provides you with opportunity, but they wont come to your way in a blink of an eye. you must have that determination and drive to never giving up. one of the people I met is a gojek rider and he said to me (that I am fully agree), that you can turn stones into gold In Jakarta, there's nothing impossible if you refuse to give up and you must force yourself to never give up. Jakarta can be friendly, packed with opportunities if only we know where to look for. but Jakarta can also be really cruel and just like you said, Patience is important. and you are also right that patience is how we deal with situations. during my time living in Jakarta, I encountered so many manipulative and cunning people, they mostly take advantage of a trusting and kindness of those who arent coming from Jakarta. and I was - more than once - became the victim of such people; one of them is related to me. and their goal is only one thing - MONEY. It was heartbreaking and frustrating at the same time, but this is how I learned to read people and be careful. during my 17 years living in Jakarta, I can say that I learned to be street smart, theories are sometimes just BS, most theories you learned in college, wont apply when you got into the workforce in Jakarta. so for any of you who wants to make a living in Jakarta, Jakarta welcomes you and will provide for you as long as you know where to look and able to seize any opportunity that comes to your way; there's no second chances in Jakarta. so once you see and aware of one, grab it because it may not coming back for you...

    • @mino_baki
      @mino_baki  Рік тому

      That’s very deep ! And I couldn’t agree more about everything you said. I felt what you said the struggle the hustle that Jakarta offers you is real. You need to be very strong patient and determined to win, because you are competing with lots of people ! I hope wherever you are now that you are healthy and happy and successful ! Stay blessed mate

      Ngga juga sih. After spending almost a decade in Indonesia I met lots of Indonesians people who have their dream life in Indonesia, and most of my Indonesians friends who studied in Europe they always come back to Indonesia. There is some inequality indeed like in every country, however Indonesia is changing and moving forward ✨
