better song than I expected. After I heard The Sea Horses album I stopped listening to Squire. His Roses stuff is transcendant at times. Always makes me feel better after listening to them. If only they could make ammends. One can dream anyway...
@Gregorskorino i would have the same bitternes...he walked out on the roses..they were on the verge on something great...and he jumped ship..ian is the man anyway..listening to this attempt at solo work..seals that for me..
If you actually cared about music you could appreciate this effort even if it's in your opinion unfavourable. Surely it's fascinating to have a little repository of Johns vocal? Even if you don't like it, surely you can value that it's out there in public. As a real fan with burgeoning interest surely it is of interest to have this evidence of John which cannot be erased from history? It's evidently the same musician who created your beloved 2 albums, and the instrumentation is actually far superior here to that of the eponymous Roses album from the 13 years experience and learning since then. There's literally no call for dismissing it or hating it. As for those who say he cannot sing - it's axiomatically incorrect. To sing is to make musical notes with your voice. This he is doing and doing correctly - perfectly hitting the notes. You're actually just dissatisfied with the style of vocal and his vocal tone. He cannot change how he sounds. You're hating somebody for the way they are and the body they live inside? Do you feel like a big-man now? Of course, I bet you're all people who have done something of worth and therefore have the right to unjustly hate without any real argument.
Ian and John need to sort it out. I read that John actually sent Ian a record and Ian thought it was good. But he decided to not put it on his album and he never got back to John. That's sad man, really sad. Surely they can shake hands blame the drugs and move on?

@hoppybhoy71 well if your gonna throw blame about why not start with reni ? something a lot of people conveniently forget. i dont know why cos the guy was as important as any of the others.
Fabulous song from an awful album, only John Squire could write such a heartfelt tribute to 80's pop star Jona Lewis . . . okay I'm joking. Still a great song from a great great guitar player. Thanks for posting it
john lennon abbey road? white album? not bad tune but gota be honest cos we used to him like he is him singing like this is a bit weird n shocking sori john...
Well thats his problem. great guitar player and songwriter and artist but should shove his microphone upon his **** I love John Squire, but for his arts and guitar playing. Long live the Seahorses!
1. What exactly do you think "production" does? 2. Where does he sound bad? 3. Creating a unique approach to vocals is the best option to gain significance as a solo artist
Jordan Warner I like his singing voice and what I meant by production is that might have put to many fx on his voice like reverb and auto tune. When auto tune is used too much it can begin to alter youre volcal tone. The main reason why i think he may have used auto tune is because the song is writen in a key which is too high for him to sing. For example the vocals of i miss you sound great in fact all the other tracks sound great this just lets it down a bit vocaly however a great song with great meaning
I didn't initially didn't like his voice but it grew on me and I definitely like it now....
This is my fave John Squire Song musically. His singing voice is however..ummm an acquired taste. Bring back Roses!
Joe Louis is a tune, dont care what anyone says, and i like both of Squire's albums. Brown's solo stuff is great too.
Been lookin for this for while as I edited it! thx to the director and John S
one of the best melodic guitar solos I've heard in a while
Joe louie happens to be his nephew and my mate thats who he is

Like this song, but he has a lot of reverb/ effect on his vocals

It freaks me out that the head on shot of the singing person doesn't look like or seem like John Squire. Am I the only one?
sounds from Liverpool

@hibeedude08 people like to hate on something when things don't go their way.
Um... sad... but thanks for sharing. It sounds alot like The Small Faces, though.
Was thinking the same thing

not too bad, but seems like he cant decide between making music like Ian Brown or maybe like the Late Suede stuff!
he sounds like a piss poor bowie impersonater on this, suede indeed
Well thats his problem. great guitar player and songwriter and artist but should shove his microphone upon his **** I love John Squire, but for his arts and guitar playing. Long live the Seahorses!
Everythings good in my view, except the voys. Too artificial.
The fact he's moving on artistically, earns my respect.
First time i've heard a squire solo record. Fuck me it's shit.
Squire needs s8nging lessons
Squire stop singing please!!!!
Good music, ....vocals an aquired taste.
Would be interesting if Ian Brown sang this.....
frodo261 i think it was a production thing that made his voice sound this bad because when he sings live it doesnt sound like this
