Where you said "I'm missing a lot of context" where Sua was probably acting out a drama reminded me that DC have made an entire parody of the drama World of the Married which I can really recommend. There's also an unofficial side by side version to see how well they actually did.
Oh and you could say it's 'musical' too as they did the entire soundtrack themselves 😀

i personally love aegyo as long as they're enjoying it, dreamcatcher love to do it on cringe and funny way its hilarious. like on sunny show, sua aegyo are hilarious

The aegyo for me, I found it really strange when I started diving into kpop, especially because I was not really surrounded by so much cuteness before (literally everyone is an introvert here lol), but I got used to it, not really the fan of it still because it is cringe sometimes, but you need these from time to time to brighten your days.
kpop is really popular here since 1st gen, so i don't find aegyo as weird, but when i first discovered dreamcatcher, i find it weird, cause unlike other group where they try to act cute, dreamcatcher actually purposely making it look cringe, they love making others cringe xD
the one & only Sua!!🔥she is best kind of chaotic mess. DC wouldn't be the same. She has quiet moments but mainly energetic she says to keep her self motivated too.Mom sua is funny, Gahyeon listens to no one lol, She was talking to Siyeon in that dorm shot& Yoohyeon has been a victim of mom Sua since their early debut days with Yoohyeon still as a student at that time 😅. Aside from that she really is an all rounder dance, visual,vocal. 👌💜
I think aegyo exists everywhere, but since a word for it doesn't exist, it just isn't called out as a "thing" and isn't hyped up.
kit (insomnicsy) was trying to give different points of view for each version. 2020 version have "fatal" section and for SuA more into her dancing. also "mom" section in 2020 available for JiU while 2021 for SuA.
now kit has released 2022 version for JiU and Gahyeon, if kit release Dami video next, then probably this is 2022 version will be released in order of solo special clip release. also seems 2022 a bit similar for first section with "fatal" but just with different clip and background sound.
Aegyo definitely took some getting used to and it feels weird when it's forced, but when idols are doing it bc they want to and aren't getting pressured into it, it can be a lot of fun.
DC seems to take handle both aegyo and sexy the same; whoever is feeling it just full commits to it and everybody else cringes the whole time lol
I love Sua's aegyo. Siyeon is the aegyo expert in the group because of her mother's influence, but Sua's aegyo has an aggressive edge to it that is all Sua. I know that pronunciation is part of it since they're mimicing little kids who haven't got the pronunciation quite right, but the tone and facial expressions get the point across. Those things are universal in all humans so anyone anywhere in the world will understand it.
Sua saying Bboya is because when she was younger a little boy pronounced her name, Bora, that way and it stuck in her mind. Jiu and the lightstick is an example of her love of making bad puns with sound alike words. She deliberately pronounced it as garbage bong and Sua took up the opportunity to be Sua.
Sua would be my bias, but only at a distance. She said in an interview that she thinks she's the kind of person who makes people around her tired. Jiu, my bias, would be nice to spend time with because she isn't like that. Sua is very fond of soju, as you saw in the clip, and the members have said that when she comes home drunk they don't go anywhere near her. I give you this link to an odd little cooking show that thought having Sua, Jiu, and Gahyeon as guests was a good idea. Natural (and moderate) aegyo is usually ok for me but forced aegyo (the one they used to force idols to do on K tv shows) is painful to watch

As far as aegyo goes, I think it's cute if it matches a person's personality and is not forced. Imho, Siyeon can do aegyo without it being cringe in almost any situation. Dami can do it when she's just having fun but when she has to for a show, it's pure cringe.

Dreamcatcher is the idol group where the unnies are going off the rails and the maknaes have to reign them in. Insomniscy already made the satoori video ua-cam.com/video/up_BkGSW114/v-deo.html. The forced aegyo is cringe to me with a definite possibility of moving into creepy depending on HOW you have grown adults, especially Asian women, acting like small children. There is a lot of natural aegyo among the members that is genuinely cute and believe it or not Dami has the most (she was the makne for the first few years), Siyeon's is strong as well as Gahyeon as expected, as the oldest JiU and SuA keep making efforts to increase their aegyo and stay seeming younger, which NO ONE goes for.

I hated aegyo at first, but I think I’ve watched so much Korean content now I’m used to it. I find it funny/entertaining when those are super into it/good at it do it, and when there’s idols watching their fellow members but totally cringing at it (e.g. Handong). Siyeon’s aegyo is my favourite, I like Sua in mom mode 🤣

@11:35 As someone from central Europe I find aegyo very strange indeed. It feels cringy and also, somehow... wrong? I appreciate that it's part of Korean culture and all that, but I always skip through those parts in any video because to me it feels embarrassing to everyone involved, myself just watching included.

I agree sometimes is hard to watch, but that's why I think it is hilarious seeing the reaction of the members cringing so hard in the back; as long as the person doing it enjoys it and is not forced to, otherwise it just feels wrong.
For me personally aegeo is cringy, but I`m not mad at it as long as it is not forced by company/show etc. If person doing it is having fun - so be it.
