You've just gotten your new Monster IlluminEssence LED kit and you don't know how to set up the LED strip. We're here to help!

The idea of consumer LED strips is a fairly new one, and that sometimes causes some confusion. The good news is that we're here for you to show you exactly how they work. Making sure the strip has power is not entirely straight forward. The important thing to know is that the Monster logo and the LEDs represent the front of the devices, and must be plugged in with both facing the same direction. From there, it's as easy as plugging in the power cord, either to USB or a power outlet (depending on the model you have).
Another common question is whether or not you can cut the strip to length. The good news is that you certainly can. Simply find one of the cut lines (indicated by a clack line through 4 copper connectors) and cut. It is important to remember that once they are cut, they cannot be put back together. The new length is now the maximum length for the strip going forward. Before cutting the length, consider alternatives, such as tucking the end behind something or doubling back the length.

Hugo Martinez There are no custom presets. You can only use the pre-programmed presets on the memory (M) buttons in the bottom right.

my remote is not working at all, i’ve tried everything and i bought two sets of them and even tried using the other remote. holding down the speed button doesn’t pair them or anything. i don’t understand.

For anyone who is having the issue where the strips aren’t working trying flipping the power cable. He says it in the video but it flew over my head. It worked for me once I flipped it to the front with the monster logo
My brother plugged it in the wrong way and got really mad and then i searched this up and it worked and he got super happy with me!!!

Guys just did this hold the remote real close to the connection that plugs into the strip and it will work by instructions, to join the strips get 4pin connectors that snap together you can cut them any place on the strip, just keep the arrows the same.

So the grey part that is plugged into the leds is facing forward

Can they change color by themselves? Is there a setting? Bc on the side of the box it says something abt instant holiday lighting but I just cant seem to figure out how to do that.

So they issue with not working as far as changing colors on multiple sets was simply taking the batteries out remote and then placing them right back in then the colors work instantly after you do this. Worked for both large room and small room set I own with no issue.

So i bought a couple products just recently and have 2 seperate remotes. Ive been completely unable to use either of them. The remotes dont respond at all when trying to pair or unpair. Any tips? (Also i did use new batteries in both).

I bought some today at walmart and we did all the steps exept were the white cord is plugged in to something. We tried a Samsung charger and used the remote to change colors and does none.

I had the same problem but in reality, the part that has to connect to the led lights was turned the wrong way. White part in, sticker out/showing.
love your videos helped me pair 2 sets of led strips and light bulbs to one remote but are there any ways to keep my lights on red? like when i turn my lights on and not have to spend time turning all of them back?

Use your 2.4v cell phone charger plug-in. Worked as soon as I used mine. Turned on immediately. It didnt turn on when I used my laptop.
I kinda wanted a briefing on how to stick it on to a surface.. it’s hard with corners , idk if I can bend it or not..
Instead of doing it on the ceiling do it on the wall at the top right before the ceiling that ay you won't have to make a 90 degree turn you can just bend it the stick it on the other wall

To the best of our knowledge, you can cut the strip shorter but cannot add length. We might be incorrect on that one, though.

Can you connect them to each other to make it longer? I have 2 of the 16.4 ft. Up already and its still not enough. Can the smaller one be added to whats up already?
They can be controlled from the same remote but stringing them together is not an officially supported use case.
This might be a dumb question but can you use the strip with the power unplugged?
You could build a battery pack for them. 5v would probably run on 4 AA batteries.

i need to trim about an inch and two leds to cleanly finish my install where can i make a clean cut? i dont want to cut in the wrong area and short out the entire strip.... is that a possibility or am i looking at a worst case of cutting at the wrong location and losing one led or the one that i am cutting? thanks soo much for the info i appreciate it!!

Across the marked cut lines. There are gold ovals in a straight line with thin solid line down the middle. You can safely cut on that solid black line.
Do these work without being plugged into a power source?
Mine makes a weird high pitch noise and it comes and goes but it stays on for a while then the sound goes away for a few seconds and it just repeats

What trick worked for you? Batteries in the remote, holding the remote to the control unit? Those have been the two most common recently.

Alexis Drury All of the items in all of the kits can be combined in any combination. We have one remote controlling 16 lights in our offices.

I cannot get my strip to go into pairing mode!!! I've held the button down for the 8-10 seconds, unplugged, etc. Nothing works. I can click through basic colors but I cannot get the lights to pair so I can use the app.
Can you program them to your phone without wifi? I have a hotspot but thats my only wifi
This model does not work on Wi-Fi at all. It only works with the remote (though the defect makes even that questionable). For the new model, you have to have an active Wi-Fi connection.
My promblem is that I just bought them they. Were working fine but then the led strip wasent changing color only my light bulb the led strip is only the color of it when it turns on
We've had a number of viewers say that some of the control units work in the beginning and stop after a while. We believe the problem involves a poorly seated chip (likely for the radio) and use unseats the ones that are close. Our recommendation is still to only use the new Smart line bit.ly/MonsterLedStripS

Morgan Elizabeth Cutting it is to make it shorter. It does not make two units as you only have a single control port.

You can pair two to the same remore. You cannot officially power two strips off of a single control unit.

No. You will have cut it, so there is no way to provide power to the piece you cut off.

I just bought these from Walmart the charger didn’t come with it and it doesn’t seem like they get sold separately disappointed. 14 bucks down the drain. Knew it was to good to be true.
When you say charger, do you mean the control unit and power cable or a power block? The block is not part of the unit (most people have many of them already and are available everywhere). The control unit and power cable (one piece) should be in the box. If it was not, you likely had a repacked returned unit. We've been seeing it a lot lately.
How come I bought the large space led mood light kit and 3 led strip mood light kit and neither of them come with the USB port
