This is the exact project I was planning when I became ill. I’m guessing the product you have used is walnut which is what I am edging towards. I would personally go without the lighting as it intended as a cinema screen backdrop. Do you have any contacts in Birmingham?
I'm fitting this exact type of slatting in around an hour's time, so glad I saw your version of fitting them, I stumbled across a couple of others that were awful in their instruction. I think 2 strips of lights for a bedroom, not anywhere else, 4 strips of lights is overkill. Great video.
exactly what i was looking for but a grey slat wall. thank you. i will check out the LED lights and see how expensive they are. The LED lights are really not cheap at all. Might see if Govee or another alternative will work.
Definitely with the lights! I've been tinkering around with some wled addressable lights to create something a little different and have some black LED diffuser channels to hide them in.. this then led me to Home assistant to create automations.. this then led me to have multiple headaches so i think i might just go with the lights you are showing 🤣love your videos pal and will be using a lot of them on our new reno project starting soon! Cheers!!
I've tinkered with wled and ws2805 strips for my slat panels and need black diffusers for finishing with a seamless look. The Aura kit here seems seriously overpriced at £110 for 3 metres. Aliexpress sell the 13mm wide silicon channel for £10-£15 for 5 metres, but I'm worried they will dim/yellow the lights. Any suggestions.
Good video. Is this bright enough for a reading light? Could be a good idea to use the offcuts of panels and cut less LED getting them to lap up onto the ceiling 600mm?
Hey pal. Great video. If we wanted to stick a large mirror on the panels will the sealant suffice for the panels? Or should we also use screws to put the panels in place? It is going on a brick wall, not plasterboard wall. Thanks.
Here's a tip - if you're doing a hole for the socket, before you cut the slats you can put the extra staples needed to keep them secured to the felt (you'll see where they're needed from behind). 🎉
In the video, you say the pack comes with 4x LED strips, but on the website, I'm pretty sure you only get 1. This takes the price to nearly £314. for 3 more LED strips plus a remote control.
Been watching your videos always well made and super helpful love this job well done it looks superb given me some ideas and the confidence to try have a go myself too!!
If you're pulling the back box forward so it may be visible, you will also need to ensure that back box is earthed to the socket. New build houses don't always have back boxes earthed. Looks nice when finished though. The problem with those lights though is if you want a feature wall around say a TV you wouldn't want all those cables and boxes sitting at the bottom of the wall.
Isn't coincidence brilliant? No sooner had I seen this system for the first time ever and right here too, than I hear on the BBC World Service about a new home central heating system using "electric wallpaper." How d'you connect that n how does it work, I ask myself. As if by magic here's the answer. Thanks to 'Sarah n DPD' and many to you too DIY mæstro!
Looks like cell window bars for a prisoner robot of the future. I guess that you could use different led strips pretty much available anywhere nowadays with thousands of colour combinations and dimmable for the perfect bedroom atmosphere.
I was just saying not long ago that it would be amazing if LED diffusers could be black. I was sure that was impossible to do. Now that I know it's a thing I just have to find some that would work in North America. Thanks!!
Yes, the walls will be destroyed, screwing is a better option. I panelled my hall halfway up and a feature wall in a bedroom with mdf I cut into 100mm lengths, fixed it to the wall using lost tite screws into fischer duopower wallplugs, the lost tite screws leave minimal filling and sanding. When filled, sanded, primed and painted the holes can't be seen.
Why not use a double socket spacer (in black) to bring the socket face forward say 15mm? would be a lot less hassle with the same result over moving the back box forward no? I take it the coving sits closer to the wall than the wood panels? Is there a trim option for going round an external wall corner or do you have to create a surgeon-level 45 degree miter join along the whole 2.4m edge :)
@@OldSkoolPGFan also only thing that comes to mind about external corners is smallest brushed metal corner trim to cover the otherwise unsightly corner join. Just an average DIYer here
Where can I buy these I thought about this and realised I need a spacer fixed to the pattress then the socket, my sockets are black so a black spacer would be ideal!
Another option for the socket hole is to make it the same size as the back box then use longer screws to screw the faceplate on. This will be more forgiving for any cutting error and look more finished
Can you tell me where you got the slat panels from? I have ordered samples from a couple of different suppliers but particularly like the colour of the panels you have used.
am I right in saying you get just 1 led strip in the starter kit ? so if you wanted several seperate strips you would need to buy them individually according to their website is £57 a pop. seems pricey and a controller can support up to 4 strips ?
I would never use adhesive on those...when you get fed up, and want to change..replastering the wall will be required when adhesive rips all your plaster off..
How is the connection made between the LED strip between the slats and the cables at the bottom, at 12.17 min on the videos there appears to be a black block with the wire attached that you are plugging into the power lead ?
Hello sir how are you I watch your videos I am also subscribed to your channel you are very good engineer electrical engineer well I have bought a light online which has aluminum base behind solid light led Light is for caustic slot panel pls tell me how can i increase its length how can I couple it by connecting to each other.
Millions of dollars have been spent removing wood paneling from homes that were built in the 70’s and 80’s. Now someone has invented a product to add it back in! 🤣
Nice project, I like the idea... but honestly, I can see at the top where one panel ends and where next one starts. on multiple panels...there is a 5 mm maybe even 1 cm between them... I'm just saying, maybe you put the blade on the wrong side of the line. overall, nice looking, nice project, awesome LEDs.
GLORY!!!'m favoured, $140K every 3weeks! And I am retired i can now give back to the locals in my community and also support God's work and the church. God bless America🇺🇸❤️
I personally do not like the led, I like the panels though although I did see they were £75 in b and q today which is steep for what they are. I think they would suit a home office though.
With or without LED lighting, What do you think?
I'd say without but you can't tell when there off so I'd say whatever the wife wants too be safe 😂
With LED!
Definitely with!! That’s given me some ideas!! Good work sir!!

Personally, I'd sooner have them horizontally, independently controlled, and RGB so I can adjust for mood.
2 hours before you uploaded this video I was researching how to do EXACTLY this. Your video is the most informative and helpfull BY FAR.
Glad I could help!

Looks cool! Probably worth noting that materials alone for this cost around £800 alone + labour.
That looks great, I think light strips would look great in the slat wall I plan on putting in my office.
Do it, they look great 😊
I'm gonna do this. Was already looking and UV just shown me the way 🎉
Looks great with the LED's. And well explained as usual 👍
Better DIY than stuff I've seen for sale.
That looks so cool!! Great install. Def with lighting.
Perfect timing, I have just bought some of these, ready to install into my garden room as a feature wall
Good video. Is this bright enough for a reading light? Could be a good idea to use the offcuts of panels and cut less LED getting them to lap up onto the ceiling 600mm?
Thanks for another good video. Please could you let us know where you bought the panels from? I have noticed that some look a bit on the cheap side

Great video but screwing the panels to the wall is a better option than using adhesive if for whatever reason they are removed from the wall.
I have no-fines wall, I'm not drilling in that.
@@BigyetiTechnologiesI had that in my first home. Couldn't hang anything on the walls. Everything was adhesive or no hanging 😂
@BigyetiTechnologies whatever works for you. Drilling worked for me but your case is different.
Cleaning them must be a joy 😆

My man again quality video nicely explained step by step 👌🏻👏🏻 what silicone did you use or recommend is CT1 a bit overkill ?
CT1 is a bit overkill but it is a good product! I was using stixseal

I'd probably do my own strips and profile, and source a sensibly sized power supply for them. Then attach to an off the shelf remote dimmer control.
Sounds good 👍
Thank you for your video! I like to have LED lighting.
Thanks for watching! 😃
But will you be able to plug anything in those sockets now? I thought UK plugs were all 90 degrees?
Yeah, no issues so far with the stuff we have plugged in.

Awesome😊
Halfway through. Such a great video!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Absolutely amazing

Great video. Thank you.
Glad you liked it!
Definitely with the lights
I think so too
What contact adhesive would you recommend? Something like CT1?
How long are the cables on each light strip please? Wanting to fit slat wall to battens and run cables behind to one central point with driver in unit
Looking to do this myself mate but how can i put the LEDs in with the only available plug is behind the TV which is wall mounted? Cheers
Good video. However, slat walls are so common now. I’ve installed loads for customers, I think they look like hotel rooms.
If you wanted to take the panels down, would the adhesive damage or leave any marks on the wall?
It's better to use screws, if you want to take them down later on.
Can you do a video on how to make a pelmit?
Where can i buy tye led

Not just me then! 😬
Well spotted, the wall heights are probably inconsistent making it hard to judge the lengths of each panel.
Cheers. It’s due to the coving being all over the place. If you cut the panel to the coving it makes each panel slightly different.
