In absolute shock about the news of Ray’s passing, I’ve loved his work for years. 13th Legion!!!
Let's hope Ahsoka is a worthy send-off for him.
13th!! 🥺
@@scorpioproductions7068 lmao
Only know him from Rome. Way too early! 13th Legion!!!
XIII !!!
Ray Stevenson has been absolutely brilliant so far in Ahsoka. A truly one of a kind talent who will be sorely missed. Rest in peace.
Probably one of the most interesting character in the past decade. I am so happy and also very sad. Happy that he got to play this absolute badass and a character with such depth and mistery, and sad that he didnt get to see how much the fans loves him. Next year's celebration would've been a moment he would never forget.
He will be rememberd, sorely missed and never forgotten...
Yeah I couldn't agree more. Ray felt like the one who carried the entire show in Ahsoka as Baylon.
Nobody could ever play Thrawn as incredibly as Lars Mikkelsen.
Yup and Disney clearly know that otherwise they would of casted some else
He is actually in a Danish star wars fan film that came out like 2 months ago called shrouded Destiny
He also just looks like a slightly older version of him

Tons of better people
Didn't expect this interview to be heartbreaking just a month later. Ray Stevenson showed so much excitement for his role talking about how thrilled he was for it. Can't believe he's gone at only 58, only a few days from his birthday. He looked so good too. :(
🙏🙏🙏
Yea... I lost a great uncle of mine a few months back and he looked healthy and energetic 😢
May the force be with you, Ray Stevenson. Rest in peace 🙏
Indeed. Just because he played an evil Mandalorian in Clone Wars and Rebels doesn’t mean the force isn’t with him. May the force be with you Ray Stevenson.
I'm so happy for Ray Stevenson to be in this and Lars getting to reprise his role as Thrawn is gold.
Glad to see Titus Pullo back again.
@@currahee1782 Thirteeeeeeeeen!
@@currahee1782 Dude, somebody gave Pullo a lightsaber? That cant go well...
Hell yeah, and supposedly Kevin McKidd may return as live action Fenn Rau.
just heard the news, i'm devastated
So now both of the Mikkelsen brothers get to be in a live action Star Wars, thats pretty cool honestly
I'd love to see them share the screen together eventually
Perhaps they have interacted sometime before "Andor".
Imperials too
As a fellow dane and Star Wars fan this makes me really chuffed! lol -We are a tiny nation of only 5.8 million ppl yet we punch above our wheightclass at an international scale! Being such a small country makes us very likely to run into one another; I actually used to work at a gas station decades ago where Mads Mikkelsen would come by frequently with his family... At that time he was only known in danish movies and hadn't hit the international scene yet... neither hed Lars.... but they were big celebrities in our eyes none the less.
-Sorry for tooting my own horn here! lol
Now I'm wondering if Thrawn and Galen ever interacted
He seemed healthy and in good spirit in this interview , can't believe he is gone :/
Same :/

So lovely to see so many people instantly coming here and paying their respects to Ray
Rewatching this hits different after todays news… you will be missed Ray…this community loves you❤️
Watching it a couple weeks ago was just incredible, seeing how excited Ray was...now it's so sad and heartbreaking to watch 😭
🙏🙏🙏
to those who dont know. Lars Mikkelsen and Mads Mikkelsen are real life brothers and some of the finest, best actors coming from Denmark. we are very proud of them here.
Ironic
His brother helped create the deathstar
I was wondering if they were brothers I was going to Google that after watching this interview very interesting both of them have played a part in Star Wars
indeed they have. mads mikkelsen was in star wars some years back.. i think it was the one called rogue one if im not mistaken. @@jamesrein648
the first movie i ever saw with mads is “the green butchers” and i loved it (this was over 20 years ago). my mom’s family is danish.
it sure is a classic. its called " de grønne slagtere" in danish. its hilarious 😀@@brenneallen286
Ray was perfect for this role and honestly one of the best new Star Wars characters in a long time. Rest in Peace, Ray.
Lars Mikkelsen is indeed the perfect choice to play Thrawn in live action
He is actually in a Danish star wars fan film that came out like 2 months ago called shrouded Destiny
I'd was hoping that it would be Donnie Yen to play as Thrawn but Lars is great since he has The voice of The character.
@@davidfrederiksen3185 Interesting find!
@@zanfear im happy that you enjoyed it
The perfect choice would be to stop crowbarring lame stories into a Universe of rich history and fantastic original Lore.
Baylon Skoll is such a great character. It’s such a shame that Ray passed on
Lars' expression throughout (particularly when they start all cheering) combines both joy and bewilderment at what he's gotten himself into.
Buckle up, Admiral, you're in for a helluva ride.
True - I think Lars had an idea about how people think and feel about Thrawn, but in typical danish fashion his mind is saying: "he's a villain, they're not going to cheer for a villain"...
I don't know if he has read the Thrawn trilogy, but he has no clue as to how beloved a SW villain character Grand Admiral Thrawn is... Much of it by his own doing, for voicing Thrawn absolutely perfect in Rebels... He is getting a small taste of it now though, it'll be crazier after we see him in Ahsoka (if the writers do right by his character)...
He’s like “is this how my brother feels?”
He has no idea what he signed for .
@@MaximusMeridiusDK most Danes are, in general, very modest, cause we have kind of an unwritten social rule that says "you are not better than the crowd", basically, Danes hate people bragging, think most people do, but still, actually, it's like that in all of Scandinavia, equality and modesty.
@@ncard00 the Law of Jante right?
I knew it would be bittersweet to rewatch this interview after Ray's passing, but I wasn't prepared for how healthy and excited he looked, the way he lit up every time the audience cheers, the way he praises the entire production and the culture of curiosity and cooperation that Dave fosters. He was so happy to be such a significant character in SW, it's heartbreaking that he never got to see how universally beloved his performance was, a feat almost never achieved in SW.
I hope we get a lot of books about Baylan Skoll so Ray can continue playing him, if only in our imagination.
I was happy to see that he actually did get to feel the love of Star Wars fans in person.
Rest in Peace, Ray Stevenson.
Dang man. Ray was so stoked to be a part of a live action star wars series. I cried when i learned the news.
Rest in Peace Ray Stevenson... 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻We will always remember you 😭💔
These two are legends, can't wait to see them in the show.
The force works in mysterious ways, rest in piece Ray Stevenson🕊️
Loved Ray Stevenson in most things he's been in, he played an absolute beast Blackbeard in Black Sails. The man knows how to dominate a scene, and play someone who just 'feels' big and powerful. It's all in his sense of presence.
Precisely this. His first performance I watched was in Dexter and I was looking forward to every scene with him, he completely made that entire season in my eyes, such a commanding presence on screen. A villain that you end up loving just because of the acting. Having watched most of his work by now, I'm certain he is a great choice for this.
@@hopelessnecromantic2794 haha Pullo, back in formation 🤣🤣🤣

THATS WHY SAXONS VOICE IS FAMILIAR sorry I've watched black sails
It's Amaizing to me as a 55 year old, who was 7 years old and seen the first Star Wars, and now to see all the Love for a " Story" can unite us all.
If you are 55 now, you would have been 9 or 10 years old in 1977, not 7. (May the Force be with you.)
Amazing* not the letter “i”

Lars Mikkelsen's performance in rebels made Thrawn my favorite Star Wars character, even answering interview questions he sounds like a tactical genius.
This is the greatest casting ever.
Wrong show, but this is the freaking way!
@@madelinegarber7860 Well one of them is a mandalorian so it applies

Especially if you were introduced to Ray Stevenson as Titus Pullo.
Or the most useless casting ever for a needless story that will probably be more shootemup than anything Star Wars

The fact that lars still said Sherlock despite the interviewer saying moriarty made me grin uncontrollably
It’s even funnier when you realize Lars Mikkelson once played Charles Augustus Magnussen opposite Benedict Cumberbatch’s Sherlock. He was essentially a Moriarty 2.0 loosely based on another Sherlock villain lol. How fitting.
Timothy Zahn, creator of the Grand Admiral himself, also pointed to Sherlock as as inspiration along with Alexander the Great and Hannibal Barca IIRC so he’s done his homework probably.
I was so happy to hear that because that's exactly who thrawn reminded me of too, I've got the whole Sherlock Holmes collection and thrawn is my favourite star wars villain
You are one with The Force and The Force is with you, Ray Stevenson. Rest in peace.
He's one with the force now, rest in peace

Much love to Ray Stevenson you left us with an incredible performance rest in peace
I've been an admirer of Ray Stevenson since his performance as Titus Pullo on Rome. I've wished him nothing but the best in his career since.
The excitement radiating off of Ray is just awesome. Also the god honest look on Lars’ face of pure happiness just warms my heart.
Ray knocked his performance out of the park in Ahsoka!
Yeah a when I saw the trailers I thought he was just gonna be some random inquisitor like reva or something I’m glad that I was wrong

May your soul be resting easy. And thank you for one of the most legendary performances ever. 😔🙏🏽❤️
Coming off the back of Ashoka Ep4. Ray, thank you 💔
Love for Ray ❤
Man he was such a cool guy in everything he did
Rest In Peace Ray, You will be missed.❤
Ahsoka truly is a masterpiece!! I enjoyed every second of the tv series!!!
And now I’m wishing I’d been able to get tickets to see the guys on the Saturday, was only there Friday and Sunday… would have been an honour to see Ray before he passed
I have been a fan of Ray's for a long time. His take on Edward Teach(Blackbeard)in Black Sails was a tour de force...After watching the latest episode of Ahsoka, I can't help but wonder what could have been. His portrayal of Baylan has been beyond fantastic...Stoic, conflicted, skillful and such a nuanced performance....I personally think he's been the highlight of the show so far, especially after watching the latest episode....The great news is that despite our loss on the corporeal plane, we can watch this performance digitally forever...For our friend Ray...
The Mikkelsen brothers are both incredible at playing villains.
They are, only problem with Mads compared to Lars, his english accent is awful, sorry, but can't take it when somebody isn't at leadt trying to mimic an american accent in general, and only british when they have to, like Lars playing Thrawn, it's really not that hard.
Ray is clearly excited, its so sad that he passed so soon. I love his character.
Rest in Piece great Ray Stevenson. May the force be with you
I am so incredibly stoked for Baylan Skoll and Shin Hati. They give off that vibe of the Dark Jedi from Legends EU, like Desann, Tavion, and Jerec. I cannot WAIT to learn more about them
I keep wondering if Ray's character is gonna be Joruus C'Baoth or the equivalent of another clone dark Jedi.
@@Shadoweclipse1386 that'd be WILD

Great news! Lars Mikkelsen voiced Thrawn perfectly in Rebels, excited to see him portray the live action Thrawn role in Ahsoka 👏👏👏👏
I'll watch anything that Ray Stevenson is in. He'll always be the best Punisher to me. And the voice of Grand Admiral Thrawn will be playing the live action version. I am really excited for the Ahsoka series now
Yeah I really liked his character in book of eli that character has always stuck with me when I think about the movie or the actor
Rest in Peace, Ray😢

Rest in peace Ray ❤
Rest in peace Ray, was looking forward to seeing you in Ahsoka. Titus Pullo!
Ray, you are the BEST in the Ahsoka series.
Rest in peace Ray
I was here for this, it was electric! For context, the Ahsoka panel had just finished and none of us had signal at the Live Stage - so when Lars was introduced it was the first time we were hearing about him returning to Thrawn.
That must have been awesome! I clearly went on the wrong two days. 😅 (But yes, the signal in the halls was terrible...)
@@sdimerc5571 I think it was deliberate they didn't show the panel at the live stage. They showed an extended trailer where we got to see Thrawn from the front and Lars came out on stage afterwards, receiving the standing ovations and screaming cheers he so much deserved. I have never screamed so much in my life. As a Dane myself it was an incredible experience to take part in and be able to show the love for an actor whose career I have followed since the early 2000s. They were very clear though. that the trailer was only for those at panel. And it was incredible, I might add! Too bad we very likely won't get to see it again. Unless they release it when the show starts.
Rest in peace Ray Stevenson!
Go well, Ray. XIII forever.
Two incredible actors. Cannot wait to see them in their respective roles. Lars as Thrawn in particular has me super excited.
Both proved worth the wait
Man why did he have to pass away such a great actor.
What an incredible actor Ray Stevenson was. He was perfectly cast as Baylan Skoll and will be incredibly hard to replace. Rest well and thank you.
The way Lars eyes light up the minute the interview shifted to him and the audience goes wild!
1:58 He said it in Thrawn voice 😂 Love it
No that's just his voice, its why he's perfect
Thrawn must then be a Viking 😂
Ray you did a fantastic job. You will be missed greatly.
It'd be nice to get Kevin Mckidd as Fen Rau in live action in a scene with Ray Stephenson as a little Pullo and Vorenus Rome reunion.
I’ve been saying this for ages. Loved Rome and love how the two best friends in that voices rival Mandalorians
@@sr7129 Rome is one of my favorite shows of all time! Tobias Menzies was Gar's little brother I think, can't remember his first name he used the Dutchess Machine on the Mandalorians, he was Brutus in Rome.

I’ve loved Ray Stevenson since HBOs Rome. Pullo was a generally happy go lucky guy, until he was crossed, and then a colder more bloodthirsty character could not be found. I’m really looking forward to seeing him in Ahsoka.
I could listen to Thrawn talk all day. His voice is so relaxing to listen to

Sorry very sad he passed, he acted the role beautifully, i saw him live and it was shocking to hear he passed not too long after celebration. He seemed so healthy and so happy. 😢

Absolutely perfect. Those cheers say it all. My hype level is now off the charts. I was not expecting to be overwhelmed by the shere amount of villain awesomeness on my screen right now!
I wish Ray got more cheers and love here, im excited to see your work sir, may you rest in peace, you loved a wonderful fulfilling life.

Unsurprising because it was a new character at the time. If only he could have seen the fans react to his character now...
Rest In Peace Ray Stevenson.
he seemed so healty...real shame
Lars and Ray are such amazing actors in their own right. And I love the roles they are playing. Ray's Baylan Skoll has SUCH a presence that dominates every scene he is in, only topped by Lars' character of Thrawn, who's presence dominates the scene even more. Which is crazy to think about. They are such amazing actors, and it sounds like having worked with Dave Filoni and the Ahsoka show, it sounds like it must've been SO much fun and wholesome moments. You could almost grow envious of such a team effort.
It is such an incredible shame that Ray Stevenson passed away at the age of 58. God, he had SO much more to give, so much more to show from his amazing talent.
Ray Stevenson will be remembered as the fantastical great actor that he was, and will be loved by the fans of this community for as long as time exist. Rest in peace, Ray. Rest in peace.
