Diego not letting Hayden lessen his role with "No, its THE character!" is very sweet. I am glad the current generation of Star Wars fans have shown Hayden that he is loved by the Star Wars community.
The prequels had great ideas, just clunky dialogue. I am not trying to throw George Lucas under the bus, I just wish he would have had someone tighten the scripts up. I believed Anakin was on his way to becoming Darth Vader in his 3 minutes of screen time in Obi wan than I did the entire Attack of the clones & revenge of the sith films
He should be given a chance at a great film and great script finally! Maybe he already has and I haven't seen it yet, but still... Always felt bad for him in how the prequel stuff went down.
Hayden needs his own podcast if he doesn't have one already. He's a great interviewer. I'm so glad he's getting the respect he has deserved for so long. It's about damn time.
The way Diego is looking at Hayden is making me emotional. He looks to be in disbelief and in complete awe that he's having this conversation with Hayden. This is magic.
@@Tonycillian5 George Lucas actually mentioned on the dvd bonus disc (i think for Episode III) that he saw that look in him - those James Dean qualities. dark, quiet, but rebellious... which is why he thought he would have been great for the part.
I love that Hayden is able to just sit in silence and listen carefully to everything Diego has to say. He has arguebly the biggest role in the series between the two but never makes the conversation about himself. Such a humble guy
im so pissed he got the hate for the movie so long ago, when kids like me at the time wore Anakin haircuts from 3rd movie and he didnt know how every kid around the world was so obsessed with the series. I very often watched Jumper with him as well, loved that movie!
@@kptmaci4979 lol I liked Jumper too. It's up there with Back to the Future Very original ideas that never got it's praise because the fan community is very shallow in taste and open mindedness. Not to mention it's heavy handed need to indoctrinate identity politics.
@@s1d3k1ckROcould easily still get a sequel with Hayden getting a daughter or something. Kill off Bilson’s character offscreen tho she can’t act ruined the first film for me.
Indeed, you can really see that he’s quite starstruck when he listens to what Hayden says, and the fact that he never interrupted him just shows the amount of respect that he has for his counterpart :)
What about the toxicity of the film industry? Let’s not pretend much of media was critical of the him. It just eventually shifted all onto Jar Jar and then the Fans. I think he just knows negativity gets attention in this industry and is grateful for and tries to focus on the positive. Love both these guys. We got to see what Vader would look like if he didnt lose his limbs. Anakins outfit from RoTS and the red lightsaber looked absolutely awesome. Brought the two characters together into 1 for me.
Totally, like he represents not only a character. He has become a symbol. A symbol for generations. An Icon!! He's a legend, the one who got to represent the legend, the myth. A very wide amount of all star wars' meaning we can see it in Anakin/Vader's arc, so.. he interpreted he most important character of all cinematographic history, not an ordinary thing
Hayden really comes off as someone who's been through their "Heroes journey" Dude had it rough in the early 2000s and I'm really glad to see him back in Starwars getting the love he deserves. Props to Diego too, dude is very lovable.
Hayden deserves a Vader series. He's just the kindest and sweetest person in real life (Ewan has said this multiple times), so the fact that he can play dark and twisty that well is proof that he's a strong actor. Edit: Hayden's massively popular to audiences. That coupled with strong writers can help to reverse this trend of decreasing viewership at Lucasfilm.
@Andrew I think most fans would stay interested with a dark and tormented Vader. Absolute no to a campy Vader, though. If they're going to do that, then better not to have a Vader project at all.
@@chineseobama6043They did do Vader perfect in Kenobi though. Only thing they couldve done better is letting Vader actually kill Reva. Other than that they did him perfect
For real! I mean that corner of Star Wars that the team behind andor isn’t very well explored yet with the intrigue and the espionage so it’s kind of unique so far of what we’ve been shown in a galaxy far far away
Yeah people always say "Andor is going for something very different than Mando/Obi/etc." Which yes that is 100% true, Andor is far more serious than Mando and it's good for shows to have their own identity. But in terms of a pure dialogue and character writing level, there is simply no excuse for Andor to completely outclass their other shows. The characters in other SW Live action shows, even cool characters like Mando, feel like they aren't actual people talking but robots
@@moneykenny119 Yeah but character driven storytelling is hard. Why not just make a bunch of expensive CGI barf and terribly rushed fight scenes to make people feel like a story was told or characters did anything.
@@nickv1212 I agree with you fully but thats almost not what im referring too. Mando is always gonna be an action setpiece first show, and thats okay. But putting aside character development or even a character driven story, im talking about how the actual words said in conversations in Mando (esp season 3) are just so bland from a dialogue standpoint (its like Video Game dialogue). Mon Mothma talking to a random, nameless banker in Andor shouldn't have more thought provoking and engaging lines of dialogue than Mando and Bo Katan talking about the plight and genocide of their culture and people, but the Mothma conversation very much does
@@moneykenny119 That's Tony Gilroy for you. I heard he fought hard to not have the dialogue be watered down for a perceived wide audience that "wouldn't understand". Hearing the man, the myth, the legend himself, Hayden Christensen say that Rogue One was one of his favorite Star Wars films must have been the highest validation Diego Luna could have possibly ever dreamed of having. This is so wholesome.
As an OS fan that's why I don't even consider the prequel movies canon. TCW Anakin and how he is portrayed as an über Chad who slowly descended to the Dark over many seasons was just head and shoulders above the three prequel toy commercial stories of a winy emo kid who hates sand gone bad. Episode 5 of Ahsoka just proves it, Hayden harnessed that Alpha Chad (Vader) TCW Anakin personality instead of the sad helpless prequel Anakin (he even walked and talked with the same cadence and confidence in that episode as Anakin in TCW!). It helps that Filoni was the one calling the shots in that episode. Proof they need to retcon Episodes I-III with Favreau / Filoni / Gilroy at the helm.
Hayden has aged like the finest wine on earth. Plus, his personality, brilliance and humility remains. There will never be a day that I'm not awestruck by this man. ❤️
hayden honestly feels just like a guy in the best way possible. you have diego here like geeking out and showing his passion and it feels like a student talking to the master type of thing where diego is a sort of newcomer to star wars talking to darth vader himself but darth vader is just this calm and articulate dude who's willing to talk and share and celebrate both their wins
These are two gentle men with silent strength who have reverent respect and excitement for each other. Hayden is a superb listener and knew exactly when to step in. I could feel Diego trying to reel in his nerdy excitement and fan boy'ness. This was immeasurably joyful to watch. Both so well spoken
as a fellow Mexican I'm first utterly proud and thankful to have Diego here, as a Star Wars fan this exchange meant so much to me. The acknowledgement both give each other and the attentiveness they showed speaks volumes about how much they care and respect their stories. This was such a treat, thank you @Variety 🥰
I hadn't learned of Diego before I saw him in Rogue One. That just made me realize how brilliant he is. And then came the Andor series. I have loved Hayden as Anakin since I was little. But I love Cassian Andor as much as I love Anakin Skywalker. Truly amazing actors with unbelievable talent. Bravo mes amis
I do believe that the way the public reacted to Hayden's Anakin had a lot to do with how introverted he is these days- you can see in this interview even how he's constantly redirecting questions towards Diego and letting him expand on his answers, giving him the space to do so. He's such a humble, wonderful person, I'm glad he's getting to experience all the love people have for him and this character. It's what he deserves.
Well to be fair, Hayden's career went nowhere after StarWars, so it's not like he can mesmerize Diego with stories of his other glory roles. It's a bit awkward given how badly written the prequels were and how widely revered Andor is in terms of writing. He can't risk sounding pretentious about objectively bad writing. Diego so far is slightly on the up compared to Hayden and doesn't have negative backlash history attached to him. So there's no choice but to give Diego the mic, because he's the more interesting person.
@@starkiller007 The prequel stories weren't badly written at all, what was badly done was George's directing of the dialogue. In Episode 3 DVD behind the scenes, Lucas even says Hayden kept giving Anakin this edge in his delivery and energy in both Episode 2 and 3, and Lucas said every time he had to stop him, have a talk with him, and have him dry all that out and shift it because Anakin doesn't "become bad or edgy til later". Which to me is a very one dimensional approach on the character's delivery. Much like if it was up to Lucas, Han Solo would've said to Leia "I love you too", instead of "I know", which wasn't in the script. Luckily for Episode 5, George wasn't the director, and apparently he hated that line when he saw Han deliver it in a screening, it wasn't until he saw how favorable it was with a test audience did he change his mind. George should've been in charge of the story and direction of the character arcs, but directing was never his strong suit. Which is why the dialogues in the prequels are so clunky.
@@matthewj3892 In general the stories aren´t that bad but they have a few abysmal plot holes. George Lucas seem to be the only author that doesn't know his own work, because in each new movie he introduced elements that contradicted the previous one. The plot keeps changing in his mind but he forgets that he has already committed to one version that is out in the public. He is a perennial revisionist, who still haven't decided who shot first. The movies are plagued with these inconsistencies. The introduction of the midichlorians almost single-handedly destroyed the mysticism of the OT. There was no need to reintroduce R2 and C3PO, in the prequels, although Lucas wanted them to be the narrators of the saga but their inclusion felt forced. To make Anakin a boy in the first movie was a misstep. The age difference between Amidala and Anakin was creepy. And so on.
You’re spot on with Lucas being a revisionist and I think that’s really to his and the films detriment sometimes (though other times it’s not. I think the ESB special edition is a vast improvement on the original in pretty much every way but the other 2 are 50/50) however there isn’t any plot holes in the Prequels I don’t think you can say that. Retcons sure but there’s nothing plot breaking. And midichlorians didn’t ruin the OT. Everyone misunderstands them but the concept of the force being tied to genetics was always there. Luke says “the force is strong in my family” and that’s evidently the case. Midichlorians also aren’t the force. They’re a life form that live off it and are extremely prevalent in its presence which perfectly fits with Obi-wan saying how it penetrates and binds all living things together. And the final misconception is that it doesn’t measure strength in the force but potential and it’s still training, mind, effort and determination that makes you strong in it. Anakin had a higher count than Yoda but was never more powerful or knowledgeable than him. So yeah just wanted to say that specifically because I’ve never had a problem with midchlorians personally and don’t get why people do. It doesn’t even effect anything either tbh. And on top of that it just makes perfect sense and fits in with everything we know about the force imo. But I’m 100% in agreement with you on the shooting first lol. Definitely should have just stayed Han. And at least the theatrical version of ANH should always be available considering the milestone in cinema it was. The 3PO and R2 is a bit of a coincidence and makes the galaxy feel small but tbh I do kinda like the concept of the wondering narrating droids that witness everything. It’s very odyssey like and it doesn’t break anything per say, it’s just extremely unlikely, but will of the force yk lmao
I was listening to this and the more it went on the closer I was to tears. Hearing both of them reaffirm each other, being so humble, and admiring each other's work was really beautiful. And it also gave me reaffirmation in my love for their work and their characters. To know they felt the same way just made me feel so connected it brought me to tears.
Diego's passion and love for the franchise is absolutely incredible. He's geeking out over being sat down with Anakin. and i think that resonates with all of us. and that line about "its THE character" just shows what star wars means to people that grew up with it in their lives. brilliant interview

Hayden has finally been given a worthy script, and proper direction as Anakin Skywalker in ep.5 of Ahsoka. His maturity as an actor combined with such a better opportunity has given us a refined performance, and such a complete version of this character. I hope this opens the door for more roles for Hayden going forward. Lucas had so little interest in meaningful dialog or performance in the Prequel trilogy - it was more an experiment in new special effects; which left most of the performances two dimensional. Now we see that Hayden has the chops!
Thats a closed minded view of the prequels. True, Lucas isnt the greatest director, and his dialogue can get cringeworthy, BUT, the performances were still top notch, especially from Hayden. Even at his youngest, he's always been a stellar actor. He was amazing in the prequels, and didnt deserve the hate he got. Nobody could have brought Anakin to life the way Hayden did.
Hayden had amazing acting ability since his break out role in Life as a House. George Lucas is just a bad director and script writer and the Star Wars fans are insufferable nerds and probably super pissed the main character was a really good looking twilight looking heartthrob and not an older meathead they had in their head
Could not concur more. Hayden has so much to give. Whether it's as General Skywalker or peak Vader or force ghost Anakin, if they set the right stage it could be an opportunity to add incredible new layers of depth to not just the story, but the universe. It's great to see how Diego seems to get Hayden as not just the character but also a fellow actor and human being. What a combo.
The way that Diego Luna looks at people when they're talking is one of my favorite attributes a person could have. You can tell that he is the type of person who, if you're talking--no matter what it is about--he will be 100% focused on you. This is always a beautiful thing to see in a person
I don’t know Hayden Christensen gives me what you would imagine a perfect leading man would look like. Has the look, height, voice everything. Really hope he starts acting more he’s so underrated. And Diego he’s a legend one of the best Mexican actors ever.
I just rewatched Attack of the Clones after watching some Clone Wars and Rebels, to see how it compared, and Hayden's accent (Anakin's) made it almost impossible to watch. It took about 6 sittings. I blame the directing; at his age then he needed to be guided related to that not working. The rest is good, even most of his acting.
Excellent is a pretty strong word. Honestly even okay is kind of pushing it lol. Not saying he’s a bad actor in general but at least in the prequels he just did not do a great job, I’m sure part of that was due to script and direction though. He did a way better job in the Obi wan and Ahsoka shows
2:15 when Hayden finished his response, you can clearly sees he really not self-centered person, and very listening to people. Gotta say, Hayden is such a gentle soul. Just look at his eyes from that point on at Diego, he just really give all his attention to the other person on the room. Respect to Hayden.
Rogue One is really good. I did not understand the hate it got when it came out. I felt bad that I didn't watch it in theater. It's my second favorite after episode 3.
The look on Diego's face as Hayden is talking about coming back to the role of Anakin/Darth Vader is so pure 😍 "he's not just a character...he's THE character" that line made my heart glad ❤️
Hayden Christensen deserves so much an Emmy's nomination, especially after everything he's been through as Anakin. This guy made a whole generation dream. I so hope he will get it🤞🤞🤞
I always disagreed with how people perceived his performance in rots like it was campy..I always thought it was really solemn, stoic and haunting. One of the best acting performances I like
@@DanielLopez-fj9yzYeah I especially love the end confrontation with Padme and Obi Wan because Hayden really showed how twisted and sick Anakin was and being able to handle very weak dialogue like that just shows what a great actor he is
@@Tonycillian5 George Lucas was notorious for just giving bare minimum direction for dialogue delivery because he made sure the people he hired were what he had in mind for those characters. That speaks a lot because he trusted the actors with these roles to bring them to life
An Emmy nom for Obi Wan? Yeah idk about that. Don't get me wrong Hayden is a good actor and was unfairly put through hell, but Emmy nom for a drama show? The casts of Succession/BCS/Andor absolutely put out far, far better acting performances it's not even close really. Same with Ewan, an incredible actor, but his performance in Obi-Wan is not exactly Emmy worthy imo. Ewan deserved the Emmy for Fargo for sure though he killed it there. This isn't me saying Hayden isn't an Emmy worthy actor, he very much could be and I hope he gets to prove himself in more roles, but just not this time imo
Hayden is so humble. He keeps asking Diego about his experience and clearly is listening well. Both of these guys are class acts and fantastic actors. Love both of their roles in the Star Wars universe and really enjoyed this conversation between the two! Also Rogue One and Andor were the two best Disney made Star Wars pieces.
31:58 the whole speech Hayden gives to Diego about his contribution and work really hits me, the face of Diego in disbelief, "MAN, Hayden, Anakin in the flesh is giving me recognition, one of the most important characters in the history of sci fi and cinema in general". Diego is gonna keep those words for life.
Diego Luna is such a thoughtful person, and the way Hayden Christensen is so attentive, taking in everything Diego says is marvelous. For those that haven't seen it, Hayden is great in Shattered Glass about a young journalists who makes up stories to be popular. Well worth a watch.
@@totheedge25 This is one of those movies where his character starts off as good and Peter Sarsgaard's character starts off as bad, and by the end, the opinion has flipped. One of the rare Hank Azaria roles that isn't comedic.
That movie was a really wonderful take on a true story ! I've read that some of Stephen's ( the journalists ) old colleagues actually watched the film and described Hayden's acting as "uncanny" ! He's a truly wonderful actor ! People shouldn't judge him based on his Star Wars performance only ( which was great imo ) and actually watch his other work to properly judge his ability .
Diego is trying to contain his excitement the same way Pedro was when speaking with Ewan. They are all cool people and great actors and deserve all the love they get.
This is probably the most accurate interview about the sequel trilogy. Both Hayden and Diego did a great job expressing the impact that the films had on them.
Diego Luna is such an intelligent, insightful person. I've watched a bunch of these actors on actors these last few days and I was very positively impressed by the one with Cillian Murphy and Margot Robbie, that was a very good conversation that steered away from just "awwn I love you / no it's I who love you! / person X, Y or Z is so good / yeah so great...". But then I come here and find Diego Luna doing a masterful speech on the spot about the meaning of what he does, and he clearly is very strongly connected to his roots, his culture, he's an advocate, he's doing it not only in his acting, he's truly striving to be an agent of change, of happiness, of closeness. I already liked him and I thought I knew him rather well already but now I'm sure to binge watch his interviews like there is no tomorrow.
except a couple episodes of the Mandalorian nothing comes anywhere close to it ( not counting Rouge One and the animated stuff ) that was made by Disney.
@@ImTheReverse It had some really good moments mostly in the first two seasons. The writing was never its strongest suit but it was way better than Episodes 8 and 9. Andor was made for adults whereas the Mandalorian is a lot goofier. I dont see a problem with that its just different styles. Lots of people didnt like Andor for being slow and not having enough action. I loved it for taking its time to do some worldbuilding and develop its characters. In my opinion its the best live-action Star Wars content by a very wide margin. I just wish the Obi-Wan show would've had a more competent writing team, it was pretty childish at times but I loved every minute when Ewan or Hayden was on screen. I am really grateful for them coming back and stepping into those characters again and them sparring on Coruscant was a joy to watch. I do hope so they'll stick around to turn up here and there in the future. I know Hayden is in the Ahsoka show and I am really looking forward to it.
This interview is a total real fun with Hayden and Diego are the underdogs of the Star Wars legacy. Speaking of Hayden, he is such a well spoken good guy and he deserves success and love to all fans. And I think it would be interesting to see Jace Norman and Hayden do a movie together, with their resemblance they can play different versions of a same character in age. 28:10 Hayden’s explanation to how committed himself and Ewan to make the lightsaber fights in the prequels the best one ever.
Hayden deserves ALL THE LOVE that we as fans can give him. This man IS the chosen one PICKED BY G. LUCAS. That alone gives me goosebumps and the fact Hayden so proudly wears this role is amazing. Him and Ewan are absolutely perfect together on (and off) screen. My god.
No one has said it here, so I'm gonna say it. The prequels are the best that has ever happened in star wars. Without Hayden Christensen star wars wouldn't be star wars and Anakin Skywalker wouldn't be Anakin Skywalker. I have spoken.
I love both of these actors and characters. I'm blown away by how down to earth both of them are. Diego the way he reacts to Hayden complimenting his work, and Hayden just being so humble and genuine despite his stardom is so refreshing. Just two really genuine people who haven't let their fame get to their heads. Love it.
While there were many flaws in the Obi Wan series, I have to say I'm glad it exists because that is what brought Hayden back into the Star Wars universe. ❤
Hayden has so much class and humility. You can tell, everytime he talks for more than like a minute he tries to bring Diego back in to talk about his experience. Even though he's definitely the bigger star with a more iconic character he doesn't act like anything he has to say is anymore important than what Diego has to say...Absolute Legend
Diego Luna has brought such a powerful, unique, and subtle energy to Star Wars that feels completely different from any other actor in the franchise. He constantly makes Andor interesting, mysterious, relatable, and memorable. He’s so underrated as an actor and if you are a true Star Wars fan, you would watch Andor. It is truly the best original Star Wars thing Disney has done.
This is Star Wars at its best. So much mutual appreciation and respect from two people who at first seem very different and who might never have met if not for their careers, but who share this passion for both that cinematic universe and for storytelling in general. Really enjoy watching this discussion format where there is some actual space for reflection.
I feel so bad for Hayden. He is clearly a fan of Andor and appreciates its quality and craft. If only his show could have been made by people that share the same passion.
It's so sad that Hayden finally came back just for the Obi Wan show to be just cheap shlock. Still can't believe they fucked it up so badly, it's embarrassing just visually but it's just so poorly written too. Felt more like a fan film than something by Lucasfilm
I’m so happy that people are finally seeing and understanding what a good actor Hayden really is - I think people just assumed he was playing a bratty teen so he probably was a bratty teen, but he’s such a good guy and he’s capable of switching on that Vader darkness in a very impressive way. And I also love that Diego Luna and him were paired because Diego Luna is SO clearly a lifelong fan of Star Wars and I think his very pure, child-like excitement and enthusiasm at times when it comes to SW also brought more out of Hayden’s own excitement and enthusiasm in this interview. ❤
This made my day. We have an introvert and extrovert in perfect balanced as expected. Hayden is a good listener asking the right questions enabling Diego to express the full spectrum of his extrovert traits, and Diego bouncing back with "unlocking" passes to Hayden in order to discover what goes behind this mysterious mind of his. I think that Hayden was emotionally damaged by the sudden exposure during the prequel films and going back to a "lesser/smaller" characters and theater was a coping mechanism or some kind of mental therapy.
It's the shitty writing that is more overboard than the acting and Hayden and Natalie's were doing just fine It's the scripts that make them looks like shit and make them look invalid
@@DarthBaal2001Exactly. And let’s not forget they were having to live up to the expectations of a fan base from one of the greatest film sagas in history. That’s no easy task for even the best of actors.
@@DarthBaal2001 I am curious. What in the movies exactly was the shitty writing and script? As a big fan of the prequels, I just don't understand where that comes from. @filipppk3961 Bruh the writing has everything to do with it cause if they had better writers back then Then Anakin wouldn't have to act like such a whiny little bitch the whole Attack of the Clones and General Greivous have better build up in Revenge of the Sith
So glad to see Hayden again in the franchise! Love him as Anakin. Just re watched Star Wars Attack of the clones. His intensity in certain scenes was perfect. Seeing it as an adult as opposed to a teenager has a completely different feel and viewpoint. Want to see more from him!
I love how Diego Luna can't simply stop being a fan and share his excitement with Hayden. You can feel the passion and love for his role and just ecstatic to be part of Star Wars, and the hug and words in the end... Respect. That was amazing, thank you for sharing this with us
I know there's makeup, good lighting and editing here, but these guys are really good looking for being in their early 40's. And also very well spoken.
It also matters how well someone takes care of themselves . Haydn lives a quiet healthy life from what I’ve read . Not being a party animal pays off in the long run
I love that Hayden is finally being appreciated by the Star Wars fandom. My first experience with Star Wars were the prequels and when I was in 8th grade, I was so in love with Hayden and I loved Padme and Anakin’s love story. I actually only heard of Rogue One after someone memed the Vader scene with Tom Brady against the opposing team. And I actually didn’t watch the film until after I watched Andor. The Andor series is SPECTACULAR. From the seasoned cast to the social justice issues that reflect so vividly in modern society, Andor is about the strength of the common man and how one person can affect change. I’m looking forward to its season 2.
I must say I've heard hundreds of fans comments about Hayden, and in all the years I've never seen anyone say anything bad about the man. Most fans use the word "gentle and very thoughtful" to describe him. He's just what you see on camera. He deserves all the good this world has to offer.
Great actor, but to start a franchise from scratch again I’d say he’s too old as he’s 43. Anthony Hopkins was 60 years old when the first Zorro movie came out but you can tell the story was written in a way where Anthony’s character would pass on the torch to someone else younger so it wasn’t weird or out of place to see someone much older play that character.
it's really hard to notice, you'd had to have very sharp eyes, i'm lucky that way. So I felt like I needed to mention it even when no one asked. Taking full advantage of my internet connection.
Omg. These two are so sweet and polite. I realise that they don't only play my favourite characters in the SW franchise (including Obi), they look like genuinely kind people themselves.
Hayden is such a gem. I love that he is finally starting to see just how much Star Wars fans revere and adore him, his name is right up there with the likes of Hamill, Fisher, and Ford.
A brilliant decision to pair a gracious, passionate, talkative actor (Diego) with the more reserved, introverted, but equally passionate actor (Hayden). Such a great discussion! Hayden is super classy and Diego helped produce some of my favorite Star Wars content of all time in Andor.

Hayden deserves a Vader series. Edit: Hayden's massively popular to audiences. That coupled with strong writers can help to reverse this trend of decreasing viewership at Lucasfilm.
I would love a story centered on Vader. I think that would be so interesting.
@Andrew I think most fans would stay interested with a dark and tormented Vader. Absolute no to a campy Vader, though. If they're going to do that, then better not to have a Vader project at all.
Just give him a new role, in a prosthetic or in full make up, or even as a mandalorian
Yeah but they already messed up Boba and Kenobi
@@chineseobama6043They did do Vader perfect in Kenobi though. Only thing they couldve done better is letting Vader actually kill Reva. Other than that they did him perfect
The Andor writers need to help out with every other show and movie, honestly. Best dialogue in the entire series.
@@matthewj3892 🤌🏻

Exactly! He felt so much like the best parts of Anakin that we as fans love! His mannerisms were simply perfect in every way.
I just rewatched Attack of the Clones after watching some Clone Wars and Rebels, to see how it compared, and Hayden's accent (Anakin's) made it almost impossible to watch. It took about 6 sittings.
@@moneykenny119 You confuse. Obiwan is not competing in the Drama category, but in the Limited category.
Hayden seems like a class act. Notice how he doesn't talk about himself too long. He quickly bounces back to Diego.
Diego seems so excited to be sitting next to Hayden, such a cool pair
31:58 the whole speech Hayden gives to Diego about his contribution and work really hits me, the face of Diego in disbelief, "MAN, Hayden, Anakin in the flesh is giving me recognition, one of the most important characters in the history of sci fi and cinema in general". Diego is gonna keep those words for life.
I don't think Star Wars is science-fiction to be honest. Definitely much more fantasy than sci-fi.
@@r.c.c.10😂tf are u talking about
@@danielford1209 And where's the science?
@@r.c.c.10t’s called science FICTION because it is a fictional iteration of science that we aren’t accustomed to.
@@danielford1209they're right, Star Wars is space fantasy not science fiction !
Diego Luna is such a thoughtful person, and the way Hayden Christensen is so attentive, taking in everything Diego says is marvelous. For those that haven't seen it, Hayden is great in Shattered Glass about a young journalists who makes up stories to be popular. Well worth a watch.
He deserved an Oscar nom for Shattered Glass, IMHO.
So, thanks for giving away the plot. 😂 It's an excellent movie and story but you gave it away.
Hayden has been great in everything he has done. His whole acting career has been amazing to watch and how humble he has been throughout it all
Diego is trying to contain his excitement the same way Pedro was when speaking with Ewan.
Well said! I actually didn't know him before this interview... now I wanna watch some of his movies
"My life didn't change, but it changed me" that's deep.
I love that Hayden backs Andor. It is truly one of the best shows ever written/created. Period.
It’s definitely one of the shows of all time!
In all seriousness, Andor is a damn masterpiece
literally it’s so different compare to the other live action shows that it’s basically perfect
except a couple episodes of the Mandalorian nothing comes anywhere close to it ( not counting Rouge One and the animated stuff ) that was made by Disney.
@@neutchain7838 Tbh I don’t even think the Mandalorian ever came close. Even it’s best episodes pale in comparison to Andor’s worst
A Canadian and a Mexican meet up. This is where fun begins.
Its more like Casian Andor meets Anakin Skywalker for me
Can I have the Maple Syrup Enchiladas
Or anything Canadian and 1 Yanet Garcia please
This is an unspected cross over but a very very welcome one ❤️
@@hkaayaakuu Yanet Garcia 😂😂
Caxico?Mexadian?
The casting of Diego Luna was so refreshing, glad these franchises can boost ones career. We gotta appreciate the nerd culture
these guys played two of the saddest mfs in Star Wars and so seeing them so jolly in real life is a treat
Omg true....😭
This interview is a total real fun with Hayden and Diego are the underdogs of the Star Wars legacy. Speaking of Hayden, he is such a well spoken good guy and he deserves success and love to all fans. And I think it would be interesting to see Jace Norman and Hayden do a movie together, with their resemblance they can play different versions of a same character in age.
28:10 Hayden’s explanation to how committed himself and Ewan to make the lightsaber fights in the prequels the best one ever.
This is where the fun begins
Lol i see you everywhere, and yeah he really is a underrated !! It's so cool that the appreciation of the fans is finally coming along
Luna’s reaction to “have your cake and eat it too” was so cute.
Diego is extremely cute and person with great heart.
Luna was fantastic in Elysium. Hayden never deserved the hate. This was a lovely conversation.
The way Luna was staring at Hayden was pure joy ❤
This is Star Wars at its best. So much mutual appreciation and respect from two people who at first seem very different and who might never have met if not for their careers, but who share this passion for both that cinematic universe and for storytelling in general. Really enjoy watching this discussion format where there is some actual space for reflection.
I feel so bad for Hayden. He is clearly a fan of Andor and appreciates its quality and craft. If only his show could have been made by people that share the same passion.
The stuff with him actually in it was on point though..
yeah and the prequels were pretty terrible, cool guy though not his fault.
It's so sad that Hayden finally came back just for the Obi Wan show to be just cheap shlock. Still can't believe they fucked it up so badly, it's embarrassing just visually but it's just so poorly written too. Felt more like a fan film than something by Lucasfilm
@@y-callos3970 the prequels are beautiful films
@@boat1280 IDK, I personally really enjoyed seeing Obi Wan slowly get his powers back and deal with Vader and the unresolved anger they still have.
so sweet how diego is fangirling over hayden
Love how Diego takes every opportunity to just casually mention Gael. Trully best friends goals
Same with Hayden and Ewan
Hayden is so patient and listens. He is finally getting the recognition that he deserves
I don't understand the old SW fans that hated Hayden being Anakin Skywalker. He's an amazing actor and he did great playing Anakin❤
It's the shitty writing that is more overboard than the acting and Hayden and Natalie's were doing just fine
It's the scripts that make them looks like shit and make them look invalid
@@DarthBaal2001Exactly. And let’s not forget they were having to live up to the expectations of a fan base from one of the greatest film sagas in history. That’s no easy task for even the best of actors.
@joeydoherty368 That's why the writer strike happened twice
@@DarthBaal2001 I am curious. What in the movies exactly was the shitty writing and script? As a big fan of the prequels, I just don't understand where that comes from. The prequels are a lot better as movies than the originals. I think the nostalgic feel of the ones growing up with the originals makes them feel they are better than they actually are.
@filipppk3961 Bruh the writing has everything to do with it cause if they had better writers back then
Then Anakin wouldn't have to act like such a whiny little bitch the whole Attack of the Clones and General Greivous have better build up in Revenge of the Sith
Hayden is so generous. Instead of going on and on about himself he always has a question for Diego.
Respect. That was amazing, thank you for sharing this with us
Hayden Christensen!!!! Awesome seeing him here on this! Glad he is getting the love he deserves!
I appreciate Hayden giving short effective answers and letting Diego talk and express his love for acting, and Star Wars.
It is so incredible how much they honor Star Wars, their roles, and each other. Every moment of this conversation was phenomenal.
I love Diego's enthusiasm in sharing and Hayden being a keen listener.
I must say I've heard hundreds of fans comments about Hayden, and in all the years I've never seen anyone say anything bad about the man. Most fans use the word "gentle and very thoughtful" to describe him. He's just what you see on camera. He deserves all the good this world has to offer.
Diego is a proper legend. Very generous. What an intelligent actor ❤
Diego is GLOWING!!! I love the love that Hayden is receiving! He absolutely deserves it!!
Diego is litearlly just glowing while listening. You can really see hes a big fan.. and listening to every word he’s’ got the sparkle in his eye
Diego Luna would be perfect choice to play Zorro in a reboot. I want that so badly.
That is perfection
💯
Or a Mexican Paul McCartney.
He's so happy to be talking to Darth Vader, can't stop smiling xD
Weird, I didn’t know Hayden Christensen transformed into James Earl Jones during the interview.
it's really hard to notice, you'd had to have very sharp eyes, i'm lucky that way. So I felt like I needed to mention it even when no one asked. Taking full advantage of my internet connection.
I never cease to smile every time I hear Diego talking. Such an authentic and intelligent guy. So proud of what he achieved in his career.
Omg. These two are so sweet and polite. I realise that they don't only play my favourite characters in the SW franchise (including Obi), they look like genuinely kind people themselves.
He’s such a beautiful person and I’m so glad to exist in a world with Hayden Christensen 🫶
